We (and our guests) cannot stop raving about how amazing Jeff was as our officiant. Very rarely do guests spend the entire cocktail hour asking "where did Jeff go?!" but they did at ours. We wanted to have a really heartfelt ceremony with some funny moments and we couldn't have asked for a better partner in that. He listened to our desires and helped us make our ceremony true to who we are as a couple. Beyond that, he has been an incredible resource throughout the wedding process, explaining everything about the marriage license process, to giving much-needed wedding day hugs and support. We would highly recommend Jeff as an officiant if you want a ceremony true to you, filled with love, and just the right amount of humor. -

Jeff is super polished and a pro at officiating weddings. But what is amazing is how much effort and time he took to really get to know us as a couple and coach us through the process of deciding on a script for the ceremony. We were really getting down to the (wedding) wire (haha), and he was there with us revising our plan for the big day until the last minute, never making us feel rushed. He helped us with everything, from this, to giving a great performance at the wedding as an officiant, and then handling the process of getting the wedding recognized by the city.
Really could not recommend more to go with Jeff for your wedding. Definitely give him a call! -

We are very happy we chose Jeff as our officiant for our wedding. Before we even booked with him he spent well over an hour getting to know us and telling us about his process. He worked very closely with us to make sure that our ceremony was truly unique to our vision, but also gave us a lot of templates and advice so to help ensure everything was seamless. After designing our ceremony together, he met with us to walk us through exactly how it would go – with lots of jokes to keep us relaxed and having fun. He also loves dogs, so you know he is good people. We received a lot of compliments from our guests on the ceremony, especially with the unity ceremony we chose to do after discussion and advice from Jeff. Our ceremony was truly unforgettable, and we owe so much of that to Jeff. You will not regret choosing him as your officiant! -

We highly recommend Jeff! After our ceremony, we had several family members tell us what an amazing job Jeff did. His voice is loud and clear so even our guests in the back and our elderly guests could hear. He also speaks with amazing confidence and at a cadence that is not too fast or too slow.
My now-husband is Filipino and we knew we wanted to incorporate some Filipino traditions in our wedding. When looking for an officiant, we weren't sure we would find someone familiar with the traditions, but then we found Jeff! When we first met with Jeff virtually, he was already very knowledgeable about Filipino traditions and he made us feel very comfortable from the start. We knew he was the one.
Leading up to the wedding he sent over plenty of ceremony templates for us to review and piece together as we'd like. We also met with him in person to go over the final ceremony script. Here, he walked us through how we should be positioned at the altar for the best photos. Day of, he checked in with us both separately before the ceremony and cracked a few jokes, which put us at ease. We're very happy with our decision to choose Jeff as our officiant! -

Jeff did a great job with our wedding ceremony, offering both humor and touching moments. He took the time to get to know us as a couple and incorporated several personal touches throughout the ceremony. He also kept us calm and on track throughout the rehearsal and ceremony. I also liked the library of ceremony scripts and readings he provided at the outset, which helped us craft a ceremony script that was specific to our preferences and need for a hybrid approach (incorporating both Buddhist and secular elements). Best officiant you can find
Jeff was incredible. We cannot recommend him strongly enough. He was everything we could have asked for on our big day. He was the star of the day lol. All of our guests at one point or another during the reception mentioned how much they loved him and how great the ceremony was. He is the perfect blend of professional, funny, serious, spiritual, everything you could want.

Jeff was an AMAZING part of our wedding weekend. He was professional and prompt in all his communications, even responding to us while he was on vacation with some crazy time difference. Meeting with him before signing the marriage certificate was a great experience, he was so much fun to be around, entertaining our parents as well as taking the time to get to know us, giving us tips and tricks for our ceremony officiant for everything to run smoothly on the big day. He was so engaging and fun, even though we only hired Jeff in his official capacity as a civil celebrant, I know any ceremony he officiates would be compassionate, meaningful, and moving. THE BEST- Contributed Beautifully to our Ceremony
We can’t thank Jeff enough! Jeff arrived early, he was so kind, so professional and so helpful. Our wedding ceremony was extremely small and at a private residence- being so intimate and still so exciting and emotional, there was a bit of floundering going on with direction (lol). Jeff stepped in with professionalism, experience, confidence and kindness and got us on the right track. We couldn’t have appreciated it more. Jeff was so kind, he offered a wide variety of templates for our vows, he was extremely knowledgeable, was beyond helpful, wrote down how many certified wedding certificates to get from the courthouse and explained why/what we would need them for. The words at the ceremony were beautiful, he incorporated our dogs and a bit of humor without losing the elegance and even had a handkerchief ready for my joyful, mascara runny tears! We are so grateful we had Jeff officiate for us and we recommend him with our highest regards. -

