Bridal Shower next Saturday anxiety and what to wear

I hadn’t planned on having a shower. FH and I have been together for almost 9 years, and lived together for 8. We already have a home together, so we don’t really need gifts. However, FH’s Teenage daughters (my bridesmaids) really wanted me to have one, so my FMIL is helping them host it...And they’ve gone all in on planning an extravaganza. I’m honored but still feeling a little awkward about it. I just need to stop worrying and be grateful, but I can’t seem to shake it.

We are getting married on Halloween, and we have a lite Nightmare Before Christmas theme. They are using that same theme for the shower. The day after Halloween last year I bought my costume for this year: Sally from NBC. I obviously won’t use it this year but would it be weird to wear the dress to the shower ? That's a cute dress. Go for it. You can wear anything you feel gorgeous in. It doesn't have to be bridal white.

My aunt who has been married four times and is in her 60's is having a wedding and a bridal shower because she never had either of those. Who cares how long you have been together. I think that dress is fine. I am wearing a white sun dress but if you are getting married on Halloween with a theme I think that dress works. Do they have a theme?

Thanks, they are using the same theme as the wedding. Between being an introvert and just feeling weird about asking for gifts in general I think I’m just stuck in my own head about the shower

They had been bugging him to propose for years. I’m lucky we have a good relationship and that I have so much support from them.

Well you're not asking for gifts. If people choose to give one to you that's their decision. Lol. I can understand the introvert part but just enjoy the love. 😊

Oh, wear it! It'll fit the theme, you'll look amazing, and the pics will be fun!
DH and I had lived together for 3 years, but we still had a shower. Mostly for the fun factor, but we did receive some very generous and helpful gifts (like THE KITCHEN AID MIXER YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS), so if people *really* want to give you gifts... you can always upgrade/put the gifts towards a thing you really want.

I think that since its part of your theme then it would totally match to wear the sally dress! plus its your party wear what makes you happy and what you're comfortable in.
Also - keep in mind, just cause you have lots of stuff already, doesn't mean you can't still get new stuff!! i said the same thing then someone told me - these wedding gifts are a good time to upgrade your stuff which are probably old, over used or not as good of quality (at least in my case!) Plus if someone's gonna get you a gift they're gonna get you one, so try just to enjoy it
