Amanda gave me a makeup lesson to prepare to do my own wedding makeup. She was super helpful in helping me to pick the look that best suited my goals and gave great recommendations for the products to use to make sure everything stayed in place over the long day. She let me record the whole lesson so I could go back and reference the techniques and was also super kind to answer questions that I had in the weeks post lesson. I highly recommend working with Amanda!! -

I’ve never felt more beautiful
Where do I even start!!!! Amanda is one of the most talented and sweet people I’ve ever met. I’m not a make up girly and was extremely nervous about wanting to still look like myself on my wedding day and Amanda just exceeded my expectations. She gave me the most natural glowy look. I’ve truly never felt more beautiful in my life. I got lucky enough to have her do my make up twice as it down poured on my wedding day and got to revisit my venue a 2nd time for more pictures and again she made me feel unbelievably beautiful. I couldn’t recommend her enough!!! -

From our very first consultation, Amanda stood out for her warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. I ended up requesting a second consultation to completely change my look, and she was so receptive and welcoming. She truly listened, collaborated with me, and made sure we landed on something I absolutely loved.
On the morning of the wedding, she arrived fully prepared with her amazing team. I had asked for a very natural, low-maintenance look (which can be hard to find in the wedding world), and Amanda delivered it flawlessly. She made me feel like the best version of myself: polished, radiant, and still completely me.
And beyond her artistry, she went above and beyond in so many ways, including literally helping me get into my dress when things got tricky. I genuinely don’t think I would have made it into it without her 😅. Amanda is not only incredibly talented at what she does, she’s also a calming, joyful presence to have around on such an important day.
She’s a lifesaver, a true professional, and just an all-around wonderful human being. I feel so lucky to have had her as part of my wedding day team. 💕 -

I found Amanda while searching for wedding hair and makeup artists, and after inquiring and speaking with her about her services, I trusted I was in good hands and didn’t need to look any further. Amanda worked with me through my engagement photoshoot, hair and makeup trials, and of course the wedding day.
Amanda is talented, kind, attentive, professional, and brings a calming presence to what can be a hectic and emotional time. She truly listens and thoughtfully blended her expertise with my preferences to create a look that felt like an elevated version of myself.
On the wedding day, Amanda also provided hair and makeup services for my mom and Babe of Honor. She made each of us feel confident, cared for, and beautiful. Amanda is incredible! She was recommended to me by my wedding planner and I am so grateful. I did a hair and makeup trial with her before my wedding and then had her and two of her team members do hair and makeup for my whole family on my wedding day. She really listened to my feedback during the trial so that I was happy with the final result. She has such a warm and calming presence on such a stressful day (especially because I had a major issue with my wedding dress that needed to be resolved quickly and had forgotten some hair pieces that my husband had to bring which delayed us a bit), and I am so grateful for her significant part in making it a special and enjoyable day for me! Moreover, she was so kind to stay longer than our planned time when my brother-in-law's mom wanted to get her makeup done last minute. All of my friends and family were very happy with her whole team's work and I highly recommend her for any weddings or other events! -

Most Talented Hair and Makeup Artist
Amanda was everything I needed on my wedding day. I had no stress or worries on my wedding day because of Amanda. She is amazing at doing both hair and makeup and can give you exactly what you envisioned on your wedding day. Her positivity blossoms and her energy make you feel comfortable. I felt beautiful on my wedding day and Amanda is a huge part of that feeling I will never forget. She also did my mother and sisters hair and makeup. She felt so at peace with her presence, and she did such a beautiful job with their hair and makeup. I would give Amanda more than 5 stars if there was an option. My memory will always be a happy one on my wedding and that is because of Amanda. She has the most beautiful soul and is truly an artist.

