I had such an amazing experience! First of all, the location is beyond perfect. The ceremony space and ballrooms overlook the ocean, and it’s extremely gorgeous during sunset. The staff and service were phenomenal, they went above and beyond to make sure all the details were in place.

Even the staff at the hotel were friendly and accommodating! A few of our family had flights later in the afternoon, so we were nervous they would have to wait around at the airport for a long time. But, front desk was able to extend our checkout easily.

I have to give a few shoutouts! Thank you Diana for your swift responses–you did a great job keeping us updated with the room block. And thank you to Rain! You were such a dream to work with. Not only were you professional and courteous, you made the process streamlined and seamless. I would highly recommend this venue!

I highly recommend the Portofino Hotel as the ideal Southern California wedding venue. We held our reception there in September 2025 in the ballroom overlooking the ocean. The location could not have been any more special! The Sales Manager, Rain Villanueva, was easy to work with and very knowledgeable and responsive. The Catering Events Coordinator, Brittany Roberts, was on top of every detail and helped execute the day perfectly. Diana Becerra was very patient and helpful in managing our room block.

Our guests raved about the reception food and the service personnel made the evening flow smoothly. We had a great experience at the Portofino.

Its a great venue with wonderful staff and food. Rain sold us immediately and the food and service did not disappoint. Its the closest youll get to the water in the area, and they did a good job at renovating the space from when we first saw it. Kudos to the staff that worked our wedding, they were all fun. Special shout out to Rain for the nice amenity in our room to end our night.

I got married at the Portofino last month and everything was beyond amazing. The venue is stunning and they have such a great team! Rain was super helpful throughout the whole process. He was very prompt with answering any questions we had and made us feel truly cared for. We were so happy with how everything turned out on our wedding day :) We also received so many compliments from guests on how good the food and drinks were!

We had our wedding in the summer of 2024. This wedding venue is breathtaking; elegant and sophisticated. Ocean view ceremony with white/ gold chiavari chairs and the ballroom has an impressive view towards the ocean and marina!
Rain Villanueva, the catering sales manager was an absolute gem! He took care of every detail, basically orchestrating the entire wedding with ease and precision.
All of our guests were mesmerized with the amazing experience from start to finish!
The quality of the food and alcoholic drinks were beyond expectation. To top things off, they offered us a package that included a gorgeous delicious cake and a night in their high class hotel!
The food was exactly as I envisioned, and he made adjustments whenever needed without a hitch.
His professionalism and attention to detail ensured everything went smoothly.
We couldn’t have done it without him! We owe so much of our day to Rain and his fantastic team. Truly outstanding!

The Portofino is a GODSEND of a venue! When I think about my experience working with them, specifically their Catering Sales Manager, Rain Villanueva, I have nothing but positive things to say!!! Looking beyond the beauty of their hotel and the ceremony/cocktail/reception space - it was the way he responded to my (numerous) inquiries, his willingness to accommodate requests, and the way he made genuine efforts to get to know you as a person (and not just another event) that really made this venue special.

The wedding would not have been a success it was without Rain and the entire team. They understood challenges could arise and were responsive in collaborating on ways to approach each challenge. They were willing to work closely with everyone involved to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for everyone!

From the first communication with Rain 12 months prior to the event, to the day of, and checking in post-event, he went above and beyond, staying positive, consistently uplifting, and being quick with the humor to keep things lighthearted! Seeing the event come to life - as beautifully and successfully as we all imagined - could not have happened without them and for that, I’m incredibly grateful! We had our wedding event at the Portofino Hotel. Rain and Dia were fantastic in communication. I had a LOT of questions when reviewing the contract, but they were always happy to answer any questions I had. Very professional. The hotel has amazing staff, beautiful venue and the food was spectacular. All our guests loved this beautiful place and I would definitely recommend this location for any events.

We booked the El Rey Catamaran for an after-party after our wedding to take us around the harbor on a sunset cruise boat ride, and it was so beautiful.

I worked with Lauren who was super responsive and very on top of everything. She even set aside time to greet us when we dropped off decorations the night before. She gave us an impromptu tour of the boat, and she was so understanding when we were running late the day of.

The food on the boat was amazing as well, and the menu options were so diverse. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend booking with Portofino for any event!

I will attempt not to write novel. But I married the love of my life at Portofino Hotel & Marina last month and it was incredible. Beautiful venue, Beautiful food, and service but the greatest part was the help and support we got from the Wedding Planners/Guides/Helping Hands whom were Sierra Gaffney & Rain Villanueva. Dream Team is what they are. They took care of me and my wife at every turn and made this process one of ease. Every time we had a question they had an answer. We recently celebrated our wedding at the Portofino Hotel & Marina in May 2024, and it was nothing short of perfect. The exceptional attention to detail by Rain and Sierra ensured that everything went seamlessly, from the ceremony to the reception. The Portofino Hotel definitely exceeded my expectations for our wedding on 5/23/24.
To say that I/WE are impressed is an understatement!! We were searching for a beachside wedding venue in the South Bay and found Portofino Hotel & Marina to be a perfect match! We loved that the venue is secluded and literally right next to the water - allowing us to feel the natural ocean breeze throughout the whole day. This venue is beyond beautiful - from their ballroom to their hotel. We were given a beautiful complimentary suite room for my husband and me on the 3rd floor. Honestly, my only regret was not checking in sooner and staying later!!! The room was so comfortable and relaxing - what was definitely needed for the stress of our wedding planning.

Now for the wedding planning - HUGE shout out specifically to RAIN & SIERRA - our go to event/planning coordinators who I was in constant communication with for literally the past year. These two are seriously the best!! Other than the beautiful venue itself, these two are another main reason why we chose this venue. From the very beginning - they both were super responsive to my inquiry. They were so helpful with accommodating ALL of our requests - from the vendors, to the wedding cake, the layout of our hall with our wedding party, to the FOOD. Whatever we wanted/requested for - these two made it HAPPEN!!! We wanted an in n out truck and an after's ice cream truck for our wedding and these 2 did everything they could to make that happen for us! I even requested specific alcohol/whiskey for our wedding and these 2 made it happen.

Now for the food - we received SO many compliments about how our wedding was one of "the best" weddings attended and that it was so "EPIC." The food was beyond amazing - we chose 3 main dishes: filet mignon, braised short ribs, and sea bass. ALL THREE choices were absolutely delicious. My husband and I couldn't even decide which dish to pick for ourselves so we ordered one of each at the wedding to share LOL. Literally everyone was talking about how good the food was at the wedding. One week later and we are STILL hearing compliments about our wedding.

We seriously had the BEST experience celebrating our wedding at Portofino Hotel. We absolutely want to come back and have future celebrations/parties here! The venue beyond exceeded our expectations - especially with the BEST staff. Thank you sooooo much RAIN & SIERRA!!! Seriously recommending this venue and team to everyone! :)

This hotel is very nice for a wedding and reception. I highly recommend this place especially for the view if you love the water. Rain was very helpful with this experience and his service was exceptional.

We recently eloped and decided to have a reception/family reunion for friends and family to celebrate our union. I did all the coordination myself and because of the event staff at the Portofino Hotel I always felt like everything was under control. They have amazing tools to help visualize everything, super responsive and caring event managers (big shout out to Rain V. who runs a tight ship and understands how to create the best programs for his hotel and his clients!), and a wonderful banquet staff that executed the night perfectly. The location for the price cannot be beat. Cocktail hour at sunset in the marina was truly magical and the venue itself was spacious and well-appointed. Hightly recommend!

