Wedding gown and alterations

I love the wedding gown I picked out at Weddings 826. I used the in-house alterations, and Rachel was truly a miracle worker to make the dress fit me absolutely perfectly. Thank you to the entire team who were patient through multiple fittings and gave me great advice leading up to my wedding day. The dress was perfect, and I felt beautiful in it.

Weddings 826 Saved My Wedding!

Weddings 826 literally saved my wedding. I got my dress in San Diego while I was still living in California and then moved back to Chicago and needed my alterations there. Thank God I found Weddings 826. I was incorrectly sized for my dress when I bought it and lost some weight. The seamstress, Carolyn (who is also amazing), had to take in 16 inches. Not only that, the fabric was beaded!

The dress turned out perfect. She literally deconstructed the dress. I don't know what I would have done without her. I did 6 fittings and she gave such helpful feedback with everything. I am so grateful they were recommended to me. Definitely come here for alterations!

Excellent Dress Experience

I cannot speak more highly about my experience wedding dress shopping, purchasing, and tailoring with Weddings 826! From the very start they were accommodating, kind, and helped me pick out my dream dress as well as tailor it. Brian is magic and really made my dress feel special and like my own even many months after purchasing. They allowed me to bring guests to all of my appointments and of course Summer the shop dog is the best support while wedding dress shopping. Thank you for all that you do!

Amazing Seamstresses!

Lisa and the rest of the team at Weddings 826 were absolutely incredible to work with. Lisa re-did my mom's wedding gown from 1984, and turned it into the dress of my dreams. She was so careful to consult me during every step of the process, and the result was phenomenal. Pricing was incredibly reasonable too. I couldn't be happier with Weddings 826!

Such a great place

I cannot recommend Weddings 826 enough. Every time I was there, from my initial appointment to choose my dress, to my accessory appointment, to my final fitting, everyone made me feel special and beautiful. They have a wonderful selection of dresses that contain both classic and unique looks in a wide variety of price ranges. Kayla did a great job of listening to what I was looking for while still giving me options that were a little bit different, and I ended up picking a dress that was different (but better!) than I imagined I’d be in. I also loved the convenience of working with Weddings 826 for alterations - my dress fit perfectly and looked beautiful for my day!

Loved Weddings 826!

I had a wonderful experience at Weddings 826 with Suzi and her team. Michelle helped me find my dress back in February 2020 and it wasn't until August of 2021 that I started my alterations there. We had planned on doing 3 alteration appointments but ended up having to add 2 additional because the top of my dress was not fitting as I had hoped. Rachel was absolutely amazing and did everything to make sure that my dress fit by my wedding date. My last fitting was the week of my wedding and although it was a little nerve-wracking, she did an amazing job making me feel confident that it would be ready and fitting perfectly. Well it did and I received so many compliments about how incredible it was. It fit like a glove. Suzi and her team were helpful, responsive, and very hands-on. They answered all my questions and made sure my dress was steamed and ready. Thank you Suzi and team for all your help throughout the process!

Great dress experience

I did not end up buying my gown from Weddings 826, but I had a wonderful experience with Sarah trying on gowns. She made me feel heard and comfortable and the gowns were a great value. Plus, the salon is super cute and the fitting rooms are MASSIVE. You should absolutely make Weddings 826 part of your dress shopping experience.

Wedding 826 - exceptional service!

Wonderful experience! I did not purchase my wedding dress at Wedding 826 but they were able to help me alter my dress only two days before my wedding. After several visits to a different alteration shop (and clearly disappointed with this shop), Wedding 826 very patiently helped me. I would not have expected them to do this especially since I did not purchase my dress from them. However, they could tell that I was disappointed with the fit but they wanted to ensure that I was happy with my day. They went over and above what I would have expected of them. Thank you so much for being flexible and accommodating!!

Helpful and professional staff with wide variety of dresses

Weddings 826 saved me! I bought a dress from another store in December for my June wedding. When the dress didn't arrive as scheduled in March, I was left scrambling for a new dress 3 months before my wedding. Weddings 826 helped me find a lovely (off-the-rack) dress and their in-house tailor, Brian, got the alterations done in time. For such a small place, they have a wide selection of dresses, both off-the-rack and order-only. They are extremely professional, organized, friendly, and caring, and I cannot thank them enough for helping me out of a pinch! Thanks Suzi and Brian!!

Wonderful place

My daughter did not buy her dress here but we went there for alterations. Suzi could not have been better!!! She worked with our schedule and was there every step of the way. Suzi was so comforting —- she made you feel very comfortable about your decision to entrust them with your dress. Suzi was a professional throughout. I would recommend wedding 826 to anyone. They also have beautiful dresses and accessories.

Adorable shop and great dresses for the price!

My second appointment of my big dress shopping day with my mom brought us to Weddings 826, and it did not disappoint! The shop is adorable, cozy, and the staff is very welcoming. My bridal assistant, Kayla, was so sweet and asked lots of great questions to figure out what I was looking for. She quickly knew my style and brought some gorgeous dresses (she seemed to have a great memory for their inventory too!). Their appointment slots are one hour, which is a tad short for someone who's just starting to dress shop. That being said, Kayla was kind enough to let me go over the hour so that I could re-try my two favorite dresses to snag pics and compare. Although I ended up finding "the" dress at a different store later that day, I cannot recommend Weddings 826 and their lovely staff enough!

