We hired Wes to be our photographer for our 12/28/24 wedding. We recently received the photos which are amazing! The photos are vibrant, beautiful and capture all the special moments of that day. We loved working with Wes throughout the process and the day of the wedding. He knows his stuff and knows the shots to get! I would not hesitate to recommend Wes for any photography needs. -

Wes was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the start, his communication was detailed, and thorough, putting our minds at ease. He did a wonderful job of taking our inspiration ideas and turning them into a cohesive concept. His process for discussing the photopgrahic aesthethic we preferred was straightforward and the resulting outcome was extraordinary - guests continue to share how stunning our photos are months after the event! Wes was available for us, and patient throughout the entire planning process. Additionally, Wes was incredibly flexible and responsive to our wishes as a same-sex couple. He used his industry expertise to steer us when we needed the guidance and took our feedback to heart to make sure the day was ours. Wes was absolutely brilliant throughout every step of the process - and it all showed in the end with his immaculate pictures. He is a master of lighting, space, and composition. His ability to uniquely capture a frame and moment in time is quite special. The photos from our wedding are perfect.
Outside of the final product of photos - Wes is the best person to have for the job due to his appreciation for the craft, and for his dedication to working at the highest level. He is honest, humble, kind and hilarious. He also has a calming presence and realness to him - which if you have him for your wedding (like we did) - that is just the type of person you want around that day. A thing to note that we thought was special and touching was that Wes had seriously done his research to know the names of our parents, bridal party, etc. So during photos he was addressing everyone by their names and that to us was above and beyond.
We would and will highly recommend Wes Craft Photography to all! It was the best decision we made. -

Before we booked with Wes, we were following his work for a few years. We had a very large ethic wedding and wanted a photographer that could capture all of the important details of the ceremony and handle a large guest count. Wes and Necia were the perfect team!!! Wes took the lead from the moment he walked into the door and that is exactly what we needed! Wes' personality is captivating and Necia was the bridesmaid I needed on the wedding day!

Wow, Wes!!!! Our photos were absolutely amazing!!! We must say that we are blown away by how beautiful they are! The warmth, light, and raw emotion of every moment Wes captured meant so much to us and it will be something that we will cherish forever! We feel like we're having a hard time not looking at them over and over!!
Going through our photos together for the first time was so special and brought out all the laughs, tears, and every emotion in between. We love how Wes didn't do what every other photographer does, all those basic poses that seem to be the ‘standard’ run of the mill shots! The style and life in his photos, especially the candids, made us feel like we were reliving our special day! You can absolutely tell the passion and creativity that he puts into his profession! His effort and attention to detail really shines through in the final product! We couldn’t recommend Wes enough and would choose Wes Craft Photography 1000 times over! We also must say that we have gotten so many compliments from our wedding guests about how beautiful our photos are and how he made it really easy to be photographed…even for those guests that usually hate taking pictures! We have already been telling some of our already married friends about his family shoots and his work outside of wedding photography when they ask about how in the world we found him! -

We hired Wes for our engagement photos a couple years ago and absolutely loved how turned out, so it was an easy decision to hire him for our wedding. And we are SO glad that we did! Showing off Wes's incredible work to everyone has become a huge source of joy for my wife & me. Wes has an incredible instinct for capturing timeless moments. Wes was an incredible photographer to work with. My husband and I were married in November 2020 during the height of the pandemic and Wes was with us through it all. Our plans evolved a few times and Wes was nothing but flexible, understanding and accomodating (he even took a Covid test prior). His timeless photos help us relive every moment of our wedding day and we are grateful he captured it. I cannot say enough good things about Wes Craft! Wes and his wife Necia make the perfect team. During our initial conversations, Wes spent a lot of time with us on the phone and in person to understand our exact vision and expectations. He totally understood what we were looking for, and was able to provide helpful information regarding possible locations and ideas that might work best for us. During our engagement shoot, Wes spent extra time with us to get amazing shots of the city skyline in the water. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Wes was one of the first vendors to reach out to us with information regarding their policies and how they would be able to accommodate us. Our large reception for our wedding was postponed, but Wes was able to come to our small ceremony and captured the most beautiful pictures in quick turnaround. The quality of pictures you will get and the experience you will have cannot be matched. -

