Covid-19 Name Change

I mailed in my documents to my loca SSA office on 8/13 and haven’t heard anything back. It’s such a frustrating process. I also wasn’t thinking when I mailed it in and didn’t get a tracking number. I’m definitely upset with myself for that. It’s so worrisome because you must send in your actual documents, not copies. I’m hoping I get something soon. Has anyone gotten their SSN card back at all, if so, how long did it take?

I did mine last month. It’s took about 3 weeks to get the new SS card but they actually sent back my documents about a week before that. I’m California, not sure if it varies by state or not.

I got my new card a little over 2 weeks after I sent everything in. Got my documents back before that. I'm in TN so it could just depend on where you live.

I just called my local SSA office in MN and they told me it’s currently taking them 6-8 weeks. Seems like such a long time!

Oh man, yeah that is taking a while! I guess it's just different depending on what state you're in. Hopefully you'll get yours sooner!

I just put mine in the mail box last night! I hope they do not take that long to come back! I hate having to send in my actual drivers licences. I hope they pump up those numbers and get your back to you! Luckly I live in a very small and rural county and they do not get very back logged.

Mine took about 4 or 5 weeks. I’m now going on over 4 weeks waiting for my new license. It’s a super frustrating waiting game.

I'm in MN as well and can attest to it taking forfreakingever to get anything back. I was married June 6th and sent my forms in to SSA about a week after we were married, I only just got them back the second week of August. I haven't been able to get in at the DMV because they are so backed up (and I live in a very rural town, so its not like they have THAT many people to deal with). So I imagine by they time I get in and actually receive my DL It will be into January until I'm fully Mrs. Larson Lol.

Just another one of the Joys of being a COVID bride Smiley xd

That makes me feel better at least. I’m not glad that it took you that long, but I’m glad I’m not the only one!

I’m in Texas. I’ve sent my stuff in early August and called the office in late August. They said they just started working on May applicants. Then I said I’ll come pick up the paper work and then
I’m still waiting and hope to get by November. 🤞
