Bachelorette: which would you pick?

mrswinteriscoming, on August 20, 2020 at 2:07 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 14

My bachelorette won't be until mid-late next year but I'm going to start planning soon so the girls attending can save up for it as we anticipate it'll cost everyone attending about $250-300AUD. Which would you pick if you had the choice?

1) CRUISE - 2 night cruise (in Australian/international waters - not attending any ports); OR

2) WINERIES - 2 night weekend away staying at a nice farmstead with a day visit to a few wineries.

Both options will run for the same duration and will be around the same cost. The difference is on the cruise we can relax by the pool, attend shows, and have unlimited buffets, whereas the wineries visit will require everyone to drive 2 hours each way but we have more flexibility in doing anything we decide at the time?

Did you do a poll and ask all their opinions? Ik for me I love wine lol so wineries would work and be amazing. I wouldn't wanna be struck on a cruise, I dont even know if I would get sea sick or not. Both are good ideas though!

You should definitely talk this through with your bridal party and find out what they prefer. Make sure they can afford it especially if they have to purchase their own dresses.

Although for me personally, I love wine tours much more than cruises.

I personally am a fan of wine, so I'd pick the winery option. I agree with the previous comments - check with everyone attending to get their preferences.

I’d choose the cruise. There are shows and unlimited food ? Count me in. Assuming the boat serves wine you’d get a little bit of both worlds.

Definitely as your bridesmaids which they prefer. However, my choice would be the wineries.

I'm sure you'll ask them as that's everyone's advice... But I think I'd go with whichever one is the more unique experience for your birdesmaids. If nobody has done a cruise I think that's an easy choice! It's so fun. But if they've not done a winery experience that can be great too. I'm so jealous, sounds like an awesome bachelorette!

My biggest concern would be that cruises are more likely to continue to be shut down for a longer period of time than a winery. A trip including a winery also would seem to give you more flexibility in the event there are still a lot of restrictions. (Hopefully, things will be significantly better next year, but back in March we all thought things would be normal by this summer....) Good luck!

Ask them what they prefer. I'm not a wine person but I love the scenery and architecture. The cruise has lots of options for everyone. You really can't go wrong with either.

Did you ask them for their preference? And are they ok with the budget? For a group of gals (especially ones I might not know), I’d prefer the winery option. If y’all are renting a house it’s just nice for everyone to have their own room and find a little space to nap before the next set of activities. 🍷 🧀 🎉 😴 🍷 🍔 🍷 🍷

I don't want to be a bummer, but MOB So Cal does bring up a good point - and even if cruises are back up and running, you may have more attendees leery at the idea of getting on a 2-day party cruise with people who are...ahem, less likely to abide by whatever restrictions are in place at that time. I am an avid cruiser, and even I canceled my 11-day Southern Caribbean cruise in January 2021 because if it even goes, I am not going to be comfortable getting on a ship until there's a vaccine and it's widely available. Not to say you shouldn't go - but that some of your girls may share those concerns.

I'd definitely ask your bridal party about their comfort level with cruise ships (COVID nonwithstanding). For example, my MOH has told me numerous times that being on a boat and unable to see land is a hard pass for her, and my FSIL gets nauseous easily and has to bring anti-nausea medications to be comfortable. We also always put her in a cabin on a middle deck in the middle of the ship to minimize rocking. I personally would LOVE to have a cruise bachelorette, but given that half of my bridal party would have an issue it becomes a non-starter for me. But all of us love wine. Smiley laugh

Cruise sounds like a more relaxed time and no drinking and driving required.

I'd pick the winery! I'm not a huge cruise fan.