Wes and his wife Necia do a fabulous job capturing your special day. My husband and I are not very big on PDA so we were a little worried about our engagement shoot and wedding day because we don't really like attention. Wes did a fantastic job making is feel more comfortable and really doing all he could to make our experience perfect. Wes was super fun to work with, the perfect amount of sarcasm to go along with our very sarcastic personalities, and really made our day special.
Wes got AMAZING photos of our first dance. We a did a choreographed first dance as a surprise to our guests and the photos we got back from it are absolutely breathtaking. He and his wife really go above and beyond to get you exactly what you are looking for! -

If you value good photos at your wedding, go with Wes and Necia. Their humor and kindness also help calm anyone shy to the camera and consequently help to create more natural photos.
If you are a diva bride and are stuck on having shots a specific way, you may need to rethink your attitude or get a different photographer. Instead of looking for a brick wall or some other perfect backdrop, he is always looking at angles of light and how the sun is hitting you. He is more creative than me, so giving him control helped to create fabulous photos. That said, he is also very willing to make sure that you get what you want out of your photos sessions and run with your creative ideas.
I asked several friends with photography backgrounds to help me pick my wedding photographer and they all picked Wes. I would go so far as to say he is the best photographer in the Chicago and area for his price range. -

Let me start by saying that Wes and Necia are very easy to work with and by far made our special day memories come to life with their beautiful photographs. Photography was the one area that mean't the most to my husband and I so we wanted someone great and boy did we get someone better than just great. Wes Craft is absolutely the best! From the first meeting to the personal delivery of our wedding album, the whole experience with Wes and his wife Necia was very fun and professional.
They were always quick to respond whether it be by phone call, text or e-mail. Every form of communication was easy and always helpful. Very flexible with your schedule. I remember never feeling stressed regarding photography for our wedding.
Wes and Necia are very respectable people and care so much about their work and their clients. At the same time, they like to have fun with the whole process and enjoy being apart of your day with being very respectful to all the guests. One of my bridesmaids said, "One of things I will remember about your wedding is your photographer and how he was so great with making us laugh, he was awesome!" Being photographed is a little hard to get use to but the engagement session helps you feel comfortable with the camera and more importantly with Wes and how he works. In order to have fabulous photos, you need an excellent photographer who can make you laugh and tell you what to do.
My husband I knew our wedding photos were going to be great when we first saw our engagement photos. We loved them all, and when we saw the hundreds of photos from our wedding, we knew we were very blessed to have booked such a wonderful photographer to capture our beautiful day. The photos mean so much to us and we couldn't be happier. If you are considering a wedding album from them, do it! Our wedding album is absolutely beautiful and this is just another reason out of hundreds why we will recommend Wes Craft Photography to everyone we know. -