Where do I begin?!! The Portofino Hotel & Marina was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! From day one all the way to today, a few days after the wedding, all the staff we encountered has been excellent!! Specifically I want to give a shout out to Sierra, Rain, Luis, Paco, & Mac & Melanie. Sierra was my main hotel wedding coordinator and contact. She was so responsive, attentive, organized, sweet, available, and amazing!! I couldn’t be happier with her and her services. The entire experience was seamless. We planned an entire wedding in under 2 months together as I was eager to marry my man this year. She was so helpful and explained any and all things when I had questions. Starting with booking the venue all the way to the day after the wedding. Everything was so organized, including the deadlines of decisions I needed to make, and payment info, and what to do if it rained. She had everything covered. THANK YOU THANK YOU SIERRA!! Rain was also another venue coordinator & catering sales manager who helped us too and he was amazing as well. He stepped in when/if Sierra was out of the office and he attended our tasting and answered so many questions as well. He was so nice, sweet and great to work with. Very organized and never missed a beat! Thank you Rain!! Luis, the director of Banquets, handled anything food and drink related and everything was perfect. He even placed two of each hors d’oeuvres at our sweetheart table (knowing we probably wouldn’t get a chance to eat them during cocktail hour as we were busy mingling) and he was right!! It was such a sweet, simple gesture that made a big impression on us. Paco was one of the Bartenders from the day of (I never got a chance to meet our other bartender) and he was so fun and cheerful and positive and an overall great spirit. Guests kept telling me how much they loved Paco and me too! Mac worked on the hotel side and we met him when we checked in and he handled ALL our luggage and he also golf carted me around on the actual wedding day so I didn’t have to walk too much. He was super sweet and was so helpful and had a great vibe! Also, my initial point of contact was Melanie who responded to my initial venue request. She was so great and helpful and responsive that right away we were sold and we booked the venue the next day without ever even seeing it in person.
On top of all the AMAZING staff, the venue is just absolutely beautiful!! You can’t find a prettier ocean front venue in the So Cal. Just gorgeous. We chose a type of all-inclusive wedding package that included a sit down 3-course dinner, open bar, ceremony, hotel room, wedding cake, and many more perks such as white linen, candles on each table, arch on the ceremony grass, champagne toast, etc. It was perfect, efficient, organized and made my life so easy. I really didn’t have to do much except invite guests and show up!! many of my guests told me afterward they were so impressed with the staff, venue and the food!!! Seriously, the food was excellent. I know all of this sounds too good to be true but honestly it was. I had zero problems, no horror stories, nothing. It truly was a PERFECT day. I also found out afterward that a coworker of mine got married here too this past summer and she said the same thing. Her day was perfect as well and I am not surprised at all. Thank you to everyone at the Portofino! We cant wait to come back just to enjoy the restaurant, the views and the excellent service 😊

Portofino was a stunning location to get married at! The events team made sure everything was perfect for the big day. The food and speciality cocktails from the banquets team were incredible. The hotel staff were attentive and gave us the VIP treatment. It was all very inclusive and affordable, especially for a prime, Southern California location. We are so glad we chose this venue for our wedding. It was a perfect day!

We chose the Portofino Hotel & Marina for our daughter’s wedding because we loved the beautiful Seaside Lawn where the ceremony was held and the adjacent Pacific ballroom with views of the Redondo Beach harbor for our 75 guest dinner reception. The Portofino staff were very professional and helpful every step of the way. They made the planning and execution as stress free as possible. I’m so glad everything went well, our guests enjoyed a fun time and we have lots of happy memories to look back on. A huge thank you to Rain Villanueva for his help in making it happen!

The Portofino Hotel & Marina was the venue my husband and I chose for our wedding. It was the perfect venue for us. We always dreamed of having a wedding by the beach, and the minute we walked into the beautiful hotel we knew that was the one. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Rain and Sierra answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to make sure the cost stayed within our budget. The valet guys and banquet staff helped us load everything onto carts, so we didn't have to carry everything ourselves. And the front desk helped us with our hotel room and even gave us a discount since I stayed an extra night the day before the wedding. One of the nights we stayed at the hotel, they had live music and it really added to the relaxing, chill ambiance.

When Rain promised us a magical wedding, he was not kidding! We needed a last-minute venue and were particular about how we wanted our seating arrangements and entertainment. Rain made it all happen quickly and gave very valuable advice, guiding us every step of the way. This is a great venue for any occasion and we are so glad we chose to get married here. We still enjoy the periodic staycations to remind us!

We had our reception at the Portifino Hotel and It was such a delight! We are not based in L.A. and I was nervous about planning a wedding (I did not have a planner) from far away, but the Portifino and Rain Villanueva made the process so easy and stress-free! Rain was so responsive from the start before we had even signed a contract and provided us with all the information we needed. He was so flexible and even FaceTimed with us to show us the ballrooms. We visited the hotel in person before deciding where to have the reception, and as soon as we showed up all the staff were so lovely and welcoming. The beautiful views of the Marina from the ballrooms, the gorgeous and serene lobby, and the delicious food at the hotel restaurant were more than enough to convince us to have our reception there and It did not disappoint on the wedding day! The staff were all so sweet and professional and the reception was so much fun, our guests couldn’t stop telling us how much they enjoyed It! Also, a few family members had strict diets and the chef and staff did an amazing job with the food and making sure they also got to enjoy their meals. It was an all-around great experience and I can’t thank the Portofino and Rain enough for all they did for us to make It a dream come true!

We loved getting married at the Portofino. They made the planning process so easy, Chris and Rain were friendly to work with and responsive.

Our guests stayed at the hotel and it was so easy and beautiful. The lobby was a great gathering space. We loved the getting ready spaces and photo locations available at the hotel.

Our cocktail hour was on the lawn and it was so fun! We got a lot of comments on how great the food was and the highest praise was for how speedy the bartenders were!

There isn't enough words in the world to express how absolutely amazing our experience was here at the Portofino. Ever since I was young, I always knew I wanted a beautiful oceanfront wedding, and Portofino completely delivered that and MORE.

Everything throughout my wedding planning process was sooo smooth thanks to Rain, aka their most amazing wedding coordinator ever (give that man a raise!!!

We had a small wedding and the Baleen staff at the Portofino was perfect! Rain and staff were responsive and attentive to every detail. Their recommended vendors terrific!

Can’t tell you how wonderful it was to work with the Chris and Rain in the catering/wedding department. They made our wedding so memorable and seamless! They were all so exceptional to work with -- always going above and beyond to accommodate all of our questions and requests. So many guests came up to me during the wedding to tell me how fantastic the staff was from beginning to end –especially my friend who brought flowers from the church to put in the bathrooms and various tables. I know they were getting ready for us to arrive, but they stopped to help her get the hangers off the pots from the pews at church without hesitation! While we were taking pictures, several of the staff came out passing hors’d oeuvres and drinks for us to make sure we ate! So wonderful! During the evening everyone kept coming to me to tell how amazing the staff was. We are so grateful we are for their kindness and professionalism in making this “one of the most fun weddings they have been too”---and that is a direct quote! Included in the cost of dinner was an open bar, our wedding cake, our wedding night at the Portofino with ocean view and bottle of wine. We felt that the value of the evening, much less the gorgeous view from the Terrace and Pacific Ballroom were extraordinary. It was a magical day.