Of all the vendors we worked with for our wedding, I can honestly say that Weddings 826 was my favorite! After an unsuccessful/disappointing weekend of trying to recreate "Say Yes To The Dress" with my mom & future mother-in-law in town, I popped into this cute little boutique by myself on a weekday afternoon (with no appointment) as a dejected bride-to-be. By that point I had been to at least 8 other stores and tried on upwards of 30 dresses. I knew the look i wanted but just wasn't finding it. The owner, Suzi, very sweetly greeted me when I walked in and offered to help me poke around their closets to see if I saw anything I liked. I did indeed find something that was *CLOSE* ... it was just missing some sparkle. Suzi assured me that their resident tailor, Deb, could add some custom beadwork that would get the dress the rest of the way to what I wanted. The design process with Deb was always fun and very collaborative. Never once did she make me feel like a bridezilla, no matter how much bling I asked her to add, changes I requested, or even when I changed my mind on a few things and then asked her to undo her hard work a week before the wedding. I made multiple visits to Weddings 826 over the course of many months and each time they greeted me with a smile and a friendly offer for a glass of champagne :) I'm beyond thrilled with how my dress turned out, and the the dress / customization / alterations were all very reasonably priced. To Suzi, Deb, and the rest of the staff - THANK YOU for making my wedding dress dreams come true!! I'll be back to visit xoxoxo

I only purchased accessories here but had a fabulous time doing so! I brought my dress and one friend with me and Jordan helped me. She was so nice and accommodating. We were offered champagne when we arrived and I gave Jordan an idea of what I was looking for. She brought me some great options for jewelry and I ended up selecting some beautiful rose gold drop earrings and a silver and rose gold necklace. Would highly recommend Weddings 826 for all your dress and accessory needs!

I had a wonderful experience with Weddings 826. I was drawn there to shop for my gown after a close friend had a fantastic experience the year prior. I came in with a particular idea on silhouette (A-line). My consultant had my try on several options but followed her intuition and expertise and put me in a fit to flair, which looked incredible and gave my mom her jaw-drop moment she was waiting for. From that first consultation, to my fittings, to accessories, everything was seamless. I got so many compliments on how my gown matched my personality and style and made me standout in the best way possible. I highly recommend Weddings 826 for all brides to be.

Weddings 826 went above and beyond amazing service in helping me source my wedding dress in time for my wedding and get the alterations I needed. They took the time to call the designer to help me get the specific dress I wanted much earlier than another store had told me, and they were able to do the alterations and work with my timeline (when another store wasn't willing to do so) even though I ended up being six months pregnant at my wedding. Suzi is extremely personable and professional, and the seamstress Deborah gave me great advice on the alterations and did a beautiful job. They were worth every penny, and I couldn't have been happier with them!

Weddings 826 was great! I got married out of state, but was in Chicago to shop for my dress. They were great at letting me come and try it on a few times before I was sure and they worked with me to order my dress (one of their exclusive boutique designs) and ship it to me. A month before my wedding I realized I wanted a belt and was visiting Chicago, they helped me find the perfect belt for my dress and gave me a discount because I'm one of their brides! I have received only compliments on the dress and how well it fit both my body and my personality.

I wasn't really thrilled about wedding dress shopping, having always struggled to find dresses that look right on me (big bust, tiny waist, bit of a tummy, short torso, and curves everywhere does not make clothes shopping easy for me). After getting engaged I was hesitant to even get a traditional wedding dress. But after shopping, and picking out my wedding dress, at Weddings 826, I was finally on board with being--and looking--like a bride.

The shop itself is adorable; quaint and cozy, without any of the overwhelming feelings that other bridal salons can have. The staff was super friendly, offering us water, coffee, and/or champagne as soon as we walked in.

Don't let the somewhat minimal amount of dresses in their front space fool you; there's a ton more dresses stored in the back (I think they just put the newest ones out front). I found a couple I wanted to try on in the front room, and after telling my consultant the types of styles I was looking for, what I definitely was not looking for, and my concerns, she went in the back and grabbed a bunch more options for me.

I tried on several dresses I liked, and eventually found "the one." I opted to use Weddings 826 for my alterations, too, and was thrilled to not have to seek out another vendor to do that. I was hoping to make my strapless dress work without having to wear a strapless bra underneath, but after two fittings where their seamstress did her best to make that happen, it was clear that I would need a strapless bra afterward. I called them asking for a quick pop-in appointment between my second and final fitting to try the dress on with the bra I had just purchased, and they were very accommodating.

A lovely space with a wide variety of dresses (and accessories! I got my earrings there, too!), and a friendly, helpful staff, I would highly recommend making Weddings 826 a stop on your dress hunting mission.

Weddings 826 bridal shop in Lincoln Park was the perfect place for me to find a dress. A lovely shop with warm and welcoming interior. Suzi is amazing! Attentive, passionate, kind and so patient. She is very professional and gracious. She really went above and beyond. Suzi was attentive to what I had in mind in terms of style and suggested a few dresses. She patiently brought out those gorgeous dresses and allowed us to take our time to decide which would be perfect.

I went to Weddings 826 VERY early on in my engagement to have a dress try-on with my mom and some close friends. I had no intentions of buying a dress at that point (18 months before my wedding), but I was so glad that the helpful staff at Weddings 826 did not try to aggressively push a sale. With that in mind, I knew I wanted to use Weddings 826 somehow in my wedding because I did have a wonderful experience there. I ended up buying my dress out of state, so I instantly knew that Weddings 826 would be my go-to for alterations. Deborah was fantastic. When my dress came, it was a full size too big (I was on the cusp of that size...and then lost weight before the wedding), so she helped take in a LOT of fabric. Further, I put her creative skills to the test by ordering a strapless dress, but wanting straps. Deborah wowed me when she took parts of the excess lace I had ordered and crafted beautiful and delicate straps, piece by piece over my shoulders. NO ONE knew that the dress had been strapless to start because the straps were so seamlessly integrated. If you are living in downtown Chicago, you MUST get your alterations done here.

Weddings 826 is absolutely wonderful. I didn't purchase my dress from there, but they did all of my alterations and were just great to work with. I should also note that although I didn't purchase my dress here, every time I went into the salon there were more and more absolutely stunning dresses. I easily could have found my dress here! However, instead I bought my dress in Michigan,and later learned that the salon I purchased it from would not be able to do alterations. Weddings 826 took me in and treated me like one of their brides from the beginning. They made sure my dress was absolutely perfect, and are now having it cleaned and preserved for me.

