Best experience, especially for a Bridezilla!!

TLDR. I looked at almost every venue from northern California to Central California and decided on Vizcaya! It fit my vision, budget, amenities and everything else!!! I am a control freak who went to college to be a wedding planner (did not end up doing it) and very happy with Vizcaya!! Worth it!!!

My husband and I got married here over labor day weekend in 2022! It was an amazing experience from start to finish!!! After going to a few different weddings since my big day, I realllyyyyy appreciate how organized and beautiful Vizcaya is!!! I liked that Vizcaya was BYOB and provided all the bar services. I'll go over some of the more important things for me below

Begining process: I first inquired about this venue in March 2020 and worked with Sam who went over every detail. I liked that Vizcaya was BYOB and provided all the bar services. I believe I did about 5 or 6 planning meetings, I did a lot because I postponed my wedding, and did an extra 1 before Sam went on maternity leave.

    Wedding day:
They highly reccomend/ almost require using their DJ list and I am glad they do. We used BEAT FLEET and I am still getting compliments about how good they were!! You really need a company who can work with your Day of Coordinator. I went to a wedding where the DJ started playing the first dance while the bride was talking to their guests! Also, the speaker was too far from the wedding so there was a delay when the officiant talked. So don't try going out side their list, or use a friend to save money. Thankfully, I didn't have any of those issues and the music was perfect.

    My Day of Coordinator: Julia!
Julia was amazing she deserves her own paragraph!! My DOC changed a few months before my wedding since Sam left the company. Julia picked right back up from where Sam left and didn't skip a beat. We went over every little detail and Julia executed everything! On the wedding day, she was a rockstar. We had 7 bridesmaid and 6 groomsmen who were pretty buzzed and Julia was able to make sure they were where they needed to be and get things done on time! She worked with my photographer to make sure we were all where we needed to be and on schedule! It's a hard but important job! You will be in good hands!

The venue sets up and breaks down the decor for you! There's no cleaning up after the wedding and there's no lighting candles the day of your wedding. They provide that service for you!

Only smallll smallll issue I had was I think 1 box wasn't emptied all the way. For example, not all of my favors were put out, the bag I put them in was untouched, and my champagne flutes weren't used. It was a big box, so not a big deal at alll.

If you are lucky enough to come across this venue, please choose this place. You will not be disappointed!!

    Dream Wedding

From the moment I saw Vizcaya I knew this is where I wanted to get married. Beautiful historic location and all inclusive with the freedom to provide your own alcohol. We worked with Rachel and Taylor and both were very professional, caring and fun! I am a highly anxious person but I didn't even need to worry, everything went so smoothly. You have three planning meetings before rehearsal and the big day and Rachel was extremely responsive to our emails throughout the entire process. I was able to use some of their decor and personalize the day with my own as well. They have a list of suggested vendors who have worked with them in the past which is very helpful. We hired our DJ and photographers from this list and were extremely happy with our choices. Their food menu has a lot of options and many of our guests told us later that it was the best wedding food they've had.

My bridesmaids and myself stayed at their hotel the night before which is a great option for getting ready the day and we had a great experience there as well, gorgeous, clean rooms and the staff is fantastic.

Vizcaya has got to be the best venue in the area and I'm so glad we found them!

    Love you guys!

Beautiful all inclusive wedding venue and B&B

I had an evening wedding at Vizcaya that was amazing. Vizcaya is all inclusive so they set up and break everything for you and that was amazing and stress free. They also provide wedding coordinators, an in house chef, some decor and tables, linens chairs etc. I couldn't have asked for a better venue and wedding, the food and desserts from their chef was delicious and my coordinator was super helpful and handled business. My coordinator was Rachel Ryland and she is the best! She made sure everything was on point and perfect leading up to the day of the wedding and on the day of the wedding. She guided us through everything on the day of the wedding to help us have the best experience possible. The whole experience was amazing and the highlight of the night was Vizcayas bartender. I cannot remember his name but he was awesome and got the party going. He danced with us and served drinks at the same time. He made the night more fun so shout out to the Vizcaya bartender. Another thing that was amazing was that Vizcayas penthouse suite was complimentary to us so that saved us from having to book a car to leave the wedding venue and we didn't have to worry about booking a hotel. It was nice to be able to head straight up to our room at the end of the night. After the wedding, I received lots of compliments from my guests and all of them kept mentioning how good the food was and how beautiful the venue was.

    The perfect wedding day

We had our wedding at Vizcaya and had the pleasure of working with Rachel as our wedding planner. First off, everyone said the wedding was beautiful because Vizcaya is a beautiful venue. The food was delicious, and so were the drinks that Vizcaya's bartender prepared. Rachel did an excellent job keeping in contact with us, especially during COVID. She orchestrated the wedding to perfection and went above and beyond to ensure everything went off without a hitch. It was a pleasure working with her and all the great people at Vizcaya. They gave us our dream wedding.

    Couldn't have gone more perfect

After 3 postponements, we had our wedding July 18th. I have to say it was well worth the wait. Our wedding was cancelled two weeks prior to our original date due to COVID, so the wedding was essentially paid for. My husband and I decided to elope the day of and postpone our big wedding date.
Rachel was our coordinator and she was very flexible and easy to work with. She made our wedding day go so smoothly. Our guests raved about the wedding and the food was delicious! I highly recommend Rachel as your coordinator. She made sure everyone had food and was taken care of.
Even the unexpected guests that showed up. And always made sure my husband and I had our signature drinks in hand ;).

I would have really regretted not going through with our big day because of COVID. It was amazing!

    Amazing venue!

We absolutely loved getting married at Vizcaya! It's a great location (easy to get to), and the Vizcaya team made our wedding day so stress-free. Getting married during COVID, the coordinators did their best to be communicative, and we appreciated always having someone to contact with questions. We knew that the coordinators would get back to us even if they didn't have a certain answer because of the changing guidelines.
Our coordinator changed part way through our planning process, but Taylor ended up being really great. She fully jumped into her new role and everything flowed so smoothly on the day of our wedding. We are so, so appreciative of all of her hard work!
Reasons to book here: great combination of indoor and outdoor options, delicious food, the coordinators are amazing and set up everything for you, no corkage fee (rocks!), beautiful Victorian architecture, easy parking, and more!

Two postponements and cutting the guest list by more than half... Still even better than we could have imagined!

We booked our wedding in 2019 for 4/5/2020. Vizcaya was an instant favorite for us! Gorgeous property, perfect reviews, and friendly staff. Just 21 days before our original wedding date, we had to postpone due to COVID. Even then in the early, stressful days of the pandemic, our coordinator Rachel helped us deal with the disappointment and postpone to a later date in the fall without any issue. A few months later we decided to postpone again for the safety of our guests and Vizcaya happily helped us find our new date, 3/28/21. We cannot say enough about how amazing Rachel was! We met a handful of times to discuss the timeline and vision for the day. She was always helpful with ironing out ideas and developing a schedule for the day. I kept expecting to get nervous in the weeks leading up to the big day, but thanks to Rachel and the Vizcaya staff I truly never felt overwhelmed and I was able to stay excited and calm! The bride and groom getting ready rooms are a huge bonus. We were both able to spend the whole morning with our bridal party in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Rachel would pop in to say hi and check on us here and there, but mostly we were able to simply enjoy our favorite people and get ready! We had our ceremony in the east patio and it was absolutely perfect. Rachel had set up the reception and ceremony decorations exactly as I had imagined it, if not better! During photos after the ceremony, Rachel even followed us around the property with the photographers handing us sips of our signature cocktails. Helped calm the nerves and get us excited for the reception! The food at Vizcaya is delicious (especially the chicken cordon bleu and ceviche tostada appetizer). When asking some close guests about their experience that night, their only complaints revolved around the dining experience. We had ordered about 8 vegetarian meals, but they only made enough to serve 7 so one vegetarian family member was served chicken. Some guests shared that they never ended up getting any cake and were even told that they had run out, but the next day we were given a box with about ten servings left over! We did not notice any of the details in the moment as the head table's food was served quickly and accurately. This also does not seem to be a regular occurrence for Vizcaya, but at that time of our wedding that were short staffed. These are our only complaints! It truly was the best day and we are forever grateful to Vizcaya and Rachel for bearing with us through two postponements. We would absolutely recommend Vizcaya!

