I cannot say enough good things about Essie. She is friendly, funny, and has a natural gift for putting you at ease on what can be a stressful day. She understood exactly what I wanted for my look without me having to over-explain, and she was present and supportive throughout the entire wedding.
The compliments kept coming — my bridesmaids and family were thrilled with how their makeup turned out too. The whole team was fantastic. The quality of the work was so impressive that friends have taken her makeup recommendations, and one is already trying to book her for her upcoming wedding.

From the moment I reached out to Essie for a makeup trial, she was helpful, quick to respond, and professional. She knew exactly what look I was going for at my trial and went above and beyond. I knew immediately after that I wanted to hire her, as not only did I love the way my makeup looked but I loved hanging out with Essie! She is truly the best and is so much fun to be around. Leading up to my wedding, I was nervous about having makeup done for myself + my 14 bridesmaids, however Essie assured that she had it under control and she 100% did! Essie did my makeup at my brother's Bar Mitzvah years ago, and I knew she was perfect to do my wedding makeup. On my wedding day, I felt beautiful, but I also felt like myself. I had done my bridal trial with her and she took all my feedback and my makeup for the actual wedding was perfect. I have had professional makeup done before and literally nothing compares. The best ever!!
Essie and team were so amazing throughout our entire wedding planning process. She and Nadia answered all of my questions timely, handled all of the coordination of our day and schedule, and even ensured our timeline fit with our hairdresser. Essie and Riley were such amazing personalities to have with us during our getting ready time. My makeup stayed all day long (from 8 AM to 2 AM!!). Essie even brought a speaker and had everyone dancing early in the morning. The touch-up kit was such a nice touch. I would use Essie again in a heartbeat!!! I can’t recommend her enough!

Essie was a referral from my cousin who also used Essie on her wedding day, as did her friends. From trial to wedding day, Essie was amazing to work with, passionate, caring, and brought the vibes. Essie was an absolute pleasure to work with from the trial through the day of the wedding. She arrived early and brought a wonderful assistant with her to help with prepping the bridal party's skin and it felt like a great facial massage. The makeup was perfection and everything I ever dreamed of for my wedding makeup. Essie even gave the entire bridal party kids of lipsticks to use throughout the celebration. Working with Essie was like working with a good friend, nearly instantly! I don't wear heavy makeup on a regular basis, so Essie's style was perfect for me. She was able to enhance my natural features with makeup and at no point did I feel like it was heavy or caked on, as I've felt when having my makeup done by other makeup artists. Essie is also super thoughtful, she sent an adorable care package before the wedding and on the day of she brought everything I'd need for touch ups, etc. I would love to work with Essie again when in need of professional makeup.

Essie was my makeup artist for my June 22, 2024 wedding, and I simply cannot recommend her enough. She is thoughtful, kind, and incredibly professional with her brides. Though she has done hundreds (or maybe even thousands?) of weddings, she took the time to personalize my look for ME, and to encourage me to be honest if I wanted any tweaks. Her energy is so calm and positive- the exact thing you need in a hectic bridal suite. She worked FAST and even kept us ahead of schedule- which I believe is unheard of for the wedding day! Her assistant Riley made skin prep a total dream, and many of my bridesmaids said it was the best professional makeup they've ever received. Booking with Essie is a no-brainer!

So grateful for the entire Essie Cohen team!
Makeup was definitely a top priority for this same-sex couple with 2 brides as we wanted to find artists we both loved, who were easy to work with/communicate with, and also reasonably priced (since there was 2 of us with 2 female bridal parties - total of 13 individuals). While Essie was already booked on our wedding day, she connected us with her team who made us feel beautiful and flawless for our big day in September 2023. We knew we wanted makeup on our wedding day that still allowed us to look like ourselves but more elevated. Our makeup trial was a great experience getting to meet Carolyn and we loved how beautiful and confident we felt. Between the trial and wedding day, I had some tweaks I wanted to make and had some questions about products, etc., and Carolyn was so quick to reply and assure me that she had all my notes, updates, and everything would be perfect, which it was. Leading up to our wedding day, Nadia (the office manager) was so organized and easy to communicate with. She also helped us create a day-of schedule. Daniela was our second stylist who was so lovely, and she did an amazing job making our bridesmaids, mothers and grandmother look and feel gorgeous. Courtney, the makeup assistant, was a huge help in getting all of us prepped and ready for makeup and such a calming presence! Carolyn perfectly executed both our bridal styles and we are so happy with our decision to go with Essie Cohen! We also used Britt Bridal for hair and highly recommend using them together as they've worked together in the past and work so well with on another. Also leading up to the wedding, Essie surprised us and mailed both of us beauty kits to help stay calm the week leading up to the wedding which was such an amazing little touch and why it's important to support small business owners. Essie is the absolute best. She is pure perfection when it comes to make up - making you look the most natural and flawless at the same time. She is exceptional - you don't even need to tell her a direction, she just gets it without a word.

