From the very beginning of the planning process to the rehearsal and the wedding day itself, everything was completely seamless. The staff went above and beyond, not just for us as the bride and groom, but for every single one of our guests. Everyone was treated with such care and attention, and the team’s eye for detail truly made all the difference.
We were able to be fully present and enjoy every moment without worrying about a thing, which is such a gift on your wedding day. And the venue itself is beyond stunning, elegant, grand, and somehow still intimate. It truly felt like we were in our own little world, even right in the heart of downtown Hartford. We cannot recommend The Society Room enough!The Society Room of Hartford's reply:

What amazing wedding venue! We held our daughter’s wedding and reception here on January 3, 2026 and everything was incredible. From the 1st day we walked in for our tour, we were impressed,
First, the place is gorgeous. It’s a very old building (previous bank) with all the special details of a painted ceiling, dark wood, marble, arches and even a vault. It was the perfect location for my daughter’s vision of classy old Hollywood. And the bridal suite was newly renovated. It was gorgeous.
Our contacts, Linda and Rachel, were responsive with answers to all our questions throughout the year. The planned meetings and information forms which we had to complete kept us on the same page.
Don’t eat for 24 hours before your tasting meal. When you must choose 8 passed appetizers, an appetizer station, 1st course, salad and 4 entrees, you must also try all the other options.
Our set up and wedding day master was Jake. He took our vision and brought it to life with his hard-working team. They assigned Jania to be there for anything my daughter and son-in-law needed. The head bar tender, Heidi learned the drinks of our guests and quickly served everyone with a smile.
The Hot-Cider and Hot Cocoa before the service were delicious and warmed our guests on a cold January day! The Arancini table was a “big hit” along with the hand-passed appetizers. The Speakeasy window along with the Pretzel bar, the Cappuccino/Espresso bar all got rave reviews from our family and friends! Then we get to the dinner service and everything continued to be perfect. The service was attentive but remained in the background for any needs like more wine, water refills, clear empty plates, etc. We did not have to ask for anything; it was just there when it needed to be. The food was also incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. We had a couple of attendees with allergies or special requirements, and these were also perfectly executed with no issue.
Every detail was meticulously executed by the staff. I cannot explain enough how great the Society Room made her wedding day one that all of us will NEVER FORGET!
We only have one daughter but if I ever need to have another large special event in Hartford, I will call the Society Room to book it!

We had a wedding in late August 2025. Everything went flawless and so smoothly! The staff handled our entire event professionally and all of our guests could not be happier! The ambiance of the ballroom was classy and timeless. Food and drink were spectacular and we couldn’t ask for more!Highly recommended!!!!

The Society Room of Hartford made our wedding day on August 9, 2025, an unforgettable masterpiece that exceeded every expectation. From start to finish, Linda, Judi, and the entire staff treated us like family, pouring their hearts into bringing our unique vision to life. It truly felt like we were the only wedding they were hosting that summer, with their unparalleled attention to detail and genuine care.
The venue itself is a breathtaking blend of old-world charm and modern elegance. The original mahogany detailing, hand-painted ceilings, marble pillars, and even the historic bank vault transported our guests to another era—exactly the vibe we wanted for our 1920s-inspired, nontraditional celebration. As our second wedding, we aimed for a relaxed, luxurious supper club atmosphere, and The Society Room delivered beyond our wildest dreams. We brought in vintage furniture—couches, coffee tables, lounge chairs—and created multiple vignettes across the floor, with formal tables at the back but no assigned seating. The result was like stepping into a grand 1920s mansion, and the venue’s timeless architecture elevated every moment.
The food was nothing short of extraordinary. Our guests are still raving, calling it some of the best they’ve ever had at a wedding. We opted for specialty chef-manned stations, allowing everyone to graze at their leisure and sample a smorgasbord of culinary delights. The Society Room executed our specific presentation requests flawlessly, ensuring every dish was as beautiful as it was delicious. They also went above and beyond to accommodate our special requests, including assigning dedicated staff to assist our elderly parents, which meant the world to us.
Walking through the massive front doors felt like entering another time—an escape from reality into a party like no other. The mezzanine-hosted club DJ kept the dance floor alive, surrounded by stunning florals and lush garden landscapes that complemented our lounge vignettes. The atmosphere was electric, luxurious, and utterly unique, leaving our guests feeling like they’d attended the party of a lifetime.
The Society Room didn’t just meet our expectations—they delivered on a promise of a night unlike any other. If you’re looking for a venue that combines historic charm, modern amenities, and a team that genuinely cares about making your vision a reality, look no further. We can’t recommend The Society Room of Hartford enough for creating a wedding day that will live in our hearts forever.