We had a wedding at the pacific ballroom with just 50 guest! We thought the place might be too big for that size crowd but it worked out perfectly. (we also hired a photo booth that helped fill some of the space)

Honestly the full staff helped make our wedding day perfect they all did an amazing job! The steak!! Our guests kept talking about how great it was. Plus the view! come on u have the ocean right there, and sunset! so stunning!

I had a wonderful wedding last month at the Portofino Hotel. Rain was our point of contact and he was very responsive and helpful throughout the whole process so I knew the day would go well. I liked that the ceremony space and banquet hall were in a separate area yet super close to the hotel itself. It gave us lots of privacy but i was still able to crash in the hotel room right after. The venue is in SoCal right next to the beach so of course the venue and food are on the pricier side, but everything was delicious and well-worth it. I can’t wait to get my photos so that I can re-live the day again!

Great food, service, and atmosphere! Highly recommend this venue if you’re getting married in the area. Cute boutique hotel with an amazing honeymoon suite. The wedding planning team is great to work with as well!

We had a total of 20 rooms for our wedding guests in addition to our bridal suite and complimentary honeymoon suite which was included in our wedding package. The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating. Upon arrival, check-in was easy, and our rooms were clean and spacious. For group activities, our groomsmen enjoyed the pool and complimentary bike rentals.

Thank you to our wedding coordinators, Rain and Sheena, for being there for us every step of the way. They made the process so easy and seamless for us, especially in a time of COVID wedding restrictions. We were very much impressed with the level of service from our wedding coordinators. They were flexible and easily accessible for tours, emails, planning, calls, photos, tastings, and suggestions. Rain even provided a bottle of wine, treats, and a super cute personal note in our honeymoon suite! Thank you to our wedding team and the rest of the hotel staff for making our dream day a reality.

We had our wedding reception at the Portofino Hotel & Marina on 10/30/21. Rain Villanueva and Chris Schmidt helped us throughout the entire process and they were both very attentive and detail oriented. Rain made the day of go perfectly. The process went smoothly starting from our menu tasting - all the options were so good, but we ended up choosing the filet mignon, sea bass, and tofu vegetarian option. All the guests were raving at how good the food was. We have also never seen such an attentive and efficient bar service too! The night was slightly chilly during our cocktail hour and Rain and his staff were quick to bring out the space heaters, which were amazing. The night was magical and we thank Portofino for all their efforts. Thanks again to Rain for the surprise note and treats waiting for us in our hotel room that evening!

We had to delay our wedding due to Covid and the team made the process so easy, especially when we had to move it from date #2 to date #3. We were able to keep
everything as we had originally planned and imagined.

The planning: a million thanks to Rain for being our point of contact for the event. I'm so glad he was in charge of our occasion because of his professionalism, attention to detail, genuine interest in us as a couple, accommodating nature, and thoughtful coordinating with our vendors. This day wouldn't have gone as well as it did without you, Rain! We also want to thank Sheena for assisting day of with the rehearsal!

The venue: it was set up beautifully, from the outdoor ceremony to the indoor reception. Our guests were all sat comfortably, the sidewalk was closed to the public for privacy, parking was easy, and the lobby was closed while we took photos. Thank you for making us feel like we had the entire space to ourselves!

The food/drinks: our guests raved about the food! It was so nice to be able to give our guests an array of options so we could accommodate every dietary need. Additionally, our bartender was so pleasant--he even stole the show for a bit on the dance floor! Finally, the servers were so attentive to our guests--everyone had what they needed which provided that "home-y" touch.

I could go on and on with a handful of positive things to say....but overall, the Portofino delivered on everything promised and then some! We are so glad we had our wedding at this beautiful venue and would highly recommend it!

My wife and I had the pleasure of having our wedding reception along the beautiful Redondo Beach coastline at the Portofino Hotel & Marina. From the very beginning the staff were courteous, respectful, and attentive to our wishes for our dream event. Rain communicated with us throughout the entire process and he was great to work with! We had our wedding reception at Portofino in May 2021. After looking at several other venues we concluded that Portofino was the best value for the money in terms of beautiful scenery, delicious food, and customer service. Rain V. was especially helpful making sure all the details were exactly right to ensure our day was memorable.

We had the most special day at The Portofino Hotel & Marina! We had chosen to have our wedding in Fall of 2020. Of course, that ended up being right in the thick of a pandemic so we sadly had to postpone our wedding to the following year. Rain, Sheena, Chris, and the rest of the staff we communicated with at Portofino stayed in constant communication with us throughout the months with updates on city mandates and event guidelines for the venue. We were happy they made accommodations for us to keep our same date for the following year. Having a reputable staff and venue made it much easier to plan a wedding with so many vendors in play. Most of our vendors had prior experience working at Portofino and that just made the process and familiarity so much easier. The wedding day was absolutely beautiful. The staff were so kind and attentive. The food was amazing (we had so many people comment during the wedding and afterwards how great the food was)! We booked rooms at the hotel and it was so seamless and easy (and safe!) for everyone to enjoy the wedding then head back to their hotel rooms - we'd highly recommend doing that. Overall, we were so thankful and happy for the service and professionalism of all the staff at Portofino and want to give a special shoutout to Rain and Sheena for making the whole process so pleasant and easy. From the beginning introduction to the Portofino Hotel, to the detailed planning, to the day of my wedding Sheena Persichina and her staff exuded a warm feeling of enthusiasm, helpfulness and interest. The wedding day sparked elegance!

My husband and I had our wedding at the Portofino Hotel & Marina on 07/31/21. We were initially supposed to have our wedding here last year, but unfortunately could not move forward with our event due to the pandemic. Although it was a very frustrating time for us, we were very fortunate to work with Chris and Rain who helped us along the way!

Both Chris and Rain have been extremely patient with us in almost two years it took us to plan out our event. They would both schedule to meet with us whenever we needed and took their time to review what our options were for having our event (i.e. indoors, outdoors) during the pandemic. Not to mention they have helped us postpone our event many times due to the pandemic.

Postponing our event during the pandemic was, of course, very frustrating. However, in looking back, I am very happy we had their support and that they did not give up in working with us through all the chaos going on in the world.

On the day of our event (when it finally got to happen!) - we had such a magical experience! Everything turned out as planned. Staff was amazing in setting up everything to our liking and standards. They have an amazing bar that comes with the wedding package and we were very pleased with the alcohol and food at this venue.

My husband and I were also very happy to spend the night at the hotel. The hotel was very clean and had breath taking views of the marina! We had breakfast there the next morning in our hotel and I could not be anymore pleased.

We will always remember this venue and I am sure they will remember us with everything they have been through with us.

The Portofino was the first venue my husband and I visited when we got engaged back in 2018, and it ended up being the only venue that we really loved! We originally had our reception planned for April 2020, but had to postpone the dates twice. They were professional and willing to work with us through all of the changes in dates and guest count over the past three years, and finally we were able to make it happen last September! The reception was beautiful, the food was amazing, and we were able to get the most gorgeous photos in the lobby. Couldn't be more grateful for this venue helping us create our perfect day!

