Communication with Christa was amazing from the day we first reached out to the end of our wedding night , food was also delicious! The set up of the greenery in the garden was perfect for our day.

My husband and I got married at the Refuge Golf Club 10/11/2024. We could not have picked a better venue for our day! The entire staff is amazing, helpful, and kind. We had the pleasure of working with Lisa who is absolutely amazing, and willing to help whenever we needed her!

Not only did my husband and I have a great night, our guests did too. We can’t thank The Refuge Golf Club enough for making this day something we will never forget!

We loved The Refuge! We worked with Lisa and she was able to help us with anything we needed and answer all our questions in a timely fashion. The process of wedding planning and preparations prior to the wedding day and on the wedding day were so easy! It is a beautiful venue with excellent and attentive staff who strived to make our wedding day perfect for us! Highly recommend!

Lisa was so helpful and made the experience wonderful. From the tour of the venue to the big day, she was there for any questions and to help in any way! The venue catering staff were also amazing. We had so many compliments on the food, and service. It was an easy choice of venue, a great package deal, and honesty on what prices are and creating a unique package specific to your wants and needs for your special day. The Refuge also shares recommendations for other vendors they've worked with in the past, we used a couple of them which made the process so easy. Again, Lisa was amazing along with the catering staff. Can't say enough good things, and wish we could have a replay of our special day!

This is an amazing venue! They worked with us through COVID planning and rescheduling. They were responsive with some last minute changes and throughout the planning process with questions we had. We had the rehearsal dinner at the venue and it went so well. The food was great; the ceremony location was set up in advance. The wedding coordinator is fantastic. She made it so easy for us to just enjoy our big day instead of having to think about or consider little details. The venue has a bridal suite that was available for getting ready in the morning. It was able to comfortably fit 10 of us (including hair stylist and make up artist). The venue is able to rent some decorations, which made it even easier to have the reception hall look stunning. The staff were considerate and friendly. The bar tender was friendly and charismatic. The food was amazing as was the dessert. 10 out of 10 would recommend this venue.

The Refuge Golf Club was a beautiful venue. The staff/coordinator was very helpful through the planning process. The food was absolutely amazing. We had nothing but compliments. Food service was fast and efficient. Overall, had we needed to do this again we would without a doubt go to the Refuge again.

I would 100% recommend The Refuge for your wedding venue. They are extremely affordable and the venue is stunning. We got married on 12/29/18 and received discounts for getting married off season. We paid for our wedding ourselves and had a strict budget and The Refuge worked with us to create a pizza/pasta/salad buffet for our guests and it was a hit! Our 11th table to get food stated their plates were filled with hot food. We got so many compliments on the food and man, was it affordable. Christa is their wedding coordinator and so helpful. She answered all questions promptly and was just so great throughout the planning process and day of. The venue staff is amazing and I just can't give them enough praise. We were able to clean up the next day as well, since there were no events that Sunday. Keep in mind, we got married in the winter so this will likely not be possible for someone getting married peak season

We had such an amazing experience with this venue from start to finish. During the duration of planning the on-site coordinator changed and we had to re-establish some things originally outlined/guaranteed through the original coordinator but in the end all original agreements were honored and everything turned out perfectly. We were able to book our Groom’s Dinner the day before the wedding so we could decorate the space as well. We held our ceremony and reception within their main ballroom and the staff was super quick to flip the space. For the ceremony we were able to use their house sound to play our own music and wireless microphone, which worked out perfectly because our videographer could tap into it for the sound on our video. The venue itself was kept very clean, which we appreciated. The building is kept in great shape and with it being so beautiful we didn’t have to do much decorating. Our inspiration for our wedding was wintertime outdoors/cabin feel, which fits with this venue perfectly. They also had really nice chairs. Seems like a weird thing to point out but many venues we’ve been to or checked out have those old, ugly typical banquet chairs so you save on not needing chair covers. There are many places throughout the facilities for photo opportunities so you don’t have to go to another off-site location. The bridal suite downstairs was perfect to use in storing the personal items for people in our wedding party and as a mother’s room. However, be aware there are no windows down there if you think of getting ready onsite, it’s not ideal for getting makeup done. The food was out of this world, phenomenal!!! Guests were coming up to us all night letting us know how much they enjoyed the food and the generous portions. We had the spinach tortellini and chicken parmesan as our main meals with a few steaks for the head table. If you’re looking for a wedding or event location in the north metro this is a place you will definitely want to check out!