I had my wedding here last week. Holy crap, they knocked it out of the park. Several people said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to. They said the food was so good they’d come back if it were a restaurant. The cake was also outstanding and so delicious (shout out to Paula!). More than all of that, Jonna the bridal attendant took care of me and my husband so well that we hardly had to worry about anything. We got to eat everything because she set it aside for us and we set aside time for a calm moment. She made sure we got to take the cake home. She was an excellent communicator, made sure everyone was where they needed to be and she was somehow always there when we needed her. It was like she was everywhere all at once! I thought I was going to need to corral people to help me take stuff home that night. Nope! She knew who my immediate family was and had them grab a few things. She made it all low stress. Linda was amazing in the planning process. She was communicative and diligent on following up on our loose ends. I always felt like she was there if I needed her. Chris was our salesperson and did a wonderful job. He went above and beyond and met us right before (or after) closing because it was the only time that worked for us. He made us so excited to book the place and the team truly delivered!! I wish I could get married AGAIN and I’d do it here! ❤️

We got married there this past Friday 10/11/2024 everything was amazing! Linda was amazing throughout our whole wedding planning process, our wedding coordinators made sure everything ran smoothly the day of, and our wedding attendant day of was amazing! We had so many guests tell us it was the best meals they’ve ever had at a wedding. Our cake by Donna was beautiful and delicious! We are truly so thankful for all of the staff at the society room you guys made our wedding day more magical than I ever could have imagined. -

The Society Room provided us with the wedding of our dreams. From the moment we walked in and met with Jim to tour the venue we instantly knew this was our venue. Jim was so nice and down to earth. One of the things we loved is there was no hidden fees or complicated math that needed to be done. It was a per person fee and then items you could add on if you wanted to! Linda was a pleasure to work with during the entire process. She was very helpful and always quick to respond. My husband and I were able to enjoy every moment of our special day and not worry about a single thing! The level of detail the collect is outstanding and they make it so easy for you! Judi is a miracle worker and makes sure your wedding goes off without a hitch. Rehearsal was quick and easy and the bridal party understood the process. Jonna will be your new best friend for the night. She is so kind and helpful. She checks on you often to see if you need a drink. She even brought us water while we were outside taking photos! The food is absolutely amazing!! Our guests are still talking about all the appetizers and the entrees. The champagne is out of this world! We added on the champagne tower and it was a great touch to cocktail hour. We used their table numbers and floating candle centerpieces, they were beautiful! They pack everything up for you at the end of the night and all you need to do is load it in your car! My husband and I can confidently say not a single thing went wrong at our wedding and there is nothing we would have done differently. The bridal suite is gorgeous!! And the grooms cottage is very cool. I can’t say enough good things about The Society Room. Thank you for giving us the wedding of our dreams and a night our guests and us will never forget. -

Absolutely superb, from top to bottom, wedding venue. We had a March wedding at the Society Room, including an on-site ceremony. The venue itself is gorgeous, so unique, and the team does a fantastic job of utilizing all of its assets for a truly special event. The food and drink is unmatched; our guests are still telling us, a month later, how blown away they were by the cocktail hour and dinner. We had an excellent experience with all planning and execution staff; every person we came into contact with was knowledgeable, attentive, creative, flexible, and truly invested in our needs. We chose not to hire a separate wedding planner or day-of-coordinator, and because of the excellence of the planning staff and day-of-attendants, we had no regrets about this choice. There is a day-of-attendant assigned to the couple, and the planning staff communicate directly with all of your vendors (florist, officiant, band, etc.) in the immediate weeks leading up, which was enormously helpful. The ability to save money by not hiring a planner was a huge asset to choosing this venue. There is ample parking directly beside the venue and several hotels within blocks of the venue, which accommodated out-of-town guests very easily. Look no further than the Society Room for a fabulous downtown Hartford wedding. -

