Yesterday I married my best friend. It was a whirlwind. Some of our bridesmaid's surprised us the night before by showing up with their clothes for the wedding and full intentions of making our day perfect. At the last minute we moved to plan C and got married at our church. We've been planning our wedding for 3.5 years officially, replanned it all in the last 4 weeks, and totally overhauled it again the morning of. But it was beautiful. My maid of honor and childhood best friend's sister showed up and took right to coordinating for me because I was a mess. Shw jumped right in and when I thanked her later she hugged me tight and told me thats what sisters are for. We had several people text us and ask what time they could drive by the church and honk. We were planning for noon but it was about 1 when we finally were ready. I was just finishing hair and makeup when my husband's (😳) Uncle walked in to the bathroom at the church. He had seen the door open and came in (wearing a mask) just to tell me he loved me, and he was glad to finally call me family and that he wished his parents were there. It was so heart warming and perfect. When he left I stepped out into the church hallway and one of my other very good friends was standing there in a mask and said she would stay socially distanced but she just couldn't miss this. I looked out the door and I saw our whole church parking lot filled and the street lined. I cried so so much. My mom came in at the last minute because she had been getting the lunch and cake made. She gave me a necklace and earrings with my late fathers favorite gem and flower, and we talked about how the rain was his and all of our other passed loved ones presence. It was his birthday, and I carried him on my shoes to help walk me down the aisle. When I walked out into the sanctuary, I didn't just see my FH, his parents, and the bridal party I knew was there, but my mom had noticed an old friend standing in the rain outside hoping to get a good picture and invited her in to sit in the pews. She played such a big part in my childhood and having her there meant the world. My brother was FaceTimed in from California. I prayed and prayed for warm sunny weather and it rained from noon Friday through late last night. After the ceremony we walked out the doors of our church and the stream of people was so overwhelming and the love we felt was beautiful. I didn't even care about the rain. Anyway, enough babbling.
