    The one vendor you do not want to forgo due to budget is your wedding planner. This is an investment that pays dividends, plus more, especially if you hire Lucy. You plan your wedding for months or even over a year in advance; thus, you want to ensure you can enjoy that day (trust me, it will fly by due to the busy schedule alone) thus you want to ensure you have everything in place to enjoy that moment you deserve.

    Lucy is such a genuinely sweet individual who just has the purest intentions for you and your spouse. No words can describe her value, her work ethic and kind spirit. There was one moment where I was very nervous due to unhealthy family dynamics, and she picked up on it instantly and provided a moment of support that allowed me to remember I am safe. This is something she did not have to do, but just speaks volumes to her character.

    Lucy is extremely organized and ensured that I had everything finalized well in advance before the wedding. I have never planned a wedding before so it was nice to have a resource to ensure I, indeed finished everything. She had contacted all of my vendors for me, obtained all of their documents required by the venue, established the timeline, arranged each vendor's arrival times and locations, set up reserve signs for me at the ceremony, created a timeline for the bridal party, and so much more. She was able to tame our rambunctious bridal party. It was great. She has a variety of plans to fit your need and budget, so please inquire with Lucy.

    I think something important to note is that through all of the emails and channels of communication, she never missed one detail, and trust me, many things change the month and weeks before the wedding. But she did not miss one single thing.

    My husband and I are forever grateful to Lucy and her team. We would not have had the wedding of our dreams if it was not for Lucy. I hope you choose Lucy to be a part of your wedding. It will be the one decision you will find the most value in (besides marrying your spouse!) Happy wedding planning!

    Lucy is the absolute best!!

    Lucy was an amazing wedding planner. I barely lifted a finger from start to finish. She had great suggestions when it came to decor. She acquired every vendor for me. Everything was exactly how I pictured it. I couldn't have pulled it off without her!

    It was extremely easy to contact her via phone or email. I was able to schedule a meeting or a chat with her at any point during the planning process. She made sure that we didn't forget anything. She made sure that anything important to us was covered with ease.

    My husband and I will have the best memories forever because we decided to hire Lucy. I would highly recommend her to anyone!

    The very best

    If I could give 10 stars, I could. Working with Lucy was the best choice I made throughout the entire wedding process. I had no idea where to start with wedding planning and was very much overwhelmed, when the director at our venue recommended Lucy. She came highly regarded, and from the very beginning, I immediately understood why. She is the most organized, knowledgeable, and supportive wedding coordinator I could have imagined. Lucy is so good at her job that I really do not think I can do it justice through words. She is kind and understanding, diligent and communicative, and I will be thankful to Lucy for ensuring a smooth and amazing wedding day forever (the gratitude I have for her runs deep!!). Lucy will make your experience so, so, so much better. I am SO lucky to have worked with her.

    The best wedding coordinator ever

    I hired Lucy for the Month of Coordinator / Day of for our wedding at La Valencia on August 13, 2023. If you need a coordinator, do not hesitate to work with Lucy! She is amazing! Even if you are planning your wedding yourself like I did.. We had a short 6 month engagement so I did all the research for vendors and what type of set up I wanted.. There is so much more to planning and executing the perfect day than what I could do. You can buy all your decor, signs, organize vendors, but when it comes to the month of planning and the day of coordination, you will want to have Lucy by your side making sure everything goes well. She is exceptional at what she does. She does offer services for full blown wedding planning from start to finish which I didn't need but I know if you are interested in that, she would be amazing to have. Lucy is very organized, communicative and calming. My nerves were starting to get the best of me and she is so cool, calm, collected and that really helped me out on our wedding day. She was also amazing leading up to the wedding and communicated via email and text with me and answered all of my questions and gave me friendly reminders of things I needed to get to her. She communicated with all my vendors and took that stress off of me. It was amazing how she just seamlessly organizes everything to make your day perfect. She executed our day perfectly and didn't forget anything. My husband I loved working with her and on our wedding day my family met her and loved her as well. She really is the nicest and sweetest person. I highly recommend working with her for whatever type of wedding you are planning. :)

    Thank you Lucy for our PERFECT wedding!

    Hiring Lucy to coordinate our wedding is quite possibly the best choice we made throughout the entire planning process. She was incredibly communicative, supportive, patient and provided the guidance we needed while we sorted out the never ending details of our big day.

    Prior to the big day, she managed our full day's timeline, communication between our many vendors, kept me on track time wise, and managed to calm me down when certain aspects of planning caused me frustration.

