I can go on and on about how amazing Toiyabe Golf Club is! My husband (then fiance) and I live in Reno and wanted a beautiful mountainous venue close to home with scenic views when we started planning our wedding in March 2022. When we searched the Tahoe area, everything was either too expensive or too small. Then on our way home, while driving through Washoe Valley, my husband and I spontaneously swung by Toiyabe Golf Club, and I’m glad we did. Not only did the venue have exactly the look and feel we wanted for our fall wedding but Savannah, the venue coordinator, was extremely accommodating!
Fast forward to our wedding this past Saturday(October 14, 2023) and we had the most beautiful wedding I could have dreamed! From set up to breakdown, Savannah and her staff were there for us making sure our vision came to life. Savannah answered all our questions(I constantly had questions for her over our 1 year and 7 month engagement) from the minute we signed our contract. She was flexible in accommodating any special requests we had for our big day and never said no to our ideas. The venue also comes with a day of wedding coordinator, ours was Kendra! Wow, she was with us the entire day making sure we were happy and keeping everything on schedule. Aside from checking in on us all day and running the day’s schedule, she also assisted the groom, photographer and I with our wedding photos. She helped call out our family’s names getting everyone needed to the photo area and she brought us a box with appetizers to make sure we ate before the groom and I took our one on one photos. She also came with us on our Photoshoot to make sure my dress looked perfect! I felt so pampered and taken care of. These are just some highlights, but overall, Kendra was with us every step of the way from our first phone call with her a few months before the wedding to the day!
Other things about the venue I appreciated was the extensive getting ready space and how staff had it all setup and decorated when we arrived, the venue’s amazing food, and the overall price of everything. It was extremely affordable for such a beautiful venue! Many of our wedding guests told us it was the most beautiful venue they had ever seen, and we couldn’t agree more! Thank you Toiyabe and staff for helping us plan the wedding of our dreams!! -

We had the most beautiful and amazing wedding out at Toiyabe Golf Club. Savannah was incredible to work with, and even though there was a slight mix-up with our wedding rehearsal date/time, it got worked out and everything went smoothly. The food was incredible & we had a lovely day from start to finish! -

I am so glad I found Toiyabe Golf Club to host my wedding!!! It's a beautiful venue and their staff is absolutely amazing. They are quick to respond and very flexible. They coordinated with me and my vendors; our wedding day went off without any issues. Our guests had an amazing time! -

Beautiful Wedding Reception
My husband and I recently held our wedding reception at Toiyabe Golf Club in February. It was a perfect day for us! Savannah took care of everything on our wedding day including where to put the decorations I brought for the event. She also went above and beyond to create a hot chocolate station for the kids at our reception. She was always available to answer questions and help plan the event from the beginning, all the way to our big day! Her staff provided excellent service and all of our guests enjoyed the reception thanks to their efforts. Toiyabe Golf Club has a beautiful venue inside and out. We were also able to take some beautiful pictures outside on the golf course with the beautiful Sierra Mountain Range in the background. We had a perfect wedding day thanks to Savannah and her team at Toiyabe! -

Toiyabe is such a beautiful venue - I grew up in the area and the valley, and Slide Mountain, have special meaning for both of us. We worked with Savannah, who at the time was fairly new [I believe] to the club as their F&B manager. Inclusive in the venue fee is a day of coordinator - ours was Beth from My Wedding Library. Both Savannah and Beth were lovely to work with. On the day of the wedding they managed to keep everything flowing while seemingly being invisible - and Beth even made sure that I ate by bringing snacks after the ceremony, in between pictures! I was thrilled, I didn't think I'd get to try any of the apps.
The food was delicious, and there was a large variety to choose from. Our tasting was great - we had the restaurant to ourselves. We met the chef and he told us about the heirloom tomatoes and other fun bits of the meal we'd just eaten. He clearly put a lot of care into creating the dishes.
If I could do it all over, I would definitely still choose to book Toiyabe. Particularly in the fall, it's just too gorgeous to pass up! -

This place has breath taking views!!! We could not have asked for a more beautiful location to get married! The moment we walked in we knew this was the place for us. We booked on the spot and it was a decision we will never regret.
Sabrina and her staff were a crucial roll in making our day special. She went out of her way to accommodate us and our needs from the moment we booked to well after our ceremony. I couldn't have been happier with her services.
Hats off to the chef, the food was amazing!! We will be back to have dinner just as a date night.
There are many perks you get when you book Toiyabe Golf Club that you just wouldn't get anywhere else. Like the sparkler send off.....so awesome and makes for great photos!!
Thank you so much Toiyabe for making our wedding so special!

I picked this place site unseen because I live in TN and couldn’t travel to see it before the wedding and I can’t even begin to tell you how amazed I was. Sabrina was the most wonderful person I’ve ever met. She handled everything beautifully and if we switched something up on her last minute she was like okay cool let’s do it! Her and her staff were wonderful. The only bad thing I have to say is that i couldn’t hang out there longer because they made you feel like family! Thank you very everything!! -

This venue is located in the Washoe Valley, with an amazing view of the mountains from the clubhouse! Sabrina was an amazing coordinator that got everything ready for our wedding day. The food was amazing and everything was perfect during our ceremony and reception. I would recommend this to anyone for a wedding venue! Thank you again Sabrina and the Toiyabe Staff! -

