We really enjoyed having Leora as our officiant. We wanted someone who we felt was exceptional at public speaking, and through watching a few of her videos, we felt like she embodied what we were looking for. Leora is very responsive to emails. We had an initial phone call with Leora, then a few months later she sent us a draft that we went over and made revisions/comments. About 2 months before the wedding we met in person to go over wedding details and the final draft. On our wedding day, we were so happy with our ceremony and our guests complimented Leora’s officiating.

Incredible Officiant
Leora officiated our wedding in September of 2022. The ceremony was an intimate event with 25 family members at an outdoor garden. Leora did an amazing job! We loved working with Leora to finalize the script, she did an amazing job personalizing the ceremony and easily accommodated our requests. During the ceremony, Leora spoke with an authenticity that resonated with our family. Leora was also extremely helpful in getting our marriage certificate from the District of Columbia. She made sure we submitted our request on time and submitted the final certificate to the local government. I cannot recommend Leora enough as a wedding officiant!

I cannot say enough good things about Leora! My husband and I decided in late 2019 that we didn't want to wait until our July 2020 wedding to get married. Leora performed an intimate ceremony with us in Old Town Alexandria on a cold and wet day in October. She then took the time to get coffee with us, and learn more about our relationship in a small shop after she married us. Fast forward and our July 2020 wedding was postponed. Leora was flexible and understanding as we needed to push our date to 2021. It's the little things that matter. The emails she sends around the Holiday's checking in on us, and the fact that she called our planner to find out what color the bridesmaids were wearing so she could match. She incorporated a military prayer and really tailored our vows so that they were personal to us and our families. Leora is just a delightful person, kind, thoughtful and a pleasure to work with!

Leora officiated our wedding on March 29, 2021. As with all weddings, some things went wrong that day, but what was perfect was Leora’s handling of our ceremony. We liked her from our first discussion, and she made us comfortable from the start – which is important considering we wouldn’t meet her until our wedding day. She was the only officiant we spoke with – we knew she was the one!
Leora made the ceremony script process easy. She accommodated all of our requests and went out of her way to make us feel at ease. Her command of the schedule, impeccable timing, sense of humor, and overall love for her role as our officiant kept us calm and relaxed on an excitable day. It was a clear, cold, and windy day, but Leora’s warmness made all the difference.

The perfect officiant for us!
It meant so much to us to have Leora officiate our wedding ceremony. Her warmth and generosity of spirit are palpable. She worked with us to accommodate COVID safety concerns, a quick time frame, and even an injured bride-to-be! Leora pronounced us wife and wife on a beautiful January day, on our back porch, and with words that suited us so well. Our three dogs sat quietly inside, intently watching their moms get married, and greeted Leora beautifully afterwards. It’s was a very high stress situation all around due to covid but she was very patient throughout the entire process. From our initial contact, she answered all of our questions. She was tolerant of the fact that we were a same sex couple. On the day of our wedding, we were running late, but she didn’t fuss with us. She made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. From our first phone consultation, Leora listened carefully to our preferences, and was extremely easy to talk to. We had no idea what we wanted in a ceremony, and she helped walk us through some options, and crafted a script that was personalized and very much our style. We loved the simple vows that she used, and she included a beautiful note of remembrance for my husband's father. It was clear that she really loves this job, and puts careful time and intention into crafting a meaningful ceremony for each couple.
Fast forward to the Tuesday before our Saturday wedding date, and we had to change the venue (again) due to covid restrictions. I tearfully wrote an email to Leora bringing her up to date on the situation, and she responded within minutes. Her email brought a wave of calm over me. She suggested several alternate venues, and reassured us that everything would work out. She was right!
On the day itself, she was professional, calm, and flexible (when some of our guests were running late). She really does believe in being present for each couple, and making the most of everyone's special day. Our day would not have been the same without her, and I cannot recommend her highly enough!

