1 year anniversary in quarantine

Gen, on April 20, 2020 at 10:15 AM Posted in Married Life 0 21
I seriously can’t believe we are only 6 weeks away from our 1 year wedding anniversary! That being said, we had hypothetical plans to do a trip for our anniversary but obviously that is not going to happen now. Not sure how much of the quarantine will be lifted by then (if any) but we definitely won’t be traveling and even if restaurants are open by then, I’m not sure we’d want to actually go eat out.

For those of you celebrating anniversaries during quarantine, how are you making the day special? (Or for those of you who aren’t, but have ideas lol.) We’re trying to make plans assuming nothing is open again—so plans limited to staying in the house, or perhaps going somewhere outdoors weather-permitting.

Maybe make a romantic meal together? You could make something inspired by where you went on your honeymoon or another vacation together? Spend some quarantine time making a gift, like a photo album of your first year of marriage? We had a “date” making up cocktails which was fun! If possible I would definitely try and go for a walk somewhere relaxing so you can enjoy spending time together out of the house.

That’s a good idea thanks! We live about an hour from the beach so I am really hoping we’re allowed to go there and that it’s nice enough weather to go for a walk on the beach. But also trying not to get my hopes up about that if it rains or if we can’t go for some reason.

We were trying to think of ideas too since it's unlikely our original idea of going on a little vacation is out the window lol. Some of the fancier restaurants are delivering due to the shutdown, so we were thinking of maybe ordering in from one of those and just having a nice meal at home. I would love if the beach opens up, but I doubt Murphy will open it until everything is ok given the situation in Florida right now. We've also joked that we're just going to postpone everything and just go to Atlantic City or Crystal Springs when everything goes back to normal (we both turn 30 this year to so my birthday was canceled and his is in June so it may be as well). So all our big celebrations have been put on hold.

We are in the same situation. Our first anniversary is in 4 weeks and we were suppose to leave on May 11 for Turks and Caicos since we never took our honeymoon. Instead we are spending it at home and will do a specula meal and enjoy a quiet evening together. Making the best of it.

Order your favorite takeout, throw on some soft music, get all dressed up and have a nice candle lit dinner at home. Bonus if you have a patio or deck and can eat outside. No it is not the ideal celebration but it could work.

We were planning to go on our belated honeymoon this summer as well but instead we’re just going to keep waiting it out. I am grateful we already had our dream wedding when so many people have had to postpone or cancel, so I don’t mind waiting longer for the other special stuff. I wouldn’t put too much pressure on it right now since the country is shut down there’s not a lot you can do.

Oh yeah for sure! I’m so grateful we were able to have our wedding last year and I can’t even imagine how awful it must be for other brides to have to cancel or postpone 😓 of course putting anniversary plans on hold is much preferable to putting wedding plans on hold, but just trying to figure out how to make the day as special as we can given the circumstances.

Our first wedding anniversary is in 4 weeks. We had booked a trip to Vegas in July, but that may not work out. Hard to know at this point if any of the events we planned to attend will still happen. Our Wedding cake bakery is still taking taking orders during the quarantine, so we ordered a small cake to share on our anniversary.

I totally agree. I’m perfectly happy at home with my husband. We have our first grandchild on the way this week so we have new things to look forward too.

It's not our anniversary - just 8 months married - at the end of this week, but we're going to splurge and order take out from a local restaurant. I might bake something special, too, since we both have the time. I just suggested to DH that we dress up a bit, to make it special.

So, yeah, make yourselves a nice little date where ever you can be, take some fun pictures, maybe watch your wedding video, if you have one?

    Do something fun and silly!

Hahaha, we had SO much leftover (our cake was made for 120 people, and our baker rounded up, but we only had 98 attend!) so we ended up eating some after the honeymoon, some for my husband's birthday (2 months after the wedding) and then some for my brother's birthday (2 weeks after husband's birthday) and at that point we had just a little left and were sooo sick of cake by then lmao so we decided to just save the last slices. It felt silly to save the entire top tier since I figure it won't be very good after a year which is why we already ate most of it within a few months... but just saved a couple pieces for tradition's sake.

Yes that sounds great! We just watched our whole wedding video with my husband's grandma (who hadn't been able to make it to the wedding so it was her first time seeing it) in March so we've seen it pretty recently, but maybe we'll want to watch it again by then Smiley smile

That sounds fun! I actually just ordered an album of photos from our engagement and pre-wedding events (like from the night we got engaged, me trying on dresses, bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette parties, up through the rehearsal dinner) and I'm working on one from our honeymoon so maybe I'll save those to give to him then.

We're in New Jersey too! Yeah I'm hoping we'll be able to go to the beach by June... not even to hang out for the day or anything, just to take a socially-distanced walk lol. Hopefully by then we can.

That could be good. Any excuse to not wear sweatpants at this point, right? Lol. Today I put on yoga pants and my husband asked why I was dressed up lmao. How standards have changed...

Ok so for my FH's and I anniversary we did breakfast in bed. (well I cooked)

we took a virtual dance class which was funny as hell. we laughed boy did we laugh. We played games in the house. We did a hand holding mold. He played video games rest of afternoon.

I secretly ordered dinner from our favorite restaurant and had a mutual friend of ours get him a special scotch he liked. I sent him a calendar invite for dinner at 8pm to dress his best. while he was showering I laid out gifts for him lit candles at the dining room table and was wearing a new outfit for him. Lets just say that they day was special and we ate cold food for breakfast the next morning. You gotta make the best of things.