Cindy Sent on 10/28/2013Professional. Amazing. Soothing to the bride. Detail oriented. Did I say amazing? Wes and Necia also did the engagement session with my daughter and her fiance in downtown Chicago . . . GORGEOUS results!!
The dance floor was full all night long. Every I saw something or noticed someone and thought to myself, "Oh! We need a picture of that!" I looked and Wes and/or Necia were already "on it".
I cannot wait to see the end result of this most wonderful day. I said it when I had my own wedding nearly 25 years ago, .... the pictures are the only thing that we will be paying for that will last .... I want the best and I don't mind spending the money. I told her daddy the same thing when we started planning our daughters wedding this time, and my daughter and new son-in-law have been as impressed as I am. Spend the money . . . get the best. We are beyond happy we were able to have Wes photograph our engagement photos and our 6.10.12 wedding day!
Wes is a phenomenal photographer and a true artist. As a graphic designer, I was looking for a photographer who was the total package: creative, passionate, easy-going personality, and highly concerned with composition, light, color, texture, and the overall mood of each photograph to make every person and object look amazing. He surpassed our expectations.
Not only is Wes an artist, but he's also incredibly personable, knowledgeable, easy to contact, fun, and within our wedding budget. We first worked with Wes during our Oct 2011 engagement shoot. Our engagement photos were gorgeous. Many of our guests told us that whenever anyone saw our Save-The-Date magnet, they thought it was a photograph from a magazine.
Wes was also an absolute pleasure to work with on the wedding day. He called us the week before the wedding to go over everything and make sure he knew our priorities and overall vibe we wanted. We had a lot of laughs, a lot of serious moments, and a lot of fun. He made everyone feel comfortable and beautiful.
His wife, Necia, also a graphic artist, was his assistant on our wedding day and was his right-hand woman. Wes and Necia are a wonderful example of a married couple that works as "one." Necia also took photos on the wedding day and they turned out wonderfully too.
When we received our photos, we were overjoyed with how Wes captured our wedding day perfectly. He was able to represent all the emotion, fun, and beauty of our wedding and reception. Amanda Sent on 11/05/2011Wes was the single best decision I made for our wedding, hands down.
He shot our wedding over two years ago, and to this day, Wes is the one person that still sticks out in my mind as having such a positive impact on our wedding day. In fact, every singe one of my friends and family that attended the wedding still rave about him!
Think of it this way - the one vendor that will be with you for the entire day will be your photographer. It is SO important to find one who makes you feel at ease, who makes the day fun instead of stressful, and who you can be real with. Wes? He is the epitome of all these things.
Do not skimp on your photographer. These pictures will be with you for the rest of your life, and even after. I cannot tell you how happy I am that Wes was our photographer. His images don't just capture the typical wedding scenes, they capture pure emotions. He has an eye for finding beautiful, vibrant images that tell a story.
The days leading up to the wedding are always stressful. We had a limited amount of time between the ceremony and the reception, and I could not figure out where to take pictures during that time. As soon as I told Wes my predicament, he put my mind at ease. A few days later, he called me with a suggestion - an alley near our church with a painted red brick wall. While some people may have found this suggestion odd, I absolutely trusted Wes and the experience he has with lighting, backgrounds, color composition, and environment. The pictures he took in the alley were PHENOMENAL.
Wes was so much fun to work with. He knows exactly how to make people relax, and that is so important when getting natural pictures. In fact, a lot of the hilarious things he said throughout the day are still used in my conversation ("BAM. Stay sassy! Bring the heat!"). By the end of the day, I was joking around with him like he was an old friend.
This might have been a long, drawn-out review, but I cannot stress enough just how much we appreciate him and his work. Choose Wes. You will not regret it. -