Beautiful property! Staff has details covered

Vizcaya is a wonderful place to get married - gorgeous property and above all else, the convenience and peace of mind of having all the expertise and resources to make a day run smoothly. You can actually relax and enjoy your day, knowing your guests are taken care of and your coordinator is keeping tabs on everything behind the scenes. Sounds minor but on the actual day-of and days leading up, it is invaluable. We were planning from afar (in San Diego) and our coordinator, Ali Boule, communicated very clearly and made the planning process simple yet tailored exactly to what we wanted from the day. I can't underscore enough how much benefit there is to having an assigned coordinator and a venue that can adapt to anything. Beautiful sunny day? Guests can enjoy the outdoor garden and courtyard. Sudden thunder storm? Everyone can go inside to the beautiful indoor reception hall. Forgot a sign or picture frame? They have a couple options to use. Another great aspect is all the things included: getting ready areas for bride and groom, bar tenders, wait staff, chairs, tables, linens, flatware...no fuss in coordinating a thousand vendors. Not to mention, being a B&B you and whoever you want can crash there at the end fo the night - another underrated perk that makes a huge difference. And they cover of all the takedown and cleanup - amazing!!

All in all, I highly recommend Vizcaya. The people has tons of experience and resources to lay the foundation for an awesome day with all important details accounted for. Beyond that, you can add or subtract whatever you want to make the day your own.

    Vizcaya Wedding 9/7/19

If I could, I would rate Vizcaya 6 out of 5 stars! Vizcaya was worth every penny! The coordinator was amazing. She did the timeline and dealt with all vendors and their drop off and pick up times. They have rooms available to stay on your wedding night for convenience. They allow you to bring your own alcohol and they do provide the bartender. It's a no brainer to choose Vizcaya. We had Rachel as our coordinator. She made sure everything was set up and then packed away. Great Value!! I LOVE the pillars and the fountain. They also DO allow sparklers.

    Best day ever at vizcaya!

Our wedding coordinator was Rachel and she was amazing! She took care of everything and I never had an ounce of stress throughout the whole wedding planning process and day of! We got married in May of this year on the weekend of the freak rain storm and she had every option for us available and made the day even more perfect than we ever dreamed of!! We chose Vizcaya because of all they had to offer/included and the amazing venue/beautiful grounds and they truly did help us have the most perfect Sunday Funday Brunch wedding!! All of our family and friends said it was the best and most fun wedding they have ever been to. Wish we could do it again! Thank you Vizcaya and Rachel.

Puts your mind at ease-they are pros

The main thing that drew me to Vizcaya was the on-site coordinator and the experience that they offer. Your coordinator at Vizcaya does more than typical venues. Most venues we visited would set up the tables/chairs the way you wanted them, but that was it. They also said they would not be responsible for timeline or keeping other vendors on schedule. At Vizcaya, they take care of setting up your decor, coordinating your other vendors to make sure they are on schedule and keep you on the timeline during the day. Not to mention, in the months leading up to your wedding they meet with you to go over every single detail of your big day so you all know exactly how it should go. On top of that the venue is gorgeous, well located and the food and service is really good. Oh, and you can supply your own alcohol with no corkage fees!

    Fantastic All-in-One Venue

We just had our Fall wedding at Vizcaya and everything went beautifully! It was so easy and convenient to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception all at one location and the guests all loved how beautiful the venue was. We planned our wedding in 8 months and worked with Rachel, the onsite coordinator who kept in constant communication with us. She made everything really easy and kept us organized throughout the whole process. We also used two of Vizcaya's vendors; Function 45 (DJ and photo booth) and Amour Florists, and we were very happy with them. One of our favorite features was the ability to host an Open Bar with alcohol that we bought ourselves (Costco) so it was cost effective but still fully serviced with a fantastic bartender. A great experience overall and we highly recommend.

When approaching Vizcaya, my husband and I were not sure how we were going to feel about it. After touring over 17 venue spaces for our Wedding on June 1st. That of course all changed the second we entered the mansion and met Lauren Bergenholtz.

Vizcaya was the best decision we could have made besides deciding to spend our lives together. The mansion is a mix of urban delight and old style European ambiance. The stained glass ceiling details and floor to ceiling arched windows in the ball room were truly breathtaking, it made it easy for me to design the perfect wedding for my husband and I.

Besides how beautiful it was- the best thing we got out of Booking with Vizcaya was Lauren Bergenholtz. The first day we met, we fell in love with her.

Not only did we gain an amazingly dedicated and hardworking Wedding Coordinator, but we established a new friend. Lauren made our lives so much easier. She kept us on track, was very accommodating, responded to anything we needed right away and of course was so much fun and freakin hilarious!

She's truly living her best life and all that positivity is much needed when planning a special day like this. The dinning crew was on point, they were all properly mannered and ready to get the job done- not too mention, the food was delicious. I had so many guests after the wedding tell me that the best Steak they have ever had was at our wedding. It's definitely not your usual basic "hotel menu" or "wedding food."

Lauren also gave us plenty of options to choose from that fit within our budget- florists, DJ's, photographers... you name it, she knew where to go! Everything was coordinated with our interest and budget in mind- any way Lauren could help she did.

The venue also had experience working with same sex couples, which was a huge plus! They made us feel welcome and really celebrated the love we shared for each other. Everything was exactly how I envisioned.

I'll be the first to admit--when we booked an appointment to see Vizcaya, I was prepared to hate it. I didn't want a cookie-cutter kind of wedding just like everyone else's. After meeting Lauren, seeing the value Vizcaya had to offer and the venue itself, I was in love.
First of all--Lauren--my savior. She was knowledgeable and knew the venue forward and back and helped us bring the vision of our wedding to life. Not to mention, she has great taste--I had nothing to do with the arrangements of our table centerpieces--all her--and they looked a-freaking-mazing. It was so easy to put details into her hands.
The East Patio, where we had our ceremony, was reminiscent of the Friends episode where Ross married Rachel--I mean Emily. It was freaking gorgeous--ivy and twinkle lights galore. I was smitten. We brought it to life with candles and when you add everyone you love standing, staring as you take that turn, it is magic.
During cocktail hour, my husband and I were taking photos and the team brought us cocktails and appetizers where we were during that time so we didn't miss the food!
Dinner was absolutely beautiful. I couldn't have dreamed of a better setup. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the food was of course amazing. I highly recommend the veggie lasagna! They were accommodating with a gluten free meal too!
The reception was incredibly fun--we had tray passed champagne for midnight and shots for the shot song. The team was so courteous and helpful throughout the entire night.
Cookie-cutter or not, they have weddings down and ours was the best party EVER! Trust them because they know what they are doing!

Our wedding was 12.16.17. Vizcaya’s staff and venue is the perfect place to host your wedding or event. I couldn’t have asked for a better, more special day. Our guests had the best time from the moment they showed up to the moment they left. The food is amazing. We recommend the ceviche, chicken empanadas and mac n cheese balls for hors d’oeuvres, all of which were delicious might I add. We chose to sub Tri-Tip for the Prime rib and received many compliments on all the food that was served.

We started the wedding process with Lauren as our coordinator and later in the process also adjoined with Rachel. They were both quite helpful and kept me sane through the planning process. Both are very good communicators and have all their ducks in a row.

The day of Rachel was our coordinator and did such an amazing job. From the first time we met she was so welcoming and really made us feel like our wedding was important. With out her help our wedding wouldn’t have turned out as great as it did. She’s very organized, patient and full of great ideas. She brought our wedding vision to life and we could never thank her enough!

If you’re looking for a place to get married do not hesitate on choosing Vizcaya, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Vizcaya for making the Romero wedding wonderful!!

My husband and I got married here on August 20th. I just have to say that this place is amazing! The staff was so attentive to our guests and we received so many compliments from our guests about the venue and the food. Special thanks to Lauren Bergenholtz, our day of wedding coordinator. She was AMAZING!!!!! Because of her, everything went so smoothly. We planned our wedding from Los Angeles so everything was coordinated via email and Lauren was very responsive. We did not have any hiccups during the wedding. If you are looking for a wedding venue in Sacramento, this is the place to have it! Thank you Vizcaya!

