The Oscar Event Center Reviews

We had our wedding reception at the Oscar last weekend and it was fabulous! The attention to detail by Josie Fickes, our wedding coordinator, in accomplishing our theme of elegant, rustic Italian and intimate group seating was perfect! I can't say enough about how professional, kind and responsive Josie was in making our vision come true! The menu selection is delicious. It will be hard to decide what you want. Our selections were delicious. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was. I have to comment on how nice it is to work with a coordinator that knows all the other vendors in the area to help you achieve your theme and have the best night you can for your guests. Additionally, the servers were excellent and really made your guests feel special. They go out of their way to help and attend to everyone! Thanks again Josie and Oscar staff, our reception was even better than we imagined!

Our experience with the Oscar Event Center was just outstanding. We had a six-hour reception with approximately 250 guests. We could not be happier with our choice to work with OEC for our wedding day. We, and our guests, are still talking about the space, the food, and the service.

Space - it is large, comfortable, and extremely well-kept. The large ballroom for dinner/dancing and separate space for cocktail hour (comfortable chairs & couches!), outdoor terrace and pub area gave our guests so much space to enjoy themselves, take a seat, get a drink or catch some fresh air. We had a "head table" of 24 --- wedding party plus their guests, and with 8 guests to each round table, no one was squished and you could actually walk between the tables! There was plenty of room for dancing and a band - and the acoustics are much better here than in some older venues.

Food/drink - for dinner, we selected the International Food Stations with Italian, Asian, African & an "American" carving station. Every single thing was delicious. Even with 250+ people, our guests moved through the "line" (but there was never a line!) surprisingly fast and enjoyed the opportunity to try many different styles of cuisine. Dinner conversation was extra exciting as folks compared dishes. OEC offers a variety of different drink options - you can have an open bar without paying "per hour" which saves a lot of money (even for drinking crowds, which we were) since the bar just keeps a tab based on what actually gets consumed. We worked with Dianna in the Event Center and Ed in the store to select wines in the same price range as the house wines but that were a bit more unique.

Service - Leading up to the wedding, we worked with Dianna, who quickly responded to phone calls & emails and happily met with us numerous times. The bar & serving staff were extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. At the end of the evening, a member of the serving staff stopped me to compliment me on the event!

We found out Jungle Jims did florals by accident. We live very close and are Facebook friends with them. We contacted them and they provided us all the information necessary to select our flowers. We only used them for the ceremony flowers, bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres...etc. The reception flowers we did ourselves. Our flowers were beautiful and just what we wanted. The price was very reasonable and they were delivered in plenty of time, marked appropriately for distribution. Great experience!

We held our son's rehearsal dinner at the Oscar Station on 10-20-23. The food, staff and coordinator were amazing and of course, the space really fit our needs. The staff was welcoming , processional and accommodating. Josie was our coordinator, and she was so easy to work with. She even made sure my selections would fit the needs of our guests, without wasting food. She offered creative insights which I appreciated, to help me envision what the space could be transformed to. She helped with cocktail and dinner music selections, which enabled the guests to chat with each other. By offering me options on seating arrangements, decorations, food and beverage selections, she helped make this an easy task for me, as mother of the groom. Guests raved about the space and food. I recommend Oscar station, as the coordinator, staff, food and guest experience were perfect.

We were first surprised to learn about the Oscar Event Center with their relation to Jungle Jim's International Market. We were absolutely blown away when we took our first tour, and knew this was the place that we wanted to have our reception. Throughout the entire planning process, Riley, Josie, Narnia, took all of the pressure and stress away from us and helped answer every question that we had along the way. This included communicating with our vendors to get all of the details planned out so we didn't have to worry about the coordination aspect of getting everyone there on the wedding day. Our guests loved how kind everyone was at Oscar and how quick they were to answer any requests throughout the night. My husband and I would recommend the Oscar Event Center to anyone looking for an amazing venue to truly make it an experience for your guests! Another fun detail is that we had the opportunity to take some pictures in the wine cellar at Jungle Jim's prior to the reception which was really fun and a special memory that we will have for years to come! Again we cannot recommend Oscar Event Center highly enough and would gladly work with the amazing team again!

The Oscar Event Center was absolutely perfect for our wedding! The space is beautiful and has so much unique character. Our guests were raving about the reception space. Amber and Katie were wonderful to work with and made everything go so smoothly. They were very attentive to our wishes for our wedding reception and created the perfect day for us. They took care of all decorating and set up/tear down the day-of so we didn't have to worry about anything. This eliminated last minute stress. The food and drinks were amazing, our guests kept commenting on how good the food was. The wait staff was exceptional and were even taking drink orders for our guests. I cannot imagine having our wedding reception anywhere else!