Amanda is a true artist!
Amanda was incredible from the moment I contacted her. She asked me how I wanted my hair and makeup and she did not disappoint! I felt absolutely beautiful and my hair and makeup were perfect. She also made my mother look like a queen. She never wears makeup and she felt so beautiful. I am so appreciative of Amanda’s true attention to detail. I could tell she is a true artist and my face was a canvas. A family friend recommended her and she is kind, outgoing, and we all enjoyed talking with her while we were getting ready. My ceremony was small and intimate and my only regret is not having her do my friend’s hair and makeup too because she is a true artist! Thank you Amanda for making me feel like a princess and my mother like a queen for a day! -

Amanda and her assistant did the hair and makeup of my dreams for my wedding day, as well as the ladies in mine and my husband's family. I asked for a low, messy bun for my hairstyle and Amanda delivered with the most beautifully intricate (but somehow still looked effortless) updo. As someone who doesn't wear much makeup, it was important to me to have a natural, glowy look to my makeup and Amanda took care to do just that. I also loved that Amanda uses really clean hair and makeup products. Amanda and her assistant were both so sweet and easy to talk to. It made for a relaxing and fun morning on the day of the wedding. Amanda was a fabulous choice for us as a hair and makeup artist on our wedding day. We did a makeup test with her about a month and a half before the wedding, and we all got along really well. She used to be a radio DJ, and transitioned into hair and makeup because she wanted people using more natural, sustainable products that were better for the environment and skin. The bride looked beautiful on her wedding day, and the groom looked amazing too! We're so glad we both did hair and makeup. Amanda really took her time to make sure everything looked perfect. As a mixed-race couple, we wanted to make sure to find someone that was used to, or able to work with darker skin tones. She knew exactly what to do. The makeup stayed on even with us sweating on a hot June day. Jennifer got lots of compliments! We both look gorgeous in the teaser photos from our wedding. We know the rest of our photos be ohh so beautiful! We highly recommend Thorne Artistry for your wedding or special event.

I cannot say enough good things about Amanda and her team at Thorne Artistry. I had the best experience with her for my wedding. She helped me find a look for my hair and makeup that made me feel beautiful for my wedding day.
All of my bridesmaids and myself raved about how they felt like an elevated version of themself. Amanda is incredibly knowledgeable at what she does and educated me on the different makeup looks and helped me find what is best for me.

Amanda is truly one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met!!! She and her team were absolutely INCREDIBLE on the morning of my wedding day and things could not have gone any smoother. I am lucky enough to call Amanda, owner of Thorne Artistry, my friend, and I was thrilled to be able to hire her for my wedding at Frank Sinatra's Twin Palms Estate in Palm Springs.

We had the absolute best experience working with Amanda for our June 2023 wedding. My wife and I aren't always the best at articulating what we want with our hair/makeup, and after sending a few inspo photos to Amanda she was able to help us achieve our dream looks for the wedding. We could not be more excited coming out of our trial, and were thrilled with how we looked on wedding day!
We were a two bride wedding with enormous bridal parties, which we know is not an easy feat to get that many girls ready on a tight timeline, but Amanda and her team were up to the task. They went above and beyond to give each of our bridesmaids the attention they needed while still keeping us on track with our timeline. Everyone was so fun to work with, and we couldn't be happier with how our girls looked!
I can't thank our wedding planner, Jill, enough for referring us to Amanda. I would recommend her to absolutely anyone, and hope to find myself back in SD with hair and makeup needs so we can hire her again! -

I reached out and booked Amanda in early 2020 for our would-be November 2020 wedding. We postponed twice due to Covid, and finally had our wedding on 9/17/22. She was so understanding and accommodating when it came to postponing, which relieved a lot of stress. I didn't meet her in person until my hair/makeup trial in August of this year. I immediately knew that I made the right choice. She just has this cool, calming aura about her and is incredibly easy to talk to.
On the wedding day, I was SO NERVOUS. She calmed me down, made sure I was drinking water, and even gave me a calming crystal to hold and rub between my hands while she beautified me (it worked)! She gave me several pep talks too, which I appreciated so much. Whenever I get nervous or anxious, I unfortunately break out in hives (like, bad hives) and I knew this was going to happen. Her makeup skills covered it ALL up - I was shocked and still am! The nerves completely went away once I went out and saw everyone (she promised they would).
I LOVED my hair/makeup - at the trial and at the wedding. It was perfect and she understood what I wanted completely. She just gets it - whatever you want done. Instead of bridesmaids, I chose to only have a Maid of Honor. On my wedding day, my MOH and some close family got their hair/makeup done with me. I have a couple family members that don't normally wear makeup and it's out of their comfort zone, but they loved the way they looked. Amanda and her assistant Melissa made everyone super comfortable and it was such a fun part of the day that I will remember forever - just a small group of us spending hours getting made up together. I can't thank her enough for her kindness and making us all feel so beautiful. She's exceptionally talented, professional, and I'm so grateful she was part of our day. -

