Mahtab is a hidden gem in OC!
Mahtab did an incredible job altering my wedding dress to fit me perfectly! She is so kind and enjoyable to be around and I looked forward to all my fittings with her. She finished alterations in ~6 weeks and her price was very affordable, especially considering how much fabric my dress had, and was very accommodating with my work schedule. I also don't typically love the look of bustles, but she made mine look really natural and I had no problems with it the night of the wedding. Thank you for everything Mahtab, you are the best!Mahtab did an incredible job altering my wedding dress to fit me perfectly! Perfect Wedding Alterations
Mahtab was efficient and professional, and did a fantastic job with my wedding dress alterations for an incredibly reasonable price. After alterations, my dress fit me perfectly. She also included a few details that made the dress easy to get into and to bustle, and gave me great tips for how to adjust the dress as I was putting it on to make sure I looked my best.
The appointments were painless as she has a ton of expertise and was able to get the measurements and markings she needed quickly. The entire process was seamless and she made sure to let me know she was available if I noticed anything or needed anything else. I was extremely satisfied with my experience!Mahtab was efficient and professional, and did a fantastic job with my wedding dress alterations for an incredibly reasonable price. Mahtab was absolutely AMAZING to work with!! She is truly a master seamstress! I was terrified to get my dress altered because it was a Milla Nova designer dress that had incredibly intricate and delicate lace covering everything. It also had an illusion neckline that made my shoulders and neck appear to be bare. That fabric is a super delicate almost nylon that is super easy to rip. I got it from Canada and the bridal shop warned me that I needed someone who knew how to work with the lace and intricate details because it was so unique and hard to work with. I poured through wedding alteration websites looking for altered dresses that looked like mine and could find no one in Los Angeles or Orange County. Finally, I stumbled upon Mahtab and saw that previous reviewers had expressed similar situations and that Mahtab was the right person for the challenge. And they were one hundred percent correct!
From the moment I met Mahtab I could tell she was a true professional and put all of my worries at ease. She had me put on the dress and immediately saw what needed to be altered. I needed the shoulders tightened as well as the waist and needed a bustle. She was so efficient and quick.
When I came back for the second fitting she had fixed the shoulders which had been super hard because of the delicate see-through fabrics and had started work on the bustle. She made sure I knew how she was altering the dress to make the bustle work. She had to move flowers around to hide the button and clasps but she did it so artfully and it still looked beautiful. She guided my future mother-in-law on how to bustle it and made sure I was happy with the finished looked. The bustle was gorgeous and she really made the whole thing look effortless!

I LOVE MAHTAB! My dress came out PERFECTLY. I purchased a J Crew Luella dress and wanted to customize it by adding sheer sleeves. I made an appt and explained my vision and gave her photos. We had about 4 meetings in 4 months for sizing and make sure everything was going smoothly. The end result was exactly what I wanted. I was so happy. I received a TON of compliments on my dress and I owe it all to Mahtab for making it fit me like a glove and see my vision through.I LOVE MAHTAB! My dress came out PERFECTLY. Mahtab is the BOMB! I brought my lace YolanCris gown in needing quite a bit of taking in and bustling. Being in the Fashion industry I was very wary of who I took such an intricate gown to for alterations. I was immediately put at ease the moment I met her. She is SO friendly and welcoming! She made it fit like a glove and you couldn't even tell she touched it! I highly recommend Mahtab to any bride needing alterations!Mahtab is the BOMB! I found Mahtab when I was in a slight crisis. I had brought my dress to another location for alterations. A week before the wedding at my final fitting I realized that this person was not making my dress fit. I called and emailed Mahtab on a Saturday night and was at her house first thing Sunday morning (despite the fact that she usually does not see people on Sundays). I showed her my dress and she quickly picked out all the same concerns I had with the alterations the previous woman had done. As soon as she started pinning the dress and adjusting it, I knew it was going to be okay. I was back within 2 days for a fitting and then four days after dropping off my dress I was back at her house to pick it up! The alterations were absolutely amazing and the dress fit perfectly on my wedding day! Despite the tight timeline her prices were fair and affordable. I would highly recommend Mahtab to any bride. Mahtab was recommended to me by a family friend who had used her for her own wedding, and when I saw the Yelp reviews, I knew Mahtab was the only choice. And she literally worked a miracle for me. I cannot recommend her more highly.
I bought an incredibly gorgeous & unique platinum column-style gown when I was dress shopping with my sister-in-law for HER wedding to my brother over 10 years ago. I didn't have a groom, but I absolutely HAD to have this dress! It was a crazy decision at the time, but I know what I like when I see it, and I've still never seen anything like it before or since. That said, I bought this dress in my mid-twenties. Now, in my late thirties, I'm still thin, but my body has changed & has more womanly curves...it's just a fact of life. So unfortunately, the dress no longer fit in the hip/rump area. But it was the ONLY dress I was going to wear, and the embroidered vine motif of the train was incorporated into every part of our wedding design, so it HAD to work. And Mahtab made it happen.
She had to open all the seams, including darts & zipper, etc, in order to get as much extra fabric as she could, and then sew it all back together. (I did my part with diet & exercise, too.) Plus, I'd always wanted to change the neckline from the very dated off-the-shoulder strap situation to a classic straight-across strapless. She handled that with no problem, as well as created a bustle.
With all her extensive work, it wasn't an inexpensive endeavor. But the original cost of the dress plus her alterations was still only a fraction of what I would have paid for a new dress. And for something this important, I would have paid more if I had to. (But I'm glad I didn't have to, because I spent it on shoes instead. Ha.)
I can't imagine wearing another dress for our wedding, and it couldn't have happened without Mahtab. She's amazing.