Scarlett Sent on 06/20/2011After getting engaged in May 2009, I immediately started looking for the right photographer for my May 2011 wedding. I searched "The Knot," "WeddingWire," and asked married and engaged friends for recommendations. While searching "The Knot" Chicago boards quite frequently, Wes Craft's name was mentioned several times as being a great wedding photographer. I looked at Wes' portfolio and was really amazed at what I saw. I gave my now-husband the task of interviewing wedding photographers and he spoke with Wes and came away impressed. I knew from reading the boards that Wes booked up fast, so we booked him right away. He did our engagement session in Chicago in the summer of 2010. The photos he took were gorgeous and he stayed over the one-hour allotted time to get extra shots that I wanted. After our engagement shoot I was really excited for the wedding because Wes was very friendly and fun to be around. I was very nervous during the shoot and he made me laugh and open up. Us, our family, and friends loved our engagements photos. Wes' attention to detail is extraordinary. He is always looking through his camera lens for inspiration for interesting, artistic, and candid photos that make his work stand out from ordinary wedding photographers.
On the day of our wedding, Wes arrived 30 minutes early to my house to take photos of us getting ready and he immediately started working. I was very flustered at this time and his humor calmed my nerves during our first photo shoot. He was rocking to Jock Jams in our living room with my family while taking photos. My entire family and Wes looked like they were having a good time. During this session even though he was having fun he was very focused. Again, his attention to detail is amazing. If one thing was out of place in photo he would go remove it and then take the photo. He really cares about the quality of the photos and wants to make sure they are the best that they can be. Before, the wedding I gave Wes a hefty shot list and I must say he went above and beyond to try to get every photo on that list. My family and bridal party absolutely loved Wes. My favorite line that my Dad said while Wes was shooting was, "Man this guy really knows what he is doing!" The bridal party – especially the girls – loved Wes. He kept cracking jokes and making everyone smile and have a good time. Also, during the wedding he did not interrupt the ceremony or block any guests’ view of the ceremony. I have been to a handful of weddings where the photographer stands in front of guests to get certain photos, which Wes did not. Honestly, during the ceremony I did not even notice Wes was there. I know from the wonderful pictures he took. After the ceremony Wes took all of the family photos with the bride and groom. Even through it was a little disorganized (due to me), Wes went with the flow and got some amazing shots. I could tell he was very inspired by the architecture of our church and he took many artistic shots. Toward the end of this shoot he was begging me to take more photos because he was so inspired, which really showed me was enjoying what he was doing.
After church photos we moved to our reception site, which was a resort located off Lake Michigan. Wes took some beautiful pictures of us on the beach. He also delivered on some of the special shots I requested with the bridal party on the beach. I wanted a "jump shot" and “a feet in the sand” shot, which turned out well. I also wanted a night time shot. I had seen some of his night shots on Facebook and asked if he could take one of us. The night shot he took was amazing. It is one of my favorite shots. I am going to have it made into a large canvas and put on my wall at home. Wes stayed late in order to get that night shot and I am so happy he did. Wes definitely made my wedding day more enjoyable, considering the amount of time that is spent taking pictures.
The photos themselves blew me away. We got a sneak peak about week after the wedding and Wes posted some of his favorites before that on Facebook. The vibrant colors and raw emotion in the photos he was able to capture was amazing. I loved all the candid and artistic photos he took. Wes did such a wonderful job capturing our wedding. I would say you’d be crazy not to book him for your wedding. And I hope in the future he gets shoot my four other sisters’ weddings.

Dana Sent on 06/19/2011My husband and I consider ourselves lucky to have found Wes Craft to photograph our wedding in 2009, as he is quickly becoming a premier wedding photographer in Chicago. Wes captured every moment of the day beautifully, beyond what we ever could have imagined.
My husband and I wanted a photographer with a photo journalistic style, which Wes does so well. But beyond that, we discovered that Wes has a superb knack for taking portraits as well. We have such a wonderful mix of photos from that day of our families and everyone at our wedding that don't feel staged or posed, even though many were. Wes just has a flare for photography that we didn't find anywhere else.
One of my favorite memories from that day took place before our wedding even started that day. My husband and I decided to see each other before the wedding at the beach that he played growing up near his home. Prior to that day, we never discussed how we would first get a glimpse of each other. Wes had the idea for us to each stand back to back on opposite sides of a large tree. We reached back with our hands until our hands found each other, then turned around face to face. He was able to capture the initial look on both of our faces perfectly. Even better I was able to take still photos from that moment and put them in chronological order in our wedding album to recreate that exact moment frame by frame.
Wes was there for every minute of the most important day of our lives. He was timely, courteous, professional and funny. He is extremely easy to get along with, our entire wedding party and family loved him. He captured every moment of that day, ensuring that we will have those memories forever. -

WE LOVE WES!!!! From the first consult we knew Wes was the guy for our wedding! He kept everyone laughing and made the nervousness of the day go away! The pictures came out beautiful for our day and we recieved a TON of compliements on our photographer, Wes as well. If you're looking for a great photographer and someone who will capture everything you're looking for, AND makes you laugh in the process, than Wes is your guy! :)