This venue was the venue of my dreams. My husband and I fell in love with it instantly when we went to see it. We booked right away. We did end up choosing a Friday wedding because the food and beverage minimum was too high on Saturday for the little amount of guests we would be having. I am actually really glad we did pick Friday because we couldn't have asked for better weather, I mean it was perfect! The next day (Saturday) it rained all day. I guess it was meant to be. Anyways, the service was so great and working with Jami went so smoothly. She was on maternity leave for awhile but it all worked out. We really wanted her to be there with us for our wedding and she was. :) She was so friendly and helpful. Sometimes she may take a day or two to respond to an email because of her work schedule but we were okay with that knowing that's how it was. We had our ceremony and reception there with the ceremony being outside. It was so beautiful! We didn't need to supply any decorations for the ceremony because the beauty on its own is perfect! The whole venue is beautiful with beautiful woodwork throughout. They were very accommodating with all our requests and they were kind enough to let us setup Thursday night before the wedding, which helped tremendously. We had our rehearsal dinner there as well and the food was great! But the food for our wedding night dinner was absolutely delicious! We had so many nice comments on how good the food was. We picked the stuffed chicken and NY strip steak plated dinners. Both options were amazing! We started our wedding at 4:00 PM but I would highly recommend starting at 2:00 PM because we didn't have time to get to everyone and talk to them. We were just so busy with one thing to the next and then it was over. I highly recommend this venue for your wedding!

Over the last 8 years our family has continued to be very pleased in holding many Groom's Dinners, Wedding Ceremonies and Receptions at The Refuge Golf Club. My daughter held her Outdoor Ceremony and Reception there just last week. Jamie, the Coordinator, is very helpful and hands on. She truly listens to what you want, and gives suggestions from there. She keeps communication open and is easy to reach - so important. Joe, too, steps in when needed. They are very flexible and gracious with even last minute changes and accommodations. The grounds in every season are impeccably beautiful. The building is more modern rustic than stodgy lodge. The ambiance is warm yet airy; with its high, exposed post and beam ceiling, wood columns, and stone fireplace. The dance floor wood glows. All is is lightened up with its windowed walls overlooking and opening up to the huge stone patio with gazebo area and both the manicured and wild grounds. Ceremonies can be performed under the patio gazebo, the ground gazebo, or indoors. My daughter used the ground gazebo decorated with white tulle and it was beautiful blowing in the breeze! The food is fantastic; we chose a buffet dinner. We were 150 and it felt spacious. The service is great - they even helped carry in, set up and pick up the decor we brought! Guests were very comfortable; their round tables seating 10 are good for visiting. A golf cart & driver were on hand to shuttle people needing assistance from building to cars in the lot. The Refuge has always met my expectations; it's a very special place for us and it will become one for you, too.

We got married at The Refuge Golf Club on the hottest day of the year in 2015 and we had a great time! Joe and Jamie were awesome to work with.

The venue was beautiful. The outdoor flowers were in bloom and they matched the colors of our wedding party. We asked for a special set-up outdoors and it worked out wonderful.

They were willing to let us use a couple a couple of golf carts later in the day and we had fun taking pictures. We also did a putting contest on the practice greens after the rehearsal for everyone in the wedding party which was a hoot.

We had looked at a number of golf course venues and this was definitely the best for our budget. The dinner was wonderful and we had many compliments from our guests. The almond crusted chicken and the salmon were our favorite and done to perfection.

We didn't have to worry about anything other than having fun & enjoying our special day with family and friends.

Joe and Mariah were so reliable and dependable while planning our wedding at The Refuge! They were very professional and took care of any wedding day hiccups before I had time to worry! They have an excellent staff and we couldn't have been happier!

Jami was wonderful to work with! She made all the details happen and so easy, which was a total relief for me. She was prompt in responding to any phone calls or emails and always pleasant to work with. The site is incredible to have a ceremony and reception and so beautiful, I would recommend this gem to any bride!

Our Wedding Reception was absolutely beautiful because of the natural beauty of the Ball Room at the Refuge and due to the hard work of all the staff. We worked with Jami Price, the event coordinator on site. She was professional, prompt, and organized. She has years of experience at the Refuge, and as a result, she was able to forsee all the details that we needed to arrange prior to the event. She responded to my calls, emails, and questions within one day, if not a few hours! She managed the staff to make sure that everything from set-up to tear-down went smoothly. She was a calming and reassuring presence the day of the reception. All of the staff worked diligently throughout the night. The food and beverage manager, Joe, was also very professional and experienced. The Refuge also has partnerships with well-known vendors such as Buttercream cakes. The oak ceiling is so beautiful, you don't even need drapery! It will be a beautiful pleasurable experience!