I am so glad to have found this place! My dress was absolutely beautiful! I received soooo many compliments on my wedding day and after! From the moment I stepped foot in, I knew I was going to be in good hands. They welcome you with some tea, coffee, or even champagne! The lady helping me (Michelle) listened to everything I was asking for. She grabbed at least 10 dresses for me to try on and they were all beautiful! She worked with my budget (1,500-2,000) as well. The rooms to try dresses on are NOT closest sized (can't say the same for other places such as David's Bridal). And after you put on a dress, you get to come out and show it to your friends/family in a designated area! How cool! I recommend any future bride out there to check this place out. Unlike other bridal stores I visited, the ladies that work here don't pressure you into buying a dress. They just want you to have fun, enjoy trying on dresses, and hopefully help you find your dream dress! I did! :)

I wanted something beautiful and unique within my budget of $2500. I went to Weddings 826 and found THE perfect dress for only $1400! I was amazed at how gorgeous, detailed, on-trend and reasonably priced their dress selection was. The Lincoln Park flat feels so Chicago and the champagne and private rooms make the experience. I was very happy with my dress and received tons of compliments. Would definitely recommend.

I purchased my dress from a different store but Weddings 826 completed the alterations. I could not be happier with their work! First off, the store is gorgeous and the staff is extremely professional. I felt the the pricing and timing for the alterations were a great value and I did not feel rushed. They definitely ensure you are happy with the final result. When you pick up your dress the day before (or of) the wedding, they clean and prep your dress beautifully and even give you a checklist to keep it pristine. Found this cute little boutique in Chicago. Just the right amount of dress, it wasn't too overwhelming. I found my dress a year and half before my wedding. Very affordable prices, not the Chicago price tag you would expect to pay. I also got my alterations done here. Deborah did a beautiful job taking my dress from a size 10 down to a size 4. Also had a custom belt made, beautiful work. Weddings 826 was on top of everything they even fit me in for a "just in case" fitting 4 days before my wedding.

This is the first place I went wedding dress shopping and where I ultimately purchased my dress! Anna did a great job in listening to what I had in mind and pulling things that were within the scope of that. I highly recommend it as a place to start when you are shopping because it's smaller and less intimidating. I initially went shopping with my mom and sister but didnt buy and came back later with my bridesmaids to try on again. When I was sure it was "the dress" they served us champagne to celebrate! I love everything about Weddings826! I bought my dress there, and also did alterations there. They have a great selection of dresses, all at great prices. Their alterations department was also really flexible with when I could come in, and were able to turn around the alterations in a short time crunch. My dress was absolutely stunning already, but they worked with me to add an illusion neckline with lace and sleeves, buttons, and a sash--all for less than $700. So glad I didn't stop at the first store, and found the perfect dress!

This is a must for gals with short engagements or even if you have a long one. I went here because they had affordable dresses and samples available. All the girls were great. I worked with Kiera and she was helpful in suggesting styles and ideas, as I was the girl with no clue when I started shopping. She knew the stock well and she could take clues from how I felt about certain aspects of dresses to guide me in the right direction. She let me try on a ton of dresses, some a couple of times, and I got lucky. I found one I loved, was a sample in my size, and well within the budget. Kiera was not pushy and let me think it over. She even drew the two dresses I liked most on the back of her business card, included the designer names, color, sizes, and pricing for new vs. sample dresses.

I am going in for my first alterations consultation this Saturday and am working with Susie. She's been really accommodating, letting me store my dress at the store, and generally just really pleasant when I've spoken with her on the phone.

I highly recommend this place. They are nice and everything is under $3,500, with plenty of dresses to choose from. Also, if you buy a dress here, they also give you a 15% discount on all accessories, which doubles to 30% during the month of December.

I was referred here by two of my coworkers who also bought their dresses here. Wonderful experience from start to finish! Decent selection of dresses at a reasonable price. Scarlet was my consultant and could not have been nicer or more professional. The owner is very hands on and professional as well. I also purchased my veil and earrings here at their big sale in December. I ordered my dress and it arrived early within FIVE weeks!

I can't say enough great things about this shop--having been to a few other big stores that felt less personal and very rushed, this place was a breath of fresh air. For your appointment, you get the whole showroom to yourself, which was so nice and very fun. The champagne didn't hurt either! I bought my dress here on the spot and am so glad I did. The tailoring department (upstairs) is also wonderful and did such a great job getting the perfect fit. My mom even ended up having her dress altered there with me. A very pleasant experience, great staff, and beautiful dresses!

Amazing! I couldn't have done it without them. After deciding 3 weeks before my wedding that I hated my dress, Weddings 826 squeezed me in, helped me find the most perfect dress off the rack and Maggie was able to alter in 2 weeks! I got so many compliments on my dress and I couldn't have been happier. The staff at Weddings 826 was so sweet and accommodating. Love them and would recommend to any bride!

As a disclaimer, I had already purchased my wedding dress prior to visiting Weddings 826...

I've been all over this city looking for wedding accessories, specifically earrings, a birdcage veil, and a hair accessory. This place has a large supply of hair accessories and earrings, most at very reasonable prices compared to other bridal stores. They don't have as many birdcage veils, but the few they have were worth the visit. I ended up purchasing all 3 items I came in for and was happy to check those items off the list! The staff was welcoming and let me take my time trying everything on several times. Would definitely recommend coming in here for your bridal accessories!

