Bridal shower?!

Tonya, on June 25, 2022 at 11:02 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
Help! What type of things go on at a bridal shower? My MOH is throwing me one and has asked for help on ideas! What type of places should I register and how many people should I invite? Our wedding is very small maybe 40 people.

You can register at Target, Amazon, Bed Bath and Beyond. It just depends on what it is what you and your fiancé want/need. I’d say invite your wedding party and some of your friends that are attending the wedding.

The typical bridal shower has guests of you, your bridesmaids, and the closest family and friends on your side. Usually there is a meal (frequently lunch but can be a different meal) and games. If YOU want drinks sometimes there is alcohol involved as well.

The shower typically includes the bridesmaids, close family of the bride and groom, and close friends of the bride. However whom should only invite people who are also invited to the wedding as it is considered rude to invite them to a pre-wedding invite and not the wedding.

During the shower, you typically eat, play games and open any gifts that were given.
We registered at Crate & Barrel, IKEA and Macy's. Some other places to pick from would be Target, Amazon, or Bed Bath and Beyond. I will say that we used Target's baby registry when we had our daughter and one thing to beware of is that Target's items frequently go out of stock or get discontinued. We had this happen with numerous items we registered for. My brother had the same issue with Target for his wedding registry.

Keep in mind that you don’t host or plan your own shower. Someone will volunteer to host it for you. It is acceptable to have more than one shower if guests are scattered around the country, but only guests invited to the wedding are invited to the shower. The only thing you contribute is a list of available dates and a list of local guests who are invited to the wedding.

The exception is coworkers hosting a shower for you. It is never expected that you invite them to the wedding as a result.
Usually there might be a couple short games. People eat light refreshments (fruit/cheese/meat platters, tea sandwiches, lemonade/tea/nonalcoholic sherbet punch) , not a full meal or alcohol. A simple small cake is served as dessert. Wrapped gifts are opened. Guests socialize. It doesn’t last more than 2-3 hours.

Couples register at stores local to them or national chains and a variety of prices are offered. Everyone has different budgets. Target and Walmart are popular places to register and available in most cities. Don’t feel restricted to towels and sheets. Register with fiancé for anything you want and need that you would not spend your own money on. Get high quality upgrades and donate your original items to a local thrift store or shelter.