I found Mahtab on Yelp as well, and my mother and sister have been so amazed/impressed with my find....best decision of my whole wedding experience(besides the groom!).
I purchased my wedding gown on Craigslist, as I am not one to spend $1000's on a one time use purchase. My gown was OK, the first bride looked very pretty in it, and had my basic measurements, and the price was right...but I never had that "say yes to the dress" moment. Until I got it back from Mahtab!!!
I had gone in months before for an initial consultation. She looked at the dress and told me to call back closer to the wedding date. When I brought it in for the initial alteration she finished it in 2 weeks! When I came in to try it on, my heart stopped!! It was like it had been mine and only mine from the start. It fit like a glove!!
I left it for 2 more weeks for her to finish the remaining alterations.
My dress is a satin mermaid style dress with rouching on the bodice. To take in the dress at the hips and waist, add a bustle to the organza skirt, and repair the satin buttons in the back, she charged about $250 (?). For what I got, to me it was a STEAL!
She works out of her beautiful home in Laguna Niguel, is so prompt in communication, and so sweet. She has a lot of fabulous recommendation from where to get my dress cleaned to my petticoat and shoe slippage!

There's a reason why Mahtab gets so many 5 stars on Yelp, and that's because she's awesome! I'm so glad that my friends recommended her. She altered my dress perfectly, and the bustle looked gorgeous. She's very kind, very professional, and very warm. One of my friends warned me that she won't remember my name but she will remember my dress. Actually, she greeted me by name all 3 times that I saw her. :-) She was very kind to my mom, who came with me on the 2nd visit, and showed my mom how to hook up the bustle and how to layer it to make it fall perfectly. Mahtab is also very honest, and she told me to get bra inserts on my very first visit, and reminded me again on my second visit. Yes, I'm small. :-)
I also had Mahtab make a veil for me - an elbow length, very simple veil with a thin lining around the edge. All of it is just perfect!

After reading lots of questionnable reviews of other tailors, both in LA and OC, as well as getting a quote from a place in LA for a minimum of $900 to bring up the hem of my dress, I contacted Mahtab. She was sweet, efficient, and a great deal!! At the time of my first consultation with Mahtab, I was not super excited about my dress (silk organza Amsale) - I was actually worried I had settled and picked the wrong one. I also had thought there wouldn't be much to take in, other than the hem, but she immediately made a few other recommendations that helped the dress fit perfectly - so much so that I fell back in love with my dress after she was done with it! My wedding dress was a little bit large on the bust and I took it to Mahtab for help. Mahtab was very friendly and professional. She recommended that I add some lacy straps instead of taking the dress in (which actually meant that she would get paid less because adding the straps only costed me $50) I am so glad I followed her suggestion, because I ended up with BEAUTIFUL straps added to the dress and they look like they were meant to be there to begin with. Mahtab did a wonderful job. Great value! I could totally trust her to make any changes to my Vera Wang dress!My wedding dress was a little bit large on the bust and I took it to Mahtab for help. I was torn between two alteration specialists.
I knew after all the reviews that I wanted to get an estimate from Mahtab. Originally I was going to have her:
1. Take in the bust
2. Add Bustle
3. Hem the bottom of the dress
When meeting with her for the first time she was VERY friendly and welcoming.
After trying on the dress Mahtab said to buy a "mermaid crinoline", and that I might not even need to have the hem altered. When I went in a second time ( 1st fitting) I only needed a bustle. She suggested that I not get the bust taken in since it was just perfect, she didn't want to create "spillage".
I had 2 fittings in all. The dress had a 9 point french bustle with ties. The ties held up ALL night, and my dress was rather heavy, and not once did the bustle come loose.

Mahtab is amazing! She's a true expert at what she does. My dress needed little alterations, but we had the hem shortened, the hips taken in, and she even gave me two bustles! I got to have one bustle for the first part of the reception and then I switched to the second bustle just for fun :) She was so sweet and listened to exactly what I wanted. My dress needed little alterations, but we had the hem shortened, the hips taken in, and she even gave me two bustles! I brought my wedding dress home last night after expert and very reasonably priced alterations by Mahtab. My dress is all lace and she performed alterations perfectly.
Alterations performed:
- lace sleeves were too big, she brought them in and shaped them to my shoulders.
- needed cups put in so that I am able to wear my dress without a bra
- hemmed my lace dress to make it a bit shorter
- bustle put in
Every alteration is perfect. The length is perfect and she kept the perfect integrity of the lace at the bottom. The sleeves now stay up and are perfect, but aren't too tight that they are uncomfortable. I can honestly say I was concerned how the bustle would look on a lace dress, but it is BEAUTIFUL! It looks like a lace waterfall and it is so easy to bustle the back. The cups didn't change the shape of the dress at all and now hold in my tatas perfectly.
Service - what a kind lady. She was always cheerful, polite, gave wonderful advice and insight on different options to wear a beaded belt I purchased. She responded to emails and calls quickly which is a huge plus for me. And she only charged $300 for all the alterations above! SO reasonably priced compared to dress shops that will gouge you. She even hugged my stressed out mama as we were leaving for the last time with my dress.

It was taken in up top, and hemmed at bottom- the cost was a little above the norm at 250.00 for those two things but the quality was amazing! and if there is one day/thing you don't want to take chances on and should spend the extra on its your wedding ! So to me it was worth it to know it was being handled by someone who would not only NOT mess it up but do an amazing job!I highly recommend Mahtab!
