Denise from Two Tone Umbrella was so professional and helpful. I had a lot of "silly" worries about hair and makeup. Once I did a trial with Denise I had complete trust in her! I would recommend her to any bride. I know she books up fast. I had to book my wedding 6 months in advance. ( just FYI) :) -

Two Tone Umbrella came out to do my hair and makeup on my wedding day and they were amazing!!! On time, professional and they made me feel perfect for the big day! Having worked in the fashion industry for many years, I am very picky when it comes to choosing the right hair stylist and makeup artist. I wanted to find someone who could create a natural, effortless look without overdoing the hair or makeup. I was so lucky to have found Denise who works her magic in both areas. It is very rare these days to find someone who can master both hair and makeup equally well and who has such a large repertoire of skills. Denise is able to create a wide variety of looks for the appropriate occasion, whether it be a wedding day or engagement shoot, a high fashion editorial shoot, a more relaxed lifestyle shoot, or a special occasion.
Denise has a work ethic like no other. She delivers quality work with her meticulous attention to detail, her patience addressing all your needs and concerns as a client, and her prompt response and willingness to do the research and preparation to deliver the best results. If you ever have the chance to work with Denise on your engagement shoot, you will love her easy going and light-hearted personality, which is icing on the cake! She brings fun and passion to the photoshoot and will amaze you with her on site creativity.
Denise did a beautiful job at my wedding. I have also worked with her on several photoshoots over the years. She was able to address my severe allergic reaction to products containing wheat (gluten), soy, and dairy. The notes that she took during our conversations to ensure that things were done properly amazed me. On a recent shoot, I was shocked when she pulled out the notes that she had taken in preparation for our very first photoshoot several years back. It had a full description of my preferences, my allergies, and my requests. I can honestly say that this type of service goes above and beyond the norm. Denise has become a friend and my go-to hair stylist whenever I am in town. She is simply wonderful, and her work is guaranteed to impress you. -

Denise and her team are AMAZING! They do such an awesome job on hair and makeup. And to top it off, they are so fun to hang out with! I had an absolute disaster happen to me for my destination wedding - I had hired a makeup artist a year in advance, and she cancelled on me 4 months before my wedding. In hindsight, this was pure luck! Denise and her team had done my sister's wedding in Laguna the year before, so I knew she did an incredible job, and luckily, she was still available for my wedding date!! I flew her and Hannah out for my Tahoe wedding, and I could not have been happier. They were super accommodating of my timelines, and flight/car/hotel arrangements. They did hair and makeup for my entire wedding party, and both moms. Everyone looked spectacular, and my photos were gorgeous. She understood what I was looking for and nailed it. Thank you Denise!
I should also mention that they did a superb job on everyone for my sister's wedding as well. Everyone looked just so beautiful! AND the makeup lasted perfectly ALL NIGHT!!! For everyone at both our weddings. My other sister slept in her makeup, and woke up looking gorgeous, ha. Anyway, if you're looking for makeup/hair stylists for any of your events, you won't be disappointed by hiring Two Tone Umbrella. -

Denise and her team were great, they came to the hotel and did Hair and Makeup on My mom, sister (Maid of Honor), My stepdaughter (Bridesmaid) as well as myself. Did I mention that the room wasn’t huge and I also had my mother in-law, sister in-law, her son, my two ring bearer (nephew's) my Flower girl (niece) and my brother in-law in the room with us. Denise didn’t complain about the small space and made everyone very happy. Denise also helped me with a Tattoo I wanted covered. She did a great job with using airbrush and other makeup to ensure that the makeup didn't come off on my dress everyone kept asking if I had it removed. -

Two Tone Umbrella went above and beyond my expectations. Denise had been doing my hair for over 10 years, but hasn't done my makeup before my wedding. Denise is not only exceptional at what she does, she is also an incredible person. Denise listens to what you want, and gives honest feedback. She put me at ease during the entire process. She helped to calm me down when I was stressed about wedding planning, she made me feel really special every time she did my hair, and she gives the best advise weather it relates to hair/makeup/wedding or just life. She also helped me figure out my wedding day timeline. My venue had a weird set up for getting ready, and she helped me decide what would work best for the wedding day. She also really emphasizes looking naturally beautiful and not fake. Her ultimate goal is for you to look and feel incredible, no matter what. She is an expert in her field and individualizes her work to each client - there is no one look fits all with her, she makes YOU look YOUR best! Denise knows what makeup and hair looks good based on your face shape, completion, hair type, etc. When I did my makeup/hair trial I came to her with some general ideas, but didn't know exactly what I wanted. She helped me figure out the perfect look and the results were beyond anything I could have imagined. She also helped me find the perfect hair extension piece, and it matched my hair exactly (my friends were shocked that I had extensions in because it looked so flawless). On the day of the wedding, Denise and her assistant did an INCREDIBLE job. My hair and makeup were literally perfect, I've never looked so good in my life. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day thanks to Two Tone Umbrella. They also made my bridesmaids, mom, and aunt look like models -my pictures were perfect! I can't recommend Two Tone Umbrella enough. If you are unsure of who to pick to do your hair and makeup on your wedding day GO WITH TWO TONE UMBRELLA. -