I loved this bridal boutique! I found the perfect dress here and my experience was phenomenal. We were given a private room for the dress fitting and some champagne. My consultant was extremely friendly and helped me change from each dress very quickly. She did not rush us and she let me put on the dresses a second time if I wanted to compare. We were also allowed to take pictures of all of the dresses. The best part was that I bought the sample for 50% off! Every time I returned for a fitting I was given the same great customer service. We were always given a private room and champagne and we were never rushed. I was given four fittings to make sure that the dress was perfect, and it was! I would recommend this place to anyone!

My mom and I went to Weddings 826 in search of a wedding dress. It was a rainy spring afternoon in Chicago, and it was a PLEASURE walking into the store! They offered us some hot tea or champagne right away while our consultant pulled some dresses. Not only did I find the most amazing dress, but I was able to buy the sample dress (at a discount) and my alterations were perfect. They were very flexible in setting alteration appointments, and when my veil was accidentally thrown away (blame it on wedding stress)... they were able to order me a new one (at a discount) and I had it within 2 or 3 weeks. THANKS to Weddings 826 for such a fun afternoon wedding dress shopping with my mom, and for a great experience after the purchase of my dress.

I purchased my dress and did my alterations at Weddings 826 and really loved my gown and my experience. The store is both classy and warm and inviting, and the service was excellent every time I visited. If your dress is available in store, you can purchase the sample at a small discount and take it home that day. I also bought a headband and a belt there at a double discount (one discount for buying my dress there, and one that they offer two months out of the year).

Rachel and the rest of the alterations team were super easy to work with, and were very knowledgable and communicative. I always left my appointments feeling like all of my questions had been answered and confident that they would do a great job. They scheduled an extra appointment for me to make sure the fit on my dress was perfect (it was) and told me I could call them on my wedding day if there was a dress emergency (there wasn't). The whole process with Weddings 826 was positive and stress free, and I highly recommend their services!

I purchased my wedding dress at Weddings 826, and I highly recommend going there if you are shopping for a wedding dress! I only went to a couple different places, but I ended up back at Weddings 826 and I bought one of the first ones I tried on. I was able to buy it off the rack at a 25% discount. When I started shopping for dresses I thought this place would be expensive since it is located in the heart of Lincoln Park. I was totally wrong. They have dresses in a wide price range, it's very affordable as far as wedding dresses go.

Every sales person I worked with was accommodating and friendly, very easy to work with. The seamstress who does the alterations is incredible! They really make sure you are happy and that your dress is perfect for the big day--no matter how many times you need to come and try it on. I scheduled 4 fittings, but ended up trying it on 6 times as I lost some weight very close to my wedding date. They did not hesitate to do additional fittings. They did not charge any more than they initially estimated to take my dress in a couple more times. Excellent customer service. Plus, the place is so cute. It's like a cute little house, and they offer you champagne every time you go there...it's a nice touch even if I didn't always have some. If you are looking for a dress, definitely go to Weddings 826.

I have been walking, biking and driving past Weddings 826 for years and always thought it was the cutest place ever. When you picture wedding dress shopping, for me, it was always someplace that looked like that. So when I was lucky enough to get engaged, I quickly made an appointment at this shop. My bridesmaid and I were greeted with bubbly, tea or water and taken to a huge room with dresses for days. We felt pampered and spent more than our fair share of time picking dresses, trying them on and generally enjoying ourselves. Sadly, I did not find "the dress" there. But when I did find "the dress" and it arrived much larger than I needed I knew just where to take it.

Maggie and her alteration team upstairs at Weddings 826 are a hidden gem. They are amazingly detailed, smart, fun and enjoyable to work with. And most importantly they took what looked like a potato sack on me and made it into the gown I knew it could be...if it actually touched me. :) They gave me extra fittings when my weight started dropping. They even begged me....should anything happen to the dress on the day of, call them!!! They can be anywhere in the city in 20 minutes with needle and thread in hand. I felt like I was in the hands of angels. They wanted nothing more than for me to be comfortable and beautiful on my big day. And thanks to all their hard work, I was beyond thrilled and felt amazing in my dress. I spent days looking for non-strapless dresses. Every girl I saw with a strapless wedding dress spent her day jacking it up when it fell down. Despite my efforts, I fell in love with a strapless dress. And Maggie made sure it didn't fall down even a smidgen. The prices for services were super reasonable, their attention to detail was amazing, and they got everything done on time perfectly with a smile. Could you really ask for anything more? Thank you Maggie & team. I'm going to miss our fittings but I really can't thank you enough for your magic needle and thread!

The girls at Weddings 826 were wonderful!! I actually bought my dress at Priscilla of Boston, which closed down shortly after I purchased it, and I had already made plans to get my (huge) dress altered there. I was at a loss as where to go for alterations. I am so glad I ended up going to Weddings 826!! Although it was a hike for me, those Saturday trips down to visit Maggie (who altered my dress), Suzi (the store owner) and the other girls was very well worth it. They did an outstanding job!! I still can't believe how perfect it all turned out -- they have incredible talent. They took a lot of care in ensuring I was fully satisfied and the dress fit to a tee. Definitely recommend!!

I just LOVED Suzi! She was the most lovely person- she was not pushy, not sales oriented, and was just a joy in aiding my mom and I in finding the perfect dress! I can't get over how awesome her little boutique is and how we had the whole entire space to ourselves for our 2 hour appointment. This place is a bride's dream. The decor is lovely and inciting, it is private, the staff is very friendly and professional, and the selection of gowns is wonderful. When you make an appointment, you have the whole place to yourself. You get your personal time with whoever you bring and it makes it very special. They offer you champagne and tea every time you visit. The gown prices can fit anyone's budget. I was lucky and bought my dress off the rack because it was in my exact size, which lowered the price of what it would have been if I had to order it immensely. I also had my alterations done here. The woman who does the alterations is very knowledgeable. She altered my dress perfectly and on time. I was worried that it wouldn't be done in time because she was pregnant and the baby was due a few weeks before my wedding, but the salon made all the arrangements and was very organized and prepared for her absence. I am telling everyone I know who gets engaged to go here.

