2021 Bachelorette and Covid

Clara, on January 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4
Our wedding is in May of 2022 and my MOH is on top of Bachelorette planning. She has been looking forward to this for the entirety of my fiance and I's relationship. However, she is really optimistic about Covid and is planning big options in cities that we can go out in. I want a bachelorette weekend in a city to go out in to, that's my idea of a fun bachelorette but I'm less optimistic. I don't want to plan this event to only have Covid get worse in the next year and we spend the money to not have the option to explore a city or we can't really experience the city. I'm thinking maybe I should do a low key rent a beach house and have a stay in bachelorette party instead? Is anyone planning a fall of 2021 /winter 2022 bachelorette party?

    Hey Clara!

My MOH is thinking of having my bach trip fall/winter of 2021, some ideas we've come up with were the beach house rental, or a cabin in the mountains then go to a winery.

A beach house in a fun beach town/city is a great idea because you'll have a lot of entertainment by the ocean, great views, and often times a lot of houses on the beach are walking distance to bars, restaurants etc. A mountain cabin is also a fun idea because you and your girls can have a fun night in, but can also go to wineries, orchards, etc.

If you really want to do the big city option, I would confirm with any places you have to rent or reserve, that they allow refunds in case things are cancelled due to the pandemic.

Is there a reason the party would be so early? Usually, bachelorette parties aren't until 2-3 months before the wedding, so yours wouldn't' be until Jan. 2022 at the earliest. My suggestion is to stick with the regular bachelorette party timeline and simply wait it out. It's too early to know what the rest of this year will look like or early next year. You will be able to find lots of options in the late fall to plan for an early spring 2022 party and by late fall of this year we will know more about the situation. Have you talked to the BP about the party generally? Is everyone willing to travel (with or w/o covid?) Set a budget? It's even early to have chosen your BP, which typically isn't done until a year out, so not until May 2021.

What you are dreading or fearful of happened to me! We planned my bachelorette to Nashville in the beginning of April 2020 bc we were convinced everything would be fine! We live in NY and with the quarantine requirements 75% of my bridesmaids and two aunts couldn’t come bc of work. We just moved it to a college town in PA after everyone has collectively lost $300+ between flight credits (bc we couldn’t get refunds) and we only got 50% back of the $3000 we put down for an Airbnb in Nashville. My advice is stay local. My twin is getting married in October 2021 and we booked to go to the Jersey shore to be safe. Learn from our mistake of being optimistic!!! You can find fun stuff to do anywhere! Doesnt need to be a big city.

Agreed with Katelyn - way too early to think about a bachelorette party. You should avoid booking anything now and wait until the end of the year to start thinking about options and see what things look like in regards to covid. But I do think she's being a bit optimistic thinking everything will be completely open by the end of the year. I would go with more of a low key route to avoid disappointment and loss of any deposits.