Denise and her assistant did an amazing job with hair and makeup styling for my wedding. She did everything I asked and always followed my lead making sure I was comfortable. I loved the perfectionism she has with every detail.
She really made me feel like a princess on my special day. All of my bridesmaids were blown away but their styling as well.
I would highly recommend her!! -

Denise was absolutely wonderful from the moment I contacted her about my wedding all the way through the wedding. As I was an out of town bride, I had to plan everything for my wedding months in advance which of course led to my mind changing from our first trial to the time of the wedding. My wedding was in May and I had my hair and makeup trial in November. My make-up was perfect and didn't need any changing but I had an up-do during the trial and as my wedding came closer, I realized I wanted my hair to the side and down. Denise fit me in her schedule the week of my wedding and was able to create the perfect hair style which as you brides all can understand, wasn't something I was sure was possible.
The day of the wedding, Denise showed up on time with two wonderful assistants. I had six bridesmaids, plus my mom, mother in-law and aunt, which all needed hair and make-up done. The team was able to get all of us done on time and even provided some extra time for us to enjoy a quick glass of champagne before dashing off for our photos.
My hair and make-up stayed flawless throughout all the photos, the ceremony, and far into the reception. The only reason my hair started to fall out was from all the hugs and people (mainly the men) not being careful about the hair!
I highly, highly, recommend Denise. She is truly fabulous!!! -

Denise deserves more than just 5 stars! She's a master of her craft. It goes without saying how pleased I was from our first appointment. She instantly understood from photos of my dress and selected Pinterest board hairstyles and make-up that I was leaning towards. I felt so comfortable with her and her experience that I scheduled my first look prior to my engagement photo session. The engagement photos turned out to be some of the best I've had all due to Denise's expertise. Friends and family inquired about my hair and make-up artist - they loved how I looked. Months later, it goes without saying, I had Denise do my wedding make-up and hair as well. (She also was able to work in having two of my relatives' hair and make-up done simultaneously with me on my wedding day). I highly, HIGHLY, recommend Denise for your hair and make-up needs. -

The day a woman becomes a "Bride", is suppose to be the most amazing day of her life and the one day she will look more beautiful than she ever has before. Of course Brides look beautiful on this day because they are glowing with love and excitement, but let's be honest, one of the real reasons they look so amazing is because they had their hair and make-up professionally done!A Bride needs to choose the "Best".I know for a fact that I did:-). I booked Denise about 10 months out from my wedding and right from the start she was attentive and interested in what my vision for my wedding day look was. She asked me to compile a folder of hair and make-up looks ( cut out from magazine, Pinterest post, friends photos, make up adds, ect..) so that when met for my hair&make-up trial, we would have a clear vision. The trial was a complete success and on the day of my wedding, she not only beautified myself, but my 6 Bridesmaids, Mother, and Grandmother. Every woman looked so beautiful and had a blast during the process. I have never received so many compliments and upon recently receiving my wedding photos, I must say I have never seen myself look so beautiful. Denise is truly the BEST! 100% professional and 100% talented. One reason I chose Denise is that she has a history of working in film and television as a make-up artist (before venturing out on her own). As we know, actors always seem to look so flawless and perfect on the screen. The quality of product she used were just amazing. On my wedding day,I danced, laughed, cried, and partied the night away...and my hair and make-up still looked flawless until the wee hours of the night ( or should I say morning because our after party went on till about 3am :-) ).I would recommend her and her company to any bride that is looking for a professional hair and make-up artist for their big day! -

Denise did a great job the day of getting myself (hair & makeup), my mom (hair & makeup), and 3 of my bridesmaids (hair only) ready in the amount of time that we had. Denise Empey, Principal of Two Tone Umbrella, is the absolute best when it comes to hair and make-up. I’ve been working with Denise to do my hair/makeup for TV, Commercials, Print, and Film Premieres for over fifteen years and finally was able to hire her to do the hair/make-up for my daughter’s wedding. She and her assistant arrived at our venue exactly on time and with grace and ease performed magic for myself, the bride, five bridesmaids, and a grandmother. Everyone looked amazing for the Big Day, and Denise made it so easy. I am so dedicated to her expertise that since she moved to Newport Beach from the San Francisco Bay Area ten years ago, I am still a loyal client, flying to her salon whenever I need a hair fix. My daughter was married in April 2013. The bride, MOB (me), seven bridesmaids and two flower girls were transformed from chicks in sweats to gorgeous wedding ready gals. She has an intuition to envision what hairstyle and makeup will look best and compliment each person. She and her assistants were a calming force amongst a whirlwind of activity the day of the wedding. There are not enough words to express how much we appreciate Denise's professionalism and calming attitude...she is a true artist. I would highly recommend Denise for any special occasion or just monthly hair updates. -