    She was kind enough to make sure our ceremony rehearsal was straightforward and quick, leaving us to enjoy our rehearsal dinner and time with our friends and family the night before the wedding.

    On the morning of our wedding, Lucy made sure that everyone was where they needed to be, every detail was in order, nothing was misplaced or forgotten. She made sure that I drank and ate throughout the morning, decorated the entire reception area with the help of her assistant and the florist (everything was stunning and well beyond my expectations), rounded up my large family so that I got all the group family pictures I wanted, and ran back to our hotel room to grab things I had forgotten in all the chaos.

    If you are on the fence and think you may not need a wedding coordinator, save yourself the stress and hire Lucy. You will absolutely not regret it. You deserve a fun, beautiful, stress free day and she can help you achieve it! Our day was PERFECT and we owe so much of that to her. Thank you Lucy!!!

    Highly Recommend!!!

    Lucy is such a meticulous, kind, thoughtful, hard-working, personable and collaborative wedding planner that it is hard to write a review glowing enough to fully capture how pleased we were to work with her. Suffice it to say, that in whatever capacity, you’ll want her involved in your own wedding if you want to enjoy your day to the fullest. “Weddings are stressful” is the conventional wisdom. Incredibly less stressful with the assistance of a wedding planner as capable and skilled as Lucy Tan. She was adept at including everyone in the process while prioritizing our vision of the perfect wedding. Whenever we felt flustered, Lucy was calm and prepared with a solution at hand. The enjoyment of our wedding day by all in attendance was in no small part due to Lucy’s attentiveness. Additionally, she had great relationships with all of our vendors and the venue. They loved working with her as much as we did! We highly recommend working with Lucy Tan and the Perfect Knot!

    Excellent Coordinator!

    Lucy is an amazing wedding coordinator. She is extremely organized and attentive to every detail. Her ability to plan, anticipate, and manage the show made the lead up to and day of our wedding seamless.

    The wedding day was perfect - everything was on time and better than anticipated. Her ability to manage vendors, guests, family, as well as appear at the right place at the right time to guide us through the day made the entire day stress free and picture perfect. We couldn't have asked for more and highly recommend!

    Best wedding planner ever!

    QUEEN LUCY!! That is what all of my bridesmaids were calling her during our wedding weekend. From the start, Lucy has been so incredible. My husband and I had no clue where to start with planning a multi-day, multi-culture wedding and Lucy was soooo helpful. She took the time to think about budget-friendly ideas, went above and beyond with communication and speaking with our vendors, and was the reason everything ran so smoothly.

    Look no further--Lucy is the best!

    My husband and I are convinced that if we hadn't hired Lucy, our wedding would not have happened on the day and in the way we wanted. This is how essential her guidance, support and experience were to making our wedding possible in the midst of challenging and stressful family events. Even without these events, I highly recommend hiring a coordinator, especially for destination weddings.

    We live in Seattle but got engaged and planned our wedding in San Diego. As non-locals, it was critical to have someone with experience and local contacts to help us narrow down the vendors and options, which is undoubtedly one of the most time-consuming and overwhelming parts of the wedding planning. Lucy is experienced, focused, and attentive--she will listen and understand the couple's preferences, style, unique circumstances, budget, and will keep all of those factors in consideration throughout the planning phase and on the day of the wedding.

    We also very much appreciated that Lucy tried to come up with more cost-saving options and was incredibly helpful in guiding us regarding a million details and decisions given that we both came into the wedding planning pretty clueless. My then fiance and I had lots of questions in the beginning, later followed by many ideas --Lucy was key to helping us understand what was important and prioritize accordingly. She also beautifully and quickly incorporated all of our ideas into a wedding day timeline so that it flowed smoothly and perfectly. In addition to her great event planning skills, Lucy is a great person to work with: she's open, considerate, and kind and yet is ready to share her opinion and honest feedback when asked.

    On the day of, Lucy ran the show: she got everything well-coordinated and covered--from vendors, small and big details, timing, bridal party, guests, and us. I have no idea how she managed to be everywhere and keep an eye out on everything yet never being in the center of attention. Lucy truly made the wedding seem to flow effortlessly and perfectly, managing it all from behind the scenes. It is an impressive ability that we did not take for granted! Also, despite it being a SD wedding, it started pouring rain on our wedding day. While we were disappointed regarding the timing of the weather, I didnt worry at all about the ceremony (the location of which had to change since the rehearsal), because I knew that Lucy had a back-up plan in mind. It is hard to overstate how much of a difference it made to have Lucy by our side and running the day so that we could just let go, not look at the time, not stress about back-up plans and details, and instead be in the moment and enjoy our special day.

