I am so glad we hired Agnes Devereux to cater our wedding. She and her team made delicious family-style meals (and three wedding cakes with different flavors) for our 100 guests, and many of them still rave about the food! For me, the most important parts of a wedding are the food and the music—both set the tone and satiate guests in more ways than one, so it was really important to find a great chef. When we went to her charming farmhouse for the tasting several months in advance, we were thrilled to sample delicious offerings and put together a balanced menu. I spent six months dreaming about the pinot noir braised brisket afterward, and couldn't wait to have it again on our wedding day. And not only is Agnes a great chef, but she is also a delightfully warm, funny, and detail-oriented person. She was communicative and organized throughout the process, a dream to worth with. We highly recommend her! -

Hiring Agnes and her team to cater our wedding in May 2025 was the best decision we made! 10/10 recommend! She is well-experienced professional, cooks and bakes delicious food, and has a warm, kind presence. We knew we wanted to hire a caterer who gave the right "vibe" - not pushy, but knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, understanding and reliable AND sourced local ingredients. She was all of that and so much more.
We also appreciated how transparent Agnes was with cost. It wasn't a one-size-fits-all, but instead we could weight different options and pick and choose the things that were important to us. She helped us make decisions for rentals, all the while being considerate of our budget.
Our guests still talk about the food at the wedding..."those deviled eggs!" "the short ribs were sooo tender" "the roast beef crustinis!" and on and on. The food was incredible and her staff was so sweet, kind, and super on top of it throughout, we didn't have to worry about a thing. Hire Agnes Devereux Catering, you won't regret it! -

If Agnes has your date open, you should put a deposit down ASAP - she absolutely lives up to her reputation as the best in the Hudson Valley (and beyond).
After our tasting there was no question about who we would go with, everything was excellent and we had a really hard time choosing between the options! Quality did not disappoint at scale on the day either: all of our guests, including my parents' most discerning friends, said it was the best food they had ever had at an event.
There are many things to stress over when planning a wedding, but I never stressed once about the quality of our dining experience. Agnes is so organized, has stellar advice, and gracefully guided us through decisions we didn't have experience with while still making sure all choices were ours.
I would recommend Agnes Devereux Catering to anyone! -

Agnes is truly the best in the business. She was incredibly patient with us when we were at our most stressed in the planning process. Agnes is knowledgeable about the industry—she knows what does and doesn't work for every event. She was super helpful in recommending other local vendors. She really goes above and beyond what you'd expect a caterer to do. She thinks of everything! She saved us time and money when we were deciding on rentals for our barn wedding. All of our wedding guests were blown away by the service and food. Months later, our families are still raving about the short ribs and the fagioli ala toscani side dish. -

Book. With. Agnes. Do it now!! Agnes and her team catered our wedding for 155 guests - family style, in Sept 2024. I have a vivid memory of looking across the table and seeing my friend SLURP the short rib broth from the bowl towards the end of the meal bc it was THAT GOOD. People came up to us from the very start of the day - passed hors d'oeuvres - to the dinner/dessert - to the late night snacks - raving about the food. AT. A. WEDDING.
Agnes was such a pleasure to work with - she invited us to her home for the menu tasting, helped us order all necessary place settings/kitchen supplies, and provided expert advice and opinion on bar needs.
She is the best! I hope to be able to throw another epic part again so we can work with Agnes and her team.

My husband and I hired Agnes and her team to cater our wedding reception this summer and we are so happy that we did. We wanted a pescaterian/vegetarian meal that was filling, colorful, and easily shared amongst 150 guests family-style, and she both met and exceeded our dreams. One of those dreams included an off-menu poached salmon, and Agnes's was PERFECTLY cooked. Overall, Agnes was super responsive and collaborative and the end result truly hit all the buzz words: local? - yes! seasonal? -you bet! gorgeously plated - of course! Throughout the process, Agnes was nothing but collaborative, responsive, and incredibly professional. The tasting at her charming home was one of the highlights of the planning process! Agnes is not only a superb chef, but a delightful person. Highly recommend! -

Agnes and her team were fantastic, there is a reason she was voted #1 in the Hudson Valley and we could see why! If you are foodies like my partner and I, Agnes is a no-brainer for your event. For our wedding, food was out top priority, and wanted to treat our intimate number of guests to a gourmet dining experience. We were connected to Agnes and when we realized she would be available, she helped us design the most perfect tented wedding at our family farm in upstate NY!
The food served at our cocktail hour grazing table and the family style dinner was outstanding, and so many of our guests were saying it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding. We decided to go with beet and goat cheese salad, braised beef short ribs, sticky Malaysian chicken, mashed potatoes, summer squash medley, ciabatta rolls, and a really delicious carrot cake for dessert. She was accommodating to my nut allergy and offered vegetarian and vegan options to guests who needed. The tasting was one of the highlights of wedding planning, and honestly everything was so good it was hard to decide, but you can’t go wrong as her menu is seasonal and farm to table, local food!
Not only was Agnes wonderful with the catering aspect, but she is a wealth of resources for any wedding or event planning in the area. My partner and I are not based out of upstate NY, so it was invaluable having Agnes be able to connect us with trustworthy and professional wedding vendors. She recommended a great rental company for the tent, table setting and decor, and came in person to help us plan the cocktail hour and reception. She was always communicative and available via phone and email for any questions we had. she connected us with a fantastic wedding planner and was there every step of the way, making sure to coordinate with the rental company to ensure we had everything we needed, even things we had no idea we needed to think about. Working with her is having peace of mind knowing the cocktail hour and reception of your wedding will go seamlessly! Thank you Agnes for making our wedding a dream! -