My now-husband and I had the privilege of having Leora officiate our wedding all the way back in 2014 - as it comes up on our anniversary, I like to re-read our vows that were crafted with Leora and I feel very grateful to have had her guide our ceremony. She dealt with cancellations, an out of town husband-to-be and, and my scheduling issues with grace and ease - even when I did not! When I first met with Leora on the wedding day, my family had ended up at the wrong venue an hour away :) and I was very anxious, and just her calming presence was more than I deserved. Mrs. Willis was so accommodating at the last minute. I believe I called her within the week of the wedding due to things changing and people canceling. She was able to squeeze me into her schedule, in which I was soo grateful for. She went over everything with me. Was such a joy to have as an officiant. She really left an outstanding impression on us, with small jokes that had the guests and the wedding party really be engaged in the ceremony!! Superb Service
I recommend Leora Willis without reservation. Leora was proactive and responsive in all aspects of officiating our marriage during COVID-19. She guided us to apply for our marriage license, provided templates and readings for us to choose from, drafted our entire ceremony script without prompting, and then patiently incorporated last minute requests for personalization without complaint. Leora would do well officiating both secular and religious weddings. She was punctual, and kept the ceremony to the scheduled time, and filed our marriage certificate without delay. On the day of the wedding, Leora referenced the personality traits of my groom helping our wedding guests feel even more connected to us. This was especially unique because we had never met before and only corresponded by email! Leora has a calm and engaging demeanor and a clear public speaking voice. It was clear that she was emotionally invested in blessing our marriage. It was an honor to work with Leora as she is truly gifted. She is the best in her industry.

Last Minute Nuptials
My now wife and I had planned to wed on a date that fell within the time frame of the Stay at Home orders so we were forced to postpone. As the bans were lifted we began to discuss viable options when on late Sunday evening we decided to marry on June 19, 2020, a mere five days later. We began by immediately emailing all of the officiants (>30) on the list we received from the circuit court when we obtained our first license. We weren't just
looking for someone who was available on such short notice, but also someone who answered favorably to a few questions we had surrounding the celebration of Pride and the historic date known as Juneteenth. A few were unavailable while others commented in a way that led us to believe they did not support same sex marriage, but were honoring the oath they took to uphold the law. We had narrowed it down to three and on Monday we chose Leora Willis mainly because of her level of engagement
with us, as we had several more questions for the prospects, and also her enthusiasm and appreciation for being considered.
Choosing her ended up being one of the best decisions we made as she turned into a valuable resource, especially when trying to select a venue. She was able to provide insider tips for some of the areas we were contemplating which turned out to be spot on, no doubt attributed to her experience in the business. As the date approached we were monitoring weather patterns and asked if she would be flexible if we needed to change the time in order to avoid the forecasted thunderstorms. She said that would not be a problem and to let her know what we decided. Initially we were targeting a 6pm start which was modified to 7pm, but neither time panned out. She was the epitome of a person exercising patience and flexibility because the day of the ceremony, not only did we ask to push the start time up 2 hours, but also a change in location to an area that would provide shelter from the predicted storm showers for not only us, but our handful of guests and photographers. Leora came through yet again as she made a suggestion of two locations that would provide just that for us to choose from.
Leora was definitely attentive and it was evident in the words she wrote about us for our ceremony. You would not have known that we had only become aware of each other's existence only five days prior. She was the icing on the cake when it came to fulfilling the vision we had for our union. It was a pleasure working with her and we are grateful for the value she brought to the table.

I can't tell you how many people came up to us after the ceremony and were gushing about our vows! Leora met my husband and I for an hour before we hired her, and in that hour she managed to put together such a special ceremony for us. Our wedding felt so unique and individual to us, with all of the references to things we enjoy. After meeting with a few officiants, we immediately fell in love with Leora's kindness, grace, ability to connect and her pretty spot on read of my husband and I - all in our first meeting. She wrote a beautiful ceremony early in the process that allowed us to take our time editing it to feel even more true to us, and even time to do a few rounds! She was always quick to respond via email and offer suggestions of resources and readings. Come rehearsal and wedding day, she read the guests perfectly and performed the ceremony succinctly (it was cold!!) and passionately. I even said an unfortunate curse word in the middle of our ceremony when I realized my soon to be husband memorized the vows he'd written that morning (terrible of me!) and she took it stride. She was such an integral part of our wedding day and made it such a special ceremony. I received so many compliments about her during the reception. I will always think of Leora fondly when I think of our wedding. I highly recommend you include her in your wedding experience!!