I got my beautiful wedding dress at Weddings 826. I was a little intimidated by the large bridal salons (a la Macy's, etc.), and my budget wasn't huge compared to some (around $1000), so found Weddings 826 on the internet and decided to try it. When I called to make an appointment, the woman asked my budget and assured me that they had dresses within it. When I arrived, there were a lot to choose from, many more than some of the other small boutiques I looked at. I wanted something unique and beautiful, and I found it! The dress was blush pink, and had a very unique folded pattern on one side of the dress with a more poufy gathered pattern on the other side. Very special, very different than I thought I would pick, but very beautiful! I can't say enough about the girls who work there. Kaitlyn helped me most of the time, she was super sweet and caring, helped me in and out of the dresses (even put up with my indecision and retrying on ones, and us taking pictures), helped me set up dress fittings to do alterations, and coordinated the whole thing. I did alterations in their attached seamstress shop upstairs, which I found reasonably priced (although I only got the train chopped off, as the dress fit quite well off the rack). One point is note is that they only carry certain sizes of dresses, so be sure to check with them before heading out for an appointment. It all went off without a hitch, they were flexible with me changing fitting times and pickup times, and they stored the dress throughout the entire process, and provided it cleaned and stuffed for pickup the day before the wedding. Everyone was great, and I got tons of compliments on my dress, so thanks Weddings 826!

OH MY LIFE. I found Weddings826 on a whim- and I couldn't be happier! Suzi the owner is AMAZING. They book the entire studio for each bride and give you PLENTY of time to go through the selection and try on whatever you are looking for. She was the most friendly and respectful and wonderful person. She never forced an opinion, but rather complimented sincerely with her thoughts. She would add a suggestion without ever pushing a sale or purchase! My mother and I will ONLY recommend her to brides. The prices were AWESOME- she had a dress for every budget- and mine was under $1300! She gave me the shoulder piece for free to help me make my budget. She was SUCH a blessing to me!

Weddings 826 is by far my most favorite wedding vendor I used. I can't begin to rave enough how gorgeous this bridal boutique is. They have some of most beautiful dresses and accessories I have ever seen. Their selection is extensive, and a great place to go for your bridal dress if you want to order of buy off of the rack. I bought two wedding dresses here, my veil, and all of my accessories. They are a one stop shop with some of most unique items not found elsewhere. I am so happy I found this place. The owner, Suzi and their staff conduct themselves in the highest standard and are very professional. They were so accomadating with everything. I used them for alterations which I would highly reccomend doing because my dresses fit perfectly, and they went way above and beyond my expectations. Weddings 826 was a godsend. I had originally purchased my dress from Priscilla of Boston, about 3 months before they decided to send me an email that they were closing all of their stores. After a lot of negotiations I was able to get my money back and look for a new dress.

Enter Weddings 826 - the most charming little boutique on Armitage. I didn't even have an appointment and walked in to ask if I could just browse their selection to see if I wanted to make an appointment. That day I ended up finding my dress - I didn't buy it but I knew it was the one. One of the sales associates told me to try it on quickly before their next appointment arrived - it was stunning. I made an appointment for the following week and said goodbye to what would be my wedding gown.

Never once was I pressured to buy anything from the store, there were even times where I was deciding between two items that were polar opposites in price and the sales associate suggested the one that cost less.

I also had all of my alterations done by Weddings 826 and they went so perfect, the dress fit me like a glove. All of the alterations were finished on time and I was able to pickup my dress a week before the wedding to bring it to CT. I highly recommend Weddings 826 - the entire staff was a dream to work with.

My FAVORITE part of the wedding experience by far was Wedding Dress shopping at Weddings 826!! My mom flew in to share the experience with me and upon meeting Katelyn, we were blown away! She taught me so much about wedding dresses (I had no idea there was so much to know). The first dress I tried on was a one of a kind (in a Size 6, I'm a little bigger than that) designed by Julie, a local Chicago designer. The next 2 dresses I liked were also by Julie. Since this was my first stop, I went to another 5-8 stores, but I couldn't stop thinking about the first dress and the experience at Weddings 826!! 2 Issues: I'm not a Size 6 and I kind of wanted a corset back. Katelyn was AMAZING!!! She & Julie came up with a plan to make my dream dress fit me & even make it into a corset back. After 2 fittings, my dream wedding dress was a reality. On my Wedding Day, I felt like a beautiful princess and I got so many compliments on my dress. Katelyn and Julie - I cannot thank you enough for everything you did to make the experience at Weddings 826 something I'll remember forever!!! The only thing that makes me a little sad is that I won't get to see you for fittings anymore. Thank you!! Thank you!! :)

I bought my wedding dress at Weddings 826 and it was a great experience. We had our appointment in their back room, which is pretty small, but it's my own fault for waiting until just a few days before our shopping trip to make the appointment (their main room was all booked)! Their main room, which I used when I went back to try the dress on a second time before deciding on it, is much larger and has lots of light.

The whole shop is very cute. I think they primarily sell samples but some dresses are available to order... in fact the dress that I ended up getting was available to order in whatever size you want, but the sample happened to fit me, and was practically brand new and looked perfect, so I ended up buying that one at a 15% discount! Can't beat that. Our attendant, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, was really sweet and helpful.

I had my alterations done elsewhere so I can't rate that aspect, but overall I had a very pleasant experience with Weddings 826 and would definitely recommend that brides shop for their dress there. They seemed to have a wide selection of great designers.

I didn't realize how much I would not like trying on wedding dresses. They all started to look the same and nothing caught my eye. One of my bridesmaids and I went to this little boutique. We had some chocolate, champange and bang I found my dress. It was the last one I tried on. You have to make an appointment because it's a small place and they wait on you individually. You have access to everything by yourself. I needed my dress off the rack, so it worked out perfectly. It was a great experience.