Denise and her crew were AMAZING!!! My expectations were exceeded. There were 9 of us getting ready the day of the wedding and Denise made it so stress free. She created a timeline as to when each girl was getting there services done - she was on time and gave herself enough time for each girl. Thanks to Denise, we all looked absolutely beautiful and the hair and make-up stayed together throughout the whole day into the last dance of the night. I highly recommend Denise, she is organized, professional, incredibly talented and amazing to work with. -

Denise Empey is an amazing woman! Not only with her talent but she is a total sweetheart!
I first worked alongside Denise a few years ago at a wedding I was photographing, she was so professional and friendly and the bride and bridesmaids were flawless! No photoshop needed :) Their makeup was gorgeous and their hair was exactly what they asked for. She can also twist a little fashion flare in there or a little more traditional, whatever you need, she knows how to customize it to compliment your look.
I continue to be even more impressed with her work each time I work with her. She is professional and on time and that is so important on a time-crushing wedding day. When it was finally my turn to tie the knot, i knew who to call. Though it was a destination wedding, i HAD to have Denise!!! She was right there ready for touch ups on the hot humid day and even held my dress at times! She goes above and beyond to make sure you're look is exactly what you've dreamed of. I recommend her to everyone I meet for hair and makeup! Cut, color and brows too ;) She's AMAZING, LOVE HER!!! :)

Denise is amazing and created the perfect hairstyle for my wedding, it was gorgeous. I was very undecided on how to wear my hair and Denise was extremely patient and helpful in creating a style that captured my style, personality and fit my dress and wedding perfectly. In addition, she made my mum, sister and best friend all look stunning.
It is imperative that you work with someone that you feel comfortable with for your wedding and that you trust can make those in your wedding party feel comfortable, and look incredible, also. Denise is Amazing! I never had my makeup or hair done for a event/photos and was a little nervous about it. Denise did my makeup for our engagement pictures and I knew I was in good hands. I went back for another photo shoot I had and Denise did my hair and makeup. Denise was the first person I saw on our wedding day and I couldn't have been happier to see her. I remember saying...."I am so glad you are here, you relax me". I see Denise not only for her extraordinary talent but as a good friend who stood by me during the most important time of my life. -

Denise and her team made my special day so easy and stress free when it came to our bridal hair and make up. My biggest request was that I looked natural for my wedding day and Denise met that request. The make up on myself, my mother and bridesmaids was so natural looking and everyone looked gorgeous. Denise did hair and makeup for my mother and I for my wedding. We both came out absolutely beautiful and glowing. She has a real gift for both hair styling and makeup. I was having a destination wedding and flew in just a couple days before the wedding, so I was not able to meet with her beforehand. It didn’t seem to faze her though and she was able to work magic on both of us. I have never felt or looked so beautiful before in my life, and my mother felt the same way. She was very kind and relaxed while doing everything which is nice when you’re the opposite on your wedding day! My hair and makeup stayed perfectly intact through the whole day and night. I really can not say enough good things about her. She is 110% worth the money and peace of mind for on your wedding day. -

Denise was amazing and it was such a pleasure to work with her on my wedding day. She brought a team of 3 stylists with her to Palm Desert and they all were fantastic. I had 10 bridesmaids, the MOB and MOG, and myself.....and, everyone's hair turned out SO well!! I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome and all of the stylists, particularly Denise, were very professional, kind, efficient but also patient. Denise and I had a trial a month before the wedding, at which point I wanted to wear my hair down. But, after realizing that it was going to be over 100 degrees in the Desert, I had a change of heart. I live in Chicago so was not able to make it back out to CA for another hair trial before the wedding. I was a little nervous about having her put it up since we had not tried that before the big day, but she did it perfectly!! I honestly would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone. She made my wedding day stress free and enjoyable. She was quite organized throughout the process- even sent me pictures of possible hair styles to run by my bridesmaids so everyone had an idea of what they wanted going in to the day- and was very reliable. She and her team showed up early, stayed late and were high energy all the way through! I can't begin to say enough kind things...if you are looking for an amazing hair stylist for your wedding, she is absolutely the one to choose!!! -