    We had a truly fantastic wedding despite the rain, resulting in a change of plans on the day of. Many of our guests noticed how well-planned our day was and we got tons of compliments about it being one of the most fun and enjoyable weddings they have ever attended. Lucy played a key role in making all that happen, and we are forever grateful.

    Where do I even begin? Lucy was an integral part of planning and executing our wedding. We hired her 7 months out from our wedding date and she helped us plan each step - from helping us with checklists, helping us find vendors, confirming all details, decorating - and most importantly being a source of emotional support through the stress of planning. Lucy is knowledgeable, organized, calm, and made our day feel effortless, even though I knew she was doing one million things behind the scenes. We loved working with her and would 10000% recommend her!

    Lucy is incredible!! Hiring Lucy was one of the best decisions we made. She took so much pressure off of wedding planning while I was away in another state for medical school. She coordinated everything down to the last detail. She was so sweet, professional, and amazing to work with!

    Lucy Lucy Lucy!!!

    Lucy was the absolute perfect wedding coordinator for our La Jolla Beach Wedding! We had to postpone the date several times due to the pandemic and Lucy was always so accommodating and adaptable. She was in communication with us every step of the way over the 1.5 years of planning and never failed to ease my nerves when various concerns arose. She truly thought of everything and I knew we were in good hands on our special day - we really couldn’t have gotten through wedding week without Lucy! I cannot recommend her enough!

    Lucy at The Perfect Knot is INCREDIBLE!!!

    First off, if you are on the fence about hiring a wedding coordinator, just do it! It doesn't matter if your wedding will be big or small, casual or fancy, in a back yard or on a yacht, I promise it will be the best investment you could make for your wedding! Secondly, HIRE LUCY!!! If I could give 100 stars I would! Lucy was incredible. From big picture plans to day of details, Lucy made things seamless on a day that many brides refer to as stressful!

    She made excellent recommendations, set up site visits and taste testing's, did all the follow up and gave insightful suggestions based on her experience that were game changers. Lucy had every "i" dotted and "t" crossed. She was so in tune with what we wanted for our day and she was able to bring it to life perfectly.

    I can't even begin to express my gratitude for all she did for our wedding. She was such a delight to work with, and we could not have been happier with the service she provided.

    If you’re reading this review, look no further for a wedding planner/coordinator. Seriously. Lucy did such an incredible job for our wedding in La Jolla a few weeks ago that I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone and everyone. My (now) husband and I live on the East Coast so we knew we needed to work with someone who was familiar with the area & vendors since most planning would occur remotely. Lucy recommended vendors to us that were within our budget and that she trusted. I cannot say enough positive things about all the vendors she recommended to us that we used (not to mention some of them were vendors that we likely would have never found ourselves by searching online).

    Lucy has a very even and steady demeanor that was perfect for us through the whole process – she has found the balance of being both a calming force, but also is steadfast in making sure everyone is on the same page and that everything is in place as it should be. We were able to visit for one long weekend prior to the wedding. Lucy attended vendor appointments with us and asked questions that I truly would have never thought to ask – down to how heavy certain appetizers felt in our hands in order to make sure they were easy for our guests to eat during cocktail hour (while at our catering tasting).

    On the day of the wedding, Lucy made sure we were all where we were supposed to be without stressing anyone out and was on top of everything. I’m sure there were things she handled that we don’t even know about, which is the true mark of an incredible wedding planner in my book! She also flawlessly handled take down so that we could continue to enjoy our day with our guests at the afterparty. Again, we couldn’t recommend her any more highly and if we had to do it all over again, we’d choose her every time!

    My husband and I live in New York City but wanted to plan our wedding in my hometown of San Diego. As we started our wedding planner search, we were mainly looking for someone who could be hands-on "on the ground," have good connections to vendors, and be highly communicative & organized. After our wedding this past month, we are so happy to report that Lucy was all of those things and more.

    We hired Lucy for full-service wedding planning and from the very start, we needed a lot of help finding a venue considering we wouldn't be in town for any of the process. We thought it would be impossible to get an oceanfront venue that matched our budget with a 6 month engagement, but within a few days Lucy had sent out dozens of emails & was fielding a thousand quotes. The wedding venue we chose in the end was beyond perfect and my (then) fiance & I agreed that selecting her was already proving well worth it in the first two weeks.

