Is it bad thing that I have done nothing wedding wise other then put deposit down on venue

I am getting married in April 2018 on A Friday so I know I will need to send out my invitations a little early so people can work out schedules. When do you think would be a good time to do so?

When is to early to start looking at dresses

I need to pick a date I have no idea how long to wait or even what season to have it in.