I had a great experience with Weddings 826. I had a short engagement and did not have enough time to order a dress and wait six months. I found a great dress off-the-rack. My alterations appointments were timely and quick and I was very pleased with the end result. Additionally, I was looking for a sash to complete my look and they recommended I visit Soutache on Damen, where I was able to create a great sash at an affordable cost. Overall, I had a great experience, loved my dress, and would recommend stopping by Weddings 826 during your dress search!

I went to several places in Chicago to look for my wedding dress. I wanted it to be perfect. My mother flew in from another state so we could have our little "mother/daughter bonding" time during this process. We went from one place to another and felt like we were in a constant "cattle call"...not exactly the experience we were hoping for. The last place on my list was recommended by a friend - WHY DID I NOT GO TO WEDDINGS 826 FIRST!?!!? We walked in to this beautiful, vintage feeling boutique and were greeted with warm, friendly smiles. We were offered a glass of champagne and a little chocolate and had the whole place to ourselves to look at their dresses and enjoy our time together. THIS WAS THE EXPERIENCE WE WERE LOOKING FOR! Not only did I find two dresses that were more beautiful than anything I found at the other places, but they were a MUCH more attractive price!! I picked one and bought it the next day. I had a few fittings and brought in a few friends and family with me for the experience - I had so much FUN every time I walked into this store - I got everything here: dress, veil (2 actually!), jewelery, something to cover my shoulders on the brisk fall day of my wedding...Suzy helped me pick it all out...her taste and expertise is seriously unmatched. I couldn't have done it without her!

This store is an absolute must go!!! The service is the best, and the selection is extremely unique. Everywhere else I went told me that it would take anywhere from 6-12 months to just receive my dress. With this shop I was able to find a dress & have it altered within 3 months! Not to mention I got ALL of my accessories from them. They even have a 15% off discount for LIFE. I ended up going back there to buy my mom a birthday present. I am recommending this to every woman I know getting married.

My dress was absolutely beautiful! At weddings 826, you buy a dress and they will work with you to make whatever changes that you want, which is what I did, and ended up with a truly original dress of my dreams. The girls there are so wonderful and helpful, and go above and beyond what is expected to create a truly memorable experience. At the end, I felt like they were family. All in all, Weddings 826 provided me with the dress I had always dreamed of, and an experience in which I will cherish forever.

I had an off the rack dress that needed quite a few things done, sleeves taken off, and taken in quite a bit - what I liked best (beyond their great work) was that they priced based on what I had done, not how many appointments. It gave me comfort that I could come back as many times as I needed to to like how the dress fit, vs trying to fit it into just a few fittings.

I thought I had found my dress somewhere else when I walked into Weddings 826 so I was quiet surprised when I found THE dress at 826. The boutique is adorable and so relaxed. For a relaxed bride I was in heaven. They've changed the store since then, when i first went I could look through all the gowns on the floor, they now keep a lot in the back. Their selection was wide and prices low! I ended up getting a discontinued dress for 50%. I wanted to change a lot to the skirt which was no problem. They did alterations there. Only downside is finding alteration dates that fit your schedule. They were open to doing as many appts as I wanted.

I also went through Weddings 826 to have my dress cleaned and persevered. You get a discount!

I would absolutely recommend weddings 826 to anyone that is getting married. The staff is amazing and actually picked out my dress for me based on my body type, and I absolutely love it! They make your fitting about you, and they are very honest with you. The prices are very reasonable for the dresses, because they are off the rack. If you are looking for a dress, you should absolutely head there.

I cannot say enough good things about Weddings 826. I was skeptical at first because I had heard their dresses were on the pricier side, but when I gave them my budget, they assured me that they had dresses within that budget. When I arrived, they made sure to not bring me ANY dress over my budget at all unless they told me the price before I tried it on, which I very much appreciated. Their dresses were on the upper end of my budget, but they had the most BEAUTIFUL dresses, and I ended up finding my dream dress there. My style consultant, Melissa, was also the head seamstress, so it was great to be able to speak with her about the fabric and how the alterations would go.

I bought my dress from Weddings 826 after only going to one other boutique prior to. I dreamt of having a lace dress but was worried I wouldn't find one in my price range after seeing BEAUTIFUL ones as the other salon but not liking the price tag. So when the woman at Weddings 826 started pulling lace dresses into the changing room, I stopped her and said "sorry, I don't want to get my hopes up." and she responded with "of course not, these are in your range!" I was shocked and so excited. She patiently helped me try on 10+ dresses, tolerated the giggles, dragged-out oos and ahhs of my friends and mother-in-law, and joined in on the laughter and talks of wedding planning. She made the experience so wonderful and I am so excited to wear that dress in three short months!

Weddings 826 is a fabulous dress boutique! It was the first and only place I looked for a wedding dress, and the experience was wonderful. As soon as you walk in the door they offer water, tea, or champagne, and they have plenty of hershey's kisses, too. They let you look at all of the dresses they have and you can pick as many as you'd like to try on. I think I tried on a total of 11 or 12. The staff is very helpful and suggest styles they think will be flattering. I marked the value down 1 star because the alterations are very expensive. However, they did an excellent job and the price was always the same, even though I needed 4 fittings until it was perfect. I absolutely loved my wedding dress, and my husband did, too! If you're looking for a fun shop that feels like a high end boutique, definitely try out Weddings 826!

Weddings 826 was only the second place I went to look at dresses - and I didn't have to look any farther! The staff listened to my dress preferences and brought in THE dress in the first batch. I was also able to negotiate the price a bit, which was much appreciated. They were very accommodating for me as I went through a cross-country move in between buying the dress and picking it up. Strongly recommend!

Such a cute little boutique. i was nervous going to a place like this in the city for my first time shopping because they can be so expensive. They definitely had some reasonble options. They dont have a TON to choose from but they get new things in often. Great place, super nice girls!