Amanda is amazing at her job and also as a person.. she makes you feel good in and out.. before my wedding day she was a great help, an ear to listen and planning the timeline , she made it so easy, during my wedding day she went above and beyond helping my bridesmaids and flower girls.. she ddnt have to but she did.. thank you! she loves her job and it shows, the team she brought with her were also as kindhearted as she is and as good at what they do.. this was an experience for me and for my whole bridal party! Confident, fun, relaxing, beautiful
If you're looking for a hair and makeup artist who is going to make you feel beautiful, confident and relaxed before the "I dos" then I highly recommend Amanda! Amanda and her assistant, Tracy, did the hair and make up not only for me but for all my bridesmaid, my mom and my mother-in-law.
Additionally, I opted for the bridal trial, which was 100% worth it! It was great to have an idea of what I wanted and nothing really changed because Amanda captured my vision from pictures I showed her! I was debating between false lashes and lash extensions and the bridal trial was helpful for me to see what would be best for me (I went with lash extensions only because my eyes watered a ton at the trial and I didn't want them the lashes to be falling off while I cried at the ceremony lol)
Amanda was great at calming nerves, offering advice and making sure everyone's request for hair and make up was met. Amanda felt like a friend by the end of the day. She is a genuine, talented and extremely kind human. Highly highly recommend!! -

Amanda is absolutely amazing. She did my hair and makeup for my wedding day and let me tell you I have never felt more beautiful in the most natural way. She has a gift of accentuating your beautiful qualities without making you feel like someone just caked on a bunch of makeup. Here are the reasons why I would hire her for your wedding.
Your package includes a trial hair and makeup - most people do but Amanda takes it step further and really gives you honest advice. Explaining not only what will look good on you but what will photograph well. (I highly recommend using this day for your engagement shoot and or some kind of photoshoot with your wedding photographer it allowed me to see exactly how I would look on our wedding day)
Detail oriented - she will take her time and make sure your look is up to her high standards not only for you but for your whole bridal party she made sure everyone's makeup and hair was in unison however unique to their own looks.
Experienced - because of her experience the process of hair and makeup from start to finish goes relatively quickly however you do not lose the quality and personal touches.
Kind and fun to be around - Wedding days can be stressful mainly because there are a lot of moving parts, but Amanda makes you feel calm not only with her fun personality but also because she has done this for so long you feel in very capable hands knowing you will get exactly what you want for your wedding day look.
I could go on and on about Amanda but I'll leave you with this. If you want to feel absolutely gorgeous on your special day she is the perfect fit! I have never gotten more complements on my hair and makeup and never felt more beautiful. She truly has a gift and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone for your special life events! Absolutely Wonderful!
From start to finish, Amanda was wonderful! I started by reaching out for a quote and she was quick to respond with the full pricing and package list. Based on first impressions, I did not hesitate to book her for my wedding date as vendors were booking quickly due to Covid and I am so thankful I did! She did my bridal hair/makeup and bridesmaids hair/makeup. To allow for a little extra time on wedding day, I chose to have her bring an assistant to help who was Tracy and also did a great job! Amanda uses great quality products as well, which I appreciate. She does great work, makes you feel beautiful and is so easy going and friendly. Every bride needs that vibe on her wedding day! I still feel so lucky that I was able to book Amanda for my hair and makeup for my wedding! I was recommended here from multiple friends who were brides or bridesmaids in weddings that provided her hair/makeup. She originally had my day booked, but the stars aligned and due to a cancellation, I was able to have her! She did my hair and makeup and also had an amazing team who did hair/makeup for 11 bridesmaids, the mother of the bride, the mother of the groom and 3 flower girls. She managed this enormous crew masterfully! Everyone looked incredibly stunning and Amanda and all of her support staff did an amazing job!
On top of all of that, Amanda is just the sweetest soul and the absolute best energy to be around! She is so fun to talk to and has such fun stories to share. I absolutely loved my time with her and need to figure out ways that I can continue to work with her.