    Beyond that, she maintained a great amount of communication and organization for everything from major details (vendor selection) to tiny details (picking out easels). Thanks to her connections, we were able to negotiate some great deals that would have cost us far more if we were doing it ourselves. She consistently went above and beyond like driving to our preferred donut shop when she couldn't get in contact with them via email or telephone.

    She quickly understood our vision, what was important to us, what we were willing to save money on, and managed to bring everything together. The two things we appreciated the most was how she saved our inboxes by consolidating all of the research/vendor emails for us (we both have extremely demanding jobs) & made sure that no balls were being dropped. She did a great job of bringing things to attention only when they needed to be dealt with, so we could tackle little sections at a time. We truly can't imagine going through this wedding planning process from 3000 miles away without her.

    My wife Shannon and I got married at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla in January, 2017.
    Lucy from The Perfect Knot did a fabulous job coordinating our wedding, and I would recommend her without hesitation.
    Here are some reasons why:
    • Lucy’s services started 1 month prior to our wedding day. During that final month, she seamlessly handled and finalized all arrangements with our vendors, allowing us to disengage from the logistics and feel excited rather than overwhelmed as our big day approached.
    • She took the time to deeply understand our vision for aesthetics going into the event, and helped turn the vision into reality by working step-by-step with the florist, caterers and furniture rental crew for several hours on wedding day before the guests arrived.
    • Everything was discussed and written down on paper going into wedding day. This applied to both the ceremony - reserved family seating chart, exact order of wedding party members walking down the aisle, ceremony music (song, artist, and order), and it also applied to the reception – table numbering, order of speeches, exact time of cake cutting, etc.
    • She was our dedicated troubleshooter to deal with the inevitable day-of mishaps. We found out a month after the event that our beverage vendor only arrived with half our alcohol order. Lucy checked the delivery against our order sheet, and when she saw the discrepancy, she insisted that the delivery person leave and come right back with the balance of the order.
    Bottom line: 15 minutes before the ceremony, one of my friends noted that I seemed shockingly calm. I told him that besides knowing that I was marrying the right girl, it was because I knew we had hired an ace coordinator who had everything under control. And my confidence in her was 100% validated. Lucy nailed everything, and we owe a huge part of our successful day to her.

    Lucy is the best! Such a sweet professional to work with and seriously organized. She was a calming presence throughout our planning process. On the day of the wedding, we knew we had nothing to worry about. Thank you Lucy! We were married in September 2015 at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

    After meeting with other wedding coordinators, my husband and I decided to work with Lucy Tan of the Perfect Knot San Diego as our month-of coordinator. Lucy’s professionalism, clear, direct and concise communication style best fit our personalities and made us confident that she would have been able to handle any unforeseen wedding-day mishaps. In the months preceding our wedding Lucy promptly answered all the questions we had and provided us with several vendor recommendations to make our wedding-day vision come to life. Lucy met with us a month before our wedding to review our ceremony, reception and photoshoot timelines, music choices, and close any action items still open with our vendors. The meeting was of great help as we had not realized how many hair/makeup, ceremony, bouquet toss and speeches details needed to be finalized before our big day. In the following weeks Lucy made several suggestions to improve both our ceremony and reception timelines, and continued to tweak them according to our last-minute requests. She also contacted one last time all our vendors and took great care to ensure that our big day at La Valencia was flawless. During our rehearsal she made sure all the members of our wedding party had a chance to practice their entrance until they were completely comfortable with it. On our wedding day everything ran so smoothly we only had to worry about enjoying it. Lucy coordinated the arrival of all our vendors, found somebody who could help my husband avert a bowtie crisis, helped our musician getting setup and directed our guests as necessary. We did not have to keep track of time as Lucy and her assistant made sure we were where we were supposed to be without making us feel rushed, and allowing us to fully enjoy every moment of our very special day. We couldn’t be happier with how the day went. Lucy was fabulous and we highly recommend her for your wedding day!

    We hired The Perfect Knot for full planning and coordination of our April 2015 wedding. Hiring Lucy was the best money we spent o and the best decision we made. Lucy was so fabulous and her execution so seamless, that multiple women at the wedding asked for her card (and some of them were not even engaged). Lucy kept us happy, on budget, and sane. There is no better wedding planner than Lucy Tan. If you are going to hire a wedding planner, do yourself a favor and hire Lucy.

    In terms of budget, Lucy got us amazing deals on all of our vendors. Every vendor that Lucy recommended gave us a discount because of her personal relationships with them. In total, we saved more money than the full planning services cost based on just the discounts Lucy negotiated. And because of Lucy’s amazing resources, we came in under budget despite adding 30 people to the guest list last minute. Lucy also set up and attended all of our vendor appointments to make sure we were completely happy and asking all the right questions. Also, all of the vendors Lucy suggested were completely dependable and professional. We had no concerns or issues with any of the vendors and all of them praised Lucy’s coordination and organization.