I was very happy with weddings 826. Trying on dresses there was fun, the owner, Suzi helped me for my entire appointment. When I bought my dress with them, they helped me find a swatch to match and were really helpful with questions. Their seamstress, Maggie, is just awesome, her work is impressive and she's super nice. And when I took my dress home, Suzi herself carried it out to the car for me. This is the place to go if you want personal and excellent service that you won't get at a chain bridal store.

I really liked Weddings 826! Its a small, boutique-style bridal shop in an older building so space is limited for trying on dresses. The staff is very nice and accommodating! I didn't buy a sash when I tried on my dress but much later decided I wanted that one- they didn't have it but sent me pictures of similar ones. And if you buy your dress there, you get 15% off accessories! I also happened to go in during a storewide sale so I got another 15% off the sash I ultimately chose.

Overall I had a great experience at Weddings 826. It was the second place I looked and although I felt a tad rushed in my dress appointment, the whole place was exactly what I had envisioned when shopping for my wedding dress. The location and building were very cute and we had the whole entire front room to ourselves. I didn't necessarily click with the girl pulling dresses for me but she did end up pulling the dress I eventually chose so that made up for it. The dress was absolutely gorgeous and under my budget. Also, since they had just gotten the dress in and it was in my size, I was able to take it with me that day instead of ordering it! We were served champagne after the choice was made and overall the experience was wonderful. They have gorgeous dresses in a very wide range of prices. I also went there for my veil and accessories and that appointment was amazing. The girl I worked with then was extremely friendly and helpful. And I received 15% off all my accessories. Definitely a great one stop shop for all your dress and accessory needs!

I bought my dress here off the rack Nov 2013, 5 months prior to our wedding. I loved having the store to myself & my friends. I felt they had a good variety of dresses & reasonable prices for the size of the shop, plus the place is adorable. I did buy my dress here, & looked amazing after alterations, which I had done elsewhere. My only small complaint is they didn't offer champagne to all my friends. Great store in the heart of Lincoln Park.

I really loved working with Weddings 826. I was going to be about 15 minutes late to my first appointment at Weddings 826 and they still encouraged me to come in and try on a few dresses. When we came in they were quick to get some ideas from on what I was looking for and where my price range was at. They quickly pulled dresses that were all great options - the last one ended up being MY DRESS. Once we decided that it was my dress, they brought in champagne for us (mom, friend and myself) and helped us celebrate! I ended up doing my alterations and accessories from weddings 826 as well. Best part about the place is that it's so close to Lincoln park, so it was very convenient.

I purchased my wedding dress at 826 after a friend referred me due to her wonderful experience. I also had a wonderful experience - as Suzie and her team were professional and absolutely sweet as could be. I adored working with them.

I had a ton of alterations done to my dress since after purchasing I realized I wanted the style to be a bit different. I think the alterations were VERY affordable considering how much I had done to the dress.

The ONLY reason I am giving them a less-than-perfect score is due to the fact that there was a large needle left in my dress after I picked it up to wear on my wedding day. I didn't notice it until halfway through pictures, when I tried to smooth my dress and pricked my finger. Due to the tons of layers on the dress, I could not located the edge of the needle in order to take it out, so throughout the night I kept pricking myself (especially while dancing!) The entire time I was worried about blood getting on my dress.

However, this could be avoided as brides should just check every aspect of your dress before putting it on. Otherwise a wonderful establishment!! Truly the nicest people out there.

Weddings 826 is the first bridal shop I went to with my mom. Owner Suzi helped us and was very friendly and helpful without being pushy. She made suggestions, but ultimately let me pick out dresses I wanted to try on (I ended up buying the dress she picked).

I wanted to avoid the chain bridal shops and shop local, so this Lincoln Park shop was perfect. They had a great selection of independent and well-known designer sample and new gowns in many price ranges. Sizes tend to run small on the sample gowns, though I believe they can order sizes on some gowns. The gowns are sold off-the-rack, a great option if your wedding is approaching. It was nice to take the dress home, instead of waiting for 6 months.

I tried on several dresses, but decided to look at a few other local shops before making my decision. I returned to Weddings 826 several times—finally making my decision on the fourth visit—but never felt any pressure from the sales staff. Overall, it was a fun, no-stress shopping experience. I ended up with a dress I loved and received many compliments on.

I bought my dress and had it altered at Weddings 826. I was really happy with the dress, which turned out to be really unique and felt very personal - not sure I could have found such a dress elsewhere. The dress buying appointment was a mixed bag: I wish they had robes or more privacy since you usually bring in people with you and there was nowhere to change except right in front of them, and I felt like our consultant had to warm up to us as the appointment went on (awkward, when you're naked...). Alterations were not cheap but overall the alterations staff were very nice. I am not someone whose weight fluctuates much, so I feel like it should have been a simpler process. Instead, they didn't space out the appointments or start early enough so with several take-it-in, let-it-out tries, I ended up with last-minute appointments just days before the wedding. On the last one, which they did go out of their way to arrange, the dress felt a bit too snug and I was panicking. They offered to let it out just a tiny fraction of an inch so I would have just a little more breathing room but the bust wouldn't fall. Unfortunately, when I put it on the morning of the wedding, it really seemed too loose and the bust did fall - not quite the subtle adjustment I was expecting. My bridesmaids said you couldn't see it was too loose, thank god, but I could feel it. I was glad to be able to breathe a bit more but was disappointed that it wasn't what I wanted. Also, a piece of the boning in the dress poked through and actually cut my skin quite a bit on one side, although I don't know if they could have done anything at all to prevent that. Was just super disappointing. Overall, I did find that the staff were very nice, certainly professional, they always offer tea and champagne, they really want brides to be happy and feel beautiful...it just didn't work out completely for me.