I couldn't recommend using Leora Willis more. My husband and I are inter-racial and inter-faith and used Leora for out pre-marital counseling along with officiating our wedding. She immediately put us at ease and really felt like family. We were so comfortable with her and felt she was really invested in US as a couple. With the difference my husband and I have, there were a lot of topics that had been discussed already that Leora really helped us dig deeper in to. Both parties felt heard and valued even when she needed to give one of us some tough love. Having her complete our counseling and then officiate our wedding made it that much more special. She KNEW us and it was great having her a part of our special day.

Leora and her company with this ring... were quite simply the best single decision we made throughout the whole wedding vendor process. She came with an excellent recommendation from our planner and we were not dissapointed. Leora helped give confidence and professionalism to our special day
We were very pleased to work with Leora. From start to finish, she was extremely professional and gave us the support we needed to make it through our busy day. Working together we developed a wedding script that was unique, creative, and meaningful, but also succinct and well organized. She did a great job of interjecting comedy at the right moments to relieve the inevitable tension and anxiety of such a momentous occasion. She also made a point to get to know us and specifically give words of reassurance to the bride and groom to guide us through the event. The only constructive feedback we can give is to confirm the correct pronunciation the family surnames prior to the event. She is great and we really appreciated having her there at such a special time for the family!

Absolutely Amazing
Let’s start by saying that from the moment we contacted Leora, we felt we made the perfect choice. At the time, my fiance and I were living over 4,000 miles apart (Hawaii and Maryland). Leora was willing to meet at local coffee shop and facetime my fiance for our first consult.
She is sooo friendly and sweet, we literally felt like family.
She offered recommendations and was very helpful throughout the entire process. She is thoughtful, thorough and fun. You can really see that she loves what she does. Our ceremony was perfect and we could not have imagined it without her. Thank you soooo much Leora!!

We made a great choice, and you should too.
Leora was a phenomenal officiant from beginning to end. She met with us well in advance on two occasions (over the phone, and in person) to really get to know us, which really shined through on our wedding day. We had a couple of special requests (like infusing song lyrics into the closing remarks) and she was extremely flexible. Several of our guests commented on how awesome she was, and we couldn't agree more.

Couldn’t have been better.
It was clear from the start that Leora’s #1 goal was to make us happy and boy did she! As a same sex couple, we felt safe and heard. All of our family members commented on Leora and how fantastic she was. Without a doubt, we recommend!

Leora was fantastic to work with and we couldn't have asked for a better officiant on our wedding day. Leora is extremely organized and a great listener. She did a wonderful job officiating our ceremony- it was personalized and seamlessly flowed together. We would highly HIGHLY recommend Leora.

Highly recommend Leora!
Leora was able to capture exactly what we wanted our ceremony to be! She wrote a beautiful ceremony using elements that were meaningful to us and delivered it in such a beautiful way during the day of our wedding- not one dry eye in the room! She is a very sweet person and we were honored to have her marry us! Our guests and vendors had nothing but wonderful things to say about Leora! I highly recommend her!

Gorgeous personalized ceremony
Leora gave us the most beautiful ceremony! She really took the time and effort to get to know us and customized her script specifically to us. She suggested readings that really spoke to what she had observed in us as individuals and as a couple. She responded so wonderfully to feedback during the revision process, and had so much patience when we went back and forth on a few things. I really feel like we have a new friend in her. Leora was absolutely fantastic. My now husband and I had the opportunity to meet up and see if we all “flowed” and as soon as we left her we both smiled at each other knowing it was the best fit. Leora sent us a few drafts that we could pick from or piece together. She made them incredibly personal - keeping in mind our want for a shorter ceremony and our love for family and our cats! She was easy to get a hold of and was early for the ceremony. My husband was a bit nervous and stumbled a time or two but she kept us going and went with the flow. She met us afterwards and seemed truly happy for us. I couldn’t thank her more for a fantastic ceremony.

Leora was the first and only officiant that my husband and I met with, she came highly recommended by our wedding planner Delia-Anne and she did not disappoint. She took the time to truly get to know my husband and I, we left the first meeting with Leora knowing that we were confident she was the perfect person to marry us. I would highly recommend any couple to work with Leora, she makes you feel very comfortable and truly made the ceremony amazing.