Agnes Devereux and her wonderful staff executed an amazing dinner service for our October wedding, exceeding our wishes every step of the way. The family-style plating was so beautiful and everything tasted so delicious... I'm still dreaming of the Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake! We're so glad we found Agnes, she was so great to work with, and we received so many compliments from guests about the food (especially the outstanding Apple Parsnip soup course!) and the service. Agnes catered my wedding this October and my Husband and I couldn't be more grateful for her amazing food and service. Agnes had invited us over a year ago for a tasting in her home and we were blown away by the taste and quality of her food. Not to mention her wonderful personality and hosting skills.
One of our goals was to have a wedding with memorable food that people enjoyed, Agnes and her team brought that to life. She was accommodating for all dietary needs and everyone loved their meal. Agnes is communicative and professional, so as the bride and wedding planner, I was grateful for her consistency. Whatever your event may be, if quality food is what you want, Agnes and her team have the answer.

The best there is!!!
Before hiring Agnes for my wedding, I actually worked for her as a server on and off for a number of years. Not only was she always an amazing person to work for, but an absolute legend of a caterer. I always knew that there wasn’t anyone else I’d want to cater my own wedding. The guests raved all night and continue to reach out to gush about how delicious the food was as well as the presentation. The servers were on top of things all night. Agnes is the very best and I’m so very grateful that we hired her for our wedding. I just wish I could transport back to that night and enjoy the food all over again. It was truly magic! -

Agnes used to own the Village Tea Room in New Paltz so I was familiar with her food. We contacted her for a tasting and we were one and done. Didn't need to look anywhere else. The hardest part was deciding which entrees to include since they all looked so good! We chose her Sour Cherry Beef Brisket and the Apple Cider Pork Shoulder. Everyone raved over it. Our two sides were the mashed potatoes and the English Peas...I had people tell me how much they hated peas but they ate all of hers! The charcuterie spread for the cocktail hour was so good, the bride was lucky to get a single bite thanks to her sister. The best thing was everything is sourced locally so we could show off our lovely area to our guests who had come from out of state. Agnes is also famous for her Bee Cake but she does others wonderfully as well. We went with 3 small cakes: The Bee Cake, a lemon curd cake and Japanese style Strawberry Short Cake (bride's request which was spot-on). Service was excellent. Everyone was so kind. I'd give 10 stars if possible. -

The caterer of our dreams!
Agnes was everything we could have dreamed of in a caterer. Ahead of the wedding, she was a warm, kind, calming presence. The tasting we did with her, in her beautiful home kitchen, was a truly special experience. All of her food is delicious, and she's incredibly talented at executing at scale. Our nearly 200-person wedding went off without a hitch. She was flexible and managed to hold the entrees until later than anticipated when our cocktail hour ran long. And all of our guests loved the food! My biggest regret of my wedding day was that I didn't get time to try all of the beautiful desserts she'd made. I really can't recommend her enough!

Agnes is an incredible caterer. We are so lucky to have had her and her wonderful staff as part of our wedding. From the cocktail hour, to dinner and dessert, everything ran so smoothly! Agnes and her staff took care of everyone so well, and made sure that we all had exactly what we needed, when we needed it. Her food was some of the most delicious we’ve ever tasted, and our guests felt the same way! Our honeybee cake was incredibly adorable and special, and somehow managed to taste even better than it looked. We could not recommend Agnes highly enough for your wedding or event! -

Agnes' is absolutely delicious. Every person at my wedding went crazy over absolutely everything we had from the appetizers to dessert. Agnes helped organize all of the rentals for us and thank goodness she did, she thought of every single thing. She and her team helped us set up and break down our event. Her staff were all so kind and attentive. I didn't get a chance to try our wedding cake the night of so they wrapped me up a piece to take home!! Perfection from start to finish. -

We had a very delightful, intimate wedding in the Catskills. We are both vegetarian and wanted to continue the theme for our wedding weekend. Agnes offered so many great options for vegetarian courses. At a private tasting at her farmhouse kitchen, we had difficulty narrowing down the choices - everything was so good. Agnes and her team went above and beyond providing bites for the cocktail hour and also the cake (we chose the honeybee cake - highly recommended!). The meal itself was delicious and service all around was excellent. They packed some of the leftovers too! A very memorable experience. -

