The River Room was our perfect location for our wedding day. It was an amazing representation of my husband and I - the beautiful exposed brick, the white walls for countless design ideas, lots of natural light from the big windows, the cozy string lights, the river view and even the quaint deck space we used for pictures and cocktail hour. Paige was so charming and nice to work with. All of our guests couldn't stop complimenting the space. Our wedding was 64 people and it wasn't too big or too small. The tables fit perfectly throughout the room even with all of our food stations and DJ. My favorite part of the venue was the bridal suite - big enough for me and 4 of my bridesmaids/man to relax in before the start of the day. We are so happy we chose the River Room - it was the happiest day of our lives. -

The River Room is a gorgeous events space in downtown Wilmington, right on the river in the heart of the action. It's a blank slate and really perfect for couples that want to make a space their own. The venue rental fee is affordable and includes tables & chairs and a few other essential items, plus the outdoor deck can be added on for a nominal fee. We were glad we added it because guests loved hanging out there, and it was the perfect place for the cocktail hour, giving the team time to flip the space between the ceremony and reception. The max is 100 people but it would be tight with 100, you'd have to break down 2 tables in order to make room for dancing. We had 82 people and it was perfect. The team is attentive and easy to work with. Highly recommend for smaller weddings! -

The venue was just perfect. Plenty of space for everyone. Thank you for making sure that my daughters day was special. Beautifully decorated by awesome wedding planners. The water front at this time of the year was just beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to hold our event in your venue. -

Words cannot describe how grateful we are for Brittanie and the River room team. It’s not easy to dream of your wedding day your whole life and put your trust in a stranger to help you made that day everything you’ve ever wanted. The River room team and Brittanie went above and beyond to make this day better than anything I could’ve have dreamed about. Our night went flawlessly and the stress of all the months of planning just rolled right off of us as soon as we arrived to the venue because we knew we were in the best hands. Their constant communication and help was more than I could’ve ever asked for. I am so beyond grateful for the River room team and Brittanie for making our big day so special. If you are looking for a wedding venue I would highly recommend the dreamy River room on the beautiful River front and to hire Brittanie for all of your planning needs. 🥰💕😍 -

The Perfect Venue!
The River Room is such a beautiful venue! It was the very first venue that I was very interested in and once we talked to Brittanie, we decided to choose it for the big day. This venue has so much character! The brick walls are absolutely beautiful and the string lights at the top brought such a beautiful vibe! The view of the river from the windows is also to die for! Since the first moment of contact, they made the venue booking process so easy and effortless! And may I say the pricing is amazing compared to other venues! We were incredibly pleased with this venue! -

I started looking for wedding/reception venues as soon as my now husband and I got engaged. We toured a couple places before finding The River Room, and as soon as I walked through the doors there I knew I had found exactly what we were looking for. The character and charm of the building itself are captivating, but the views of the river are absolutely stunning. We chose to have our cocktail hour and reception at The River Room! The riverfront deck outside made the perfect place to setup our cocktail hour, and allowed our guests to enjoy the beautiful views of the sunset over the river. Not only is it a beautiful venue, but I knew we were in good hands from the start when we first contacted them about setting up a tour. Brittanie promptly responded to every email and made setting up a tour super easy, and kept in touch to answer any questions we had throughout our planning. We could not have chosen a more perfect venue for our big day! -

Everything about The River Room was outstanding! Planning a wedding during a pandemic should have been stressful. However, Brittanie was awesome to work with and VERY accommodating with our ever changing ceremony plans. If you are considering this venue, I would not hesitate to book it. You will NOT be sorry!! -

Best Day Ever
We can’t thank George and the rest of his team at The River Room for the most amazing wedding day!!!! From the moment we saw this venue we knew it was the ONE!!! The views were out of this world. We used the deck for our ceremony and the reception was inside. Take a look at the pictures to see just how beautiful it was!!!! We also loved that it was Downtown Wilmington which gave our guests freedom to explore during their stay as well.
We planned our entire Wedding long distance which I was a little uneasy about at first. George made this extremely easy by giving us a list of preferred vendors. Each vendor we choose was AMAZING. We can’t thank the team at The River Room for their time and effort for making this truly the best day ever for us!!!! I would do it over in minute and wouldn’t change a thing about it. -

We absolutely loved having our wedding and reception at the River room! We ended up being worried about rain the morning of and the staff were completely on top of it and got reception tables rearranged and the ceremony space set up inside for us. It was awesome that we were able to work with all of our favorite vendors cents the river room doesn’t restrict which vendors were allowed to work with. And on top of that, the space is absolutely beautiful. We actually booked before the remodel so we were a little bit nervous about how things it was awesome that we were able to work with all of our favorite vendors sense the river room doesn’t restrict which vendors were allowed to work with. On top of all that, the space is absolutely beautiful both inside and the amazing view! We actually booked before the remodel so we were a little bit nervous about how things would change, but it looked even better on our wedding day than when we booked. Booking/contracts/payment were all east to understand and super accessible and I never had an issue getting my (many) questions answered in the almost 16 months between booking and wedding day. I would recommend the River Room to anyone looking for a wedding ceremony or reception venue (or both)! -

Melissa was my wedding coordinator and they worked well as a team to make my wedding truly unforgettable.

