Bridal shower gifts received beforehand

I just wrote a thank you note right away and sent it out. I did not bring the gifts to the shower. Usually guests send the shower gift because they either don't want anyone to have to lug it around or they aren't able to make it but still want to give a gift.

I opened them right away! (Especially because my fiance really doesn't care about new dish sets or cooking equipment, so I didn't need to wait for him). It seems kind of silly to lug them to the shower. But do whatever you're most comfortable with! If you'd rather wait and open them at the shower, that's totally up to you!

I opened them right away and sent thank you cards to let the person know I received it. Something along the lines of "Thank you for your gift! FH and I will use it for XYZ. Looking forward to celebrating with you at the shower"

If you open them now you get a head start on thank you cards and at the shower before you start opening gifts say a generic thank you to everyone who sent things to your home so they are included on the actual day.

Open them and send a thank you ASAP. I think it's silly to bring opened gifts to a shower, but if the gift giver is going to attend the shower, it's nice to acknowledge in front of everyone what they got for you (just like you do for the gifts you're opening there).

I waited to open them. Since my shower wasn’t normal it was virtual. I opened on screen the what gifts I even got.

Some people display gifts, most do not display wedding gifts, only those at the shower. It depends on those in area, and whether it is thought to be rudely showing off, ora nicer thing. I would find that out locally. I can only think of once in a huge number of weddings in my area with wedding gifts on display. But when I lived in a much more upscale are, showing off stuff was a regular ( and much laughed at) thing.

I'm so glad someone else posted about this, I'm struggling with this right now as we've recieved 2 gifts in the mail this week lol. Its so confusing though, because the person who sent them said they are coming to the shower.