Let me start by saying that our experience with Vizcaya was amazing. From when we first met with the sales manager in February 2016 to when we got married the in April 2017, the process went smoothly. I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to get married at Vizcaya because it was just such a beautiful place. But I’ve found out it was a great place to get married for so many other reasons.
It is affordable considering the average price of a wedding in Sacramento these days. I think last time I checked it was 36,000 dollars (yikes!). That being said it isn’t cheap but weddings aren’t cheap. Even though it was affordable (which some people take to mean cheap), we got first class treatment.
Our wedding planner Lauren was fantastic. She clicked with my fiancé (now husband) and I right away. We knew at the first meeting she was a good fit. The awesome thing about Vizcaya is that they include a wedding planner with your package. Something that I knew I wanted from the get go because I’ve never planned a wedding or big event like this in my life! We met with Lauren very regularly to go over timelines. She was very prompt in answering my emails. She was very supportive and accommodating of some our weirder requests (we had a unity sandwich ceremony). She even had pieces of wedding cake awaiting us in our suite after the reception. It helped so much after barely eating anything the whole day.
The day of the wedding went so smooth, that if something did go wrong I knew nothing about it. It turned out to be a beautiful and fun wedding. A lot of our guests were saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to! We owe it all to Lauren and Vizcaya. I can say enough about what a great venue this is.

I had a fantastic experience with Vizcaya. They made our Wedding run so smoothly. I love that they take care of everything on the wedding day. I had the most relaxing & fun day and evening. I recommend a weekday wedding. We did a Thursday night & it was perfect. Not only was there a discount on the minimum, but we had the whole venie to ourselves all day. The good was fantastic, as they were able to accommodate my Vegan requests. Thank you Briana, Rheanna, and Lauren!

We just had our Wedding at Vizcaya on 8/4/16.

Out Coordinator at Vizcaya was Brianna and she was the greatest.  She worked with us through out the process of our wedding and our wedding was no less than perfect.

The entire staff at Vizcaya is the best too, very friendly, always there to help and/or answer questions.

We had the perfect wedding there.

    Thank you everyone!

I LOVE VIZCAYA! My now husband and I were having the hardest time agreeing and deciding on which venue to book for our wedding. From the moment we parked and laid our eyes on Vizcaya in person we knew this was where we would get married. After we booked, we were assigned Briana as our coordinator. There is no one more understanding, collaborative, flexible, or amazing as Briana! Seriously, she was sent from the heavens above to make sure we had a wonderful wedding day. From day one she was in constant contact with us and made sure we were always on schedule. During our rehearsal I was on the verge of a mental breakdown and Briana was the one that got me through it and assured that everything would be perfect. She was right! She and her team executed my wedding day vision perfectly. She went above and beyond my expectations in every aspect!

My guests loved Vizcaya also. The venue is beyond beautiful, the food was amazing (we splurged on the Diamond menu and had the Filet Mignon, Salmon with sun dried tomato butter, Deviled Chicken, and Vegetable Lasagna), the bartender poured amazing drinks, and for your hor d'ouerves do yourself a favor and select the risotto cake with bacon - YUM!!!!

Vizcaya made our wedding a dream come true! If I had to do my wedding all over again, I would 1000% choose Vizcaya!

This place is consistently listed Best Venue in Sacramento for good reason! Had a wonderful time there, the process of booking and planning was so easy thanks to the awesome staff at Vizcaya. My wife and I looked at many of the "best venues" in the state and we agree that Vizcaya Pavillion and Mansion is arguably the best in California. We LOVE this place.

The moment I walked into Vizcaya I knew it was everything I ever wanted & more.
Stacey Kitchell was my wedding coordinator, I don't even know where to begin with everything. My experience with Stacey and the venue was more than anything I have dreamed of, our wedding day would not have turned out so beautifully if it wasn't for her and the wonderful staff. Our wedding day was perfect, Stacey pays very close attention to detail and is quiet the perfectionist, as am I, so it was wonderful working with her. I would highly recommend having a wedding at Vizcaya.

This amazing venue and talented staff took care of me every step of the way! Stacey, my wedding planner, really made sure that when the day came i could sit back and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience knowing that she was taking care of everything! i felt there prices were very good in comparison to many other venues in the area and they included so many little extras that add up; like no corkage fee, no charge for dance floor, no charge for bartender and they provide all mixers and garnishes, outdoor heaters and umbrellas for cocktail hour if need be etc. highly recommend the Vizcaya!

Vizcaya was a dream come true the second I walked through their doors.

Cara Bruno was my wedding coordinator and was a joy to work with and was professional and efficient in all aspects of the planning. Cara worked with my 3 month time line and planned the perfect event. She was very well organized and attentive to details.

Vizcaya has beautiful grounds to have a ceremony on. It is stunning and perfect for weddings at all times of the day. We used the side courtyard for my ceremony. It has wonderful market lights and beautiful trees to provide shade for my 7 pm ceremony. The larger gardens area is also stunning and would be perfect for a larger wedding ceremony. The reception was held inside the Pavilion which is equally as beautiful. There are great stained glass light fixtures and tall windows. Now can we talk about the food? I was faced with the troubles of needing to accommodate meat eaters, vegans, and gluten free diets. Vizcaya worked with everyone and created amazing food that my guests were raving about. The appetizers were butler passed and looked amazing! My guests all loved them (my husband and I never actually got to eat any as we were busy taking photos after the ceremony). We were seated and our food arrived. It was so amazing. It was beautifully plated and was delicious. I was so happy with the food. The vegans and gluten free guests were very pleased with their plates and I was very excited to have my family accommodated and happy!

The staff was friendly and very professional. Each member of staff introduced themselves and went out of their way to provide the best service. I never had to worry about anything. The staff worked with my family packing up gifts and getting them to the right car, as well as ensuring the decorations were locked away after the night and safe for the next day. I am so pleased with the staff, food, and the beautiful venue. I cannot wait to go back to Vizcaya to enjoy their bed and breakfast.

Vizcaya was EXCEPTIONAL. Stacey was our wedding coordinator and she was exquisite. Everything was well thought out, taken care of and nothing was missed. Vizcaya also does a $4 cake credit for their preferred vendors and we chose Nothing Bundt Cakes (but that's a whole other AWESOME review).

If you're looking for something affordable and pretty much all inclusive, Vizcaya is the place. It was absolutely perfect and we are STILL talking about it.

My husband and I got married here earlier this month, and everything went fabulously! Stacey was our coordinator and she is as good as it gets!! She was amazing. She was so helpful and responsive to any of our needs. We live in Southern California, so we were planning from out of town, but Stacey was flexible about meeting us and was a huge help.

The venue itself was fabulous. Everything was setup perfectly and the staff was great. We got married in the garden area and also had our cocktail hour in the courtyard, and everything was beautiful. The flowers and plants are very well kept and provide a beautiful backdrop!

The reception was held in the pavilion and everything looked fabulous! They did a great job working with our vendors to set everything up. The food was good too! They have many options and guests seemed pleased. You get to provide your own alcohol for the bar (a huge money saver). The only minor complaint I had was that towards the end of the night the bartender told guests we were out of white wine, but there were still several bottles available...in the whole scheme of things though, this was very minor.

We also had our whole wedding party stay at the bed and breakfast, and it was great! The renovated rooms are wonderful, and it was great having everyone stay at the same place. The groomsmen stayed in the penthouse room, and they really enjoyed all the space up there. They also really liked the grooms lounge!

Overall, Vizcaya was great! We got married on a Saturday night during a peak month with about 110 guests, so we paid a high price, but it was worth it! The night was absolutely perfect, and I definitely recommend it! If you are looking to still enjoy this wonderful venue at a lower price, they offer great discounts for daytime and Friday/Sunday weddings. Again, the best part was our wedding coordinator Stacey-- so make sure to ask for her!

We just had our wedding at Vizcaya on April 25 and it was fantastic. It just happened to be the second day in the entire month of April that it rained all day long with very little break. We had planned our whole ceremony and cocktail hour to be outside and I would say unfortunately we had to move everything inside, but it really wasn't unfortunate at all. Vizcaya itself, both the grounds and the inside pavilion are absolutely beautiful, there is not a bad place to get married here. I worked with Liz Read and she was wonderful on every level from day one of planning. I emailed Liz at least five times every month for a year with question after question and she was always prompt in getting back to me and making me feel at ease with everything. We had several planning meetings, tastings and viewings of the property throughout my year of planning and every time I felt more at ease, comfortable and happy with our decision to choice Vizcaya. The staff was incredible through the whole ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and worked crazy fast to make sure the room was turned around in no time from ceremony to reception with no issues. The food was amazing, every one of my guests commented about how great all of the food was. Every last detail was thought of and completely taken care of by Liz and the whole staff of Vizcaya. Liz priced out several different months, days and packages for us to make sure we stayed within our budget and was always forthcoming with any price changes or additions we may have had. My now husband and I visited 25 places in Sacramento and the surrounding area before we settled on Vizcaya and it’s by far the best, most inclusive and most affordable wedding venue in the area. The day ended up 100% perfect thanks to all of the staff and the attention to detail by everyone at Vizcaya. I wouldn't have changed a thing and it was an amazing day for us and all of our guests!

