Maddie, on October 8, 2020 at 9:54 PM Posted in Married Life 0 10
Hello, my husband and i got married 8/21/2020 and i did not get bridal portraits bc i assumed i would get some pictures of just myself the day of and during all the chaos and excitement our photographer and myself completely forgot. i keep feeling like i want to get bridal portraits done but then part of me is like eh screw it, the day is about my husband and me, not just me. but i don’t wanna look back years later and regret it :/ any advice?? anybody else in the same boat and not get a single picture alone all dolled up the day of? 😭

Is it possible you can crop a copy of any of the pictures to have it of just you?

It's extremely rare when I actually like a picture of myself, so I probably won't remember to get a specific bridal photo.

Oh no! If you’ve gotten your photos back and have no bridal photos but wish you had, definitely look into scheduling a bridal session! Or even a couples shoot if you didn’t get any or enough photos of your spouse! If you’re just going by feel and felt like you didn’t get any bridal portraits, I’d hang tight until you get your photos back and go from there. I scheduled bridal portraits in advance and separate from the wedding day because I’d heard weddings almost always pass too fast and unfortunately portrait shots often get cut short or cut completely. 😔

I think you should go for it! Yes, the day is about you & your husband, but it’s also about you as a bride! If you are still thinking about bridal portraits a month later, I think it’s something that’s important to you. You deserve beautiful photos of you in your dress- especially if you didn’t get any on your wedding day! Plus, it gives you an excuse to put your dress on again (yay!)

    I didn’t either 😭
Completely skipped our minds!! I also for got my bouquet...lol other than that, it was perfect.
But, recreating a bridal portrait would not be the same for me, so I’m opting out 😔

I've never heard of bridal portraits before WW. Genuinely curious what people do with them?

I didn’t either and it’s still something that bothers me after 1 1/2 year so I say go for it.

I’d never heard of bridal pics before joining WW. I’m in SoCali and figured it was originally a regional thing done elsewhere that became a fad. But even without bridal portraits done on a separate day, I’m very surprised that your photographer didn’t get any individual photos of you on your wedding day.

But between engagement photos, bridal portraits and wedding pics...what do you do with all of them? I also agree with another poster above who said that maybe your photographer can crop out a few photos of you and Photoshop them to look like bridal portraits. I honestly doubt that you’ll look back and regret not taking bridal pics. You’ll have all of your wedding photos to look back on and reminisce about the joyous occasion.

I say go for it!! I had a family friend who skip couples portraits due to rain on their wedding day, and then just scheduled a session with their photographer a few weeks later and got dolled up again!! Smiley heart

I think I’d do it. Reach out to your photographer to see if they could do a shorter/cheaper mini session. I did have bridals done ahead of time but in part because my friend had already agreed to do our engagement photos before I found my wedding photographer who had a portrait session included in the package. I changed the engagement session to a bridal session and also asked to tack on a mini boudoir session the same day so I’d only have to get my hair and makeup done once before the wedding.
