Bar after

Colleen, on August 19, 2019 at 10:49 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 6
For those going to bar after the wedding. Did you call and let the bar know ahead of time a big group is coming. If everyone goes we can have 21. But most like less.

We just went to the bar at the hotel I had the block at. Since the wedding sad a Sunday night, they usually had the bar closed by the time we got back, but they kept it open for us for a good 3 or 4 hours past. We had probably 20+ people down there. It was worth it. That being said, I think it's one of those know your crown things. Maybe give them a heads up if you want. It wouldn't hurt

We didn’t but we had checked out the bar we were using and knew they’d have plenty of space. We didn’t have a big “thing” — just told people we’d be there, so it also wasn’t one big cluster of 25 people taking over, it was various groups who went together, so, 5 here, 4 here, 6 here kind of thing and we mingled our way around when we arrived. I guess we did warn the bar “we’d be back” after we had our welcome
reception there (the only bar by the hotel), but didn’t make it a big organized thing bc I didn’t want to get in to reserving space at all, as it
was such a casual / ‘we’ll probably stop in’ approach. If we had wanted a table altogether or our own area though, I would’ve set it up in advance. We just very much didn’t want that bc we didn’t want to risk being isolated / killing the party vibe by making everyone sit and hang with the guests that weren’t necessarily the ones they knew.

We actually did tell them we would have a large group coming over late and luckily we did because there was another wedding and it was packed. They had more people on staff at the bar which helped.

We live in a double college town, so our bars are used to huge crowds showing up. I’m not worried about it at all! I don’t plan on calling ahead, and we are probably going to bar hop to a few of our favorites vs sticking with one in particular!

Our hotel bar stayed open until 2 AM (typically closes at 11 PM). We did tell them in advance since it was around 40 people.
