Banking and Checks after Name Change?

I'm not sure if it's still acceptable, but I heard you can neatly cross out the name, type in the correct name and put your initials. This was years ago though, so I doubt if that is still acceptable. Is there a way to get some temporary checks, or a few-like 3 to 5, and have the banks type your name on them? I know it has to be type written and not handwritten according to my bank.

I work at a bank and usually we tell people it's fine to use up the checks with your maiden name. When you re order you can order with your married name. People bring in checks made out to their married name months, even years later and it's never been an issue to deposit/cash those either. If your bank isn't too familiar with you maybe bring your ID and marriage license.

Double check with your banl, but it should be fine to use up your old ones as long as the account and routing numbers stay correct. I've been using old checks with an outdated address for over a year.

I'm sure this isn't the best official advice, but I've still been using checks with my maiden name and haven't had any issues yet! If your fiance's name is also on the checks and they aren't changing their name then you should definitely be fine!

I have been using my checks with my maiden name and just cross it out and put my married name! No issues.

I have one account with my married name and one with my maiden name and write checks from both with no problems. I have zero intention of ever updating the account with my maiden name.