We held our wedding with Vizcaya on 11/16/13. Aubrey was our wedding coordinator and Rachelle took over for her in the evening during the reception. We had an AMAZING experience. Everything went perfectly and as the bride, I didn't have to worry about ANYTHING. They took care of everything! All we had to do was drop everything off to them, and they took over from there! In addition, we had some unruly people in the wedding party and they were "take care of" immediately! (Meaning, they called them and cab and told them to leave :) I can see why this is rated the #1 place in Sacramento to get married! I couldn't imagine having our wedding any place else. Thank you to everyone at Vizcaya for giving us AMAZING service and helping us have the perfect wedding!

I dont even know where to begin with how wonderful the Vizcaya staff is and how happy I am that we chose them as our wedding event location. My husband and I were so happy with our decision. Liz was our wedding coordinator and she was the best! I felt so comfortable with her and we got along so well. I also got to work with Aubrey at the end of our planning and she was great as well. Liz was so accommodating and allowed us to make our wedding day so special. I told her exactly what I wanted and that is what we got. The staff was amazing, the food was amazing and everything turned out beautiful. I would recommend using the Vizcaya for any event. I cant think of one thing i would have changed or done differently.

I think everyone should get married here. Liz was our go to coordinator and she took care of all the details. I did not need to worry about the placement of anything, I had shown her what I wanted, met with her multiple times and she prepared everything wonderfully. The little things that went wrong, no one had time to notice! Even when the outside vender sent in table runners instead of overlays, Liz made the room work. The food was amazing, what we had sampled was exactly what they served, and when a few quests showed up with uninvited attachments, they moved the tables around without worrying me about the annoyances! Working with her was fun, she responded to all of my emails and eased my concerns, and spent two days helping me pick the perfect colors for the room. I loved every moment of our day. Thank you!

My husband and I were married here a couple of weeks ago. We are beyond thrilled with how everything turned out! Aubrey and the staff at the Vizcaya made every step of the planning process easy! They had great recommendations for vendors and they accommodated every request we had. The day of the wedding we only had one issue with my dress, which could have turned into a crisis but Aubrey and Liz saved the day!!!
Our guests are still talking about how beautiful the venue is, it's been recently remodeled, and how great the food was! We even had late night tacos which was so much fun!
All in all I would definitely recommend The Vizcaya, they're the best!

The Vizcaya was the venue for my daughter's wedding. It was the most beautiful event I had ever attended. Everything was absolutely perfect - I couldn't have asked for a better venue. Aubrey, the sales manager/wedding planner was always professional and very helpful. The dinner was exceptionally delicious and all the help was so wonderful. My wife Amie and I just got married at The Vizcaya a couple months ago. We were referred here by a very close friend of ours, and so we decided to look them up. Our wedding was put together in right around four weeks, and we can't speak higher of our experience with The Vizcaya and specifically our planner Aubrey. She was extremely helpful, and more importantly very warm to us and our families.

In such a short time frame we were able to put together an unforgettable, intimate wedding. My wife and I will never forget our time there, and we are very appreciative of everything they did to help us create a special wedding day.

I would recommend the venue and the team to my closest family and friends without hesitation.

Vizcaya Pavilion is a beautiful venue in downtown Sacramento. We just had our wedding here, and it was so incredibly wonderful! The staff was so great and helpful, they made us feel really special. They were there to help with every detail, which was especially appreciated since I was planning from out of town. The grounds were beautiful, full of blooming flowers, which made our photographs look spectacular. The reception was set up so beautifully, and I didn't have to worry about anything, they handled it all very professionally. I really loved working with Liz and Janae, they treated me, my husband, and all our guests like family. We loved working with them, and we loved having our wedding at the Vizcaya!

The staff at the Vizcaya made everything about our wedding day flawless and wonderful. We worked with Elisabeth during the pre-wedding planning and Becky on the day of coordination. You couldn't ask for nicer more organized people to work with.

The food was AMAZING! We got so many wonderful comments for our guests about picking the best menu, but we can't take the credit! The chef at the Vizcaya is extremely talented. The servers were professional.

Overall, we were extremely happy with all of the services provided by the Vizcaya. Would highly recommend!!

Although my ceremony was not at the Vizcaya, the service provided for me and my guests at my reception can be described only in one way: World Class.

They were very professional to work with to plan my reception, and were flexible, responsive and executed flawlessly. I didn't have to stress about a thing regarding the Vizcaya on the day of my wedding.

The food at the reception was TO DIE FOR, everyone was commenting on how wonderful it was.

The servers were helpful, friendly, prompt and had impeccable manners. I can't say enough good things about them - they really went above and beyond to treat my guests like royalty.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this venue for any prospective bride. You don't want to leave your reception and the details to chance, so let the Vizcaya take care of you!

We had originally planned to have the wedding outside, but because it was supposed to rain, it got moved inside. This was actually a much better outcome!! After the ceremony, we didn't have to worry about moving any chairs or anything to have room to take pictures outside. We just had a the big courtyard with plenty of room to take pictures!

Vizcaya is beautiful!!! Elisabeth is wonderful!! She was very prompt at emailing me back and believe me, I emailed her a lot, with a million questions. We had a huge room to get ready and relax and drink champagne in that day. Service during dinner was excellent. Dinner was delicious and our guests all raved! The bartender was outstanding. We loved how we were able to provide the alcohol and they provided the mixers. Becky was perfect at making sure everything ran smoothly the day of the wedding. A room is included for that night, which was so convenient after such a long day. Also, our parents and relatives stayed inside the mansion part. We couldn't be happier with how things turned out. Definitely go check it out!!

Elizabeth and Kathy helped me mold and create the day of my dreams from beginning to end and it was all done seamlessly. Becky was my wedding angel on the actual day and we couldnt have done it without her. If you have not checked out Vizcaya for your wedding... GO. It is well worth it!!

My wedding was amazing! Although I did most of the planning myself; they were extremely helpful! The wedding planner was mainly an event coordinator for that day, she did not help "plan" anything before hand but she was very efficient! I would 100% recommend Vizcaya to anyone!

    Love so much!

    **super long review warning**
We got married on 3/23/19 and it has taken me a few weeks to reflect and do this review. Overall, I would not change one single thing about our wedding here at Vizcaya. Rachel is beyond helpful, responsive and professional. As the days leading up seemed more and more stressful, she was just one phone call away (being that we live in Washington) and worked beautifully with two very large and vocal families.

I have taken time to process what was the most spectacular day and am happy to provide some recommendations for those considering Vizcaya for their big day which we 1000% recommend.

    PROS- (seriously so many)
    1. day of coordinator: Rachel is the best and all the ladies seem great. It was helpful to have my aunt provide some reinforcement to get everything completed.
    2. All in one: not having to trek across town between sights was perfect and their chiavari chairs (might need to replace a few) are awesome and stunning!
    3. BYOB: this was a huge budget saver; HOWEVER see cons for more info here
    4. Bed-n-breakfast: it was perfect for us as a couple to not have to go anywhere else
    5. dance floor and set up: Rachel helped create the perfect space for our guests. People kept warning that it was too small but we got a solid group of 115 folks in and it was plenty of room and we had the most epic dance party
    6. getting ready spaces: were a huge plus and we weren't rushed with our noon arrival. The only downside was some of the windows folks could see me (I didn't do a first look with my husband so that was a little nerve racking)
    7. the outdoor ceremony spaces are amazing and we lucked out for a March wedding and got to enjoy the space (special kudos for the cost effective heaters)

CONS: (really really minor but just things to consider)
    1. BYOB (part 2): I am not an event expert and being able to provide all of our alcohol was a total plus. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a bust as well. I attribute this mostly to BevMo and don't recommend utilizing them for beer or keg purchasing. Vizcaya is pretty clear they can't help with quantity recommendation which makes perfect since. We left the next morning with over 40 bottles of wine and almost 3 full kegs. Over purchasing and returning is non existent in CA and obviously kegs go bad. My advise here is even though kegs seem like a great deal, it might be best do stick with bottles. the cocktail hour was tough to get drinks poured and passed so something to consider here and highly recommend not having TOO many choices. This responsibility to order and coordinate was tough as a bride planning from out of state and still crushes me a bit that we wasted so much beer... like GOOD beer at that.

oh, if you do a keg, order from the local stores that do free delivery. I made the mistake of not knowingly ordering near my parents home and trying to get 3 huge kegs to the venue by rehearsal was very stressful.
    2. pick up the next day sneaks up on you so plan ahead and maybe delegate this task.

