We recently had our daughter's wedding at Twickenham and everything was beyond our expectations. The beauty of Twickenham & surrounding property was breathtaking! Our wedding planner, Bethany was the absolute best planner I could ever hope for. The staff was wonderful to work with and the catering by Morchella Provisions was outstanding. Twickenham is a beautiful & romantic wedding venue. -

I thought I wrote my review after the wedding 2 years ago. Bethany was an amazing help from start to finish. I was planning my wedding all the way from San Antonio,Texas. She was very patient and very helpful days leading up to the wedding and the day of. Beautiful scenery at the Twickenham house. However the ride up is a to the venue/house is bit rocky. But you’re on a mountain I wouldn’t expect anything less. -

Never have I been as compelled to write a review as I have for this venue and their staff. From the day we first spoke with the Twickenham team, they provided an absolutely world class experience. Leigh was an absolute rock star, helping my wife and I through every step of the wedding planning process. The venue is even more beautiful than you could imagine, and the 3 night stay was incredibly comfortable and memorable for all of our guests. There was no pressure to use preferred vendors (other than catering but this is clearly disclosed up front), however, they were happy to provide recommendations, all of which turned out to be phenomenal. Their partner restaurant delivered a delicious meal, and were very attentive to all of our guests at the bar. Leigh and her team ensured that the entire weekend was as perfect and stress free as we could have possibly hoped for. We truly could not be happier with our choice and would recommend this venue and team to anyone. -

Leigh and the entire crew were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! First of, the venue. It is an amazing spot which will transform your wedding from great to phenomenal! The views are breathtaking and the accommodations are 5-Star. Secondly, Leigh Harrow! I could not ask for any better wedding planner! I mean literally, one does not exist. From day one she has been two steps ahead of us, she knew exactly what we wanted to make our day phenomenal! She had recommendations that we would have never thought of. Her recommendations for chef, musicians, flower artists, makeup artist, photographer and videographer were top notch! She from day one was not only our wedding planner but our friend as well. If we forgot something, she was quick to get it for us without a second thought. I just can't imagine having anyone else help us plan our wedding! She is the only one you want planning your event!!! The chef, John Walsh is on par with any Michelin Star Chef out there. Everything from the Hors d'oeuvres to the main course, to the desert was as good as you will find in any Michelin Star rated restaurant out there. Our guests had high praises for the chef and how amazing every aspect of the culinary part of our wedding was. The rehearsal dinner was no different! It was some of the best food we could have hoped for and more. I would hire him for any event you may have! Twickenham House is the place to go for your wedding or event. I could not imagine having it anywhere else! It would not have been the same! -

We had the chance to tour Twickenham with Bethany and she was great at helping us visualize the space and how everything would flow on our wedding day!
I'll start by saying that we did decide on a different venue based on a couple of factors personal to us and our family/friends. The view of the mountains and the stone detail for the ceremony made that a very difficult decision!
The grounds have a large brick house and a smaller house for guests to stay on the property. They are decorated by the owner who has an eye for gorgeous English antique pieces that are really unique and would be great photo moments for you and your guests. Some of the rooms have many beds for family or bridal party who all know each other well and some rooms are more private for couples, parents, etc.
The drive up to the house seems a bit long on paper but when I tell you it is BEAUTIFUL. I mean, the drive alone is a whole experience.
I think this is a great wedding destination for a warm and inviting wedding where you get to have your family and friends around you the whole time and have your ceremony, reception, and rehearsal dinners all within walking distance -