We are so happy with our experience at the Society Room! The space is so unique and was particularly warm and stunning for a winter wedding. The staff is very professional and incredibly organized. I felt confident leading into the evening that everything was going to run smoothly. On the day of the wedding I was really able to enjoy and not focus on the details because I knew they were taken care of. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. A real show stopper! -

The BEST venue ever!!
The best wedding venue ever!! We looked at a couple venues but as soon as we walked in and I saw the staircase and complete atmosphere of the venue, I knew we found the one! Everyone you work with is super helpful, they want your day to go as smooth as you do and they do all they can to make that happen. The day of bridal attendant was AMAZING. All our guests raved about the venue and food and continue to even after the wedding. HIGHLY recommend! -

My husband and I got married at The Society Room in July of 2023 and we had an incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment I saw pictures online I knew this was the place I wanted to get married. Our wedding sales manager Chris Burns was excellent to work with, he was quick to respond to all my questions and helped us to plan all the little details of our evening. Everything we ate at Society Room was superb, our guests raved about their meals and the endless supply of appetizers that were provided, we especially recommend the Mac & Cheese bar, it was a hit! Society room wedding packages give you the most bang for your buck, there are not many venues of this class that offer so much in their package. The service during the reception is unparalleled from anything I have experienced as a guest at other venues. They start dinner service quickly after everyone is seated, we had 250 guests and everyone’s food was hot and we had no complaints about meal mix ups. I was impressed how quickly they got everyone served so we could start the dance party! Our personal wedding attendant from July 3, 2023 deserves a raise, I forgot her name but she made sure there was a drink in my hand all night and we received our own app sampler plate so we could relax for a minute after our ceremony! She also seamlessly handled all the bridal suite entry requests all night! Society Room includes your cake as well, we chose Creative Cakes by Donna for our cake, it was beautifully delicious strawberry shortcake- highly recommend! From the moment we walked into the ballroom, we knew we wanted to have our big day take place at the Society Room. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, between the ballroom, the bridal suite and groomsmen cottage, and of course the vault. The detail in all of the rooms is amazing and makes for an incredible atmosphere for a wedding.
The staff was also incredible to work with. They were very organized, and the whole process was a pleasure from start to finish. The planning phase was smooth, with all of our questions answered quickly along the way. The food was great, and they had plenty of options during the tasting that we could choose from for our wedding day.
When the day was finally here, we couldn’t have asked for a better operations team to make sure everything went smoothly. With so many details to worry about, it was great to be able to be confident in the team handling those details for us, so that we only had to get there and do our best to hold in our happy tears. All of our guests were blown away by the venue, and we would absolutely recommend the Society Room for any couples looking to have a wedding in Connecticut! -

I cannot express enough how happy I was with the society room! the staff was amazing! The day of our wedding went so smooth and everyone was very accommodating! For a couple who does not do well planning out every detail and thinking of the little things Society Room was the perfect option for us! They asked the questions we didnt even think to have the answers to, so that the day of the wedding everything was taken care of. Funny Testimony to their excellence: The morning we were getting married the event manager came to me and said that my groom thought we had forgot the flash drive... but I knew we didn't bc I taped it to the seating chart frame and put it in his car myself before I left the previous day... I politely explained to the event manager that my future husband better find the one and only responsibility he had which was just bringing in the items I made and loaded for him ... shortly after our chat the event manager reappeared with my husband's car keys and the flash drive. It must have fallen off when they were taking it out of the car and it was under a seat. The event manager did not have to go search Daniel's car but WOW what an above and beyond sentiment to reassure me that he had today handled even if me and the groom were hot messes!! -