If you took the time to read ALL of this, I hope you leave with intentions of booking Vizcaya. Our wedding was perfect and Rachel is seriously the best so if you're as lucky as we were, you will share the same sentiments. Best of luck!

My husband and I had a wonderful wedding at Vizcaya. We worked with Stacey and she was amazing. She had prompt responses to questions throughout the planning process and offered great ideas throughout our planning when we sought assistance. At the wedding Stacey was checking in frequently to see how things were progressing.
We had our wedding Saturday evening. There was an afternoon wedding the day of our wedding, which ended up being just fine. We did have to set up a few things later in the day, but it was not a huge deal since Vizcaya pretty much sets up everything for you. Since we could not use the bridal suite or grooms lounge until 12:30 due to the daytime wedding all of our immediate family spent time together and got ready together in the Penthouse. I'm glad it worked out that way because we all had fun spending time together. All the guests at the wedding seemed to have a great time as well. Couldn't have asked for a more fun or relaxing wedding!!

The only downside to our experience was the wedding from Friday night. My husband and I stayed at Vizcaya the night prior to our wedding and the wedding party that night was extremely out of hand. As it is a small bed and breakfast there is nobody on the premise a night. We had a pretty scary experience with one of the guests pounding on our door at 3:30am (mind you we had been awake until about 2:30 because of their loud talking, drinking, music in the carriage house below us). We did end up calling the police because the man looked extremely agitated and angry. After only getting about 3 hours of sleep the night before our big day, I thought it was going to be a pretty horrible experience. Luckily I was wrong and we ended up having a wonderful day. I did not mark Vizcaya down for this, as they had no idea the guests would act this way. Although, I would recommend Vizcaya look into getting a night staff on Friday and Saturday nights in order to avoid extremely unpleasant experiences like the one we had.

My husband and I had our wedding and ceremony at the Vizcaya. I actually found the venue on the KCRA 3 A list and decided to have a look for myself. I made an appointment with Stacey Kitchell and my husband and I met with her. From the moment we met with Stacey, she was very friendly and very helpful! She showed us around the property and explained everything very clearly. We decided to book this venue. After booking our date I actually had to change it and Stacey was very accommodating.
Stacey helped us figure out flower placements, table placements, worked with our photographer on the timeline, and she gave us referrals to a number of vendors in the area. She helped us plan our big entrance (which was a dance) and even came in on her day off to help us practice our timing! The venue is beautiful and the entire staff is great. The food is fantastic and our day was perfect!
The only downside is that it is a little pricy; but hey, everything that has to do with weddings is. LOL
I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for beauty and a friendly, helpful staff.

Out of all the venues we checked out for our wedding, Vizcaya definitly offers the best value for a wedding day celebration. They take care of everything for you so you don't have to worry on your wedding day. Elisabeth is an amazing wedding planner and I highly recommend her and the Vizcaya staff. Everyone was nice, friendly and helped to make our day special and memorable. The only detail that was missed was that my cake was not facing the right way and I had to tell someone to turn the cake around. Other than that, everything was perfect!

This is what dreams are made of

We couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to celebrate our wedding than Vizcaya! The location is absolutely breathtaking, and it looked like something out of a fairy tale as the sun set during our ceremony. The atmosphere at dusk was magical, with the lights twinkling and everything perfectly set to capture that dreamy ambiance we were hoping for.
From start to finish, the Vizcaya team was incredible. They went above and beyond to accommodate all of our vendor schedules and even made last-minute time changes work without a hitch. The bridal suite was the ideal space for getting ready, spacious and elegant, creating a relaxing and fun environment for us and our bridal party.
Our rehearsal the day before was seamless, and the staff ensured everything went smoothly and kept us all calm and organized. Even when we had an unexpected change in coordinators, our new coordinator, Andrea, didn’t miss a beat. She jumped right in and brought such positive energy, making sure every detail was handled – and we were lucky enough to have another venue coordinator, Haley, come on board for our rehearsal and for the big day – her help was absolutely invaluable! All in all, Vizcaya and its amazing team made our wedding day unforgettable, and we’re so grateful for the exceptional service and stunning setting they provided!

    Wonderful Wedding Experience

We are so happy that we chose to have our special day at Vizcaya.
Our Coordinator was Ali Boule and we can honestly say our wedding wouldn't have been as wonderful without her. Simply put, the only thing we had to worry about on our wedding day was getting dressed and walking down the aisle. She took care of everything and made sure the event ran smoothly as possible.
Ali also helped with the planning process. While we carried out the strenuous work to plan the wedding, she was there every step to check in on us and make sure we were on track. She also answered any questions we had and was able to suggest many vendors to look at.

Our winter wedding at Vizcaya was near perfect. It felt like a dream walking down the aisle as candles beautifully lit up our ceremony in the outdoor courtyard. The staff made sure it looked like we imagined.
Next, the reception was great. Delicious food (deviled chicken and the gnocchi) and wonderful staff. Vizcaya provided everything we needed. Overall, we would definitely recommend having your wedding or other event at Vizcaya. It was the first venue we visited, and after we looked at several other places, Vizcaya was our first option. Thank you, once again, to the Vizcaya staff and to Ali for making our wedding so memorable.

When we met with Vizcaya it was about a year out from when we wanted to get married and a lot of their Saturdays were already fully booked. I'd highly recommend reaching out to them ASAP even if you're just considering them.

We loved the venue so much that we choose our date around their availability so that worked out for us. We also were "blessed" with rain on our wedding day. We didn't have a plan 100% in place but then Briana at Vizcaya gave us a recommendation for a company and it worked out perfectly. That was a HUGE help. Briana was also great to have helping us on the day of since I was getting ready the whole time I knew that I could trust her to set up the room perfectly. Super happy with how everything turned out!

This venue was fantastic - we had to work with a few different coordinators because of changes in staffing and each person was incredibly helpful. We ended up with Lexi and she was on top of everything and helped the day to go so smoothly. Being able to bring in our own alcohol and late night snacks were key for us, and the staff was so helpful with everything. The food was great according to all of our guests which was something that was really important as well and we were nervous about given that we had to use their catering, but it was great. I highly recommend this venue!

Mostly, the wedding staff was very helpful and professional. Our saleswoman, Kathy, left the company, and in their scramble to get a hold of all of her clients, we didn't find out until several weeks later, and only then because we called after none of our e-mails to her were answered, and the last was returned as undeliverable. This would normally be a nerve-racking situation, but Elizabeth, who took over our day, was absolutely wonderful (better than Kathy) and worked with us as if she had been our contact the entire time. She honored all agreements we had made without batting an eye, and made herself as available as possible. Unfortunately, if we ever called and didn't get a hold of her directly, our calls were never returned. After the second time, we made sure to get her schedule instead and to call back when we knew she was there.

We did not meet Becky, the coordinator, until the day of the rehearsal (the day before the wedding). In every way you could desire, she was completely on her game and ran the show behind the scenes for us as much as she could. When the cake ran late, she coordinated with the photographer to cover up any seams in the flow. However, when it came to dealing with people other than the two of us, we received complaints that she was rude and demanding, especially regarding cleanup of the prep area in the mansion itself before the ceremony took place (ceremony was at 5:30, and we were done with the room at 4:30 and out taking pictures). Apparently, they were planning on using the room to host other potential clients, but frankly, we rented the entire venue AND hotel for the night, and I felt this was a little crass, especially since she didn't warn us beforehand.

The hotel staff was completely behind the scene; we saw maybe one person besides Jesse, the manager, the entire night. We received the same complaints about Jesse that we did about Becky (but from different people), but he was very polite to us.

The food and serving staff in the reception hall were absolutely outstanding. I know some people are nervous about hiring a caterer before they taste their food, but this place has earned every single award it can possibly lay claim to!

All in all, better than I expected. Just those two things with Becky and Jesse, and neither enough to ruin our day (fortunately, my now-husband kept both of those from me until after we left). I highly recommend them, and would only suggest to the Vizcaya that they schedule their clients to meet Becky once before the rehearsal so that any irregularities can be covered.