My family and I cannot say enough great things about Twickenham House and its staff! We booked the house sight unseen for our January wedding, but this was no issue whatsoever as the coordinating team was available to answer all of our questions very, very promptly. Our families stayed on the property for 4 nights, and have nothing but great things to say about their time there. The housekeeping staff were friendly and so helpful to have available!
We worked directly with Bethany to plan our big day, and she was a dream coordinator! She was readily available and texted or called me back same-day. She helped us tackle any issues that arose throughout the process, and put our minds at ease long before we ever got to the house! She offered great ideas and suggestions for both the ceremony and reception. She was very flexible and accommodating, and went above and beyond in every way!
On the day of our wedding, we had to change from an outdoor to an indoor ceremony location due to weather, but it could not have been a more flawless transition. In fact, Bethany and her team did such an amazing job making the switch last-minute that multiple guests told us they had no idea it wasn't supposed to be indoors from the beginning! I had no stress the day of the wedding, despite all of the changes happening, because I knew that the team had everything under control. After the ceremony, they flipped the site for the reception and, again, it could not have gone more smoothly. Leigh, who is another member of the coordinating team, was equally as essential to making our day happen even BETTER than we had hoped or planned. It takes a truly talented and professional team to make a couple's "backup plan" work so well.
Bethany was a delight to work with, from start to finish. I cannot recommend her or Twickenham enough. We had high expectations for our wedding weekend, and they were not only met, but exceeded.

Rebecca Sent on 12/23/2017My family recently had the privilege of staying at Twickingham House. Let me start by saying that the view is phenomenal. The rooms were big but cozy and so well decorated. We loved the old tubs and walk in showers. The kitchen fit our every need and we had everything at our disposal to create wonderful dishes. The two dishwashers were perfect for clean up. The fireplace in the livingroom was so warm and toasty perfect for sipping hot cocoa at the end of the day. The Hall is gorgeous with a fireplace big enough to fit Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendnego. Our family enjoyed every minute there and we highly recommend it for couples lilooking for an intimate venue for family and friends.

The estate was stunning and flawless...it was everything we could have hoped for. The staff helped with so many details and were gracious throughout. It was a dream wedding venue - I'd get married there myself if I wasn't already taken ;-)

Caryn Sent on 12/23/2017It's only been six days since our vow renewal, but I still feel like I'm walking on air. Our three days at Twickenham was something out of a dream. I still have to remind myself that it really happened, and I'm not the only one that felt that way. Each of the couples among our guests who stayed with us remarked about how extraordinary the experience was, like something from the Great Gatsby. I planned, anticipated and built up the weekend for months and months ahead of time, but it still did not disappoint. The photos just don't do it justice of just how beautiful every detail is, how the owners have planned and prepped for every aspect of your wedding and stay that even you didn't think of, of all the many stunning spaces and sights that surround you and how special it makes you, your guests and family feel. The estate isn't just a wedding venue. It's an experience that includes the relaxation of a spa, the comforts of home, the beauty of being in a vintage Victorian setting and the luxury of being surrounded with only the best that was carefully selected with you in mind. I'm confident that even the most attentive celebrity assistants and high-end wedding coordinators have not put as much thought and energy into each aspect of your stay and wedding day as Jocelyn has. The set up assistants she provides in the run up and day of seemed to just know my every thought and planned for even what I didn't. They're not intrusive, but they seem to just appear whenever you need them and bring a calming presence to even the most hectic moments. There's always something that comes up, but at Twickenham, you can rest assured that they will take care of it no matter what. If you're considering a venue, trust me when I say, Twickenham House and Hall is the perfect place to bring your dream to life at an affordable price that will blow you away for all you get. I just couldn't imagine having gone anywhere else. Our vow renewal was so amazing, it far surpassed even our wedding.

They were genuine, professional, easy to work with, and very flexible throughout the planning process and weekend events. Such a beautiful venue that provided our family and friends with a setting and weekend of celebrations that we will never forget! -

