Bridal shower planner

Claire, on April 8, 2021 at 1:58 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10

Hi ladies! I am planning my friend's bridal shower and worried about making it special with everything else going on in my life! I've researched planners in my area and found someone who can plan the shower for $300. What do you think? Is it worth it?

What does the planner include with this price?! Are things included in the $300? Or is that just her planning price and you would need to spend more for decorations and other things?

Do you have other friends and family that are willing to help plan with you? I like to eliminate unnecessary expenses when it comes to things I can do myself, hence why we don't have a wedding planner lol, and this is def. one of them.

I wouldn't spend $300 JUST for someone to help plan a shower. Def. ask family and friends that would be willing to help if they mind! Because if you think about it, if the $300 is just for that person to plan, and doesn't include food, drinks, any favors, or extras, is it worth it? Save your money and ask around for free help!

What does the $300 include? I know for my brother's wedding, his decorator included the price of decorating for the shower as part of her pricing for the wedding so as maid of honor I didn't have to worry about decor for the shower. If the $300 only covers planning the shower then I would say no it isn't worth it because you'd still have to pay for the venue (depending on where you have it), food & drinks, decorations, games & prizes for the winners, and a gift. It would be better to ask her family or the other bridesmaids to help with planning.

I can't imagine this price is worth it. Just get a sheet cake she likes from the local grocery store along with party platters (no need for a full meal), invites and decorarations at Target or Party City. Beverages (simple ice cream punch with ice cream and soda) or get canned sodas from Costco but do not serve alcohol without a full meal and showers are often in between meal times. Have the party in your backyard (or someone who does with their permission) and you're all set. Should be less than $200 for all that and doing it yourself.

Find a few fun games to play and print out directions online. Travel size goodies from Target for prizes. No need for favors that no one will keep.

Thank you for the replies! Yes, $300 just covers planning - she would help me figure out the food/ decorations/ venue (although we might have it at home) etc. so I don't have to do it or outsource it to other friends and I'm not particularly creative ha! I would need to pay for other items separately . . .

In that case I would 100% skip it. I know you say you aren't creative, but that's why there's Pinterest and WW haha!! Use that $300 towards everything you'll have to get for the shower, rather than paying someone to just tell you what theme, food, décor to get.

I personally don't think that $300 would be worth it just to plan a shower. If you host the shower at your home or someone else's home, you could throw the entire event for under that amount

Yeah, I would definitely skip a planner, especially if that $300 only covers the cost of planning. Definitely not worth it. My sister planned mine (which happened this past Saturday) while working as an accountant during tax season. Talk about a time crunch for her! My cousin is a trained pastry chef, so she made desserts. My mom helped with a bit of the planning. The shower was held in my backyard and we all (including my fiance and my sister's boyfriend) helped set up all the tables/chairs/EZ-ups. It was definitely a team effort and came together beautifully. Reach out to bridal party members or the bride's family to see if they might want to help out.

I cannot imagine this service would be worth the price! Depending on the size of the guest list, you can look into local restaurants. Many have private party rooms that are perfect for these types of events! They are usually pretty reasonably priced for food and have a nice atmosphere that doesn’t require any extreme decor.

I agree with others. You don't need to go crazy. Most bridal showers I have been to have been at a restaurant, VFW hall, clubhouse (like in a homeowners association neighborhood), or a person's home. For my bridal shower, my bridal party booked a clubhouse in someone's home association and decorated with a few balloons and a few decor pieces on the tables. They got a few sandwich and dessert platters from a local sandwich shop (it was an afternoon shower). I don't think it really cost a whole lot to put together, but it was lovely.