If you are looking for a wedding or special event hair and make up artist, look no further! Amanda took my ideas and considerations and created an elevated look for my special day that was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. I have what I believe to be thin hair and was concerned about whether or not a tight and sleek bun would look full enough on my thin haired head, but Amanda immediately proved that concern to be false and made my hair look so thick and full. She styled it into a beautiful and chic bun, adorned with two pearls. It honestly was everything I could have imagined. I'm also not fond of too much make-up, and Amanda took my color scheme/desire to be glowing with a bit of sparkle, and created a look that made me feel SO beautiful and confident. I went back and forth on whether I should do fake eyelashes or not, and Amanda provided the perspective of a professional-- spoiler alert, I went for it! She was so right, they elevated my look and came across beautifully in my professional photos. She was flexible as we changed dates and services (she sourced other artists to accommodate all of the wedding party and Mothers), and provided my mother with a trial as well. She helped my mother choose between multiple hair styles (my mother has thin and short hair like myself), and made my mom feel beautiful too. I was so impressed with her services, and felt so beautiful and simultaneously like myself. She was so fun to talk to and we had a blast getting ready the day of! -- (Also a major plus is that I cried literal tears down the aisle and my makeup and eyelashes remained perfectly intact) --I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a hair or make up artist! -

Amanda made my day so magical! Getting married during a pandemic is no joke (we got married days before the shut down) and I had a really unfortunate experience with another mua. She literally saved the day by stepping in and offering her services. I wanted to book with her originally, so it was like the stars aligned! Not only was she an absolute rock star about making me comfortable and excited about getting dolled up, but she’s as amazing in person. She personalized my look so flawlessly and makeup and hair comes so natural to her, it’s unreal to watch and be a part of. She is also so knowledgeable about skin care and ingredients. There are not enough wonderful things I can say about Amanda! She is so talented and versatile in all things hair and makeup, but she will also make your wedding day feel so smooth and calm like a day at the spa. Her demeanor, professionalism and kind heart make her different than any other vendor and I would highly recommend hiring her if you want to look and feel your best!
I first met Amanda when I had my hair and makeup done for my engagement shoot. When I didn’t need to reapply anything all day or worry about my hair being a mess even though it was windy, I was sold! On our wedding day, Amanda showed up with her assistant to my house. She did my hair and makeup as well as my sister, mom and bridesmaid. Each person had different styles that they wanted and completely different hair types, but Amanda and her team handled everything so gracefully and everyone was elated with the final product. Thank you Amanda!! -

Amanda went above and beyond
I found Amanda through my wedding planner, and am so glad I hired her. I went for a trial a few months before the big day, and that went amazingly - she made me feel super comfortable (it was my first time getting hair/makeup professionally done) and she did a beautiful job. When it came time for the wedding, she exceeded my expectations. Whether it was making sure I had the exact lip color I wanted in a stay-put formula, to dealing with my mother-in-law who decided last minute she wanted her makeup done professionally, she handled everything with grace and ease and took all the stress off of me. My hair and makeup turned out perfectly, photographed well, and stayed on all day/night even at the beach. My bridal party was very pleased with their looks as well. I honestly could not recommend Amanda more!! -

Amanda made our day beautiful in several ways
I can't explain how much of a critical role this woman played in our wedding day. I got the package for 6 people's hair/makeup and touchup, wanting to make sure that some of the women most important to me felt as beautiful as I did. The work that Amanda and Candace (I think?) did for us was so beyond makeup and hair. The morning was an empowering, beautiful time together, with talented and artistic women that would ask what we want, and take that to what they knew would bring out the best in each of us. Watching each of these women smile after their service or while watching eachother was something I will feel and remember as one of the most beautiful parts of the day.
Amanda then followed us to the venue to do touch up with us until the ceremony. This was helping us (me) tighten up some curls or freshen up after a few happy tears or even just with the little sweat around my face during some of the processes of the day. During this time we valued her opinion on jewelry or outfit questions, her help with the corset on my dress, staging makeup photos, placing my veil, or even providing a steamer for one of my gal's dresses. She felt like part of the family, and we were all sad to see her go, though I think we all felt more beautiful and confident than we could have without her.
If you have any wavering on whether you want these services or with who, I would encourage anyone/everyone to reach out to her. She is prompt, the trial was wonderful, and I don't think that our day would have been as easy, relaxed, or beautiful without her. She was excited with us and our ideas for hair, but will also advise what she thinks she will be best for you. She helps you see the beauty in yourself makeup free, and then focuses on enhancing your best parts more than changing anything about you. I will truly never forget the smiles I saw on my beautiful women that morning.

Although this review is FAR overdue as my wedding was in September of 2018, I still could not be any happier with my experience with Amanda. I was looking for more of a natural look and wasn't extremely impressed with any of the other makeup and hair artists I had looked at. I was EXTREMELY particular when searching for a hair and makeup artist, and Amanda was the only one (out of a countless number of people) who seemed to be able to create the natural look I was going for. I don't think I was ever able to accurately describe exactly what I wanted, but Amanda recreated the image I had in my head and exceeded every single one of my expectations. I would not have changed a single thing about my wedding day look, and I truly cannot thank her enough!! She is so incredibly talented and such an absolute joy to be around! I would choose Amanda over and over again without giving it a second thought. I cannot recommend her highly enough!! -

Amanda is Amazing!
Amanda and her assistant (Roxy) did hair and makeup for myself, my 2 bridesmaids, my sister-in-law, two moms and 2 flower girls. Everyone looked amazing and felt like they looked like the best versions of themselves. We had a wide range of hair types (long and thick, short, straight, etc) and she was able to offer great advice on what would work best for our hair type and what would be most flattering. On top of her amazing skills, she's an awesome person to work with! She is fun to chat with and put everyone at ease (she even offered lavender oil when the nerves started to build up). I can't recommend her more! Go check out her Instagram and you'll see what an amazing job she does! I'm from the Chicago area so we weren't able to do a trial or meet Amanda before booking, but her Instagram had the best work by far of what we'd looked at. We decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did! -

I cannot say enough good things about Amanda. I came to her with a vague idea of what I wanted for my wedding; I knew I wanted makeup-wise, but had zero clue what to do with my hair. I went to her for a trial a few months before the wedding and she created a beautiful, elegant, romantic up-do exactly as I’d described to her. In the days before my wedding, I went berserk — totally panicked and scheduled a last-minute follow-up trial with her in which I cried and freaked out about not being sure what to do with my hair. Not only did she totally calm me down, she crafted the most GORGEOUS braid I have ever seen. I LOVED it, it was EXACTLY what I wanted and totally perfect for me.
On wedding day, we replicated the braid and added sprigs of baby’s breath to really up the romance. I felt like Rapunzel.
Her makeup application was flawless AND it lasted me through an outdoor ceremony in Temecula in June and a couple hours of very aggressive dancing.
Having my hair and makeup done by Amanda was honestly one of my favorite parts of my wedding day — She and I have very similar taste in music, so we were singing together and having a total blast along with the bridesmaids in the bridal suite.
Amanda is not only incredibly sweet — with impeccable taste in music — and ridiculously talented, she’s also very professional, responsive, and receptive. She totally got what I wanted and far surpassed my expectations. If you want to feel totally confident and live your best life, go with Amanda. You will not regret it -

Nicky Sent on 03/15/2018Absolutely wish I could give Amanda more than 5 stars - she is absolutely amazing and a delight to be around too! I loved her hair and make-up styling and kept going back for a natural and flowy style for our engagement photos, our engagement party, and my bridal shower. Amanda created a beautiful wedding day styling for me, my four bridesmaids, and my mom! She delivered perfect hair and make-up styles for everyone who requested different styles from my sister-in law with short hair who wanted an updo to my two friends with very long hair (most of the way down their back) who wanted an updo and long curls - everyone was more than happy!
Amanda also did my wedding day make-up and worked with me closely as my husband was particularly interested - and a bit concerned - about the potential for wedding day make-up to come out heavy. I don't typically wear a lot of make-up and he wanted to make sure I still looked like the person he knows and loves and Amanda got the look I wanted while also pleasing my husband, which can often be two different ideas for the male and female perspective on make-up.
Amanda is really attentive, listens to what everyone wants, provides appropriate suggestions to ensure that the hair and make-up styling stays all day, and is such a fun and sweet person to be around! I always looked forward to my appointments with Amanda and miss spending time with her :) She has such a fun, outgoing, and happy personality - we all had so much fun on wedding day laughing and sharing stories! She really is such a highlight and enhances the wedding day experience beyond just beautiful hair and make-up!
I cannot recommend Amanda enough! She will even stay through your ceremony for hair and make-up touch ups, which can be necessary if you are prone to happy tears, like me. Amanda is such a sweet and talented person and I feel like we formed a friendship through the entire process and I cannot thank her or recommend her enough!! Thanks Amanda!! -
