Aflac and Pregnancy?

Roberta, on December 18, 2017 at 11:07 AM Posted in Married Life 0 18

Has anyone used Aflac for maternity leave? There website is confusing and I don't really understand how it works in regard to missing work for the birth of your child. Does anyone have any experience or advice?

I am not pregnant now, just looking at my options.

I thought Aflac was for emergencies and not for maternity leaves. Have you called them?

I know Aflac has pieces for hospitalization and surgery. It's been a while since I used it's coverage so I would definitely contact a representative that can give you more specific information. I didn't get it for pregnancyso I didn't look into whether maternity was included. But I do know you can get replacement income for being out of work for a medical reason.

This is weird, this post was removed but I guess its back up? Weird.

But anyways, they have a short-term disability plan which apparently covers maternity leave. I have called the agent that works with my employer but I am waiting to hear back.

This post is relationship/married life related because it pertains to having a baby. That's why it's still up I'm guessing.

Sometimes with Aflac there's a waiting period before you can apply for benefits, or if your have had a certain procedure in 2017, you have to wait a full year before claiming the same benefit through aflac, i don't know if that covers pregnancy.

Just went through this last year. Its a ten month wait period to use the policy for maternity leave. Same goes if you were to increase your benefits next year. If you broke your leg and needed it tomorrow no biggie, pop a kid out and they make you wait.