Wes was a joy to work with. He held my hand and guided me through the planning process. He knew the questions to ask that I didn't. He sat me down and asked me what was important to me, and what shots I absolutely had to have. (My set of photos completely reflects my wishes. I couldn't be more pleased.)
On the wedding day, Wes and Necia were awesome. Wes kept everyone at ease and laughing the entire time - and even got my Dad to smile a few times. (Trust me. That's a feat!) In fact, one of my favorite shots is one that Wes took of my dad as he was waiting for me to finish getting ready. Dad was sitting ON THE FLOOR in a room that was full of chairs. Ha! I love that shot because it completely captures my dad's goofy personality. All of my guests loved him!
Oh, and on top of being an absolute pleasure to be around and work with, Wes is amazingly talented as a photographer. The photos from our wedding are about the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. Wes has such an artistic eye and can see photo opportunities where you don't. For example, it was wet and rainy on our wedding day. Wes turned the weather into an opportunity for a beauitful shot of the groomsmen with their refelctions in a huge puddle that had collected outside the church. Even 8 months later, I often find myself flipping through my set of photos, and finding a new one to add to my favorites. I love all the ceremony pictures. Wes did a great job of capturing our joy in all of those photos.
I would highly reccomend Wes Craft Weddings to anyone. He's the best. I was blessed and lucky to have him as our photographer. -

Not only is he extremely talented behind the lens, he is professional, fun and so creative. His portfolio stands out above every competitor. Throughout the entire wedding process, from engagement photos to receiving the proofs online, Wes truly put my mind at ease. I am a scrapbooker and photos are probably the most important part of the wedding for me, so I needed them to be amazing... and they were!
Wes even captured the unfortunate moment when our limo had a flat tire. He spotted our limo on the side of the road, pulled over, jumped out, snapped some shots of the sad-looking tire, got some shots of the bridal party, and was on his way to the reception making sure to be ready for us when we arrived. I'm so glad he took these shots because now it's a story we can look back on and smile about.
Wes does a great job of inspiring the bridal party to take risks and gets them laughing, in order to capture unique and classic moments. My husband and I couldn't be happier! -

Heather Sent on 06/10/2011My husband and I were quite picky when choosing our photographer, but we were completely sold when we reviewed Wes' portfolio and met him for an engagement session. He is laid back and super fun, but also very professional (which seems like an oxymoron). He knew how to make us feel at ease, even though my husband and I felt a little out of sorts getting our pictures taken for an hour.
I've been in a few weddings and have seen what kind of wedding photographers are out there – none had the skill, care or friendliness that Wes had. He was not only very professional, but he made taking photos fun, without being cheesy (no pun intended). He could make the group laugh and get natural shots, rather than (the perhaps all too common) 'everyone laugh'. The time he took to set up each photo shows how much he is invested in the photographs themselves – photography is his passion, not just his job. I've never seen a wedding photographer act with as much care and consideration for the frame.
My family adored him, as did I. They appreciated that he took the time to make sure everyone's faces would be seen in the large group photos. Having your photograph taken for hours on end can be a grueling process, I think, but he made it so easy. He is easy to talk to, listens to what you want in your wedding photographs, and gives you even more. We were so happy with all of our photos and had trouble picking just a handful for our album.
I've seen photos from other weddings he has photographed – none are the same. Sometimes you see a sample of pictures from photographers, and the people are in the same poses all the time. Looking at Wes' work, you can see he is very creative and is always trying new and fun things. You'll rarely see the same style photo twice.
The special day goes by in a whirlwind, and it's so nice to see the photos taken and say, 'I didn't even remember this.' He was everywhere without you even noticing him – he was able to get the shots he needed without being obtrusive. I would recommend him to anyone getting married (and I do!). He's an amazing guy, and an even more amazing photographer.