I grew up near Redondo Beach, so I knew I wanted a location for my wedding that meant something special to me. I visited the Hotel Maya and the Hyatt in Long Beach, along with the Crowne Plaza (which, is now the Sonesta) and the Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach. All of these hotels are beautiful, but the Portofino is the only hotel that gives you a full ocean view throughout your whole wedding. My main two contacts at the Portofino, Chris Schmidt and Rain Villaneuva, were always on top of things and never hesitated to go over things again. Chris and Rain were with us throughout the whole COVID pandemic and kept in contact with us. Rain went above and beyond in communicating with the chef to make a gluten and vegetarian pasta for some of my guests, was polite and patient, and he even held my husband's wallet and phone during our grand entrance. My parents commented on how accommodating and sweet all the waiters were. My family and guests raved on how good the food was, even the picky eaters enjoyed the food! Our complimentary ocean view room was delightful! I loved how our view captured both the Palos Verdes peninsula and "seal island." I will say this, if you are looking for big spacious rooms then this may not be the hotel for you. Call ahead and ask for room sizes. The hotel property isn't very large, but there is a pool, bikes to rent, a restaurant and a beautiful lobby. The location of the Portofino is perfect! If you want to walk, you're about 15 minutes from the Redondo pier which has so many affordable things to do and places to eat. If you're venue hunting for a wedding or any type of occasion, then please consider this place. If you are visiting the South Bay for the first time, then please consider this place. Do your research and make the necessary calls, but in the end the Portofino is the right place to go. Even though my husband and I only recently got married on July 23, 2021, we are already planning that for our 5th or 10th wedding anniversary we plan on coming back to the Portofino to host the event.

I can’t say enough good things about the Portofino. The process of planning my wedding, even with a Covid postponement, was the simplest, most fun experience. I felt 100% taken care of from start to finish. They think of EVERYTHING, so that the couples don’t have to. My husband and I had the most amazing day and night, and would not change a single thing about our wedding. If you want to enjoy the planning process and leave all the stress out of it...this is the way to go! Plus, it’s absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious, and every one of our guests had a BLAST.

This hotel was amazing. The ceremony and venue was beautiful. Chris & Rain were amazing to work it. I totally recommend them. They worked with us in every step of the way making us comfortable And easy to work it. Our wedding was a hit.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner and reception here- both were amazing. The space is gorgeous and made for wonderful photos. All of the staff members were so helpful and you could tell really cared about making sure the day / weekend was magical. Highly recommend!

We toured The Portofino in early 2019 with their Catering Sales Manager, Kim Coulehan. She gave us the best venue tour we experienced on our search, by far. She has a knack for identifying your needs and helping to paint a picture of the ceremony and reception. On top of that she offered tons of options to accommodate our ideal date, in spite of a full schedule in early Fall. The venue was beautiful - they offer not only hotel accomodations, but a private ceremony and reception space right on the water. Very affordable, especially considering the location and quality of the venue. Would highly recommend to any prospective couple!

My fiance and I toured the space and received our quote from Shelley within 24 hours! We have been continually impressed with her excellent communication. My fiance and I both loved that the ceremony space is waterside but also more private than most outdoor spaces we saw. We also love that the ballroom doors open up so that guests can wander in and out, but not have be outside the whole night and deal with temperature changes. We have a lot of out-of-town guests, so we are happy that they don't have a rent a car for the weekend. Also, the food and drinks we tried at the tour were great, can't wait for our official tasting. Will update with a full review once our wedding has happened, we are really looking forward to having it at the Portofino!

All of these reviews are spot. on. I'm a wedding planner and recently worked with Kim at the Portofino and had an INCREDIBLE experience! Kim's customer service was fantastic both prior to and the day of the wedding and the catering team the day of was wonderful. They asked when the salads were to be placed and I said as soon as the first dance was over. The second that music ended, they came through the doors salads in hand. Absolutely excellent! The venue is well maintained and stunning both inside and out. The food was great and the included bakery was fantastic as well. The pricing is more than fair. VERY much looking forward to working with them again soon!

While planning and organization leading up play a huge part in that, what really ensures perfection is the support of the on-site staff. My daughter got married at the Portofino in October, 2017. They were more than accommodating working with us every step of the way. The location is beautiful. I have been telling everyone that this is "THE" place for a wedding and reception. The happy couple can't wait to spend their one year anniversary back here.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the Portofino. We had both our ceremony and reception there in October and everything went so perfectly. It was the perfect size for our wedding of 108 people. Everyone talked about how delicious the food was. The service was seamless and invisible. The getting-ready room was perfect for me, my 6 bridesmaids, both mom and mom-in-law, and a flower girl and auntie too. We were able to use pretty much the entire property for photos, uninterrupted. And the staff was great with answering questions, letting me come by to look at the venue almost every other week during the year before the wedding, and making sure everything ran smoothly. We wanted a water-front wedding and somehow didn't come upon this as a venue in our initial search - but I'm SO HAPPY we found it. It was exactly what we wanted and everything was just beautiful. And they offer better discounts than most for having your wedding not on a Saturday (our wedding was on a Sunday), so we spent significantly less than we would have at the other venues we were considering. Highly recommend!

The team at The Portofino was so sweet and attentive from the moment we decided to have our wedding there. Every detail that I envisioned for my wedding was executed by the Portofino. The Portofino Hotel is such a great venue for a wedding event.

Life.Film had a privilege to to capture several events at the Hotel in 2016 year. The hotel has a special bridal suites which could fit even a big bridal party, lobby of the hotel is a great spot for the romantic or formal pictures, rooms have a breathtaking ocean view which gives us plenties opportunities to create fantastic photos and videos.

The Portofino Hotel is an ideal place for filming with drone! Imagine: marina, ocean, rocks, sunset - the footage we bring from this venue are always gorgeous.

The ceremony set up located outdoor and faced to the ocean - very beautiful and romantic.

The area of the hotel is a perfect for the photo session, we found millions of spots for that - marina, beach, rocks, parks etc. We couldn't be more happy with the results!

Shelly Barry and her team were amazing to work with! They went above and beyond to help us create a beautiful event -- from begining to end every detail was perfect. We especially loved the patio and purchased the light package so our guests could see the sparking ocean all evening.

Full disclosure: my wedding isn't actually until May 2017. From the moment my fiancé and I toured the grounds at Portofino, we knew it was the one. The location itself is beautiful, and they know what they're doing when it comes to weddings (without it feeling like a wedding factory). The marina with the sea lions, the floor-to-ceiling windows in ballroom, and all the wonderful options! Lisa Fleming gave us our tour and has been our contact throughout this process. She is incredible! So sweet and personable, and also very responsive and knowledgeable! She has been very helpful! I have no doubt in my mind that my reception (they already had a ceremony booked on our date) will be amazing, and my guests will have a great time!

Honestly, the Portofino provided the best wedding experience I could ever imagine. We looked at quite a few venues before the Portofino was the obvious choice. From the beginning, every part of the wedding package (from a combined ceremony + reception space, to included catering, to accommodations, to breath-taking ocean views, to fantastic staff) was a dream come true. Everyone who helped us during the planning process--from food-tasting to various questions--was amazing (especially Jenna). All of my questions were answered via email immediately. The food was AMAZING with HUGE portions, and the bartender was SPECTACULAR. Also, by using Torrance Bakery, our cake was included in our bill AND was delivered to the venue, saving us from having to deal with getting the cake there. Our guests were blown away by everything, and so were we. Additionally, compared to other venues AND considering the extremely high quality of absolutely everything, the Portofino is an amazing value. We actually had a couple of straight-forward family members say something to the effect of: "You must be spending a fortune!", but truth be told, the Portofino was extremely affordable, but provided a once in a lifetime luxurious experience for us, and for our guests.