Let me tell you, this is not Jeff's first rodeo - he's a seasoned professional when it comes to being an officiant.
From the start, communication with him was super easy - we had emails, and we had Zoom meetings where we got to dive into our specific needs. There was not one single time where we felt we weren't being taken care of or out of the loop.
We had a few asks for our ceremony - having parents come up for a short prayer, keeping things light in spite of some recent deaths in the family, and somehow making a 30 minute ceremony something that's actually fun for people to sit through. He actually delivered on all of that plus more. We worked with him on the programming since he provides a bunch of different options depending on your ceremony type and preferred content, and at the end of the day we knew we were getting something that we not only approved of, but were really looking forward to.
On the day of our wedding, he checked in with us before the ceremony to go over the important last details - where people should stand, how we can hold hands, any other caveats to it. We felt like we were going in with a clear picture of the ceremony which helped keep our nerves calm.
He was always good about reminding us about the wedding license, and after the wedding, gave a great amount of detail on what's next - whether that included name changing or just getting some certified documents.
Honestly I can't recommend Jeff enough - he didn't feel like a vendor, he felt like a friend, and we could not be more happy with our decision to work with him on our special day. Obviously, we know this marriage is the one, but 10/10 would still hire Jeff again LOL -

He was very communicative through the whole process, and helped us craft a ceremony script that was extra meaningful to us. We had an impending storm during our ceremony, and Jeff navigated the timing of the ceremony to make sure we finished in time but still got all the aspects of the ceremony included. Jeff knocked it out of the park! My husband and I aren’t part of an organized church so we asked our wedding planners to recommend an officiant for our wedding day. After reading Jeff’s BIO on his website, we felt so emotionally connected to his story that we replied to the intro email stating that “we knew he was the right person for us” all before we ever had a chance to speak with him! Thankfully our gut was right!
The process matters! Jeff followed up quickly to schedule a 60 minute video call with us the following week. He made us feel at ease from the very start. He asked us questions about our lives as individuals, our families, puppies, hobby’s, interest’s and some of the logistics for our day. We felt so comfortable with his genuine interest and delivery that we shared some personal stories we didn’t expect to share during that very first meeting. There was no doubt by the end of our call that this guy was/is a subject matter expert in the world of weddings! Jeff sent us a follow up email that night with examples of various readings, vows, poems and other unique cultural ideas to consider for our ceremony.
Our next call was about a month later. We sent him our feedback on the ideas we loved and he walked us through each verse while incorporating his incredible humor where it made sense. He made kind hearted suggestions regarding placement of the more emotional moments expressing love for those we lost then he explained how he’d lift the room back up so that the rest of the ceremony would be about the celebration of our love!
A couple weeks before our wedding day he met us at the venue while doing our first walk through with the planners. Jeff provided insight on more than just the ceremony. We were so thankful for his level of experience from so many different venue scenarios. He guided us on what type of lighting would work best, what to discuss with the photographers, sound and microphone techniques, and even the best way to manage the train on my dress! Yes, we had planners but it was Jeff who left no gaps to fill and put us at ease during an otherwise chaotic time!
Jeff officiated our ceremony with ease and command of our 150 guests. He made us laugh. He made them laugh and he was an absolute pro at reading the room to adlib off script when the tears were flowing. Undeniably the best person we could’ve had standing by our side on our wedding day.
My advice to anyone just starting to plan their wedding... meet with Jeff first. He's a great officiant with the value add of being a wedding SME. I wish I had his long list of good and not so good vendors he's worked with over the years from the very beginning!