Great wedding experience; sharing some considerations for other couples

We had our wedding at Vizcaya in May 2024 during the 10am-4pm slot. We absolutely loved our wedding and the venue fit our needs really well. Overall we were really pleased with Vizcaya. Here are some highlights as well as things four other couples to consider about this wedding venue before booking.

    PRO's
--Vizcaya takes care of so many things that we did not need as many vendors as we would have at another venue (catering, servers, bar staff, day-of coordinator). This was a huge plus for us. It was one of the reasons we picked the venue and it made the whole planning process much simpler. It was so great to have the day-of coordinator provided by Vizcaya: she managed so much on the wedding day, so that we and our families could really enjoy the celebration as much as possible.
--The east patio really is beautiful. We picked the venue in part because we wanted to have our ceremony there. That wasn't able to happen due to weather, but we still got some gorgeous photos there when the rain stopped.
--Vizcaya is a rain and weather safe venue! There was a rain storm the morning of our wedding (not typical/expected for May). Vizcaya staff was very flexible and accommodating about making all the changes to move our ceremony/cocktail hours indoors. We made this decision the day before, based on the forecast, after a week of biting our nails worrying over the weather. While we were initially disappointed, the indoor ceremony turned out beautifully and we were so relieved to have booked a venue that could easily accommodate a rain plan for our 110 guests.
--Great location. We live in Midtown Sacramento and most of our guests stayed in Midtown. They loved being able to walk to the venue from hotels/airbnbs.
--Vizcaya is BYOB: this can be a big savings (if you don’t hugely overbuy alcohol like we did)
--Price. We did a daytime wedding and we felt like it was a great deal. The price for a daytime event was substantially cheaper than nighttime. This is something to consider, especially if you have a large party, because savings scale for larger parties (the per person cost is lower for lunch than dinner)
--Vendor selection was made easy by Vizcaya distributing a list of "approved vendors". We picked almost all of our vendors from this list. It made the vendor research/vetting process much easier, quicker, and more comfortable knowing that all had successfully worked at Vizcaya. Some of their vendors know the venue very well.
--General event experience: Vizcaya does so many weddings, we always felt very comfortable and confident in their ability to deliver our event for us.

    THINGS TO KNOW
--Our coordinator was awesome during in-person meetings/contacts, but was difficult to reach by email/phone. We would frequently wait 1-2 weeks for email responses or follow-up she promised us after meetings. This ultimately didn’t have any negative consequences for our wedding, but it was frustrating. Vizcaya could deliver better communication and responsiveness considering the cost. You have to rely on email to reach the coordinator, because they don’t give out their cell phone number and they are away from their desk a lot. As far as I could tell, the coordinators prioritize giving you attention you when you’re booking and in the week of your wedding, but we found communication in between during the planning phase to be quite slow.
--The coordinators seem to be overworked (especially during wedding season). Our coordinator's last day with Vizcaya was one week after our wedding. Her role had her splitting her time between Vizcaya and another wedding venue in Forrest Hill (an hour away, owned by the same company), so several days a week she would not be at Vizcaya and seemingly did not have access to information about our event when she was away. This seemed to contribute to the slow response times to emails/phone calls.
--This didn’t bother my husband, but the building next door to Vizcaya is abandoned with a number of broken windows that are visible from the larger Vizcaya patio. In my opinion, this detracts from the overall elegance of the patio space. I did not want to have our ceremony on the larger patio for that reason.
--Vizcaya staff collect your items (decorations, booze, etc) for you to load into your car at the end of the event or the next day. They returned a number of bottles of wine that were not ours. We suggest labeling your alcohol and other items if you want to make sure it’s returned to you after the event.
--For daytime weddings, you only get access to the getting ready space at 7am. For most brides, this won’t be enough time for hair and makeup so we had to get ready off-site to start at 5am.

Vizcaya was everything we hoped for for a wedding venue! We used almost all the sleeping rooms for out-of-town guests, had our rehearsal dinner there, as well as our wedding - it felt like our own, somewhat intimate compound. Our rehearsal dinner was ok - the food was very slow to come out and was cold when it did. Our server dropped our dessert (a tray of biscotti) so we didn't have dessert for our guests, but these things happen - he just needed more help! The wedding went very smoothly. The only downside was that we felt a little rushed through it since there was another wedding in the evening. We blinked and guests were leaving and the service staff were cleaning up. But the venue and staff are wonderful!!! I would highly recommend Vizcaya!!

We got married at the Vizcaya just over two weeks ago. Overall, we had a good experience and we would recommend the venue to other couples looking for a wedding ceremony and reception location. The salesperson who originally helped us left ~6 weeks before our wedding and a new gal became our contact person. That made me nervous, but she honored every request and was very responsive, so we had no issues there. The venue is beautiful in pictures (slightly less so in person) and has nice character. The facility fee isn’t cheap, but you get a beautiful bridal dressing area for use before the wedding, and if you’re lucky you’ll save money on flowers because the garden in bloom is a great location for a ceremony. The food is good and there are a lot of options (chef even accommodated lactose-free, low-sodium, gluten-free with ease). They don’t provide alcohol, but they also don’t charge a cork fee so it’s a bit more effort but you can end up saving money over a typical place that provides alcohol. They provide high chairs, which is very helpful for moms with infants. They provide a wedding coordinator, and Becky is great at what she does. She is very focused and can even cover other vendors’ mistakes. She did a nice job keeping us posted about the level of alcohol that remained so we could make decisions about sending someone out to buy more if needed. The servers were nice and friendly.

Some things aren’t as nice. The chairs are old (and covering them adds up pretty quickly) and in need of repair or replacement. Parking can be an issue, even on weekends. That became a problem for us because it rained the day of our wedding, but I won’t ding Vizcaya for that because it’s not their fault it rained – it just made me realize that we should have considered the parking situation more carefully. It’s also somewhat of a challenge that you work with one person leading up to the wedding, and you don’t actually meet Becky until the rehearsal.

We had a few specific challenges:
    * I think we were the first wedding to be rained out since the new person joined the team, so she wasn’t experienced in helping us navigate that process and I wasn’t sure exactly what I should be asking (because I’m not experienced in this sort of thing either, obviously). In the days leading up to our wedding, I asked questions to understand the details of the contingency plan (which I knew about but hadn’t paid much attention to given that our wedding was in June). In the end, I finally peppered her with enough questions that she passed me along to someone else, at which point I learned that we needed to make considerable changes to our defined schedule (which Vizcaya had already confirmed in writing) ~24 hours before I needed to leave for the wedding location. That was extremely stressful and undesirable, but my hope is that future brides would have more proactive service in this regard.
    * We added one chair to one table 2 days before the wedding. I attached a new seating chart and received written confirmation that it was received and would be added. Halfway through the meal, I realized that something was wrong: two guests who only knew each other and the groom were sitting at different tables. At that moment, I realized that the extra chair had NOT been added, so one of the guests was forced to find an open chair at another table. To her credit, Becky agreed to make the change but we declined since the meal was half over. It was unfortunate and made the groom and me look either clueless or inconsiderate, sitting people at tables where they knew no one. This was awkward and should have been done correctly. If it could not be done correctly based on the fact that the request was made 2 days before the wedding, then I would have preferred to have simply been told that so I could have made other arrangements.
    * The groom and I never got to eat our cake :( The cake ends up costing a lot of money, because the cake cutting fee is baked in to the cost and then you’re charged tax and a service charge on the whole thing. After paying all that money for a cake, we certainly wanted to enjoy it. We selected very specific flavors, so we were really looking forward to tasting it. We tasted the frosting during the cake cutting, and then we told them which layers we wanted to have served for the two of us. I don’t know exactly what happened, but at some point the servers must have cleaned up our sweetheart table. It seems like common sense that they would have boxed our pieces of cake, but that evidently didn’t happen so we never tasted our cake. That’s a real bummer that is still disappointing to us more than two weeks later.
    * One of our wedding guests, a woman my husband has called “mom” for over 15 years, was terminally ill. By sheer will and defying doctors expectations, she lived long enough to attend our wedding (in a wheelchair, because she was so weak) and then passed away days later. As the reception started, she needed to leave so her son came to let us know they were leaving. We had already paid for their meals and we wanted her to feel like she was still part of the celebration even if it was back at her hotel. We asked to have 2 meals boxed up so they could take them, and the wedding coordinator told my husband that it wasn’t possible due to some policy they have to prevent litigation. I understand rules and regulations, but given the extenuating circumstances, I would have expected Vizcaya to be more accommodating (my husband told them she literally got off her deathbed to join us that day, and that didn’t seem to make any difference).
    * The signage was confusing. I think it was just because of the rain, but numerous guests were confused. The sign posted out front made it look like our wedding started an hour later than the invitation suggested (the sign directing guests to the pavilion for the reception should have been changed when the Vizcaya made the call to move the ceremony indoors to the same place).