I want to preface this review by saying I have left official online reviews for all of our wedding vendors – good, bad, ugly (mostly great). I truly wish I could give this venue five stars. I believe it has excellent potential, but there were a few things that were very upsetting to us. With this being said, there is nowhere else I would have wanted to get married.
I’m still not sure Jocelyn (owner) even knows who I am. Every time I came up to the venue she looked at me like we had never met. When I arrived for my bridal portraits she seemed confused to see me, even though I had communicated with her multiple times through email & text.
If you are a very organized, Type A bride, this is probably not the venue for you. I’m not sure if it’s because we brought in our own wedding coordinator or what, but Jocelyn was not very receptive to us. Instead of communicating with me about table set ups and rental items, she simply told me to work with my coordinator on this. Without Jocelyn’s help, I planned the entire ceremony & reception set up, and sent her a very detailed email with pictures and PDFs for reference. I sent her this email 6 weeks before our wedding, just to make sure there was time to make changes if needed. I got a reply thanking me for the detailed email.
Four days before my wedding, she informed me that I could not have the tables set up the way I had asked because they had gotten new farm tables and they were 150lbs each and didn’t like moving them. I had already done table arrangements, paid an artist to paint our guest’s names for the seating chart, and confirmed floral arrangements. I was asked three separate times what items I wanted to rent from her, even though I had sent a detailed list in my email over a month before. Jocelyn eventually compromised with me and myself and our wedding party physically moved some of the farm tables out of the reception hall. Twickenham never set up some of the things we specifically asked for (volleyball net, big JENGA, croquet, bocce ball).
On Friday – she tried to convince us to do our rehearsal dinner up at the cliffs even though it was freezing cold and windy. Her staff then didn’t start setting up or cleaning the grounds until hours before our rehearsal. She stated she could not get ahold of them and they had already set up at the cliffs. We also paid $175 for someone to “man” the fire during our ceremony and didn’t see the guy the entire time.
In a nut shell, she was extremely unorganized and unreceptive to us. I was warned by a previous bride not to use her for planning or weekend of coordinating and I’m glad I listened. I find it hard to believe that they treated Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, this way when they got married.
However – we had an incredible weekend despite everything. The view made the rest of the headaches worth it. I hope that very soon Jocelyn hires someone who can run this venue better than she can. -

Be extremely wary of this venue. Yes, it’s beautiful. But, it’s going to cost you. The owners are just in it for the money, and you could be left high and dry. It’s line item after line item with them, which adds up super quickly. You needs Setup? Plates? Barware? Napkins? Tablecloths? Ice? Staff? Decor? Guest transportation? Each of these items (and so many more) will cost you, both financially and in planning stress. And it’s worth noting that there are very few vendors who actually service the area, and the few that do are much more expensive than you’d expect. I should have known better when I received their 42-page angry contract, but we were in awe of the space and decided to just do it.
We booked for August 22, 2020, more than a year in advance. Enter COVID-19. As the pandemic started to unfold, we were cautiously optimistic. But the numbers kept rising. When we reached out to Twickenham, the responses were cold and unsatisfying. In May, we were told that they were not willing to reschedule us for a future date. We were told that they were still actively holding events for 42 guests (we had 125), and that staff didn’t count towards that number, per their lawyer. NC was still in phase 1 - gatherings of less than 10 - and this is an indoor reception venue… but they would not compromise on a new date, even in late June. I asked about any new protocols or cleaning being offered - of course there was additional housekeeping available for a fee - but no other assurances were given on how they were addressing the situation!
Even pre-covid, this venue did not have their act together. On our first visit up the very steep and treacherous mountain, our sales agent was 20 mins late and arrived without keys. We had to jump the rock wall and fence to gain access to the estate. On our second visit, Jocelyn was double booked and we waited more than an hour before being able to chat through our wedding vision. And yet, only a wee portion of of that conversation was even captured as I was transferred to my 3rd wedding planner at Twickenham in just a few months.
I know Jocelyn will claim that I was “behind on payments” and “per the contract” as she did many times over the past few months, because she loves to respond to these reviews as to why she was right. But to be very clear, we decided in May (before any payments were “late”) that we were not comfortable making any more non-refundable payments because the venue was not acting responsibly and was not willing to negotiate. Why would I give them thousands more non-refundable dollars, in order to maybe have a small wedding that put the lives of the ones I love most at risk? 3/4 of our parents are high-risk with pre-existing conditions, not to mention the aunts and uncles.
I waited 2 weeks after the official date to post this review because I was honestly scared they would sue me for all the money “past due.” I lost about $10k on this event that never happened, and had to consult with an attorney about any potential liability because of the insane contract, all because the owner was unable to act like a compassionate human being during a global pandemic. There are so many beautiful venues in the NC highlands. Don’t put yourself through the stress of a Twickenham wedding.