Created The Perfect Day!
My husband I loved this venue and cannot say enough about how amazing our whole wedding experience was! Being from Southern CA, we wanted a scenic but intimate destination wedding, and selected Toiyabe Golf Course based on pictures, reviews, and pricing. Upon visiting in person, we were wowed by the spectacular view of the valley, peaceful and serene with lush green mountains and sparkling lakes nearby, a small paradise a short distance outside of Lake Tahoe. We were honored to work with the best coordinators, Sabrina and Peyton, who were easy to contact, quick to respond to our questions, were very attentive to detail, had a great organizational system in place, and made the whole planning process super easy, even referring us to their preferred vendors (whom all were awesome as well). They went all out to ensure that our set up was beautifully decorated just as we wanted, that our event timeline were perfect, and that everything necessary was handled, so it made our wedding day so much more relaxed not having to worry about all of the details. The whole staff was excellent, with our food and drink selections being delicious as well, where our guests provided many compliments. Sabrina and Peyton even had our decorations and other items packed up quickly and professionally after the event, helping us load up our car, saving us lots of time and avoiding a return trip. Overall, we could not have asked for a more wonderful experience than what Toiyabe provided, and would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking to book a wedding! -

We absolutely loved Toiyabe golf course. Sabrina and her crew went out of their way to help us make our daughter’s wedding very special. The food was amazing, the facility was amazing and the staff was great. -

When planning my wedding back in June of 2019, secretly I always knew I wanted it at Toiyabe! But I had my future husband look at a couple venues and then was relieved when he wanted Toiyabe too! When we first started planning the wedding we had worked with Sabrina who we got to know very well and then January 2020 she left. Savannah took over and everything seemed like it was falling into place. In April 2020 COVID was really taking over our lives that we canceled our original date of May 2020 and moved it to October 2020. Savannah kept track of everything for us and was very accommodating to the entire situation we were all in! On the day of the wedding, that morning things were going great! Savannah had everything under control! The venue looked exactly what I had imagined! The food was absolutely perfect! Savannah made sure my husband and I ate dinner! Which was wonderful! We got a couple of the appetizers while we were taking photos ( I didn’t think I was gonna get any! And I was so happy I did! ) the bridal suite they have now for the girls to get ready! Is absolutely so wonderful! It was nice to have this little area where I wasn’t in anyone’s way or vice a versa. At some point the power went out at the venue but no one freaked out the best was just made out of the situation I truly can’t not thank you enough Savannah you are truly amazing and I’m so thankful that you gave me the wedding I have been thinking about for over 2 years! Thank you so very much! ♥️ -

Beautiful, Scenic and Perfect Wedding Reception
Our wedding dinner here at Toiyabe was the most perfect day from start to finish. Sabrina was always available to answer questions, she entertained all of our many ideas and played them out for us. Peyton was wonderful to work with as well. This golf club is so absolutely gorgeous. The whole venue is yours when you do a wedding - the dance floor with the fireplace on one end and the picturesque Sierras on the other end, the panoramic windows that allow you to take in the whole view, the wrap around porch, EVERYTHING was lovely!!! We found this place for our wedding when we came here to golf one day and I am so glad we did. It is one of the most beautiful venues in the Reno/Tahoe area. You are crazy if you are planning a wedding in this area and do not check out this tucked away yet accessible location. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Everyone raved about the venue. Our dinner was absolutely delicious too- we went all out with steak and lobster for our small group- the steak was like butter 🤤 omg I wish we could have that again and the lobster tail was perfectly steamed. Our day changed a lot from the initial plans and Toiyabe worked with us every step of the way. Thank you! -

Lara Sent on 12/14/2014Where do I begin? The staff at Thunder Canyon, especially Denise Sullivan were amazing. More than amazing. For me, the hardest part about planning my wedding was the fact my husband-to-be is a wildland firefighter and he was MIA for most of the planning. In fact, he was fighting fires 5 days before our wedding. When I first met with Denise at Thunder Canyon I was overwhelmed with wedding details, since my in-laws live on the east coast, and my family is in Reno. I had to have met with Denise half a dozen time in the months leading up to the wedding and she was patient each and every time. All of the food options I tried were all amazing and it was hard to choose from! The chef even came out at one of our final food tastings and offered to basically cook anything we asked for. I do recommend having hair and makeup come to the venue on your wedding day as there is a large locker room to get ready in and its one less detail to figure out. The different areas of the property for photos are all breathtaking and beautiful. I would highly recommend Thunder Canyon to any bride-to-be. -

Beautiful hidden gem
My husband and I are horrified that we had to find a new venue when our original one closed due to Covid. We hit a jackpot when it comes to Toiyabe though. The scenery is gorgeous and even the drive to the venue is stunning. I HIGHLY suggest hiring a day-of coordinator (We had She Said Yes wedding planning) to help everything go smoothly. -

Avoid this venue if you're looking for a seamless, professional wedding experience. Toiyabe Golf Club may have had a great reputation under their previous wedding coordinator, Savannah, but unfortunately, the current team lacks her experience and organization. My wedding was marred by significant issues, from missing and mismatched rentals to poor execution of our planned details—ultimately resulting in a financial loss for us on food and rentals. It felt as though our wedding was used as a training opportunity for the staff, who were simply not prepared to handle an event of this importance.
When I attempted to address these issues with upper management, they were unresponsive and unwilling to resolve the problems we faced. I’m writing this review to help other couples avoid the stress and disappointment we endured. If you want a wedding venue that values your day and has a passionate, experienced team, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
