Anyone else frustrated with trying to add items to Target registry?

RoseSoda, on January 14, 2021 at 11:12 AM Posted in Registry 0 14

(first world problems warning) I mostly need to vent here. I like a lot of things at Target, and it's a very popular choice for registries in my area because it's a common, usually moderately priced store. So it seemed like an obvious choice to start a wedding registry there.

But now they have this Target+ program which encompasses quite a bit of what is available on their site (and it's largely a lot of the nicest stuff!) and none of it is eligible for registries. I don't think it can be filtered out either.

So it's been the most annoying thing trying to find items to add, seeing really cool stuff, only to realize it's a "Target+" item and cannot be added to the registry.

I already have an Amazon registry set up and I'm considering ditching the Target one altogether at this point. I've only found 12 items to add to it so far and it's nothing really that can't be found elsewhere. C'mon, Target!

We have our registries through Zola, Target, and Crate & Barrel.

I've been a little frustrated with Target just because items I have on there will be out of stock within 2 days, then I remove it only to find out a few days later that it's back in stock lol. I've just learned to keep it on there, and it may be in stock when our guests go to purchase gifts. The Target+ is annoying though because there are SO many nice items that I want to add, but can't because it isn't available for registries...

I will give some warning on Amazon registries. Every wedding we've attended that had one, almost always ALL the gifts were out of stock, so their Amazon registry was never purchased from because of that.

I hate Target's registry. I'm currently pregnant and we were going to use Target, but they are constantly discontinuing items. We decided not to use them anymore. For our wedding, we registered at Crate & Barrel, Macy's, and IKEA and never once had any issues.

Yeah if it was just a matter of stuff going out of stock, I could probably handle it for the most part if as you said they tend to come back into stock a little later. It's that damn Target Plus thing I hate.

I will keep that in mind about the Amazon one though! We'll just have to keep an eye on what's in there. I've only been to one wedding so far where they had an Amazon registry and didn't have any trouble finding stuff in stock, but I think I ordered off of it pretty far in advance so maybe the items hadn't sat as long. Most items I'm not overly concerned if someone gets for us or not; I think cash and gift cards will be the big thing anyway. Just want to have a few options for people who don't like to gift that way though.

I gotcha! If you still have problems with Amazon or Target, I highly suggest Crate & Barrel or Zola! We haven't had any problems with them so far and none of our items have gone out of stock!

That's a bummer! Such a shame, as they have a lot of neat stuff. It's a whole different story physically going into the store versus trying to find things on their website I guess.

We don't have Crate and Barrel or Ikeas around here unfortunately. There's a Macy's within an hour's drive, but I think their stuff is on the pricier side and I'd like to keep things a little more modest. I guess if we want something other than Amazon, it'll have to be Walmart. Hate to rely on those two places so much, but what can you do.

YES! Totally did not like the Target registry! They do have a lot of cute stuff on there, but didn't seem like a big selection and much of the stuff you can get through Amazon. Also hated that things always went out of stock.

I switched over to Amazon and loved it so much better! Lots more items to choose from, a good variety, and if your guests have prime it's free shipping for them.

My fiancé and I are also registered at Target and we have been disappointed with it. The items we want are never in stock or get discontinued right after adding them. I agree with you that most of the items we really want aren't available for registries. I've also been considering just ditching the Target registry.

We registered through both Zola and Target. Zola allows you to shop a range of brands and everything is purchased online. There were a few specific Target items I wanted to include and I know some older guests might prefer going into a store where they can access the registry, so that's why we included Target too. The nice thing is that on Zola, we can link our Target registry so all the items show up in one place.

Anyway, when you are on Target's website, I'm pretty sure you can filter by brand and then select the "target brands" button at the top. Most in-house branded items should be registry eligible. I haven't had the same issue as you for my registry since I only have a few items on it, BUT I shop Target online a lot and filtering out the extra brands usually helps a lot. A lot of their home decor type stuff is very seasonal so no matter what you will probably have stuff go out of stock or get discontinued.

My fiancé and I registered with Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Anthropologie, Amazon and Target. Target has literally been the worst of these so far because things keep going in and out of stock. Crate & Barrel so far is been my favorite because their online system is super easy to manage.

I'm in the same boat, it is def a first world problem, I also feel weird complaining about it, but it is what it is lol! I've found that the Zola registry has everything that Target/BB&B/Amazon has, just in one place. Plus, it looks a lot prettier/is a lot easier for guests to sort through.

Ok so I just had my bridal shower and I received, I kidd you not, 3 of the same thing over and over again. And they claimed they checked it off the registry - I swear target registry has glitched or something! I recommend Amazon!

Ditch it, girl! If it's frustrating for you it's not worth it. Try Bed Bath & Beyond. We have been happy with that and Amazon

Wanted to start a target registry on my phone, but found out adding items and managing the registry isn't supported on the App! 😒🙄You have to go in store, or on their website. WTH, Come on Target!!! I don't understand how this isn't available yet considering how popular target registries have become and the highly digital age we live in!?!