I had the pleasure of getting married at the society room this past December. Everything went better then I could've ever imagined. The food was delicious, we still have guest three months later talking about the food at our wedding. The society room provided us with service that was above and beyond what we could've ever expected. They were extremely helpful with rescheduling our wedding 2x because of Covid as well as with putting out all the decorations and small details my mom and I had made. This venue was absolutely majestic and exceeded all our expectations. The ornate design and decorations provided beautiful backdrops to every event throughout our wedding. We took our “first look” pictures in front of the grand wooden door. We read our vows underneath the towering curved window draped with an almost tapestry-like set of maroon curtains. The ceiling fixtures bathed the ballroom with a glowing warmth that set the tone for the whole evening. Our guests gazed upon the artful designs adorning the ceilings, not to mention the colossal marble pillars reaching up to them. The bank vault made for such a unique and picturesque scene like something straight out of a movie. In addition, the tables, seating, dishware, and silverware blended so well into the overall aesthetic.
A beautiful venue is nothing without proper planning and coordination, and we have to say the Society Room exceeded in these regards, as well. From the moment we met with Jim and Melissa expressing our initial interest in this venue, we were met with helpful, responsive correspondence to all our questions, concerns, and requests. In the midst of a pandemic and the uncertainty it posed, we felt much more secure in our planning by having a team we could easily communicate with. In terms of service, the Society Room was unparalleled.
As for the food, the venue delivered a delectable assortment of dishes. The hors d'oeuvres were tasty and flowed endlessly throughout cocktail hour from the refreshing shrimp cocktail to the zesty mini buffalo empanadas. The entrées led to many clean plates, with the braised short rib & mashed potatoes easily becoming a fan favorite. The staff were extremely accommodating to all food allergies and dietary restrictions. They worked with us closely during prior planning, as well as the day of the event, making sure to double-check with each guest before serving their plate.

Out of all of the places we spoke to, they were the most accommodating and with a very great value. They literally handheld us through every step and made us feel welcomed. The staff gave amazing service in planning and the day of our wedding. Even with delays they delivered. Our guests loved the location, food and ambience. The photo vault was a hit!!! They have unique touches not many places have. I would have another event here just because!!! -

The. Best. Ever.
What can I even say about this place other than the people, the venue, the FOOD - everything was truly and unimaginably spectacular!!!! We had originally booked our December 2020 wedding at the Riverhouse but CT shut down all venues for the rest of the year. We were offered true flexibility, kindness, and solidarity throughout a very tumultuous time. When it was time to rebook, Riverhouse didn't have any Saturdays available so we asked if we could check out availability for The Society Room. We had went to see that venue first and it was my (now) husband's favorite. They said yes without hesitation and seamlessly moved our entire event over to the Society Room.
We got married there on 7/10/2021 and I am STILL receiving compliments daily about how unique the venue was, how delicious the food and drinks were, how fun the entire celebration was - we got our dream wedding after all, I had been wanting to cancel this thing since we got postponed. I would never gotten the chance to see how amazing Melissa, Desmond, Jim and the entire Society Room crew were.
I cannot thank them enough, our wedding was perfect TRULY. I wish I could relive that day a million times. No one can match the attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the Society Room and Riverhouse. You guys are wonderful and I can't thank you enough!!! -

The Society Room staff went above and beyond to give me peace of mind during Covid. Wedding planning is stressful as it is but then with the pandemic it was a even more stressful. The staff and especially Melissa was super helpful in answering my frantic emails about everything from the newest ordinances to her thoughts on decor in various parts of the hall. The quality of food, drinks, service, and our bridal attendant the day of were top notch. They made sure we ate and got a chance to soak it all in which is so important on your wedding day. Thank you Society Room for making my wedding day dreams come true it was simply breath taking and I always will have such fond memories due to the amazing venue and staff. -

I just want to say how accommodating, professional, and friendly the Society Room was to me and my wife! We had picked this venue back in November of 2018 for a June 2020 wedding. When COVID-19 hit, they were very understanding and gave us several dates to choose from for a new date, all without losing any of our security deposit or payments made up to then. When we finally had our wedding in June of 2021, the planning and preparedness of the staff was top-notch. Even the tastings were well organized! Being an engineer by trade myself, I can really appreciate a well-run organization and the Society Room is definitely a well-oiled machine! We had a prohibition-style/speakeasy theme for our wedding reception and the Society Room staff played their part with the details and decorations that I didn't even think of such as the set-up for the harvest table and the wedding favors! A BIG shoutout to both Melissa and Desmond and his staff! We were looking for something that was all-inclusive with regards to ceremony, reception and catering and the Society Room hit it out the park on all levels! Our wedding guests are STILL talking about how much they enjoyed themselves at our wedding! Thank you so much for making wedding day so special! -