    Any time a question, change or problem came up, Lucy handled it immediately and efficiently . For two busy people, that was an amazing asset. Lucy was always available and reachable. But she was able to take a ton of the work and pressure off of us through her own amazing organization and management.

    We’re so happy we stumbled upon Lucy on Yelp and loved working with her. We had a short time frame (< 5 months) to plan a medium-sized wedding (just over 100 guests). We both wanted a wedding, but didn’t want to plan it or deal with logistics, so we hired our miracle worker, Lucy, for full package planning. The initial reason we chose Lucy was because of her professionalism. After working with her, the reasons to hire her are too many to list. The biggest help she provided was in dealing with our constant indecisiveness and coordinating with vendors. We came in knowing only that we wanted a romantic atmosphere and vendors with top service. What we ended up with was a wedding that we’re constantly getting compliments for, especially about how nicely it came together. We asked for advice on so many different things (dress, invitations, cake, etc.), and Lucy always responded quickly with helpful suggestions. As with any big project, there were hiccups along the way, but Lucy always found a solution. Day of, we didn’t have to worry about a single thing, except enjoying ourselves! We don’t even want to think about how stressful the last 5 months would’ve been without her.     Lucy is truly amazing!!!! We hired her to be our "day of coordinator" and we just can't say enough good things about her! We live in Tucson but decided to get married at the Prado after falling in love with Balboa Park. Initially we did not think we needed a coordinator but after we found all the vendors, we realized we had to have someone to direct everyone and take the pressure off of us. Thanks to Lucy we really got to enjoy our wedding day!!!! She did so much more than just one day's worth of work. She developed the timeline, made very helpful suggestions. and kept in touch with all of our vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page. We were DIY when it comes to flowers and Lucy came in early to help us arrange all the centerpieces. She found all the place cards, party favors, and other decor that we brought with us before we even got to tell her where we put them. She stayed calm the entire time, which really put everyone at ease, especially the bride:). We were all very impressed by her professionalism. She made our wedding go so smoothly and we received tons of compliments on how well organized everything was.

    We can't say enough positive things about our experience with Lucy! I am so happy we worked with her and would recommend her again and again! I chose Lucy after reviewing and speaking with several other coordinators. We live in Arizona and it was hard to book a contract with someone that you haven't yet met in person, but right of the bat Lucy was so professional and easy to work with that it set our minds at ease. We only booked 'Day Of' services, but her assistance went so far above and beyond just Day Of. She was there for our rehearsal the night before (at no extra charge!) and she had such a great way of keeping everything moving and under control while still being friendly and fun. On the morning of the wedding, I was texting her last-minutes things I had forgotten about but she was already on top of it and had taken care of it! The ceremony and reception ran so smoothly and I didn't have to think about anything because she took care of everything! And, it didn't stop there! Lucy found out we were honeymooning in England at the sister hotel of the one she used to work at so she made some calls and when we arrived, we were blown away to find rose petals, balloons, champagne and chocolates waiting in the room. She also helped us arrange reservations for afternoon tea at her old hotel and had them present us with a special dessert, as well. If we could rate higher than 5-stars we would, because Lucy was really the key to our day being as wonderful as it was. Thank you so much, Lucy!!

    Lucy is Fantastic! A true professional!

    We had the pleasure of her being our day-of wedding coordinator (she truly did the work of a 2 week coordinator) and thanks to her meticulous planning, attention to detail and expertise in crisis management (trust me, things happen) our wedding was stress free and had our guests commenting on how effortless the whole day seemed.

    I was a DIY bride and I relied heavily on Lucy to set up everything at our wedding. She had the unique ability to understand what I was looking to achieve with my wedding theme and I was blown away by how great the reception looked on the night - you can definitely trust her to take concept to reality.

    Our wedding was during the recent heat wave and provided a great example of Lucy's ability to read a situation. Given the heat everyone was drinking much faster than normal and it was evident that the beer and wine was going to run out early. Not wanting to put undue stress on me, she spoke with my husband to come to an arrangement to go out and grab some more beer/wine - lifesaver!

    I would recommend her to anyone and everyone looking for a coordinator that will not only whip your bridal party into shape but also have you feeling safe in the knowledge that everything is going according to plan. In fact one of my friends is now using her for her own wedding later in the year and I can't wait to thank her AGAIN in person!