Exactly what we wanted
Essie and team were just what we needed on my wedding day.
I had gone for a separate makeup trial and was told “oh you’re just not used to wearing makeup, you’ll get used to it” in response to my unenthused expression at a final look created by another makeup artist.
I met Essie a few weeks later and she immediately made me feel not only at ease, but excited about my wedding day makeup. I had a natural look, and felt like an elevated version of myself. My bridesmaids, mom, and mother in law all loved how their makeup turned out as well.

Essie is the BEST!!
Where do I even begin to sing the praises of my favorite human being, Essie! Essie and I hit it off immediately at my wedding makeup trial, talking all things Bravo and VPR #TeamArianna.
I was the luckiest girl in the world that she was available on my wedding day to not only do my makeup as well as some friends and family, but also to start my day on the best note and get us pumped up for the big day ahead!
My makeup was FLAWLESS! After looking at myself in the mirror I quite literally said out loud "Wow!" Essie and her team are the most fun and organized, keeping everyone on track and sticking to the timeline, while bringing out all of the natural beauty.
I now get to use special events going forward as an excuse to go back to Essie and hang out to get my makeup done, one because she's perfect at her craft, but more importantly, because I can truly call her a friend. Love you Essie!!

I couldn't have been happier that I found Essie. I don't wear makeup often so I don't know much about what I'm looking for but she nailed the look based on what I liked and the vibe I was going for! My sisters and friends do wear makeup and know a lot more and we're equally happy with their service. My friend even said it was the first time she didn't redo her makeup after getting it done! I had the best experience using Essie Cohen for makeup for my wedding. All of my bridesmaids LOVED, as did I, and we all loved spending time with her the day of our wedding. If you're looking for fantastic wedding day makeup, go with Essie. She delivered on everything I asked for. I had done a previous makeup trial with someone else and did not look like myself even though I asked for a natural look. When I told Essie that I was looking for a natural yet elegant look, she absolutely nailed it. Where do I begin?! I cannot give Essie and her team enough praise for making me feel like the most beautiful bride!
I had previously booked another makeup artist for my wedding and as I got closer I started to get cold feet. My sister-in-law recommended Essie after she did her makeup in another wedding, so I reached out to Essie in hopes she would be available. Essie and her team were so prompt to reply and schedule a trial. From the second I walked into the trial I knew I would be booking Essie. She has an ease to her and really knows her stuff!
Prior to the wedding day, Essie was so on top of her game sending a full breakdown and schedule of how the day would go. Come the wedding day, Essie and her team arrived early and stayed on track the entire time. My entire bridesmaid party said how they have never seen that before!
Your hair and make-up team is so vital, they really set the tone for the rest of the day. I cannot say enough about Essie and her team! They truly set the tone for the rest of the day and made everything go flawless and easy. Not to mention every single girl looked absolutely stunning!!!! Essie is a true professional.
I have had numerous people reach out to me asking who did my make-up and have already recommended Essie to numerous people. I recommend Essie to every single bride I know. You are in the best hands with her!

Essie made this experience amazing, from the original meeting all the way to my wedding day. I'm not one to wear a lot of makeup, but she made me feel beautiful without making me feel like I was wearing a ton of makeup. All my bridesmaids, my mom and my mother-in-law looked incredible. Essie's make up skills are in a class in their own. She made me and my bridal party look so gorgeous. She was able to match a wide range of skin tones and make everyone's make up look natural and beautiful.
What is more important is how EASY to is to work with Essie. She made me feel so comfortable on the day. Got to the venue EARLY! and is so fun and easy to talk to. Her booking process is seamless. She goes above and beyond for you - she sent me a giftbox of goodies BEFORE my wedding to help me relax and have my skin looking perfect. She will also give you recommendations to use in the months leading up to your wedding to make sure you look great.
On the day of she gives you a survival kit which is SO helpful of all the things you will forget on the day of (like fashion tape and tide wipes).

Essie is amazing!! She and her assistant, Riley, came to a salon to do all of my bridesmaids' makeup at the same time we were getting our hair done. She was flexible, calm, nice, and overall could not recommend her more. She even sent a cute box of goodies to help me relax the week of the wedding. If you go to her house for a trial, she has two extremely cute dogs which is just an overall plus. I truly could not recommend Essie and her team enough!