Have nothing, but good things to say about the SR. The staff is professional, hardworking, and so friendly. The night was so easy for us because of the staff. Shout out to Janna who was with. my husband and me, making sure we always had a drink and whatever we needed. Not to mention it is truly the most beautiful, one of a kind venue. 10000% recommend!!! -

Society Room was the first venue that my wife and I looked at and we booked it right after our tour. Jim Bucko gave us a great tour and Melissa is a pleasure to work with. She answered all our questions. They worked great together and was very accommodating to our requests. Society Room is very organized and the results speak for themselves. Our guests were all taken care of by the staff and the food was hot. Great venue to take pictures as well. -

This was my dream venue before I even knew it existed!! From the very moment we started our tour to the very last second of our reception everyone at the Society Room was amazing! The service was impeccable and the food was delicious! -

My husband and I ADORED this venue for our wedding. We actually booked it before we even got engaged!! (Long story haha) It was like love at first sight, literally. I got married in July and felt like complete royalty. They are so accommodating. They even gave me a bridal attendant for the whole day who made sure I ate, had water and wine, took pictures with guests, and communicated with my vendors. Her entire job was to make sure I don't get stressed which is perfect because I'm a pretty anxious person! The venue has multiple beautiful rooms so we had our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and wedding photos all at the same place! Everyone from the sales team, event planner, operations team, food service, was PERFECT. The food was delicious, they even include the bakeries for the wedding cake that you can design! They also let me rent items for my centerpieces at a very inexpensive price. If you are looking for an all inclusive venue where all you have to do is show up, this is the place. -

There is nothing not to love about The Society Room! The space is stunning, food was delicious (our guests are still complimenting it), and the service is top notch. You also can't beat the location - an affordable hotel directly across the street and it is surrounded by restaurants and bars, which allow many options for your rehearsal dinners and/or after party. I wouldn't change a thing! -

I honestly don't know where to start except to say that everything went absolutely perfectly from planning the wedding to the actual wedding night.
We worked with Melissa at the Society Room who was such a pleasure to work with. She was accommodating, supportive, responsive, detail oriented and always professional.
The Venue speaks for itself, it has a TON of character that made our wedding a little more unique than some of the other traditional indoor venues. We had a large wedding and utilized the top and bottom levels for our reception. At first I was a little worried about this, but it was SO awesome. After dinner, everyone who was upstairs came down to dance.
The food was delicious, from cocktail hour to dinner everything was executed perfectly. I also really loved the way they invited 50 couples to an event to sample and select food choices in advance of the meeting.
Service the night of the wedding was also incredible. I received really positive feedback from all the guests, and my husband and I couldn't have been happier.
Price was really reasonable considering the quality of food, service, environment.
Overall, I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone planning their wedding. There wasn't one thing that went wrong and we had an amazing experience working with Melissa and the rest of the team at the Society Room. I am so thankful we chose it for our day. -

We had a wonderful experience, the Society Room is just beautiful the staff is so accommodating, and did everything to our specifications. The service is great and they are very into catering to their guests with dietary needs also, the food was like a meal at a 5 star restaurant, our guests are still talking about the reception my daughter's wedding was July 20,2019, and if we had to do it all over we wouldn't have it any other place! -

The Society Room of Hartford really made our dreams come true! First off, the venue is gorgeous; from the impressive ceilings and fixtures to the hidden vault, this place is stunning. Perhaps more importantly, the staff is phenomenal and easy to work with. Any time we called, they were always available to answer our questions and provide suggestions to make our day run as smoothly as possible. For example, we were unable to make the date of the tasting, but they provided us with a private tasting session at our convenience.
On the night of, the coordinators kept us on schedule and well fed (and the food was delicious!) all night long.
Since the wedding, we have had rave reviews about how amazing the venue was from our guests, and how they had never been to anything like it. Overall, I can't recommend The Society Room highly enough! -

