Backing out

Fwbride, on June 3, 2019 at 3:29 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
Full disclosure; I am more annoyed than anything and just need a place to channel it.

As I have mentioned before my fiancé and I are doing a Bach weekend in Toronto. We have 12 people going and we told everyone that once people start giving me their payment no one can back out, because then the price will go up for everyone and I don’t want to hassle my friends for extra money and I also don’t want to have to cover their costs. I paid almost for half of the Airbnb just so I could keep the cost cheaper for them so I really don’t want to pay more. FH and I are paying for gas, but everyone is paying for their food, activities, and whatever else. Our issue now is that we have this person who begged us to come and we said yes. Well, guess who doesn’t think he can come now that the money is due😒... I just want to strangle him haha. Honestly I should’ve just taken the money a few months ago when he offered to pay upfront. I want to ask him to try and make it work for the sake of everyone else, but I also don’t want to be a crazy person...

I'd be frustrated, too! First he begs to come then says, nah, I can't come - what in the world? Refrain from laying hands on your friend though Smiley laugh

Lol! He’s also one of those guys that wants everyone to think he has hella money when he really doesn’t. So I just want to be like you shouldn’t have eaten at all those expensive restaurants for Facebook likes!

I so feel this! My bachelorette we were going to go out dancing in the city but that sound like a logistical nightmare so I found this AMAZING loft airbnb & I needed 11 girls to commit to $30pp - which when you think if we out we'd spend $15 to walk through the door then $15 on our first drink, this way we could make our own drinks, play our own music & actually hang out with each other. Well of course 11 girls committed but as it got closer people kept dropping off & this happens to me all the time i'll never learn, but I don't get why people don't understand once you commit financially you are responsible for your contribution!

I would definitely try and talk to him, just let him now that this isn’t acceptable behavior especially after he made such a stink about coming!

I had 4 girls apparently back out of staying in the Airbnb and were going to get their own hotel room after my friend had already triple checked with everyone on price, location, etc. 🙄

they have since come to their senses (a convo may have been had), but so frustrating that people think it’s ok.

Literally agree with Cher haha. I am in the same boat as we are doing a group trip to Vegas! We are paying a portion of everyone's trip. Hotel rooms alone make a difference whether the room has 4 or 3 people so we have to consider that and make the split even from the total for girls and guys separately. I don't want anyone backing out so I am going to try and be the most up front about it like you were. I would honestly just talk to him and be like this is specifically what I mentioned not to happen because it's unfair to everyone else. Luckily we are booking hotel first so by the time flights will be booked if someone screws up and can't go, the hotel has free cancellation and we can rearrange how many rooms needed then.