This doesn’t go into the rating, but a caution to other brides so they don’t do what I did: Don’t justify the venue’s facility fee by thinking you’ll save money on flowers. We paid the facility fee and justified that we wouldn’t need to buy any flowers for the ceremony since the garden would be in bloom. It rained throughout our ceremony and reception, so we were indoors and we didn’t have any flowers.

Vizcaya is a beautiful place to have your wedding at. It has an outdoor garden that's great for ceremony and just naturally pretty as is. Their pavillion can sit up to 240 guests. We had 17 tables and the space was easy to work with and decorate, also very welcoming. Their chef is fantastic, we requested for a custom dish, and he made it even better than what we had in mind! We had a lot of compliments on the food from our guests. Elizabeth, the manager, is great to work with, she was there for us everytime we had a question. If not readily available, she always get back to us via phone or email. The only point I had to take out is that we had a mix up with the room key that night, which Elizabeth felt awful about the next day and offered us something else to make up for it. Despite the room incident, we still highly recommend Vizcaya for wedding in the Sacramento area. It's definitely a wonderful experience to be married at such beautiful setting. In the end, we wouldn't change a thing at all.

I have mixed feelings about Vizcaya. The venue itself is beautiful, completely breathtaking. However, early in the planning process and the day of the wedding I feel the ball was dropped. When I booked with Vizcaya my coordinator was Cara. She informed me that I was going to be receiving 5 free rooms due to when I was booking. I thought ok great. I made arrangements with her on booking a few of our free rooms, thought everything was fine. However months later, Cara emailed me letting me know that Caitlin would be taking over my wedding. Again, ok great. I met with Caitlin and things seemed to be fine except that some of our free rooms were not showing on my information. After she looked into it further, our rooms we not booked and another bride had the rooms booked because she also received the same promotion that I did. Who's fault that was that I no longer had my rooms, I'm not sure. All we were told was there was nothing that could be done since they rooms were now booked. Not wanting to let it ruin my wedding planning experience, we moved on.

Now get to day of the wedding, one of the main parts is the toast. Me and my groom did not receive champagne like we were supposed to. Our toasting glasses were on our table, however, we didn't get any. Neither did some of my guests. We had many children at the our wedding, and we had sparkling cider for them to toast with. I wanted them to feel included, except no kids received sparkling cider. My grandma had all beverages behind the bar clearly and easily labeled for the bar tenders and butlers to pass around but that is not how things went.

I don't feel that Cailtin did as good of a job as she should have. I would suggest to anyone that books with Vizcaya, to book an evening wedding. My wedding weekend they had 5 weddings. I feel that is too many for one venue for the same weekend and I think things can easily get miscommunicated and looked over due to being so busy.

We had our wedding at the Vizcaya and it turned out wonderfully. We were looking for a reasonable location where we could have the wedding ceremony and reception, so that guests would not have to relocate for the reception. We had a lot of older guests, so this was perfect. The scenery is victorian and has a lot of picturesque places to take photos: the fountain, the entrance, the garden. The food was so much better than I imagined. I still get compliments on the food to this day. The only reason I give less stars for professionalism was the experience my husband had with one of the customer service representatives (who no longer works there). My husband tried to have all the things we discussed verbally specifically stated in the contract and the customer service representative was hostile to it. We were able to get what we needed, but the experience was unnecessary. Otherwise, venue was beautiful and we were able to stay the night in their guest room on the property.

I attended a wedding recently. The venue is gorgeous no doubt about it. I was disappointed in the food. There were no steak knifes and the meat was very tough and hard to cut with a butter knife. they need to do a better job with the filets. The staff cleared our tables with our drinks, decorations, and party favors way too early.
We ordered new drinks and when we returned from dancing they were gone along with my eyeglasses. The entrance to the reception room was a through a narrow, path with stepping stones which is a tripping hazard as I experienced. I would recommend that a different entrance be used.

Coordinator needed to be present more

My only issue was my wedding coordinator wasn’t terribly helpful through the process. She was decent for the wedding day but cut out and kinda left us hanging to figure out where our stuff was and gathering it all. Some things are still missing and even though they tell you it’s your responsibility it would have been nice to be more of a point person with coordinating items and making sure they were accessible or not left sitting there. Bridal suite and groomsmen suite was left unlocked the whole time so anyone could’ve taken items. Felt kinda rushed through eating my own dinner and having to ask for food from cocktail hour I never had was silly to me, champagne toasts weren’t there either. Few glitches here and there but still ok venue

The food at Vizcaya was amazing! Our guests cannot stop raving about it. The grounds are gorgeous and the bridal suite and groom's lounge are convenient. However, we had only two minor requests for our reception and neither of those requests were executed properly. We had a smaller reception and wanted the dance floor moved more towards the middle, closer to all of our guests. The dance floor was left on the far side of the cocktail room, farthest away from our guests. We were also told that if we wanted a drink passed around during cocktail hour to let them know. We created our signature drink and bought all of the alcohol and gave them the recipe, only to learn that our signature drink, in fact no drinks, were butler-passed during cocktail hour. Some guests did not even know there was a bar. Verry disappointing after spending all that time and money buying the alcohol for an event! We worked with Aubrey up until two weeks before the wedding, when she told us she couldn't make it and Stacey would take over. Obviously the handoff was not executed very well between the two Not to mention it was ridiculous that our wedding planner told us two weeks before our wedding that she just wouldn't be there at all. After the event, Vizcaya tried to charge us for a linen that had wax damage even though the wax was probably spilled by their employees during the breakdown of the room. After all of the money we spent at that venue, they wanted to charge us for a linen that they damaged? Again, the venue is beautiful but I feel like our guests didn't truly appreciate it because they made everyone stay in one room during the cocktail hour when we were told they would be allowed to wander in the courtyard and patio. I felt over-charged for the service we received.

The venue is beautiful, but beware if you get the cheaper morning wedding you will be kicked out of the bridal suite even as your wedding is about to start! We had rude staff who went into the bridal suite to "clean up" even before our wedding ceremony was started, even with purses and other valuables still in the room! My hair dresser and other key friends didn't get to see the ceremony because they were grabbing stuff out of the room as fast as they could! No one had even told us that we needed to vacate the room before the ceremony. It was awful! Fortunately, our friends didn't tell us about this rude and unacceptable behavior by Vizcaya staff till AFTER the reception and back at home. Shame on Vizcaya for charging what they do, only to kick you out like they were doing you a favor!

I'm really disappointed to have to post this excerpt from a letter that my mother in law sent to Vizcaya regarding my wedding in March 2013.
    Dear Stacey:
We ordered the most expensive meal package, the Diamond menu at the base price of $68 per head. With gratuity and taxes this price came to a little over $88 per head. This was indeed a generous allowance for food only as this cost did not include setting the tables or security etc. No table wines were included either.

We have summarized the key issues discussed at the meeting.

    FOOD RELATED ISSUES
    1) Out of the 420 samosas delivered to you the day before the event only a few of the 186 guests claimed to have received one.
    2) All guests who opted for the fresh sea bass were disappointed with overcooked tilapia being served for dinner. Sea bass has a very distinct taste, texture and appearance, which can in no way be substituted by tilapia.
    3) The tenderloin was served from the tail side instead of a center cut which is more suitable and customary for serving a large crowd. A guest was served a cone shaped piece of meat for which Chef Brian did apologize.

    SERVICE RELATED ISSUES
    1) Ninety per cent of the pre instructions given by the bride were not followed.
    2) Many of the guests agreed the waiters/waitresses appeared to have no training whatsoever.
    3) The incorrect wines were put on the tables, Sauvignon Blanc instead of Chardonnay and Merlot instead of Essential Red as ordered by the bride.
    4) Some guests were served their entrees without vegetables or potatoes.
    5) The HVAC was not monitored and failed to keep the guests at normal comfort. One guest even fainted resulting in the need for an ambulance.
After discussion with our family lawyers, we have been advised the following compensation would not be necessarily appropriate or just, but the least we should receive from Vizcaya a full refund of the dinner cost of $16,009.30 payable in 15 days of this email. We will wait 7 days for your response

Our onsite coordinator dropped out the day before our wedding

We had our wedding at Vizcaya in May of this year and were very excited leading up to the event. Unfortunately, our onsite coordinator dropped out the day before the wedding without any notice to us, and we found this out during our rehearsal 24 hrs before the wedding. As you can imagine, this caused a lot of stress leading up to the event and had a ripple effect that impacted the wedding day in many different ways. The team that took over did their best to play catch up and help us execute our event, but unfortunately there were a few things that really missed the mark. This was a 200 person cultural wedding with a lot of moving parts so to lose your coordinator the day before was a massive blow.