My fitting experience was great - I found the perfect dress pretty quickly and I loved it! The prices were pretty reasonable here especially considering the quality of the dress.
I did my alterations here, and the alterations worked out great in the end. However, after my first fitting they did take the dress in too much, let it out not enough after the second fitting, and had to let it all back out to the original spot after the third fitting. This was stressful for me, because I hadn't gained any weight, but it is nerve-racking when your dress doesn't fit. The alterations were pretty expensive too. I did like that I got a phone call reminder the day before every single appointment. Overall it was a positive experience, though the alterations were stressful.

This shop is BY FAR the best place in the city to buy a wedding dress. Suzi, the owner, is a fashionista without pretense. Her staff, including De___ (I can't remember her unique name), are professional and exceptional listeners. After trying on four dresses, this remarkable woman picked up my dress and invited me to try it on, encouraging me with "it will do nice things on your shape". It was perfect. I felt like Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, and Grace Kelly rolled into one.

Their selection of veils and jewelry are the best in the city but not cheap. Bring a mom or an aunt who get really caught up in the romance of it to help offset costs. My dress was a steal so I felt like I could indulge a little on accessories.

I purchased my wedding dress at Weddings 826 for my recent May wedding, and my dress was altered there as well. The shopping and altering experiences were a bit different. From a shopping perspective, I HIGHLY recommend Weddings 826. They have a large selections of dresses and a great assortment of styles, and the dresses are beautiful!! You can get real bargains here because many of the dresses are directly from the manufacturer, which lowers the price but certainly not the beauty of the dress! If you're still shopping for a dress, go to Weddings 826 right now!

The alteration experience was not as fantastic. For one, I think that from the beginning my dress was the wrong size. When I bough it, the woman told me part of my body is a 4, part of it a 6, and part of it an 8. She said this was strange. Well, I am a petite person (though not super-skinny) of 5 foot two inches and 115 pounds, and CLEARLY I should have gotten the 6, even if I had to pay some extra to have it let out a bit, which would have been less that what I ended up putting into having this huge dress cut down to size. They recommended I get the 8 and that's what they ordered, without much discussion on the matter. From the beginning alterations were a challenge because the dress was made for somebody about 6 inches taller and generally larger than me. The alteration process had a few hiccups along the way, and in general I often felt rushed and confused. I strongly feel the alterations department is understaffed, because they have a large space and it seems this operation would really benefit from another alterations employee. The experience could have surely been much, much worse, and overall was pretty good, but it was not top-notch and was sometimes frustrating.

First let me say that I loved the dress and the shop itself. It was a great experience and I would shop their again. What caused me to give the shop lower scores is that I was not pleased with the seamstress at all. I believe her name was Maggie. If you purchase the dress at the shop, I would recommend taking it somewhere else to get fitted. I read the yelp reviews and thought Maggie would be fine, but looking back, I agree with all of them.

All in all, great shop, great dress, but not a great in house seamstress (and she charges a fortune for sub-par work).

Weddings 826 is a darling dress shop. They have a great selection of dresses and I was able to find something that was one of a kind. I tried on a total of 6 dresses, my dress was number 2. They served us champagne and chocolate, it was a delightful experience. I do not recommend getting the alterations done by them, like I did. My dress was altered and came out to be a nightmare. I had to have a couture dress designer fix all of their mistakes. In the end the dress was perfect, but please do not make the same mistake I did.

The team was unprofessional. Our consultant was inattentive, eating and on her phone during the appointment. She didn't to listen to what I was looking for while pulling dresses. My mom had to help me in and out of dresses. I cut the appointment short because it was such a train wreck.

When my dress arrived at the hotel the night before the wedding the alterations had not been properly completed. I had to request that a family friend who is a seamstress come to the hotel the morning of the wedding (thankfully the wedding was in the evening) and finish the dress. The vendor did compensate me for the error, but it added a great deal of stress to my day.

Issues with Alterations Process/Pricing

At the end of the day I loved my dress and the process of picking it. However I did have issues with the service for the alterations. When I was there to pick the dress they let me take my time and really talked through everything with me. Once I moved into the alterations phase they were always rushing me through appointments - it seemed clear that they work for commission and prioritized the sales appointments versus the tailoring. Suzy - the main seamstress - was on maternity leave so I did not work with her for my dress. I ended up having to come back 4 times because I kept finding new issues that we didn’t notice because they rushed through appointments. For example - I paid $250 to get the train removed before the dress was actually delivered to me. The seamstress never read that in my “file” and kept telling me I needed a bustle. I kept saying I didn’t want one and it wasn’t until the 3rd appointment that she realized I had already paid to get the train taken off. Also - at the last appointment I put the dress on and the staff looked for about 3 seconds, said it fit perfectly and rushed me out. I knew I didn’t feel right in the dress so I asked another staff member if I could go back into a dressing room and try the dress on again — when I did we noted the back was too long, the right side was not even with the left in a part that was altered around my shoulders and when the seamstress had changed the length of the shoulder straps - she had not blended them, so the back part of the strap was way wider than the front. Had I not insisted on trying the dress on again all of those things would have been there for the day of. I was not able to try on the final product before the day of and had to just trust everything would fit right. It did in the end - but definitely didn’t help with the anxiety in the last week. Alterations also cost $300 more than they told me they would, ended up being about 50% of the cost of the dress. The pricing for alterations was also super confusing/not transparent - they had a pricing list posted in one of the dressing rooms and when it didn’t match up with my invoice I asked why it was different - they said it was because of the material of the dress, which was not specified on the pricing list they had posted. In numerous appointments I heard staff asking each other what certain alterations should cost - it seemed like they just make it up as they go. Again - I loved my dress at the end of the day, but they definitely need to improve the alterations process. If you go here make sure to be very assertive throughout the alterations appointments and insist they take their time to make sure they catch everything.