The Refuge Golf Club is the perfect place for a wedding. The scenery is amazing. They provide all the chairs and linens which was really helpful. You can also decorate any way you would like.
Susan, in charge of events, is SO helpful and lead us through everything we needed to do. We never once felt out of the circle on anything. Same thing goes for Joe.
There is a ton of room for your guests and even room to get ready in the basement.
The food is AWESOME and totally worth it. They keep the place semi-decorated all the time and when they had the lights out side and such, it added so much to the place.

I have recommended the Refuge to everyone I know thats getting married and will continue to do so.

The location and building are beautiful, I couldn't have asked for a better set up, they have a private bridal with lounge, changing area, and bathroom, and even though there are golfers there, they are kept very seperate from the wedding. It is also the most beautiful reception room I looked at and the open rafters look great in B&W photos.
I had several guests comment on how curteous/helpful the staff was throughout the reception, and they were very easy to work with while I was planning. I would recommend the Refuge to anyone planning a wedding.

Working with the staff at The Refuge was wonderful. Susan was so amazing. She alway provided such a quick response with any questions or concerns I had. The food was amazing. The timing of our dinner service was excellent; everything flowed so well. It was also such a beautiful location. I felt as though we got much more than we paid for-in a good way! I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

We were very pleased with every area of service provided by the Refuge. Susan and Joe were very helpful. Our planning, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception were all pretty much flawless! They responded to every question and concern that we had. If something came up, they took care of it immediately.
The food was outstanding and HOT!!! Our guest raved about the facilities, the food and the service. The only thing I would have changed is asking them if we could have coffee service at the table. Even though the wedding was held on a very warm day, the guests liked their coffee!

I think that The Refuge was a great place for a ceremony and reception. The coordinator that they have did an amazing job with all of the vendors and really took all of the stress off of the entire wedding party. I would surely recommend The Refuge to anyone looking to have a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony and wonderful wedding reception.

The Refuge staff was absolutely amazing. Jami was there to help us every step of the way. We had the ceremony outside and the reception in the banquet hall and both were absolutely beautiful! Everybody raved about the food and told everyone how stunning everything had been. The waitstaff and bartenders were friendly and very helpful. To anyone who is looking for a picturesque place to be married this is for sure the place!

We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding! Jami was wonderful to work with. The setting was perfect for our winter wedding- it was so cozy with the fireplace! The food was amazing- it was one of the reasons we wanted our wedding at the Refuge because we had been to weddings there in the past. I also loved that almost all of the amenities were included in the room rental price- it made the process so much easier! Thank you to Jami and everyone else at the Refuge who made our day perfect!

The Refuge is a beautiful, rustic, yet modern wedding venue. We received so many compliments from our guests’ that it was the most beautiful venue they had ever seen. The vaulted ceilings and wood work was amazing. It is also reassuring to know they have two backup plans in case it rains; under the covered patio or inside.

My only complaint is the tiny room for the bridal party to get ready in and no room for the groomsmen. There is no natural light in the bridal room and the connected bathroom had a strange musty odor. However, I am glad that there was a room since it was better than nothing. We ended up doing our makeup in the stairwell where there was natural light.

Jessica, the wedding coordinator was great to work with and very responsive to our emails. The Refuge is a must see venue in the north metro.

The Refuge and Susan did a wonderful job with all the details of my wedding. Susan was always very quick in responding to my questions and went out of her way to help the day go as smooth as possible. All of my guests have raved about the food being hot and delicious and that the atmosphere at the Refuge. The only issue we had was with the tables being cleared and we ended up with a lot of wasted drinks. What we paid was considerably lower than any other comperable venue and the value was incredible. I highly recommend this venue for other brides.

We were married at the Refuge on 9/8/06. We looked at several venues and were having some difficulty as my dream wedding was more elegant, but my husband was looking for something more laid back. We had almost made up our mind to go with another venue and decided to drive by the Refuge on a whim. Am I glad we did! :) As soon as we laid eyes on the facility, we knew it was perfect for us. It was the perfect combination of rustic & "up north" for my husband, yet stylish & modern for me. People would later comment that it was very "us."

The grounds are gorgeous...we took a few golf carts out to some holes that have breathtaking views and my pictures turned out beautifully.