My husband and I were just married this weekend. This venue...was amazing!! We live in Indianapolis, but because Jungle Jim's has been the location for many of our dates, engagement, and many "cheesy" memories we decided to get hitched in the Oscar Center. We love that it's connected to Jungle Jim's. However, this venue is unique and extremely gorgeous with cool details around every corner. Katie, the event coordinator, kept everyone in line, on task, and ensured a great time and made MY day much more enjoyable! She and her staff handled all our quirkiness and improv with stride. I could rave forever on how easy she made this for us! The food...AMAZING! We had spinach artichoke stuffed chicken, braised beef, green beans, and potatoes. Everyone is still talking about the cuisine! Looks like Jungle Jim's and the Oscar Event Center have 90 or more new customers! Thanks for everything, Katie and Staff!! You're the best!

I just had my daughter's wedding at the Oscar. It was amazing! Katie was unbelievable!!!!! The rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, and the reception were all held there and everything was perfect! The staff, the venue, and the food is top notch!!!!! I couldn't be happier with our experience at the Oscar!!!!!!!!

I wanted to take a quick moment and give you some feedback about our fabulous reception on Saturday.

Steve was our main man, he was positive, polite, attentive, and made sure all of my wants needs and ideas about the evening were answered. He never let me worry about anything and waited until I was alone before asking/addressing upcoming issues. He helped keep me on track time wise and helped game plan to make sure everything we needed was taken care of, and we did everything we had wanted and planned to do.

Everyone on the staff was so polite and everyone raved over the service! People said they hadn’t even put their drink down and the waiters were there to refill it. No one went empty handed, the staff memorized guests drink orders and felt as if they had their own personal waiter. They loved how beautiful and unique the venue was, the lighting, the space, the balcony, everything beautiful. Many said this was the best reception they’ve been to, best compliment we could receive.

The FOOD! OMG the food! I wish I would have been able to eat more of it. I didn’t even see the hors o’euvres, but I’m sure they were fabulous, I didn’t get to try the Salmon, I should have juts asked for another plate, but who had the time. The salad dressing, the flavor of the salmon, the crab meat melted in your mouth. Even the size and taste of the chicken fingers, many parents told me at the end of the evening that they would have been happy with the kids meal. The portions were unbelievable, so large and filling

We stopped at Jungle Jim's on the way south to our Gatlinburg wedding, intending to pick up the champagne and some exotic groceries for our honeymoon. While shopping, we noticed the 8" cakes they had in the bakery. The Bailey's Irish Cream & Chocolate cake caught my eye because it was frosted in all white and covered in edible glitter. Suddenly it struck me that it would make a perfect mini wedding cake for our elopement. (I had priced wedding cakes in Gatlinburg, but I wasn't willing to pay $65 (!!!) for an 8" wedding cake.) They boxed one up for us and we stuck it in the cooler. Two days later we took off (and ate, yum) the decorative chocolate wafers on top, added a little bride and groom topper and it was our wedding cake. It was beautiful and absolutely delicious. The champagne and all the special treats we picked up at Jungle Jim's really made our wedding and two-day honeymoon special.

The absolute best and better than I could have imagined! My husband and I went to look at about 5 different venues before going to OEC. The second we walked out of there, we both looked at each other and just knew that we were supposed to be married there. The pictures on-line do not do this place justice! I almost didn't even look into OEC, because it looked too fancy/out of our price range. However, I promise it is not! There are so many intricacies that make this place special and unique from any other venue that you will see! Everything was beyond perfect, and people are still telling my husband and I that our wedding was the best that they had ever been to. I know for a fact that it is due to the amazing people at OEC! Dianna and her staff are absolutely top of the line. They are organized, professional, and do everything to ensure that you are well taken care of throughout the process and especially on your special day! The food is the best out there! We had about 200 people at our wedding and the quality of food that was given to our guests was impeccable! They are still talking about how wonderful the food was, the best they had ever had (and not even just for a wedding), etc. We had the miso glazed filet and stuffed chicken with a smoked gouda sauce as our two main dishes. Phenomenal! The appetizers were also delicious! We used the Jungle Jim’s bakery for our cake/cupcakes, and people were eating them for breakfast the next day and talking about how yummy they were! We also had out ceremony at OEC which worked out perfectly. The staff was able to turn things over quickly and get everyone seated for dinner. However, the cocktail hour was so fabulous and the venue so beautiful that people said they would have waited longer with no problem! Everything about Oscar is just outstanding, and I cannot thank Dianna and her staff enough for helping my husband and I to have a wedding celebration better than we could have ever imagined!

Simply amazing! The people at the Oscar Event Center provided superb guidance in planning our daughter’s wedding reception as well as delivering outstanding food, service and venue. Our guests greatly enjoyed the space and we received hundreds of complements on the international food offerings, friendliness of the staff and the excellent bar service. The space provides one with the opportunity to host a cocktail hour in the space outside of the main ballroom, thus encouraging your guests to mingle and relax. The food was wonderful! The space looks amazing when set for a reception. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. A fantastic venue.

