After Party

Jillian, on September 22, 2021 at 10:51 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 7
So we are having an after party immediately following our reception. It's an hour and a half long. My fiance thinks a note about it should be on the invitation itself, I think it should be a separate insert. We don't even know how to word it at all. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’ve only seen after parties listed on the website but an insert could work too.

IMO anything on the invitation just feels like its a "mandatory" part of the wedding. I would list info on the website, or as a separate insert if you aren't doing a website. I honestly feel like the afterparties I've been to are all just said verbally/through a text, not even formally. One of my friends also had her DJ announce towards the end of the night

You can send an enclosure or a separate invite - like you would a shower. Word of mouth or a DJ works too. So does an email chain. Just be mindful if you may want to limit the size of the group - many places don't just let 60 people pop by their establishment. So, have a plan of where it will be and any limits to the number of people. In which case you might need to rethink who you are inviting. Also, if alcohol is involved then think of ways to ensure that everyone can get back to where they are spending the night. There's more to this than it seems - but have a blast with it!!

I prefer the idea of a separate enclosure or providing that information on the website, unless you're using a 4 panel invite where you're including a wedding events timeline on it!

Are you hosting the after party, or will people be paying for their own food and drinks? If you are hosting it fully, you could include it on an invitation insert. If attendees are paying for themselves, don't include it on anything that looks like a formal invitation (because that is confusing to guests). Mention it on your website as a casual event, or just spread the info through word of mouth at your wedding.

As a guest I would prefer a separate card with info or add it to the details card. That is , if you are unable to have the extra hour added to the reception so guests don’t have to navigate to another location under the influence in an area they may be unfamiliar with.

I'd either put the information on your wedding website (and help spread the news by word of mouth), or include it on a separate insert!!

Here are a few wording examples from Zazzle:
