    Great experiences with Yellow Rose!

I'm an engagement ring designer, and I work with Yellow Rose Weddings frequently for styled shoots, etc. They are the nicest, most organized and responsive people, and their shoots are always gorgeous! I can imagine that if they're great to work with as a vendor, they're probably as great or even more amazing if you're a client!

A Stress-Free Dream Wedding Thanks to The Yellow Rose Wedding Team!

We worked with Isabel and The Yellow Rose Wedding team for our August 2023 wedding. Opting for the full planning package was the best decision, especially with my busy schedule. They were upfront about pricing, and there were no surprise costs. Isabel's responsiveness, attention to detail, and constant support made the planning process stress-free. In the 10 months leading up to the wedding, my fiancé and I never argued about wedding planning thanks to Isabel and TYR team.

Isabel acted like a therapist throughout the process, handling every detail, question, and late-night text. We found value in her services through wedding rentals, local vendor connections, and even officiating our marriage. She guided me through the name-change process and added personal touches with thoughtful gifts to us leading up to our special day. Our wedding was perfect, thanks to The Yellow Rose Wedding team!

    Very helpful and informative

I found options for my photographer and I am booking the dj I met there. I only gave myself three months to plan my wedding, and wedding planning is a lot more than I initially thought! I appreciated the wedding expo greatly!

    Best Wedding Decision

I called Isabel desperately hunting for tablecloths a few months before our wedding in March & ended up hiring her to decorate our entire reception & be our wedding coordinator! I was going to do it on my own, but I was sold after one phone call.
Seriously the best decision we made through our entire wedding planning process & I wish I had called her sooner!! She is so incredibly gracious, calm, utterly professional & gave me such a sense of “I got you” from that first phone call. She took so much decision making off of my plate & executed everything for our reception taking that off my family. Not to mention that our reception looked exactly like the inspo photos I had shown her. Perfection.
Also, she was excited for us, cried with us, checked in & asked how we were doing, shielded me when I needed a minute to pull it together… we absolutely loved her!!
Worth every single penny & then some. The best investment we made hands down :)

Outsourcing tasks in the wedding planning process is supposed to take pressure and stress off of a bride. This vendor caused me nothing but anxiety.

I have hesitated on writing this review for months, since negative reviews are usually met with comments explaining away the behavior or experience, but when someone I work with was getting ready to hire a Day Of Coordinator and mentioned seeing Yellow Rose listed on this local wedding site, I knew I needed to at least put it out there for others to see and decide for themselves.

I will start with saying that the team was decently friendly, even if completely ineffectual. Isabel was easy to talk to when we communicated, which led me to believe I was making the right choice when I hired her. As the months went on, I began to see that she was actually not as helpful as she seemed in our initial meeting.

My mother and I have hosted events and thrown large parties for as long as I can remember. We planned and coordinated my sisters wedding like it was nothing, but we figured after running around for every other event we've hosted, we should be able to "take the day off" for my wedding and give the job to someone else for a change! While nothing will go 100% as planned for any wedding, and there will always be small changes you'd make, I still look back on hiring this team as the biggest waste of money in my reasonable budget.

After a phone consultation with Isabel, and comparing the quotes I got from other "Day Of" packages in the area, I made the choice to hire Yellow Rose. I guess technically, the package I purchased was "Month Of Coordinator" but that is debatable.

If you are someone who has little to no sense of design or if you are someone who has never been in or even to a wedding, then Yellow Rose will probably impress you. There was little that I got from this experience that was helpful to me or that a new or creative idea that helped the flow of things.

In a conversation early on with Isabel, I mentioned where I was in the stages of invitations. She said that she could print, address, and mail the invites for me for a fee. This seemed like a great deal compared to others in the area, so I agreed. I paid immediately. I asked for red envelopes with the addresses written in silver, to match the invites. The wedding was in December. I ordered the envelopes and dropped them off to her. I had specific holiday stamps in mind that I wanted on the envelopes, we discussed this and she said that would not be a problem. Two weeks later, Friday afternoon, the afternoon of the day that the invites were scheduled to be in the mail, she let me know that the Post Office did not have the stamps in stock that day and that they would have had to be ordered. Yeah...that's why I had paid weeks ago, thinking they would have been ordered from USPS as soon as I paid. Guess not. So we had to go with some other goofy cartoon Christmas design that was able to be picked up that day. Small drop in the bucket compared to the issues that followed, regarding the invitations.

Thankfully, when I dropped off the red envelopes to her, I included the return address stickers that matched the invites. The silver "hand lettering" on the red envelopes was done in a thick Sharpie marker, and was virtually illegible. I know this, because a handful of these invites were returned to us in the mail as "Undeliverable" because they could not read the address. Some had the incorrect addresses, like wrong zip codes with the street names and cities. As we saw these start to come back to our mailbox, we were horrified thinking that people would think that I wrote them. So embarrassing. At least 9 invites were sent back to us as undeliverable. Others that actually DID make it, had other issues. Printed off (and emailed) a VERY detailed spreadsheet of guest's names and addresses. Names spelled incorrectly, giant lettering on the name on the envelope, forcing the address to be crammed in the bottom in thick silver sharpie. The one that was sent to my parents house, was addressed only to my father. Mother of the bride not invited? Yikes. Who knows what the others said. We ended up having to send out an email to everyone invited with a link to the wedding website...just in case.

When I asked her about this she put all of the blame on the USPS. "Everything is a mess and slow after Covid, it's happening like this everywhere.". Slow mail was not my issue. The issue was paying for invites to be printed and mailed only for them to be returned to sender when no one in the postal service could read that atrocious "handwriting" in messy silver marker. I would have much rather heard an honest answer like "It might be a better idea to print the addresses in a nice font" or suggesting another local invite service instead of promising a service that you could not deliver.

The damage there was done and I needed to move on. As the wedding date drew closer, little things would come up with her that were not outlined in the original meeting. The wedding venue was in Winston Salem, she is based in Greensboro. When I saw that I had little to no faith in her abilities after the invite incident, I knew I needed to bump up the clarity and details in which I asked things from her. Clearly, leaving room for interpretation cost me the vision of my wedding invites, not to mention the wasted stamps on the returned mail. I figured "I probably need to take her on a walkthrough of the venue and show her everything I had planned." Turns out, that would have cost me an extra fee. Nothing extra seemed worth it to us at that point so we said we could give her the walk through at the rehearsal. She said "oh, did you need me to come to that?" What? Yeah, it would be nice if you did SOMETHING to make all this money I paid worth it.
She arrived at the rehearsal walk through, and we were 100% unimpressed. My aunt had to finally get the ball rolling and start things up. No plan, no real directions given. There was no plan for exiting the ceremony made that night so watching the video back now, the ceremony ends, my husband and I exit and then it's just a hesitant bridal party leaving on their own. Thankfully, we've all done this 100 times already in other weddings and were able to figure it out in the moment, somewhat gracefully. Still, I did not think I was asking too much to have the coordinator do some...coordinating. I had to send my cousin over to the venue on the wedding day to help set up, even though I had paid these other people to do so. I just had a feeling. And good thing, too. As I mentioned, the wedding was in December, and there were a few full sized artificial Christmas trees we had worked into the decor. When my cousin arrived, she was just as horrified as I would have been to find that the "wedding planner" was just going to stand up the tree out of the box, and not reshape the branches or anything like that. As you can imagine, right out of the boxes they had been transported in, the trees looked a little misshapen and strange. Luckily, I had someone there to fix them.

I rented some sheer curtains, pipe and drape at the entrance to the aisle, to close during the ceremony. I also wanted them to be pulled closed between my bridal party entering and my father and I making our entrance after that. Give me a chance to fix my dress, take a moment, etc. In the actual wedding ceremony, she let me know that she would not be closing the curtains I went out and rented in between groups, as I had requested. She said "They are pretty sheer anyway, so it wont make any difference." At that point in the whole experience, I was so over her and these slack off antics, that I shrugged it off and went on with a beautiful ceremony.

There were a few other instances in the reception that were eye roll worthy, but it doesn't make sense to continue to list grievances here. A few different people asked me "Who are those girls sitting over there?", pointing to where the "coordinators" were posted up at a table. Didn't really think much of it until I saw them in the background of some photos and videos just...sitting. I'm sure once the ball is rolling there is not a ton to do, but it was not great optics.

I am a full time designer, I have always been very crafty, and DIY'd things for as long as I can remember. Naturally, all of the centerpieces and things were carefully created by me, wrapped up nicely, and delivered to the venue ahead of the wedding. I sent photos of the tablescapes and they were set up properly when I arrived at the wedding venue that day. The upsetting part about this was how I picked up the pieces the next morning. The carefully packaged items that had been dropped off before, were thoughtlessly crammed into boxes after the reception ended. Bottlebrush trees bent up, crushed, tops folded over, glass votive candle holders broken in the boxes. I was just so glad that this was all over and I got by with it only being as bad as it was! If I had it to do over again, I would pay a little more for a more qualified coordinator and would certainly go with my first choice for the invites! I guess you "get what you pay for" but these services were not exactly cheap. I see Yellow Rose hosting wedding planning events in town now and maybe that is a better fit for her. Maybe she is better at managing other vendors instead of taking care of things herself, but I hope for the best for you if you decide to go this route.