From the very start, Agnes was an absolute pleasure to work with. Her food is delicious, her baking is exceptional, and her staff is unflappable. Everything from the tasting, to the menu selection, to the day of management and service was perfect. Agnes and her staff are absolute professionals -- they even handled the set up of the tent sidewalls when things got a little windy. It was delightful having Agnes and her team there with us on the day of, as they added to the intimate and celebratory atmosphere of the day perfectly! 10/10 would recommend! -

It was such a pleasure working with Agnes for our June 2019 wedding at Mohonk Preserve. Knowing she'd done a lot of weddings up there before gave us confidence she could pull off a smooth affair at that remote spot - and she did! Her food is truly remarkable - local, seasonal, delicious and beautiful to look at, too. Our wedding cake was amazing (pro tip: get the chocolate chubby cookies too, OMG). Her servers were professional and her captain Cathy was calm, cool, and graceful under pressure. Agnes was responsive to our emails and always provided clear communication. She's the real deal and we couldn't recommend her more. -

She was incredibly responsive and accommodating. When we met her at the restaurant to try the food, it was love at first bite; everything was incredible and she provided her insight as we built the menu. Throughout the process, she was supportive and communicated with us every step of the way. When the big day came, her staff worked closely with us and the reception flowed beautifully; her banquet manager and staff were wonderful and the food looked as amazing as it tasted. Our guests loved the Potato Toussaint tart that was served as one of the entrée options and for our cake, we had a carrot cake that was so beautifully displayed and one of the best cakes we've ever had! Working with the Village Tea Room and Agnes was a great experience; if you chose them to cater your wedding, you will definitely be in great hands!

We are so happy that we chose Agnes and her team to cater our wedding at the Mohonk Preserve this past September. Agnes was exactly the kind of caterer I needed: she listened, guided, suggested and was receptive to my ideas and questions and in the end, helped us achieve a wedding beyond my dreams. From the first time I spoke with her, I felt like I was in the hands of someone who simply and genuinely cared about us. We knew from her reputation that the food would taste and look amazing. But what we experienced was so much more than that. Every platter and course was impeccably arranged, presented and prepared as though there was a kitchen staff of a hundred on site. The wedding staff managed by Cathy was so well coordinated, pleasant and efficient...I didn't have to do a thing, but enjoy myself. Cathy and Mary Ann have that gift of getting things done in a low-key, serene way with smiles on their faces. I can't thank these ladies enough for making it easier for me to relax and enjoy my wedding day. As for Agnes, don't let her modesty and unassuming demeanor fool you....she can make an event for 30 or 300 the most magnificent event you've ever hosted! Our family and friends are still talking about the delicious family style entrees and the make-you-drool cakes. We couldn't pick just one so we had three cakes....and all of them were just ridiculously beautiful and yummy. Our experience with The Village TeaRoom was so exceptional that I feel bad for anyone who misses out on the opportunity to work with Agnes!

We got married at Blooming Hill Farm (check it out, amazing) and wanted a cake to match the rustic theme. We found the honeybee cake and went to visit the restaurant to try it. It is absolutely delicious and different and beautiful. We heard over and over again that this was the best wedding cake they had ever had. The best part is that since it's baked daily, we can go visit and enjoy our wedding cake whenever we want.

Lindsay Sent on 02/01/2014The Village TeaRoom did an absolutely wonderful job catering my wedding reception at the Mohonk Preserve in June '12. Planning a wedding in another state can be tough, but Agnes, the chef/owner, was able to work with me long-distance to develop a menu that was simply perfect for our outdoor, afternoon wedding. My husband and I are food-lovers, so we wanted the meal to be memorable—not your run-of-the-mill "chicken or fish" deal. And it definitely exceeded our expectations—cucumber finger sandwiches and white bean tapas for the cocktail hour; endive salad, salmon, shortribs, and english peas for dinner. Our guests are still raving about it. The TeaRoom also did our wedding cake, their delightful "Honey Bee Cake" made with local honey and apricot preserves. Service was impeccable; they took care of renting all our supplies, setting up, breaking down, etc. The entire event could not have been more flawless. I wholeheartedly recommend the TeaRoom, not just for the delicious food, but for the full-service, dedicated team, and the wonderful overall experience. -

Delicious food — got tons of compliments
Agnes catered my and my husband's wedding last Memorial Day weekend. The food was great; several guests told us that it was the best wedding food they'd had. We chose the chicken with leek sauce and the chickpea stew as our joint entrees, which were a very good pairing. (The stew is vegan and gluten free, and the guests loved it.) The meal was served family-style, and it took a while for some tables to get their entrees, but maybe that's to be expected during a larger wedding. For dessert, we had the honey cake and the chocolate/raspberry cake, which were particularly spectacular: beautiful and moist, with divine flavor combinations.
Agnes is kind, patient, responsive and professional. Her cooking feels much more personal and passionate than that of a large catering company or restaurant. Going to her beautiful home for the tasting was truly a treat. I highly recommend her! -