The society room of Hartford was absolutely amazing. From the beginning Traci was always available when we needed her. She was very thorough and made sure we would have everything we wanted and needed day of and also touched base with the other vendors. The coordinators Cecilia and Desmond were amazing. They made sure everything ran smoothly. We also had a bridal attendant named johnna who was the sweetest most awesome person. She was there whenever We needed something as well. The bridal suite and grooms cottage were comfortable. They always made sure we had refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. During our plated dinner the food came out hot. All of our guests said everything was beautiful and the food was awesome. The waitstaff made sure our guest were comfortable. Only complaint is they don’t serve shots and they don’t offer vendors the hors d’oeuvres. Other than that the society room treated us like royalty and we didn’t have to lift a finger or worry about a thing. So grateful and happy for the experience we had. -

I'm so glad we chose the Society Room! We received so many compliments about how gorgeous and unique the actual venue was and on the food! I was nervous about planning a wedding from out of state but there was no need! Melissa, Desmond, and Jonna were all extremely professional and helpful. Melissa was the coordinator before the big day and answered any and all of our questions which was fantastic! Desmond and Jonna were there for us on THE DAY and were everywhere! They worked very hard to make sure we had fun and we did!! So thanks! They also gave us pointers on what to expect and I especially appreciated Desmond's advice of not to look at the officiant during the ceremony! Our pictures of the ceremony look awesome because we were staring at each other not the officiant!! Jonna made sure I had everything I needed! We had last minute changes to things at the final meeting and Melissa and team were extremely accommodating! Overall it was the little things they did or helped with that really made our day! What a great professional team! Well done! -

I knew I wanted to get married at The Society Room before I was even engaged. The charm of the building and romantic feel was exactly everything I had dreamed of. It’s such a beautiful, hidden gem right downtown. When I got engaged last year, we booked that as our first place to tour venues. After that, no other venues we saw compared, so we chose to get married there January 5, 2019. Not only was the architecture gorgeous, but the service was top notch. Melissa did an amazing job of guiding us through the wedding-planning-process and helping us with every little question we had. With a 210-person wedding we needed all the help we could get. One of the best parts of the planning process was the grand tasting event 8 months before our wedding where they let you try EVERYTHING on the menu before you choose your own menu-even down to the wines you wanted to serve. We loved that. Our guests RAVED about the food the day of the wedding, and after, saying they had so many different and fun food options. On the day of the wedding, Cecelia and Desmond (the director of operations) took over and everything was flawless. All the decorations were put in place perfectly and anything we needed, we got with no questions asked. At one point, I even asked for pliers because my bustle wasn’t staying together and they had those, and a needle and thread ready just in case. It really felt like we were royalty for a day! Guests have been saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to (I might be partial) but I agree! I hope I’m able to return as a guest again some day.The Society Room of Hartford's reply:

Everything about The Society Room was perfect for our wedding! We knew on the first meeting with Melissa that this is the place we wanted to get married. We were planning a wedding from out of state, and Melissa and everyone at The Society Room made the process so incredibly easy. They were more than flexible with our schedules and last minute changes to meeting times. The planning process was seamless, they even helped me shape my vision for the wedding day when I wasn't able to make decisions. I had some last minute allergies come up the day before the wedding and without hesitation they were able to change those meals for my guests. The wedding day was perfect. My husband and I each had an attendant who always made sure we had a drink if we wanted it and reminded us to eat. My guests had an incredible time and can't stop talking about how AMAZING the food is! If you're looking for a venue that will take away the stress of wedding planning and has superb service and amazing food with an incredible ambience, The Society Room is for you! -

Staff leading up to the reception, especially Melissa (our coordinator) and my bridal attendant, who’s name was also Melissa, were amazing. Food was wonderful and they accommodated a few “picky” guests very easily. Having the cocktail hour upstairs overlooking the reception room was beautiful. Hope we could attend a wedding there at some point!

The whole evening went so perfect and all because the Society Room of Hartford staff was is a well oiled machine! I cannot say enough nice things about Melissa, Celia, and Desmond. They think of everything! Beautiful decor, amazing service, and friendly staff make the Society Room an amazing place to get married! I would highly recommend to anyone planning on having a wedding!