We had our ceremony as well as the reception right there, which I loved. I really wanted an outdoor fall wedding, and they have an awesome location for that. Since they also have a large covered patio, we had a back-up plan in case of inclement weather. It was chilly the day of my wedding, but no rain fell, so the 10 minute outdoor ceremony went off without a hitch! :)

The reception room was decorated beautifully, and the lit candles on the tables, low lighting & open rafters in the room gave our evening dinner a very dramatic and elegant feel. Very classy. Exactly what I wanted! People still rave about the food from my wedding. It was A-MA-ZING. The steak, chicken & pasta were all to die for. Parents loved that the kids' meals came out first to satify hungry bellies. ;) We had an open bar, so our guests had a great time! The wait staff was awesome and we especially loved Curly, our bartender.

Joe was great to work with, and he even hooked the groomsmen up with golf on the morning of our wedding. My husband now golfs in the league there. :)

The coordinator that we had is no longer there, and she did leave a bit to be desired as far as follow-up is concerned. But all in all, our wedding day was absolutely perfect, and I would recommend the Refuge to anyone!

Beautiful venue. Space & equipment for outdoor wedding. Offers some decorations with rental of space, others for rent on site (which is nice if you don't want to have to coordinate bringing your own glassware & mirrors for centerpieces). Good value for what you pay. Beautiful patio for spring/summer/fall weddings. Excellent food & polite help. Whole place is yours for the day, 10am on, including dressing room downstairs. All around great place.

The Refuge Golf Club is the place if you are getting married. We had both the ceremony and reception there. I am so glad we found it. The manager was so helpful. If we didn't have a dj, flowers, officiant, etc., she could help. She also helped a lot with the rehearsal. The price was also in our budget. We are a young couple with two kids so our money supply isn't there. We were able to have the dream wedding that we wanted without going into huge debt. I would recommend the Refuge to anyone. In fact, I have already done so.

They were very helpful and did a great job guiding us through the process. Prices are very resonable and the food was great!!

We loved having our wedding at The Refuge. It was the absolutely perfect balance of rustic and elegant for us. We also wanted to be able to get married outside with a good back-up plan. Unlike many venues where "back-up" plan is having guests sit at their dinner tables, The Refuge offers a beautiful wrap-around porch/patio to get married on in the case of rain. Fortunately, we had beautiful weather but it was reassuring to me to know that there was a good back-up.

Jessica, the wedding coordinator, was incredibly helpful, friendly, and very understanding of my many questions. She made me feel very comfortable that things would go smoothly the day of the wedding and they did. There were a few small things that could have been better (golf carts going behind us during pictures, the bartenders not asking our contact person if we wanted to go to the reserve alcohol) but I attribute some of those things to Jessica not being there the day of the wedding and it being run by someone who was less familiar with our plan for the day. None of these things influenced how well our day went, they were just very small things that could have been improved on.

We had a perfect wedding day! I would highly recommend The Refuge. It is a beautiful venue that is more reasonably priced than many of the other place near Minneapolis/St. Paul and the staff are very helpful.

They were great and I truly believe a wonderful value. The whole team was amazing to work with; people loved the food and the venue. It was a great place to have the wedding. I did actually recommend it to a co-worker's daughter; they are not only having their wedding there as well but with the referral we received complimentary appetizers!

The site for this wedding was beautiful and we got nonstop compliments on it. There are a couple things, which weren't such a hindrance but I thought I would make others aware of. First, there is a giant, beautiful fire place right in the middle of the dance floor. This is fine if you don't plan on having a large wedding but if you do, plan on having guests sit behind it and not seeing much of what is going on. Second, I feel that the wedding planner at this location was super sweet but at times was a little unprofessional. She didn't return calls until quite awhile later, which is a little annoying. Third, if you plan on taking your pictures at the site you'll have to stay off the greens (which are super beautiful) and they are not flexible on letting you use a couple golf carts to get around the place. Otherwise, I think this place is very beautiful and I know a lot of people get married here and love it.

My experience with the refuge was pretty great! The food was awesome and the servers did a good job! I was also able to come in the morning before to set up which was a huge relief! I mostly worked with Jessica a Joe, who were very nice and easy to work with.

I had both the ceremony and the reception here and I loved it. This place is so rustic looking (which is what we wanted) but you can also doll it up to make it look like a fairy tale wedding. Susan is the onsite wedding planner and she is great. She has so many ideas and is very helpful. It can be difficult to get a hold of her at times but you need to remember that they have a wedding basically every weekend if not two or three. I would recommend this place to any one who wants an outdoor wedding and a close reception site. It's beautiful!!!
