Are rehearsal dinner invitations necessary?

Peach, on January 18, 2022 at 11:28 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 8

We're not planning to have a large rehearsal dinner; it will only be for those involved in the wedding ceremony (bridesmaids & groomsmen + their plus ones, parents, and speakers). So with the exception of any plus ones, the people we would be inviting are expected to be there. If attendance is -for lack of better terms- mandatory, how do you go about writing an invitation? Would it be more of an announcement?

You definitely don't need invitations for it. You can just text or tell people in person. I also think that most people assume that if they're needed at the rehearsal then they'll be at a rehearsal dinner.

You don't need invitations for it (though can certainly send invites if you prefer). You could instead just text/email the info to everyone, just so they have it in writing to reference in case they forget the time/place.

A formal invitation isn’t necessary. Just word of mouth at the rehearsal. “We’re heading to ____”

Like others have said above, invitations are not mandatory or necessary for the rehearsal dinner! We're planning on sending a group text message to all that are involved so they can have the details in case they need them!

I sent an evite to everyone just so they had the time and address. We had more than just immediate family and wedding party there though so I think the évites were appreciated (since we invited certain extended family members who probably wouldn’t have thought they would be included)

I put an extra details card in the invitation suite of those that were invited/needed to attend the rehearsal. It had date, time, and location.

A formal invitation isn't required for a rehearsal dinner. I do like the idea of the extra details card in the invitation suite though!

If the majority are tech-savvy, make sure you have everyone’s email & current cell number.
