Bridal Shower

Amber, on October 26, 2021 at 10:11 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 8
I’ve never been to a bridal shower, but my fmil is hosting one for me next month. I’m a little nervous, because it’s a lot of people I don’t know very well. What should I expect? Should I give her a gift for hosting? Do I just wear a cute white dress? (I think everything I have is kinda spring/summery).

Expect everyone to be hugging you asking for pictures with them and lots of fun!! They’ll ask you details of three wedding and if your excited. And heck yes wear a cute white dress!! Il

Oh I didn’t even think about the hugging, you’re right though. I’m going to have to figure out how to prepare myself for this, I’m not a hugger lol.

You can wear whatever you want! Personally, I think brides go overboard wearing white to every single wedding event - if that's what you want to wear go for it! But by no means is that a requirement. Sometimes there are fun games (one popular one is making bridal gowns out of toilet paper Smiley laugh ), usually opening gifts, a light meal or desserts, and just socializing and celebrating your upcoming wedding! A gift to the host isn't mandatory, but I would say a sincere note of thanks afterwards is proper etiquette, and if you choose to also give her a small gift that's always a nice gesture.

Most of the ones Ive attended theres hugging, congratulations, gifts, games, food, if the crowd calls for it drinking. Just a tip, take a notebook and pen and assign someone (usually a bridesmaid, mother or sister) to write down who gives you what gifts. That way when you go to write your thank you cards its all listed out for you.

I had to host and plan my own. It went a lot faster than expected and 80% bailed before the games were over Smiley sad I suggest trying to relax and go with the flow as hard as that is.

How long was it planned for? She’s got 4 hours planned for this and I feel like that’s a long time.