As for various upgrades, I definitely recommend ballroom uplights! Eight of them is $200, I believe, but they really added a necessary pop of color. I also think the terrance lighting package made the outside bar festive, but it's a bit overpriced. For that same reason we did NOT add ceremony lighting decor because we were only out there 20 minutes or so, and kept our arch simple. The only downside that I experienced was that because there was an event before ours, we were not able to decorate the ceremony space or ballroom until 4:00pm (our ceremony was at 5:30), which made pre-wedding VERY hectic. But it got done, and everything was perfect nonetheless. Can't recommend this venue enough.

My husband and I got married at the Portofino on October 24th, 2015. To say that our wedding exceeded our expectations is an understatement. Lisa Fleming was our sales coordinator and was so helpful, professional and organized throughout the entire process. She made the process go seamlessly. Additionally, Jenna, our day of coordinator, was excellent. The Portofino itself has breathtaking views, delicious food and very friendly and accommodating staff. We had our ceremony and reception at The Portofino on July 19, 2015 in the Pacific Ballroom. Lisa Fleming, the catering sales manager, was our focal at The Portofino for nine months. She was professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive from the start! Lisa built a great rapport with us beginning with our first meeting at The Portofino. She was so informative with every question we asked, as we did ask a lot of questions! Lisa provided examples and suggestions all along the way. We always felt like we were a priority! The tasting was splendid, the cake from Torrance Bakery was great, and the meals were fantastic on the day-of. Lisa easily solved any hiccups that arose and offered resolutions where necessary. The banquet orders are built specifically for the venue and can be confusing to the customer, but Lisa offered us explanations and required updates. Lisa worked fluidly with our wedding planner who was brought into the planning a couple months before the wedding. It rained on the day of our wedding. The Portofino staff, including Jenna Moore, was very accommodating and assisted in transitioning our ceremony indoors per our request. We have no regrets having our ceremony and reception at The Portofino and would highly recommend it, as well as Lisa Fleming, for your wedding or special occasion!

The level of service here is amazing. They were so professional and you cannot beat the view. I had such an incredible wedding day and I know that I owe a lot of that to the Portofino and the staff. My wedding was a dream come true and I paid far less than what I expected. It was as if I spent a million dollars for this venue. I certainly didn't spend anywhere near that but that's how that day felt. I cannot think of a better place to get married in SoCal. Lisa from the catering department kept me sane during the 2 months of preparation for my daughter's wedding reception. She was quick to answer all of my questions and comments. She was flexible, professional and kind. The venue was beautiful and intimate. All the guests had a wonderful time and could not get enough of the beautiful surroundings. We chose the Portofino because of the tremendous value. We wanted to have our reception near the beach and we needed a hotel destination since most of our guests were from out of town. The Portofino offered the best value and the location, venue, food and service were not compromised for the value we received. Our guests were very happy with the hotel as well and the price offered to guests was very affordable. Everyone tells us to this day what a beautiful wedding we had. Since we were on a very tight budget, we didn't spring for the extras you see at some weddings like decorations, banners, flowers all over the room, and yet just with the tables dressed, pretty chairs, ambiance, and views, it still looked like a million dollar wedding. Kate Foster was our wedding coordinator and she was amazing! She tended to all our needs and kept it cool during times my husband and I were stressed out. On our wedding day she took care of everything, and I never had to worry about a thing. I had the best day ever- nothing went wrong! Thank God for Kate.

I just wanted to take a few minuets to write about our amazing wedding. First of all, my now wife, and I had no idea how much effort a wedding could have been. We could not be more impressed and happy with the staff and the team of people who helped us along the way at The Portofino Hotel. Without Kate Foster, the wedding coordinator, for the Portofino Hotel, we would have been lost. From beginning to end she was absolutely the number one person who made this day so special for us. She gave us lots of options and even worked with us to fine tune them. She helped us choose things like our photographer, our florist, and our DJ. She even gave us tons of options with venders, who helped us down to the extra lighting and optional colored table linings and even extra furniture, to make this celebration a truly, one of a kind event. I can't express how fortunate we were to have all of her help from her professionalism, and kindness, to her knowledge and experience with planning weddings. Along the way we had such a pleasant time working with the Potofino Hotel. The evening was so well planned, without a single hitch! The beautiful land scape for pictures felt like we were on a tropical island. Our First Look was in front of the hotel on a beautiful dock with amazing yachts. Our family pictures in the main lobby by the fireplace are unbelievable. The happy hour and Hors d' oeuvres were great, it got all our guest ready for a fun filled evening. We had our ceromony on the lawn next to the ballroom. The sun was out and the ocean view was perfect. The reception was a blast. The food was a hit. We cannot get enough compliments on everything. We are so glad we choose The Portofino Hotel to have our wedding and it will forever be the place we will think of that made our wedding so special. This place is amazing!! We worked mostly with Kim and Shelley. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. We made so many changes to the menu I thought they would freak out, but they took it in stride and never once seemed upset. They listened to everything we wanted and made it all happen. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the room was, the terrace, the hotel, etc. They were amazed by how great the food was. The crab cakes were a HUGE hit. The price was totally reasonable and included so many things that our stress levels really diminished. They are professional, kind and really know what they are doing. I definitely recommend them! Our wedding and reception was amazing at the Portofino! Our family and close friends all arrived at the hotel the day before and we were surrounded by loving, supportive people in a beautiful, romantic setting for two days. The day before and after the wedding had dreary, windy weather but the day of our wedding...perfect sunny skies. The staff was amazing, the hotel was beautiful and we had the most amazing day of our lives.

My husband and I were recently married at the Portofino hotel and couldn't have had a better venue and support from the catering department. The Portofino Hotel is a beautiful location that has lovely views of the Redondo Beach Pier, the marina, and also within the lobby of the hotel as well. The catering manager of the Portofino that we dealt with was Lisa Fleming. She did a marvelous job at helping us plan our event. The communication between Lisa went very well as she helped us with the planning of the event and also helped give us a guideline/general timeline from which we could customize our event as well. Emails and phone calls were always answered back promptly and there was never any gray area of lack of clarity between us. In addition to contacting and coordinating with our other vendors, she helped to make sure that the ceremony and the reception went on time and smoothly. I would give high recommendations for anyone I know to have their wedding there as well, as the whole process from start to finish was as painless and as smooth as could be, and that was in a large part due to the staff of the Portofino and Lisa.

We were so impressed by the Portofino's service the day of our wedding. The staff and food were outstanding, the venue is the best in Southern California. The Portofino is a beautiful place to get married. It's definitely a hidden gem in the heart of the South Bay. Our on-site coordinator was Shelley and she was great to work with; very responsive and professional through the entire process. We got married at their wedding garden along the peninsula. They provided a wedding arch and our florist decorated it beautifully. We had about 150 guests, so with all the chairs on the lawn, it was a bit of a squeeze but very intimate feel to it. (Keep in mind there will be small boats going by, and sea lions on the rocks.) Our cocktail hour was held in the same area. The hotel staff moved chairs out and put in cocktail tables. It was done pretty seamlessly from what I hear. It turned out to be a really pretty location for cocktail hour. Note, there's a terrace that is along the water (south side of the building) you "might" be able to use only if there isn't another wedding reception going on in the Pacific Ballroom. Our reception was held in the Bayside Ballroom - amazing views of the water, Redondo pier and the PV Peninsula.