Leora was amazing! We met her a couple of weeks before the ceremony and she took her time to really get to know us and understand our relationship. She has a very comforting and relaxing nature that makes you want to tell her everything. She sent us drafts of her ceremony speech so that we could make edits and the final product went beyond that. She used our edits to get a feel of what we liked and made the ceremony beautiful, natural, and completely us.

My husband and I selected all of our vendors through internet browsing -- Wedding Wire and The Knot -- if you are reading this, you probably know what I'm talking about. This can be incredibly overwhelming. Reading reviews, clicking through photos, wondering if the reviews are actually correct, or even written by real people. We found ourselves in a pinch for an officiant, because it was a component of our wedding our families really wanted; neither of us are religious, so we didn't already have connections to someone who could fill the role. We found Leora and With This Ring I Thee Wed, and all of the reviews we read were really great, and sounded genuine. I contacted Leora and we just talked that first night. I immediately felt drawn to her calmness, and thoughtful questions. She took the time to get to know us, and our little family, and incorporated little pieces of our life into her script. Leora really takes the time to get things right, she was very responsive, and she offered tips and pointers here and there when we asked- and they were all really great. From start to finish, she was a gift. This is my honest review: all of our guests were truly touched by her words on our wedding day, and many of our guests took the time to tell us how wonderful she was. I hope this review helps others decide to allow Leora to be present on their special day.

I don't even know where to begin, Leora is the crème de la crème of all officiants in the DC area (probably of the world!). We booked Leora way over a year out as we clicked with her instantly at a bridal show at 2941 Restaurant and she would touch base as the months ticked by. It was important to my husband and I that we had someone who not only looked like us, but was also warm and had a 'auntie' like feel - boy did she deliver! We ended up doing pre martial counseling with Leora for a few months before the wedding - and she was even kind enough to schedule an 'emergency meeting' after we had officially wrapped up when family became wedding crazy. As we approached the wedding day she would check in and the three of us crafted the most beautiful ceremony script together as a team, which was important to us, no With This Ring I Thee Wedd ceremony is the same. Leora kept us sane when family and other wedding related pressures were almost too much to handle, she still checks in to this day and we love having her apart of our lives!

Leora was amazing, and she was so responsive, helpful, and warm. She met with us and really made it easy for us throughout the whole process. We had a lovely ceremony at the City Club of Washington. She really understood our love for each other and captured the energy from the room. We were so lucky that she was still available when we found her, and we have made a new lifelong friend. Nothing bad to say for Ms. Willis. She was flexible, responsive, and detail-oriented. It is clear that she cares about the couple getting married and on tailoring the experience to the individual getting married and their preferences. Fare warning: she WILL call you out on your bad jokes :)!

My husband and I were looking for someone to perform our interfaith and interracial marriage. Leora was the perfect fit. She created an incredible wedding ceremony for us, and it was a beautiful balance of our two religious backgrounds. She was always responsive with emails, had great ideas, and we felt like we immediately connected with her when we first met. Leora was professional, responsive, and suggestive when I was lost. My now husband and I enjoyed our meeting with her to discuss particulars of the actual wedding. Her style was very appreciated as she showed us examples of written vows and traditional and untraditional. She even asked about me. How are you? She said. My new wife Michelle and I just love Leora! She was the officiant at our wedding in October 2017, we also did some pre-marital counseling sessions with her leading up to the wedding which we found very helpful for all of us to get to know one another. This really paid off, we had many people that attended tell us after the ceremony they felt like they took a walk through our courtship/relationship. Our wedding was absolutely PERFECT and exactly what we wanted, and Leora was the main reason for that. She is calm, cool, and collected and literally saved me when she noticed I was about to break down during my vows. We both love her and she is more than our officiant now, she is our friend and we plan to keep her in our lives. If you are looking for an officiant and are reading my review, congratulations. You can stop looking now, cross officiant off your to do list, and rest assured you have found the best!

Leora easy going and laid back demeanor made working with her a joy. From the moment we met her we realized that she was a great fit for us. She took into account our preferences in building the perfect wedding ceremony for us. Throughout the process she really made an effort to get to know us as a couple. The day of the ceremony she was the ultimate professional. She took charge and many of our guests remarked about how wonderful she was.