One of our new coordinators was extremely stressed out during our day and was causing undue stress and panic for our wedding parties and us (bride & groom). She was telling bridesmaids to walk at the wrong time, she was late to grab the groom for the start of the wedding, and overall had a negative impact on our day.

The next big area of frustration was the fact that the uplighting for the reception, was not setup so our entire reception hall had obnoxious overhead LED lighting that was incredibly bright and not at all the mood/ambiance we were hoping for. They were able to add them in eventually after we asked about them, but by the time they were added in dinner was finished and we were just starting the dancing. Our grand entrance does not look the way it should've (both in person and in our pictures) because the lighting was off.

The venue itself was beautiful and there were a lot of things that went well, but these three things all definitely had a really negative impact on our day.

After the wedding we were hoping to speak about what went poorly during our wedding and get some kind of refund since there were so many issues and many things where we did not get what was promised. They had one of our coordinators jump on with us to tell us they were sorry and hear us out, and then they read us a list of issues that management experienced from our side of things. This part was pretty insulting considering we had just gone through an incredibly stressful event with them and they objectively messed up in key areas, most importantly our coordinator who we had been working with for months disappeared the day before the wedding. Instead of trying to make it right they told us about the things that we did wrong. This list was ridiculous and included things like "a vendor was rude to us", "something was spilled on the floor in the reception hall", "there were extra tables we needed to setup" and "someone was smoking on the property". While I can appreciate these are inconvenient and challenges you might experience during a wedding as the venue, it was really insulting that this was brought up in contrast to the areas they fell short. It was almost as if because these things happened it balances out the fact that they messed up so badly. At the end of the call we asked to speak to management about a refund because we understood that it wasn’t up to the coordinator to decide. She said she would reach out and get back to us. It’s been almost 2 months since we met with her and we’ve followed up multiple times and gotten no response.

At this point, we're not sure if we'll ever get a response so we feel like we needed to leave a review to warn other potential couples. Vizcaya has had a lot of turnover with coordinators over the last two years (we had a total of 3 before our last one cancelled the day before and we were assigned 2 new ones). They will not honor any refunds no matter how badly they mess up and impact your special day. It seems like their management cares more about profit than their customers and that could be why the staff has such high turnover. I wouldn't want to work for that type of management either. All in all we would not recommend anyone use Vizcaya for their wedding venue because of these reasons.

    Hearbroken and Gaslit

The night of my wedding I never imagined writing this review like this but after two weeks of lying and deceit later here we are.

    LONG STORY SHORT
Before my wedding I had a great experience with Vizcaya and all the staff. The week leading up to my wedding and everything since has been extremely heartbreaking. The entire venue was dirty and covered in layers of dust. The entire staff was rude and dismissive. I cannot express enough the lack of attention to detail.
To top it all off the venue destroyed my bridal bouquet and spent a week lying to me about it. By the time they finally owned up to the truth and agreed to pay for a replacement I was exhausted from having to reach out multiple times to just get half an answer.
At the end of the whole ordeal the venue would only pay for my replacement if my family and I agreed to sign an NDA.
Clearly we did not sign it.
Keep reading if you want the whole story.

    LONG STORY LONG

I really enjoyed the planning process at Vizcaya. The venue is stunning and I really was able to do all the things I envisioned for our day.

I should have known something was off when my multiple emails I sent trying to confirm details the week before my wedding went unanswered. The only time I heard back from my coordinator, Kimberly, the week leading up to my wedding was her reminding us we had one last payment still.
I also should have sensed something when after nine months, many many emails and multiple in person meetings, Kimberly continued to get my name wrong, including at my rehearsal.

The day of my wedding lots of smaller things went wrong that I was never planning on bringing up until now.

    DIRTY AND UNCOMFORTABLE
When arriving in the bridal suite, I watched in shock as my mother and MOH had to use wet wipes to clean urine off the toilet seat and hair off the mirror. When we let the staff know they could not have looked less interested.
Before passing out gifts to my bridal party I had to dust off the table so as to not get inches of dust on their gifts. After talking to my husband I learned this was also the case downstairs in the Grooms Area.

The Bridal Suite was EXTREMELY hot, to the point that our makeup was starting to sweat off. It was impossible to find anyone, including my day of coordinator, to help us. My photographer ended up sending his second shooter to literally hunt down someone to turn on the AC in the room for us.

While getting dressed in my wedding gown my mother and my photographer had to pause to pick dust bunnies up off my dress that had only been hanging in the room for a few hours. I cannot stress enough how dirty this room was.

    RUDE
During cocktail hour I was extremely upset with the attitude Kimberly gave to my photographer. She interrupted him and made him have to physically stop taking photos and lose time with something that was completely unnecessary.
The employees also continuously harassed my husband as he was getting ready for our wedding to come all the way upstairs into their lobby just to grab a key for our room that night. I am honestly still confused as to why they couldn't just bring the key to him, instead of forcing him to pause getting ready for our wedding.
I found out later when my guests asked the staff for small things such as a drink, the staff refused to even look at my guests let alone give them the time of day.

    LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL
When my husband and I entered the reception hall I instantly noticed that FOUR tables had been set up incorrectly. This resulted in multiple families not sitting together. I will also add that during the planning process I was praised multiple times for how well communicated and organized my seating chart was so you can imagine my surprise when I saw it was not set up correctly.
My sweetheart table was also left out as something the staff seemed to care about. After sitting at dinner for more than 15 minutes it was my MOH who finally got up and asked my husband and I if we wanted any champagne. All the other tables at the reception had drinks except ours.
I was also completely shocked to see the drinks that had been labeled “For Bride and Groom Only” sitting out on the bar to be consumed by literally anyone. We had been told multiple times at the planning meeting that if we had specific drinks for just the Bride and Groom we could keep them in a secret stash behind the bar. This was in no way the case.

DESTROYING MY PERSONAL PROPERTY AND LYING TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT IT
This is the reason I am posting.
Vizcaya tells you that at the end of your event to leave everything in the venue and you will pick it up the next day. It was part of my signed contract.
When packing up our cars the next day I noticed my bridal bouquet was missing from the pile of flowers. My brother in law went to ask an employee what happened to it. I was planning on preserving the most important flowers of my life. In addition a traditional family trinket was safety pinned into a stem of my bouquet and of course I wanted that back.
My brother in law was told that my florist had come back to the venue and taken my bouquet. I found this odd as all the other flowers were still at the venue. Just in case I reached out to my florist and she told me this was in not the case.

A few days later I had no update so I reached out to Vizcaya again. This time they told me that my immediate family had stolen my flowers. I could not believe that for a second but again reached out to not only my family, but every single person who was at my wedding. No one had it.
I reached back out to the venue and this time they told me they had found only my trinket. Not the flowers it was attached to but at least it was something. When I went to the venue to pick it up, I saw it had been cut off of the bouquet as the ribbon it was on was also missing. Confused, I asked if anyone had the whole story as none of this made sense to me. At this point they told me they would finally look at security cameras.
After more days of no updates I reached back out and got told they were “working on it”. At this point I was super frustrated and asked to speak to a supervisor. The request to speak to a higher up was denied but they instantly had an answer for me.
The venue had thrown out my bridal bouquet, only my bridal bouquet. It still didn't make sense to me but I accepted the “answer” and asked them to pay for a replacement.
They agreed to pay for the replacement and said they would issue the check while I was on my honeymoon. Imagine my surprise when I came home and saw that issuing my check was contingent on me signing an NDA.

Instantly it made sense to me why TheKnot and Wedding Wire have little to no bad reviews of this venue but Yelp and Google Review are swimming in bad reviews of this place.

This venue and their staff make you feel like the most important person in the world during the planning process. However, as soon as they cash your final payment they could not care less about you or your event.
Long story short, if you have your event here don’t trust them to be accountable or hold up to any of their promises. I also recommend bringing a vacuum and wet wipes.
