Bridal shower ideas during covid

Asia, on July 25, 2020 at 6:49 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9
Hello,
My maid of honor is trying to plan a bridal shower for me in October, but my bridesmaids are fearful and don’t what to have one. I am a little frustrated. Are there any suggestions for a bridal shower during COVID?

A lot of people do virtual ones now! Or drive by ones where people dRop off a gift

Before my fiance and I postponed our wedding, a few family members were planning to do a bridal shower for me. They were planning to give guests a couple options: either pick a time slot on the day (so that they could stagger what time everyone arrived to keep the gathering at a minimum, and so I could still socialize with everyone), or do a drive-by option. Since we postponed, we also cancelled the bridal shower, so I can't say whether this worked out as well as it sounded, but it's an idea!

Could you do it at an outside patio at a restaurant? Brunch maybe?

I didn't want one either, but there were people who really wanted to throw one for me, so I agreed to it. Because of COVID, it had to change. Here's a summary:

    The Drive-Through-
People drove up to the house, but (for the most part) stayed in their cars.
Everyone wore masks. Each time a car drove up, someone (usually my mom or bridesmaid) brought them treats and took their present/card if they brought one. My fiancè and I spoke to each person briefly and had our pictures taken outside of some of their cars, many of which were decorated.
The Zoom-It was mostly opening gifts. People who hadn't been to the drive-through had theirs shipped to my parents' house. My mom wrapped the ones that arrived unwrapped. People had bingo cards and there was another game. Prizes were emailed.
When it was over, I was actually glad to have agreed to it. People seemed excited to be able to celebrate something and like it made them feel more included in our wedding.

Consider doing a drive by bridal shower or something outside where people can properly social distance properly.

We are doing an “open house“ style shower for mine next month. People can come and go as they please so it keeps the numbers of guests in the house down and then others who’d like to linger can do that. We just asked everyone to please wear a face mask.

Mine will be outside and I kept the list small

We did one for my sister who invited 50 as an outside open house thing and kept the first hour for the family members who were higher risk

Virtual and drive-by showers are definitely a good consideration. I like what others have said about having an outdoor location.