User1915420 Sent on 11/10/2014Melisa is the one who put my mind at ease the day of my wedding. She met with me several times to learn who I was, and what expectations I had for my reception. One evening when my boyfriend and I were walking down town Wilmington, we stopped at a window at the River Room, admiring in awe of the wedding that was taking place. The raw beauty of the building and location captivated me. My first thought was, "We could never afford anywhere like this!". Being the planner I am, my curiosity got the best of me. Weeks later I stopped in at the River Room, which is when I met Melissa. She took the time to discuss vendors and prices with us, and answered any questions we had. We quickly discovered that the River Room was affordable, and would come with an amazing planner. Less than a year later, we were engaged, and the next day we signed with the River Room and Melissa! Upon signing with her, she referred me vendors that were approved for the River Room. We chose our D.J., makeup artist, florist, and caterer, all upon her recommendation. I met with Melissa a few times, and we exchanged emails through out the year as we continued to plan our dream reception. I did not get to see the reception venue decorated before our entrance that evening as the new Mr. and Mrs., but looking back, I'm glad I didn't. It was such a surprise for my husband and I, and exceeded our expectations greater than anything we could have imagined. Any bride would be blessed to have Melissa and Knott Too Shabby Events coordinate their wedding. As hard as it may be ladies, give up the control and allow Melissa to do her thing! I can promise you- you won't regret it! My husband and I frequent the River Room, so reflect on our fairytale wedding where we left the reception on a boat. The River Room will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and we have found a friend for life in Melissa. -

I used the deck space for my beautiful outdoor ceremony and used the indoor area for my intimate wedding reception.The feel of industrial history and new crisp decor is an amazing combination. Add the structure next to an amazing view of the river on one side and the old cobblestone on the other and it is magical (especially at sunset)!! The River Room offers a coordinator for decorating and planning out every detail (a great stress reducer) not to mention an unbeatable price!!!! I used the packaged vendors: Baca Photography and DJ Professionals. I can do nothing but sing the praises of the River Room team: Ray and Melissa especially!!! I Couldn't imagine my special day without them! -

She was so helpful answering all of my questions with quick returned emails, and was efficient helping us with items we left behind when trying to decorate before our event.
We are still getting compliments from our guests about the location. It was spectacular with the sun setting during the rehearsal dinner, and the beautiful brick walls setting off the perfect mood for the evening. We had a wonderful experience!

It's pretty much a "blank slate" because you can literally bring in any tables, chairs, food, decorations etc you want. This is great for the DIY bride! The people who work there are friendly, flexible, and professional. Their hours are weird so it's a little tricky to get in touch with them, but they always returned phone calls and emails during their office hours.
The bridal suite is beautiful and I highly recommend using it if it's in your budget. It allowed me and my bridesmaids a place to take pictures before the ceremony, pop champagne, keep our belongings safe, freshen up, etc.
The River Room CAN hold 120 people but I think it would be really crowded. We invited 120 people and had about 85 attend. I'm SO happy 120 didn't show up. It would have been a really tight squeeze.
Beautiful venue! Great price! Highly recommend! -

This venue was our number one pick because it was where my husband proposed to me. So my heart was set on it! It is the only wedding venue right on the water as well! When I booked here, it had recently been bought by a new owner, with that being said I was sad to find that there was no longer a bridal flat available on the property. Although, months prior to our wedding they did a remodel, which was beautiful! It really opened up the space and added a small room for getting ready.
For the most part communicating with The River Room was great, my emails were always responded to in a timely manner, although I wasn’t always sure who to contact throughout my planning process because the first consultant I met with and started speaking to no longer worked there, then I was speaking with the owner (who I had never met) for a bit, and was then handed off to a different consultant who I had not met with before. Originally we were told that we would be able to set up the night before as long as there was not another event happening, then later when I went to double check on that, we were told we couldn’t come until 10AM day of. No big deal, just conflicting. This was not a real problem, just confusing on our end for my OCD planning mind!
The location itself is amazing, gorgeous view of the river and the battleship, beautiful exposed beams and brick on the inside, it had its own beauty that we chose not to adorn it with much decoration.
I personally felt that we paid more for the space than we could have, but as stated before our hearts were set on it! The venue does not include any extras, just the space, the tables and chairs and lighting and a few other items we did not use like table numbers and candles. The deck right outside where we held our ceremony was also an additional fee from the venue.
On our pricing sheet a bottle of champagne was listed as a gift for bride and groom, we never received one. Oh well!
Everyone who we spoke to affiliated with The River Room was friendly, and they sent us a thank you note and email as well after the event!
Overall, we loved our wedding day, where it was and who it was with. Our family and friends all loved the space and that’s all that matters! -

Gina Sent on 01/26/2016I have to say that this entire experience was almost magical! We did a lot of shopping prior to choosing our wedding venue... cost was a huge factor, as was location. The River Room had both - they were considerably more affordable than most, and the location was beautiful. I would have honestly given them a 5 had I realized we couldn't hold our rehearsal in the venue the night prior. In the contract it states it would be available IF it wasn't booked. I completely overlooked that, but in all honesty, I figured it would be a given considering we would need to rehearse there prior to the wedding because neither my husband nor I had ever been married before. We contacted them and asked if we could hold the rehearsal (after realizing we hadn't even thought about that) and they told us the evening prior had already been booked. We were so disappointed. My husband was upset (and understandably so) because now we couldn't rehearse at the same venue we were getting married at! I think that is a point that should be stressed by The River Room prior to signing any contracts. There we absolutely no way to hold a rehearsal the day of (my husband couldn't see me before our wedding *gasp* and there was a million things to get done before 4pm) so we had to hold our rehearsal dinner in our home (which turned out to be OK). All in all, from start to finish, it was almost perfect. Shannon, the coordinator, was great - she handled all she could behind the scenes, and was great with all of the organization. She even jumped in and helped the ladies get my train all secured so I could dance! We can't thank Shannon enough for her hard work. :) The pictures were great, with the backdrop of the river and the bridge in the background. Don't hesitate... if you're looking for an affordable, beautiful, memorable location for your wedding - The River Room is all of that in one great package.