On wedding day, the hotel provided the Harbor Room for my bridesmaids and I to use (pretty much all day until about 7p). It was wonderful! We ordered breakfast and they had it setup for us with a large round table and had high tables set up with high chairs for hair and makeup. And they provided garment racks for us to hang the wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses. All super helpful! The room also has a lot of natural light which helps the hair and makeup team and has a restroom (no shower) so a very functional space. Also useful for the bridal party who didn’t stay at the hotel, they were able to keep their personal things in there. Room has a room key, so it’s like having a private extra room for the day. It was a great addition to our package esp. since it had so much room for all the ladies and family come in and out...and definitely a bonus because we didn't have to pay extra for it.

We did most of the bridal party pictures in hidden garden areas along the hotel. Family wedding photos were taken in the "Living Room" through the lobby. It's very elegant and takes great photos. The only thing was it was quite popular and we had to wait to use it. There was another couple getting married that day (they married off-site and had their reception in the Pacific Ballroom) and they were using the Living Room after they were back from their ceremony. (Our wedding coordinator was great in stepping in to let them know we were waiting to use it and they were very courteous.) We knew there would be another couple getting married that day, but we were assured the "Brides" would not see each other. At the end of the day, it was not an issue. Funny thing, there was actually a 3rd bride who was at the hotel waiting for the Living Room for photos (she did not get married there or had their reception there...they were at a venue nearby). From what the hotel told us, the hotel is popular for brides to stay, prep, and take photos. So don't be surprised if you run into more than 1 other bride there. It will still be your special day no matter how many other brides you run into.

Now to the wedding reception and the food...We were able to taste the selections before making them at a showcase the hotel offered. The hotel invites couples getting married there to come and taste the different dishes (including cake, yum!) and meet vendors. I met two other brides there and we kept in touch to exchange ideas and vendor contacts. The showcase was a great resource so definitely sign up and go! Just make sure the food they have you taste is within your package. We ended up going to two showcases because the first one they didn't serve us any of the options from the platinum package. Though what they did serve us, (from the silver and gold package) was just as good. After the second showcase, we ended up going with the strawberry/arugula salad, sorbet intermezzo, and option of the filet & lobster or sea bass. (Vegetarian is always a third option.) Everyone loved the food. I can't pinpoint the appetizers, because I forgot to try them, but we received a ton of compliments about them as well...including on the cake. We went with Hansen's bakery. The hotel gives you an option of two bakeries.

During dinner and with the speeches our guests in the very back couldn’t hear very well because of the music in the other ballroom. Prior, the hotel did make a point to tell us it would not be a problem with the sound, but turns out it was, but only during the speeches. So make sure your DJ or sound people do an extra check on that. Not a huge issue for us; by the time dancing came around, the sound was fine and everyone was dancing and having a great time.

Our wedding was incredible and The Portofino really did a great job in having it come out perfectly for us. I read several reviews about them prior to making our decision and actually spoke to someone who used to work there so we were very comfortable with making our decision. But I’m sure it all depends on who you have working with you. Shelley with the hotel was great and we were lucky to have wonderful vendors including our day of coordinator who was also on top of everything for us. The Portofino is definitely worth checking out if you’re in search of an amazing venue.

My husband and I grew up in the South Bay. This was the perfect venue because our family could stay there. We got ready in another room, and it was so easy and perfect. The view overlooking the ocean is beautiful, and it's private enough that you feel away from everything.

We had our honeymoon here! It was just beautiful. Magnificent view and everything was just perfect. Wonderful place!!!

The Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club makes a beautiful location for a wedding reception or any other special event. My husband and I had our reception at one of the hotel's ballrooms right on the water. Although the room was L-shaped (a bit awkward, since 1/2 of your guests won't be able to see the other 1/2 during the reception), two walls of the ballroom consisted entirely of windows, so you always have a picture-perfect view of the harbor.

The catering manager, Travis, was very helpful and responsive to our needs. He was a pleasure to work with.

All of our guests thought the meal served at our reception (prime rib or some kind of meat) was delicious and cooked perfectly. The portions were also considerably large. If you book your reception here, you will get a free wedding cake from one of the 2 vendors the Portofino works with directly.

Absolutely amazing! It's hard to believe we ever considered places like Verandas and La Venta when it should have been SO obvious from the start that the Portofino was the perfect place for our wedding reception. We were blown away by our experience there.

From my very first call with Lisa to our final goodbye on the day after the wedding, she was an absolute all-star. She helped us come up with a perfect, affordable brunch menu (if you're doing a mid-day reception-- don't even think about lunch! Everyone LOVED the brunch and said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had), gave us great leads on vendors, and gave us so much confidence that our reception would go off without a hitch. She even helped me bustle my dress when I arrived at the ballroom-- talk about going above and beyond!

The Bayside Ballroom was spectacular, and it was the perfect size for our 100 guests. The brunch included a chef making chocolate chip pancakes, french toast, and belgian waffles to-order... along with a buffet line of all sorts of other delicious breakfast foods. Everything was fantastic.

One of the best parts of having our reception at the Portofino was that we got to sail away from our wedding! We had some friends sail us off into the sunset on their boat as all our guests lined the wall outside of the ballroom to wave goodbye. It was a very special "exit".

We were treated to 5-star service that night at the hotel, as well (the room is included if you have your wedding there). Everyone really went out of their way to make us feel special and accommodated (on a very busy Valentine's Day, no less!).

The only reason I gave them 4.5 stars for service instead of 5.0 was because the hotel accidentally gave my sister-in-law the wrong cake top and she didn't notice until she was halfway back to SF. The Portofino is planning on giving us a replacement for our 1st anniversary, though :)

We had our reception at the Portofino in the large ballroom. Rosanna Harrison was our wedding planner there. She was very friendly and helpful with her advice. Even when I was changing my mind at the last minute. When those week-of-nerves were flaring, she was right there with good advice to calm me down.

The view is stunning at this place. We had a plated sit-down dinner and the food was amazing. A selection of Chicken Cordon Blue or New York Strip with Scallops. A strawberry, red onion and raspberry vinaigrette salad to start and I think there was a sorbet intermezzo, but I missed that and even our cake because I was talking with guests.

They let us handle the bar in a very specific way. We did the cocktail hour with tray past and plated hourderves, open bar of beer and wine and cash for liquor. Then we closed the open bar during dinner as there was a champagne toast and then opened it up for another hour after dinner. It remained open for cash after that.

It was beautiful. The only small complaint was that as the night wore on there was no more servers or any staff. It was really hot in there during the dance set and no one was available to ask to open the big beautiful windows. That was really not a huge issue, but I would recommend to have them open the windows for you in advance ; )

I highly recommend this venue. Rain sold us on the venue and made sure our specific requests such as having vegetarian food come into reality. Rain and Sierra were friendly, professional, on time, and made sure to update any changes that were requested from us. The food was phenomenal and Paco made our night extra special. Overall the hotel, the reception, and the ceremony went over our expectation!

We had our wedding here at The Portofino Hotel & Marina by Redondo Beach. Rain, who was our manager was very responsive and accommodated to all our requests. Highly recommend Rain and The Portofino as your venue to host your special day. Our guests loved the food and drinks and the execution on the wedding day was exceptional.