She was so easy to coordinate with leading up to the event (and with my trial before booking) and she and her team brought such an amazing, excited and calming energy to the day for me and my bridesmaids. We had 14 people doing makeup and Essie was so efficient, relaxed and professional. All of my bridesmaids looked beautiful and were all raving to me about their makeup. You Won't Regret Booking Essie Cohen
Essie and her wonderful office manager, Nadia, were extremely proactive and hands-on during my wedding planning process, providing me with thoughtful guidance to ensure my timeline day-of would be seamless. Karina was my makeup artist and OMG was she amazing. My bridal party looked stunning and I couldn't have been happier with how I looked. I am picky with makeup and am not used to wearing a lot, but Karina nailed it. She perfectly recreated the look we landed on during our trial. Karina was also such a joy to be around - really down to earth and a calming presence (the vibe you want on your wedding day!). Essie’s team was recommended by a friend who did my sister’s wedding hair and makeup and I’m so happy she did! From the trial with Haley, I knew she would be the best fit for making me & my bridal party feel confident and beautiful on my wedding day, especially for us girls who want to look like ourselves and natural. The products she used lasted the entire day and night, through sweat and (happy) tears. Essie Cohen Makeup = The BEST wedding decision you will make
I knew that Essie and her team had to be a part of my wedding before I got engaged, she did my sister's wedding 5 years earlier. As soon as we started looking at dates, I consulted Essie to make sure that she was available. Having Essie and her team was essential to the day running smoothly and everyone looking and feeling their best. Essie is experienced, organized and knows what she is doing. Not only did all my ladies feel and look beautiful, our makeup lasted ALL day on a HOT Sunday in the middle of the summer.
I have a lot of skin allergies and Essie worked with me in the lead up to my wedding day to make sure that everything would be perfect. Her knowledge, patience, experience and kindness know, no bounds. She now has her own makeup line, which is full of incredible products.
Wedding morning can be stressful, but getting to our venue to find Essie and her team setup and ready to go was so calming. Felt Beautiful on the Best Day of My Life
I had such a wonderful experience with Essie! Not only did she arrive early, answer all my questions during the process (trial to wedding day), have the best wedding day playlist...the day of the wedding, she made my whole wedding party feel beautiful and relaxed. Riley was also there with us and was wonderful. We all had such a great time chatting as we each got ready and everything flowed so smoothly. Essie is a truly EXCEPTIONAL human being. The moment I met her, we had an instant connection and I felt so relaxed in her presence. Essie and her team helped to make my rehearsal dinner and my big day perfect. She made myself, my bridesmaids, and family look and feel their absolute best. Throughout the process, Essie was supportive, quick to respond to emails and extremely organized. Essie and her team had 15 faces to do, which caused me a bit if stress. However, she got the job done with extra time to spare. Each bridesmaid had personal conversations with her while music was playing, which added an extra level of FUN to the day. She and her team took the time to apply the proper makeup to each face and differentiated based on what each girl wanted. The best part was that each girl, including myself, looked naturally beautiful and no one had that too much makeup look. Essie cares deeply about her clients and they become more than just clients to her - Essie will now be my go to for any future event as well as my bridesmaids future events (fun fact: she is doing my sister AND my best friends makeup for their weddings now!). I didn't have to say anything the day of the wedding, and she knew exactly what she needed to do. I have had my makeup done now as a bridesmaid a few times, and Essie did the best by far. Could not recommend her more.

I hired Essie Cohen for make up services for my wedding. I had postponed my original wedding and Essie was super flexible to work with over this 2 year period. Her lead artist Karina was a pleasure to work with and her team was so professional and fun on my wedding day. They helped my small army of bridesmaids (11 in total) look stunning. THE best makeup artist out there
I was lucky enough to have my makeup done by Essie at my sister-in-law's wedding in September 2018. Once I got engaged, it was a no-brainer that I would reach out to Essie to work with her on my special day. I don't think I have enough words to express how much I adore Essie. From our initial email to her handing me my touch-up kit, she was so professional and a joy to work with. Essie is highly talented, and I loved my wedding trial so much that I had to have her do my makeup for my bridal shower! On my wedding day, my bridesmaids raved about how spectacular they looked, and Essie made me feel like a beautiful bride, but most importantly, I still looked like myself. Essie and her team are exceptionally talented and also make the day for the bride and wedding party so special.
I have known Essie since she first did my makeup during our sweet 16 days. It was a full circle moment for her to be able to do my makeup on my wedding day. Not only is she incredibly warm & makes you feel so special, but everyone's makeup was stunning.
She enhances everyone's natural beauty and makes everyone look like themselves. That was super important for me when picking up a makeup artist for my wedding. I wanted my makeup and all my bridesmaids makeup to feel natural and not cake-y... a beautiful glazed donut, if you will... I have since received so many compliments on everyone's makeup. Truly, everyone looked beautiful. Also Essie can do this with minimal direction. She can look at someone's face and know what to do and how to do it.
It also helps with a big wedding party that Essie works so efficiently. I never felt stressed about timing or if we would get everything done in time.
And on top of all of this, Essie and her team could not be nicer & more helpful. There are a ton of moving parts during a wedding day and Essie goes beyond her scope to make sure things are going smoothly for the bride, mother of the bride & wedding party. Essie calmed me when I got a migraine, made sure I had water, helped my mom get dressed... the list goes on. She was an absolute dream to have by our side on that day.
Choosing Essie to be my makeup artist for my wedding was one of the best decisions I made! I would recommend her to anyone!!