I was lucky enough to have my ceremony and reception at the Oscar Event Center. The ceremony and reception were perfect and the staff really worked together to create an amazing event for us. Prior to the wedding I worked with Dianna, who was so helpful in answering all my questions and provided ideas and suggestions for food and etc. She was so helpful to work with.
On the day of my wedding, I worked with Patty, who was such a pleasure to work with. She made sure everything happened smoothly and on time! Honestly, they worked as my "wedding planners" on the day of, and I wouldnt have been able to do it without them!
The venue is such a unique and amazing location for a wedding. We had 150 guests, and it was the perfect size for us in the South Hall and Pub! I absolutely wouldnt change a thing about our venue! The staff, the location, the bathrooms....were all perfection! I'm so glad I booked them for my special day!

This venue was amazing. They did our ceremony and reception, and were incredibly accommodating, affordable, and professional. The service itself was excellent, the food was DELICIOUS, and Dianna, the manager, was very confident and reassuring. Things ran incredibly smoothly and everything was undisputedly perfect! Everyone had a wonderful time and I highly recommend the Oscar for prospective brides!!

To say we were satisfied with the Oscar Event Center as our reception site is an understatement. At first we didn't think we could afford it, but after shopping around and comparing prices to places where we would have to do all the set up and decorating we realized how reasonable the price was. The space was already beautiful and there was no additional charge for the Oscar staff to put out our favors and do other decorating that we wanted. We used the bakery and florist at Jungle Jim's for our cake and flowers; not having to worry about those being delivered on time was a huge relief! The food was amazing. We wanted to have a Filipino noodle dish on the menu. The chef called us in for multiple taste tests until he got it just right. We couldn't have asked for better service. The staff were always available when we needed them. Some of my favorite photos of me and my bridesmaids were actually in the Oscar bathroom - seriously! If you haven't seen the bathroom, go visit and you will see what I mean. We also had our engagement photos shown on the Jungle Jim's digital sign out by the road that day. All in all, we were so glad that we chose the Oscar event center.

Highly recommend! The staff went above and beyond for us. Great value as well. They are awesome!

The value and quality of the food trays we had at our wedding was wonderful. All our guests enjoyed the meal and commented on how good the food was.

We could not have imagined a more wonderful night!!!! The wait staff was professional and polite, April the manager was amazing!! any and everything we needed she did way above and beyond.The food excellent, which was apparently odd according to my guest normally plated dinners are ok and luke warm! Their unique atmosphere that all of our guests continue to rave about was perfect for my wedding! My only complaint is Dianne Hood the coordinator is very update and told us some things that we wasn't " allowed" to do but come wedding night April said was not a problem. i would say check it out if you want an awesome and unique venue!

The second we walked into the Oscar Event Center we knew it was the venue for us. The ambiance, atmosphere, from the first step through the ceremony and reception spaces was incredible. We had a wine theme for our wedding and there was remarkably little that needed to be added to the space to enhance it - it was so beautiful and elegant on its own. The staff was incredibly helpful - they made sure everything went perfectly on our wedding day, making my wife & me their top priority.

I could have done with a little more communication in the months leading up to our wedding - in wedding planning it's incredibly hard to keep track of all of the details, and it was entirely on us to remember when payments were due, menus had to be finalized, etc. However, in the month or so up until the wedding, every question was answered immediately, and they were always willing to help. I would absolutely recommend the Oscar Event Center to anyone looking for an elegant, warm, and still fun wedding venue. The space is beautiful, the food is great, and the staff really takes care of you. When we first toured they told us it was the best kept secret in Cincinnati - and I would have to agree!

This place quite literally does it all. They have the linens, tables, chairs, flatware, glassware...the list goes on. They work with you on every detail and make suggestions for solutions to your problems. Super professional. They are definitely worth checking out for your special event.

My parents and I were able to attend one of their tastings before my wedding. The food was great. We rented the entire hall for the reception. It accommodated all 280 guests very well. The hall is beautiful and all of the food was very good. My guests were very complimentary of the food and the hall.Another thing that's great is the women's bathroom. There is a very nice lounge in there. After my husband and I "fed" each other cake, I had to go in there and reapply my makeup.

Overall, we were very pleased with using Oscars Event Center to host our wedding reception. Having a summer reception, our guests enjoyed having a balcony to step out onto, as well as plenty of room to mix and mingle. As soon as the wedding party arrived at Oscars, Brittany was right there to attend to us and make sure things ran smoothly. Although you can divide the reception room, we rented the entire room due to the number of guests. Our only problem with this was that many guests could not hear any of the music or annoucements made by the dj from their tables or other areas of the event center. We had a sit down dinner which was served promptly and received rave reviews from our guests.

The best place I could have hoped to find in terms of location and quality. For me and about 90% of my guests it's a very local place. It's also very grand inside. They have an elevator and offer valet parking (which is great because I have a lot of people that could not possibly make it up the grand stair case). Plus they literally do everything for you from set up to tear down. Catering there is top notch. Our food tasting was exceptional- dinner will be a difficult choice! So far it's been a great experience.