Denise and her team of stylists cant be beat!! I was in a horrible situation and they totally saved me from a major wedding day hair catastrophy! About a month from my wedding day the stylist i had originally chosen cancelled on me. Having 9 bridesmaid i was unsure i would be able to find a qualified stylist in time. Luckily i was highly recommended to Denise!! Denise is very professional and makes you feel extremely comfortable from the 1st phone call to the thank you card she sends immediately after. Denise meets with you twice before your big day. Once for the inital consulation where you bring pictures and ideas and she makes 100% sure you are comfortable with all expectations. The second appointment is a trial style where she plays with your hair until it is the exactly what you want. She is very talended and really listens to your overall vision. She makes every effort to make you special day perfect. One of the coolest things was that she took my hair down before i left the salon after my trial. She wanted my hair to be a total surpirse for everyone. And she was right! I kept it a secret and everone was blown away when they saw my hair the day of my wedding. Denise and her team of 2 other girls did amazing styles for all 9 of my bridesmaids, myself, and my mom. And believe it or not she finished early!! There was even a point in time where Denise and her team had a 45 minute break while they waited for the wedding party to finish with our makeup. I highly recommned Denise to anyone looking for 5 star service with a personal touch for their wedding day. -

Denise is simply wonderful! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is one of the best in the business and provides a quality of service that made me feel confident and at ease during such an important time in my life. Denise is absolutely amazing! She is professional, kind, and a true artist.
I can't say enough about my make-up on my wedding day. She did a beautiful job and I received so many compliments the day of our wedding. She will put you at ease from the moment you meet her, and make you feel so comfortable. I knew I was in perfect hands when we met during my initial trial run. On my wedding day, she even helped me with some last minute touch ups with my hair, veil etc. My bridesmaids and mother were so pleased and very happy with her too. She is a class act and listens to exactly what you envision for your day. She goes over all of the details.. I am so glad that I found her. You will not be disappointed. -

Denise helped me orchestrate the entire look of my wedding. When I picked out my veil, (which I absolutely adore) she carefully considered my hair (which she colored for me the week before my destination wedding in Mammoth Lakes, CA), my overall sense of style, my dress and the entire look of our wedding. She was patient and professional with me offering honest and helpful feedback about my selections. We picked out the veil that captured both my own sense of style and helped tie in the feel of the wedding. She also helped me pick out earrings to match not only my veil and dress but that also tied in my own baby pearl necklace which I have had since I was very young and really wanted to wear. She even helped my mom find the perfect pair of earrings for my brother's wedding which was 6 months after mine. Denise's own style is classic, beautiful, effortless and timeless and she translates these qualities into every look she creates. Her help in planning the look of my wedding was invaluable. -

Denise was fabulous. Not only did she rescue my damaged hair, she managed to give me a perfect wedding hairstyle that matched my personality and complemented my dress. She was extremely flexible and reliable; she was also able to easily communicate with me and understood what I wanted. Above all, Denise was professional and represents herself honestly. She absolutely knows what she is doing, and her work speaks volumes. I highly recommend her!! -

Denise is a fantastic hair stylist! She was nice enough to squeeze last minute (a month) before my wedding. She will come to you for a more expensive rate or you can go to her salon in Newport Beach. Since I didn't have time to do a trial run with her, I just emailed her a few pictures of what I was looking for. She really understood my vision and knows what she's doing. She created the updo I was looking for. A lot of people complimented me on my updo and overall I was very pleased with everything. She's super sweet, professional and talented! -

Denise is the most fashionable, original, creative, artistic, stylist I have ever met or worked with! From my very first visit, she was able to create and understand EXACTLY what I was looking for and pulled it off effortlessly. The ulitimate result was that she made me the most beautiful, picture perfect bride imaginable! My hair and makeup stayed on all day and night like magic, no touch ups needed. Denise was wonderful to work with. She has such a fresh taste and will make anyone look gorgeous on their wedding day. I loved having a practice session with her because it made the wedding day much less stressful. Also, it was a treat for her to come to my house to get me ready. Denise was absolutely amazing, and I would recommend her highly to anyone. I am Asian, and I had the most difficult time finding a hair and makeup artist with the skill and knowledge to work with my thick, straight hair and my Asian facial features. On the consult visit, I knew that she was different from the other hair and makeup artists I consulted with. She carefully tailored my hairstyle and makeup to perfectly accentuate my natural features, and I looked absolutely gorgeous. On the wedding day, she was focused, attentive, and transformed me into the beautiful bride that I never thought I could be. I got numerous compliments on how beautiful I looked that evening. She is on the pricier side, but she is well worth the cost. You only get to be a bride once (ideally), and investing in a talented hair and makeup artist is a MUST, especially if you are shelling out the a hefty chunk of change on your photographer/videographer. Our photos came out so amazing that it is going to be featured in the upcoming Ceremony magazine.

Denise was great!!!!!! I found her in a Best of bridal mag a year before my wedding and after going to her website, I knew she was the one I wanted. She was so friendly and professional at the same time. She has a great portfolio for those brides who aren't sure what "look" they want for their big day, like myself. Her makeup stayed in tact my whole wedding day and night, despite the plethora of happy tears I displayed. I highly recommend her! -