A true professional
Jeff came highly recommended across Alexandria. You would have thought he was paying the venues to give out his name! We knew he would do a good job based on his experience and the fact that he knew our venue. My fiancé and I waited until the very last minute to determine and inform those that would be walking in the procession (no wedding party) but nothing phased Jeff and he coordinated it all. He stuck to a light hearted ceremony that we requested and knew when to pause for planes/helicopters and “perspiration breaks”. I would definitely recommend Jeff to anyone in the area. -

The Perfect Officiant
We happened upon Jeff’s website while searching for an officiant for an immediate family-only micro ceremony. We chose to have a more intimate legal ceremony before our larger wedding date and enlisted Jeff’s help in making this possible. Jeff was simply incredible to work with. He was personable, friendly, helpful, and cares about the couples that he is officiating. Jeff was extremely responsive and communicative, going above and beyond to answer any questions as well as get to know us. We trusted Jeff to create a ceremony for us and we’re so glad he did! He had the right balance of humor, romance, and insight to initiate our married life together. He also helped us to write our own vows, giving us suggestions and tips. He even shared some things for us to use at our larger public ceremony to follow. Most importantly, Jeff allowed us to make our goldendoodle puppy a part of our ceremony. During the day of, our selected ceremony located looked dirty and unkept. Jeff quickly moved us to another location, a thoughtful touch we will always remember. Right from the start, Jeff made an effort to get to know me and my now husband in order to craft an extremely personalized wedding ceremony. If we dreamed up the perfect officiant, it would be Jeff! He was punctual, professional, funny, and thoughtful throughout our whole process and we had a very long process. Due to COVID, we ended up having to change our wedding date 3 times including a last minute cancellation 24 hours before our second date. Jeff was a trooper throughout all of this and even revised our ceremony the night before so that it reflected the change in plans when we did our first small ceremony in front of just immediate family. He was open to hearing our thoughts on our ceremony and flexible to meet our needs. He didn't try to push or force his views or agenda and focused on what we wanted for our special day and worked to make it happen. Jeff helped make our ceremony perfect - personal, sentimental, emotional and personal. We loved that Jeff got to know us and weaved it into the ceremony. We had several guests tell us that it was the best ceremony they've ever witnessed and we couldn't agree more! Just Call Jeff!
We’ll just start out by saying that if you are looking for someone to help you make your wedding the absolute best day it could be, then look no further, just call Jeff. When we spoke to Jeff for the first time (by the way, we planned our wedding during Covid lockdown, so our first “meeting” with Jeff was a video call), we were so impressed by how personable and warm he is, and how he immediately made us feel like we were in good hands with him. If you are planning your wedding, you know how overwhelming it can feel at times, but Jeff’s calm, confident and professional manner made us immediately feel we had the right resource to help us be successful. Jeff provided us with a great deal of information and ceremony templates which we used to tailor our ceremony to suit us and what we wanted it to be. He was able to answer all of our questions about licensing and how to record our marriage and even provided us with resources to use to get through the process of changing a name. Of note, when we were getting our marriage license (we got married in Washington DC), once the gentleman at the licensing office found out our officiant was Jeff, he assured us that Jeff knew all the procedures to get things done in DC and that Jeff’s reputation was to get his marriages documented quickly and correctly! Talk about peace of mind! Although our ceremony was held at a historic location in DC (DAR Constitution Hall), we had opted for a simple service that focused on our love for each other and on our families and close friends, so we did not have a formal rehearsal before the wedding; however, Jeff showed up on the morning of our wedding and made everything we had talked through in advance happen flawlessly! He was warm, funny (we had more than a few laughs during our ceremony which put us at ease), extremely professional, and confident throughout the ceremony. He communicated both the importance of what was occurring and the promise of our future together through his actions, demeanor, and words. He absolutely nailed it!
Bottom line is that we unreservedly recommend Jeff, he is truly amazing!