Essie did the makeup for my bridal party in June and did a wonderful job. Everyone walked away feeling beautiful and she helped a few who are younger and more self-conscious. Essie and her team was great from start to finish! Essie came from a recommendation, where there was nothing but positive things said. She does amazing work - she did my makeup, my mother, plus ten bridesmaids. She was done with all 12 of us in less than 4 hours and had us all looking absolutely beautiful! Throughout my wedding day we all received numerous comments on how we all looked beautiful and how natural and glamourous our makeup looked. Not only is she a pro at what she does, but she is also genuinely fun to be around and makes you feel at ease. In addition to me, Essie also did the makeup for my 6 bridesmaids and my mom. I am so happy I chose Essie to do the makeup for my wedding. She was extremely efficient, finishing my large wedding party AHEAD of schedule, she came prepared with a fun getting ready playlist, and most importantly she managed to make me and my 11 other girls (age 5 to 65) look and feel absolutely beautiful. We all looked like the best version of ourselves, and that confidence that she gave us was a true gift. If you're on the fence, this is your sign to book Essie. She came so highly recommended to me by local friends and thank goodness we booked her because she was such an integral part of our wedding experience. Incredible and lovely to be around. We had 2 brides, 2 mother-of-the-brides and 6 bridesmaids, and each person had a unique style. Essie adapted to the wants of everyone and was so receptive to feedback and visions. She also skillfully de-escalated some wedding day chaos, simply by being so good at communicating (and her cool and a cucumber demeanor.) I highly recommend the trial to get to know one another and she even gives great lead up tips about beauty prep (as well as some mental prepping which is more important.) She made us look like us, which was a huge relief. We called it "us plus." I can't stress enough how skilled she is. A million thank yous.

Don’t hesitate, book her ASAP!
WOW! That was my first impression of Essie from scouting her out on the internet and I was even more blown away after meeting her in person. Essie is phenomenally talented, easy to work with, and fun to be around. She did my wedding makeup trial for my engagement pictures since I wanted to see how the makeup photographed. The makeup looked fantastic in the pictures and I knew I made the right decision. As the wedding approached in Jan 2021, NYC had a second surge of COVID cases. Essie had no problem taking extra precautions of getting COVID tested, wearing a mask, making sure the make-up was sanitized, and willing to still do onsite makeup. Also, she is fun to be around, made all the women in my wedding party comfortable, gave recommendations on make up looks (including urging someone away from the dark purple lipstick color, thank you!!), and even skeptical bridesmaids were impressed. I highly recommend Essie and hands down will use her again in the future.

Working with Essie and her team was truly one of the best parts of our wedding day. She is such a blast to get ready with, and she really knows everything when it comes to makeup. We did a trial before the wedding to make sure we were on the same page, then she totally ran the show on the day of our wedding and made me, my mom, and the bridesmaids look absolutely stunning. I was seriously getting compliments at our afterparty (literally 12 hours after she did my make-up) about how perfect it still looked! Truly incredible.

Essie is simply the best! I had a lot of difficulty finding a makeup artist who could make me look natural, yet enhanced. I was continually disappointed by other artists, who made me feel so "made up" and not like myself.
Then came Essie. She is so talented! My bridal party was raving about her all morning. She knows just what to do without instruction and made me feel natural and gorgeous on my wedding day.
She is also incredibly fun to work with. She was super thoughtful -- sending a care package and tips before the wedding and devoting a ton of time helping me create my morning wedding schedule. On the wedding day, she was constantly looking out for me. All of her little touches made a big difference.

Essie was recommended to me by a few people I know - I knew I needed to hire her because all of their wedding photos came out absolutely amazing and they all looked gorgeous. Essie did not disappoint!! She was sooo easy to work with - I described what look I wanted and she nailed it on the first try at my trial, and then recreated the look perfectly for my wedding. I don't wear too much makeup usually so I just wanted a nice, natural, sun-kissed look - she did exactly that, and it stayed perfectly intact all day long. She's so cool and personable too, feel like she's a long time friend at this point!! Definitely hire Essie for your wedding - it will be the best decision!!!!