An amazing wedding would not be amazing if the venue did not match suit. This was not the case with the Portofino Hotel as they were the perfect venue and host for our wedding ceremony. As soon as we took a tour of the venue with Rain, one of their coordinators, we knew at that moment that the Portofino would be our wedding venue. Everything about the Portofino checked off all of the boxes we had when we were looking for a ceremony site – beautiful decor, amazing staff, and a place that felt magical. Rain, himself, was an absolute blast to work with. He was very detailed and answered all of our questions fully. He truly cared about our wedding, and wanted to make sure that the Portofino did not disappoint. Without Rain and the Portofino Hotel, we would not have had our fairytale wedding, and we will recommend them to anyone who is in need of a storybook wedding!

We were so happy that we were able to book the Portofino Hotel and Marina for our wedding in February. From our first site visit, we were charmed by the gorgeous views of the ocean, beach, and rocks (while avoiding the troublesome sand) as well as the elegant ballroom with windows that let the sunset and lights of Palos Verdes create a magical environment for a wedding. Kim Coulehan, the catering sales manager, was very helpful throughout the process of planning the wedding and it definitely helped to reduce our stress that everything except the florist, officiant, and DJ were included in the package - even the cake! The service was great (we received multiple compliments about the bartenders’ cocktails), the food was delicious, and our guests were extremely impressed. Kim was a life-saver when we were worried that our seaside lawn outdoor ceremony would have heavy rain and helped to arrange at the last second for a beautiful tent to be set up on the lawn the night before! She was able to coordinate seamlessly with the tenting company and when the weather cleared up, they were able to cater to our needs by opening the front and back of the tent to allow everyone to enjoy more of the beautiful scenery. We cannot recommend the Portofino highly enough!

This venue is purely gorgeous! My out of town (and local) guests were in awe of the view and overall elegance of both the ceremony and reception sites.
Lisa is fantastic! She is responsive and accommodating.
My only concern was what happened to the extra cake and extra food after the wedding. The coordinator saved the top layer of cake for us. But we knew a lot of people did not eat cake and we were surprised none was given. We also ordered additional food which was left. Also did not receive that.
Tip for future couples: Purchase to-go bags and ask for extra food ahead of time!

The rooms are nice, but my guests did have some issues which all ended up to be taken care of. The Crowne and Redondo Beach Hotel are within a ten minute walk too.

I recently held my wedding at the Portofino hotel and my experience could not have been better. The location is stunning, the food was amazing, and the service was great. They really know what they are doing when it comes to weddings. Our banquets rep was Lisa Fleming, and she really went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing experience. From the start, she presented us with many different wedding packages ranging from very basic to all-inclusive to make sure we had the wedding we wanted with the budget we had. We settled on an all-inclusive package that included food, a one-hour unlimited bar, gorgeous table settings with chiavari chairs, champagne, a cheese spread for cocktail hour, and more. From there we added on some hors d'oevures, a hosted bar, and got outside vendors for flowers, music and officiant, and just like that, we had a wedding! During the past year, Lisa answered every question I had about the wedding process ASAP, helped us with our day-of timeline, hosted our food tasting, and even coordinated our rehearsal and ceremony! They even ordered custom linens and provided patio heaters and paper lanterns for an additional fee. The process was so easy because the Portofino and Lisa are truly wedding experts and want to make sure we had the best day imaginable. Many of our guests said that our wedding was the best they had ever been to. Not to mention that waking up with an ocean view room the next day was a great way to kick off our new marriage. I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants a stress-free and unforgettable experience. Thank you to everyone at the Portofino, and especially Lisa for everything!

This was an amazing venue. It was beautiful and had a great view of the water. The planner and the staff were very professional and helpful.

The room that we used to get ready (Redondo Room) was perfect and the Bayside Ballroom was perfect for the reception.

The actual wedding area (next to the Ballroom) seemed small at first, but it nicely fit 100 chairs (and cam apparently fit more) and looked AMAZING.

We chose the Portofino because of its good value and beautiful scenery. They recently renovated and we liked the charm of its hotel area, the nice grassy area near the bay where the ceremony was held, and the traditional and large ballroom. It was a beautiful area and all our guests remarked how gorgeous it was.
The only thing was that there was a lot of staff turnover (we had 4 wedding coordinators) and the one that was assigned to us just joined 2 weeks before the wedding. We wish there was a little better communication also between them and the DJ - the bridal entrance was a little delayed due to some confusion.
But overall, the logistics went pretty smoothly and everyone was responsive and helpful.

Initially, we were going to use the Portofino for strictly Reception purposes, but then decided to use them for both the ceremony and reception. We're glad we chose them!

Located in Redondo beach right across the water, the big huge windows for the ballrooms offers a lot of natural lighting as well as serene view of the water. You have the option of having your ceremony at the pool, but we chose a ballroom instead.

Our catering manager Abigail was the best! She was accessible, flexible, friendly, and professional! She answered emails and phone calls in a timely manner and didn't mind having to answer the 1,000s of questions I had! You can't complain about that kind of service at all. Plus, the hotel staff were very courteous and polite! Not to mention, the wait staff during the reception was quick and friendly too!

I would select the Portofino to host another event!

I really like Kim at the resort, she is very kind and helpful, providing us a lot of flexibility and help for our big wedding day. All the stuff there are friendly and professional. It's a decent drive from Wayfarers Chapel (Reception place). Compared with several venues of surroundings, this one stand out to be the best deal!

The Portofino Hotel was the perfect place for our wedding reception, and also for our out of town guests to stay. The reception hall was very comfortable and beautiful. The rooms have windows, which allows you to take advantage of having a southern California wedding, both in the day-time, as well as the beautiful views at night. The wedding staff was very helpful in the planning stages, and the day of was really nice. The hall looked beautiful, the food was delicious, and the staff was very responsive. We couldn't have been happier, and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the venue as unique and not a 'large generic' wedding venue.

We looked at a few difference places to have our wedding at. We selected the Portofino since we both grew up in the south bay. We had our wedding on a Sunday which was much cheaper than a Friday or Saturday. The food tasting was great and they let us pick 3 proteins if we made all the plates have the same starch. Nice trade off if you ask me. The ballroom was set up and ready for us at 9am and my wedding didn’t start until 5pm. They offer changing rooms for the bride and a free night stay for the bride and groom the night of the wedding. The staff is amazing! Shelley was organized, on time, and very responsive. Josh was great at making sure the last details of the event were correct. We did a walk through of the ballroom with Jeorge. He was great at where things should be placed in the room and what would work best for our flow. Overall it was a great place, very helpful along the way. We would have another event there in a second.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was at the Portofino. My daughter was supposed to get married in August of '20. Well, Covid crashed those plans. We rescheduled for the Spring of '21. And Covid continued to cause havoc. The date was rescheduled a 3rd time, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and the team in the Conference office (Rain, Mary, and Chris) could not have been more gracious in allowing us to work under our original contract and adapt our plans to make the day perfect. While I was a frazzled mess, Rain pulled it all together for us, including lots of last-minute tweaks on our end. From the great vibe and great views at the hotel, to our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception on the docks at Baleen, to the beautiful outdoor site for the wedding, and a scenic sunset and reception in the conference center with the deck overlooking the ocean - everything was top notch. The food - fabulous. The servers & bartenders - wonderful, funny, and extremely helpful, the dance floor - let's just say what happened at the Portofino stays at the Portofino. Between the Covid fatigue and everyone finally feeling like they could gather and cut loose, we had a blast! Thanks so much to the team at the Portofino - if I ever had another special event, I wouldn't hesitate to have it there (hint, hint to my single son)!