Chalk us up as another satisfied couple! All the 5-Star reviews are accurate and true - Jeff is an experienced professional officiant who provides a perfectly tailored ceremony that will suit you on your most important day. We worked with Jeff to do some pre-marital exercises in addition to having him do our ceremony and I can't say enough about how he supported us through the entire process. During the pre-marital sessions, we did some exercises to better understand the nuances of our personalities and how we can better support one another through communication. This wasn't "counseling," ( although I think he is qualified to help you there as well ), but rather tools that can help couples enrich their relationship. We both found this very insightful and helpful. We next worked to plan our ceremony with Jeff. First, he provided several candidate ceremonies covering the spectrum of types of wedding ceremonies (religious, not religious, serious, less serious, etc.) and he gave us suggestions as to overall flow, timing and content. Because he had gotten to know us through the pre-marital work he was able to really understand what we were looking for, and it really showed on our wedding day. We wanted our ceremony to be a "Goldilocks" ceremony from the standpoint of having the "just right" amount of religious content to be respectful of each other's beliefs as well as those of our families. More importantly, we wanted it to be sweet with a little bit of humor sprinkled in the right places. Simply put, Jeff nailed it. Just when we thought our mothers would start plowing through the boxes of tissues we had put next to them, Jeff would lighten the mood with a little humor that would evoke some chuckles from everyone present. Afterwards, nearly every person asked us, "Where did you find that officiant? He was AMAZING!" So, in summary, I can confirm the glowing reviews. It was a pleasure working with Jeff on our ceremony! He is very responsive and is clearly a pro at what he does. The ceremony is such an important part of your wedding and we had no idea where to start. Jeff provides extremely helpful templates as a guide and from there you can customize the ceremony to your liking. My husband and I wanted some religious elements/prayers but at the same time wanted to keep the ceremony modern and like "us". Jeff gets to know you as a couple and of course personalizes the ceremony to you as a couple.
He also provides guidance on the process for obtaining your marriage license prior to your wedding and also follow up information after your wedding re: name changes, etc. so no stone is left unturned.
As far as the actual ceremony, one of our guests commented that this was the best ceremony she has ever witnessed. Jeff is very light hearted and humorous and a great speaker. My friends and family commented how detailed and helpful he was with the little things, such as best angles for photographs and overall so the ceremony is smooth and effortless. He is also very familiar with tons of venues in the area and has likely worked with your DJ before.
My husband and I also did some pre-marital counseling sessions with Jeff which I highly recommend! -

Jeff was recommend by our wedding venue. My husband and I met Jeff through a zoom meeting (1 time) prior to our wedding. Jeff was professional and easy going. Jeff Maszal was honestly everything we could have asked for and more! He worked closely with us to create a customized ceremony script that was a fusion of the Greek Orthodox and Catholic religions. It was very important to me to incorporate certain elements of Greek tradition/culture in the wedding, and I was so pleased that Jeff was familiar with all the specifics (e.g. the crowns, the dance of Isaiah, etc.). Our guests were also so impressed with him - they thought he was extremely entertaining, and was able to keep the mood light and happy. He walked everyone through the various elements of the ceremony, keeping them included and engaged throughout as well. Jeff was a wonderful choice for our micro wedding at the Inn at Little Washington! We had to reschedule our wedding a few times due to COVID and ended up being on a tight timeline, but he helped us work it all out and it all ended up going perfectly!! We were able to meet with him on Facetime a few weeks before our wedding and knew he was the right choice! We could not have asked for a better experience and highly recommend Jeff! Jeff was extremely friendly and professional. Our wedding was a quick elopement. We traveled to Virginia with the plan of eloping. We reached out to Jeff that morning to see if he would be available that afternoon to marry us. Not only was he available and accommodating, but he helped us navigate the process of obtaining a marriage license (during COVID). Our expectations of a basic courthouse wedding were completely exceeded. Jeff provided us with many beautiful location options to have our small private ceremony since we were not familiar with the area. Jeff is a master of his craft. I literally had no idea what I was doing and Jeff calmly and professionally walked me through the process - He recommended location, recommended a Top Notch Photographer, clearly advised everything we had to do post ceremony and even drove to my house to get the marriage license as wedding day nerves got to me and could not find the license before the ceremony!!

Wow! Jeff was wonderful! I can't say enough positive things about him! As soon as we contacted him, he set up a video phone call with us. He asked us lots of questions about our relationship and formed a strong connection with us. I’ve never been to a wedding where I hear repetitive compliments on the officiant and being asked “Where did you find this guy?”, until we got married in October this year. Jeff came through for us in a lot of big ways. We were an unusual interfaith couple that needed some adjustments to our vows and he gave us a lot of samples to help us build a ceremony. From the moment that I first contacted Jeff, I knew he was the perfect choice for our wedding. He was flexible with our wedding date and time and offered us a customizable template to build our elopement ceremony into something very personal. He answered every question I had for him and gave us every material you could possibly want. He suggested everything from photographers to potential rain venues and even sent me directions on how to apply for a permit to use the DC War Memorial for our special day. He took the time to Facetime with me to get to know more about me and my partner and incorporated all of those details into our ceremony--even taking the time to mention our beloved dog!