We recently held our wedding reception at Portofino Hotel. Not only was the location beautiful with a beautiful day time and night time view of Redondo Beach Pier and the Palos Verdes Peninsula from the ballroom, but the food was so tasty! All our guests were raving about the hors d'oeuvres (lamb pops, cheese lumpias), dinner (steak, seabass) and the view from the ballroom. We mostly dealt with Shelley and Rain from catering and both very responsive especially when there were several changes we wanted to make to our banquet order last minute. During our menu tasting Shelley was very helpful in giving us guidance and advice on the flow of our events and also how we could set up our cocktail hour to allow guests the most comfortable experience. We also really appreciated Rain's help in setting up additional orders to our event beyond the scope of just food/ballroom setup. This venue is beautiful and the pricing was a great deal for the location/space/services.

Such a beautiful wedding venue. I knew from the moment I found this venue online, this would be the one. When I toured the venue, it sealed the deal. I planned my wedding from Oregon, so the fact that this venue came with everything all packaged made my life super easy. The color scheme of the inside of the hotel is so gorgeous and calming; it makes for great photographs! Also, the food is top notch! The filet mignon is to die for! The Portofino came through with delivering my dream wedding.

We loved staying at the Portofino for our honeymoon night! Absolute beautiful boutique hotel, great service and staff. A little expensive but worth it for an ocean view room!

The service, quality of our banquet hall, the view, and the food at the Portofino were incredible. My fiance and I fell in love with this place once we heard the sea lions serenading us. We were determined to hold our wedding reception. Because of our off-season wedding, I believe we got away with a lot of flexibility, that may not usually be available to many couples. i.e. getting the room ready the day before, pricing, etc. The only area where I would like to see an improvement is the responsiveness of the catering and event manager. While I recognize that they cater to many events, I think they could improve on response time to e-mails or phone calls.

Regardless, Portofino, thank you for hosting a beautiful location for my reception!

We had a few problems with the person who we dealt with at first, but once they resolved this and had someone else take care of our contract we couldnt be happier. The setting is so elegant and pretty and everyone really enjoyed themselves all night long.

I searched high and low for the perfect wedding venue, and my husband-to-be was about ready to kill me from all the appointments we had come to in search of are future venue. Nothing was right, either the ballroom too small for our guest count, the location's logistics weren't realistic, or the price just wasn't in our budget. I was on a mission to find the perfect venue to fit our vision.
When we stepped into the Portofino we KNEW it was the one! The pricing was just BEARLY over our budget, so we setted and figured we would save the extra few hundred dollars because we were so in love with the Portofino. The hotel itself is just beautiful, and makes for incredible pictures and great scenery for your guests if they are staying there. The rooms are so adorable as well, very clean and nautical feel. Fit perfetly with our beach/tropical themed wedding.
At this point we were finished and waiting until we got closer to the date, and when we did The Portofino really nailed it with detail on the wedding day. I was anxious because I had no idea what the wedding day was supposed to be like or what happens in what order or what goes where and who puts what where and all of the above yaddah yaddah yaddah.....(yes I am a virgo and want everything perfect) and they really eased my mind when we went through the wedding day together. They touched every question I had and handled everything!! They really made me feel comfortable and confident that the day would run smooth. I would recommend The Portofino venue for any wedding for a beautiful view, wonderful service, and great value for what you get. They were always accomodating if I wasn't 100% satisfied and they really followed through with everything. The space is fantastic for any size wedding and the food is wonderful. The staff is helpful, nice and always willing to go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Thank you guys for makiing my dream wedding come true!!! =)

We had our wedding at the Portofino Hotel in October 2019 and the hotel will always bring me such happy memories. The views from the ceremony/reception are unforgettable, true nostalgia when I think back to them now. Staying at the hotel during our weekend was magical too, with the views of the ocean from our bridal room. The sunset on our evening from the ballroom was breathtaking! I loved that we had a large bridal suite to get ready in, which is part of the wedding package. All of our wedding photos are so beautiful in the setting, the ceremony to reception are wedding blog worthy. I am SO happy we chose this location for our big day. Working with Tamar on our big weekend was a pleasure as well, he was so helpful and felt like part of our wedding family!

Portofino is not cheap, but they were willing to negotiate with us and I appreciated that. The food on the night of our wedding was perfect, it was so good, and is worth the higher price tag. The service was great on our wedding night, everything went smoothly. The ambiance of the venue and service is true class.

I worked with Rain the majority of the year prior to our wedding. He was very helpful with questions I had, although response time wasn’t always ideal. I realized however that this is because they cater to those whose weddings are closest, which makes sense. As soon as our big day was around the corner, Rain was there to answer any of our questions immediately and walk us through all the payments/banquet order events form.

The hotel did have a few issues with our requests (room service, room cleaning) which was upsetting. However, I let the meeting manager, that we secured our room block with, know this and she went out of her way to accommodate us for the inconvenience, which was greatly appreciated.

I do not have complains, I understand that things happen. However, there are three things that I wish I thought about prior to our event. 1. The ceremony location in proximity to the parking lot can be a problem. A car alarm went off during our ceremony, something we are still very sad about. The horn went on for about 5 minutes, into two different tones as well. There was nothing we could do to stop it, it was such an unfortunate moment, and it was right during our vows. We never thought twice about the location of the parking lot and the ceremony grounds prior to this but it is now something we wish we considered.

2. The ease of someone entering your event. We did not receive gifts from over 35% of our guests. At first we were upset but wrote it off. We then got word from a few family members/bridal party that there were three people that were dressed in street/baggy clothing, with large purses, that were loitering around our event. This was right in between the reception/ceremony, when everyone was running around trying to move décor and tables, etc. One of these tables was our present table. These folks were wandering around our area, moving over to the wedding next to us, and going inside the middle door that links the two reception halls, to use the bathroom. It was clear this wasn’t their first rodeo and they had bad intentions. We will never know if they took anything but the more we find out, the more suspicious it looks. My godfather had to ask one of the banquet staff to kick them out, in which they lied and said they were touring the venue (which would not be allowed during a wedding, when you have paid for the space for the day). I wish someone saw them sooner and got rid of them, it was very clear they did not belong. Another thing I did not think about prior to this happening.

I was VERY worried about people using the pathway around the lawn during the ceremony. It is incredible how rude people can be ha, during our wedding photos, people would walk right in front of the photographer, as if it wasn’t obvious with my wedding dress/groom in tux. Luckily, it wasn’t a problem during ceremony (two joggers almost ran through right before I walked down the aisle but were quickly stopped). I had my planner have her assistant stand guard around the building for extra security due to my worries.

Another worry of mine was hearing the other wedding next door during our speeches. This was no problem at all. I even asked our guest table that was near the back of the hall if they could hear the other wedding and they all said not one bit! (For reference, our wedding was on the seaside lawn and the bayside ballroom).

Lastly, my godparents shared wine with anyone staying in the hotel on the evenings leading up to the wedding. The Portofino accommodated us with glasses and let us all relax and visit in the lobby, which everyone loved. It was so nice to have that flexibility!

In conclusion, I would pick the Portofino again any day. I may have made more moves implementing a plan towards the issues I mentioned but looking back now, it is what it is. I love the Portofino, I love the staff we worked with, the hotel was beautiful and the wedding location was like no other. It fills me with so much joy looking back and I hope to stay at the Portofino for years to come to relive our big weekend. It is a very unique wedding location that should definitely be considered.
