The cake was beyond beautiful. We did a small ceremony cake and then had more cake in the back to cut down on costs. But everyone commented on how beautiful our cake was. It was also very delicious (we did 2 different flavors) and there were almost no leftovers. We had to have our caterer set some aside for us to make sure we got to eat it.

Beautiful custom wedding cake!
I would highly recommend The Icing on the Cake to anyone looking for a wedding cake in the Boston area! First of all, cake tasting at the bakery in Newton with Paula was definitely one of the most fun moments of wedding planning. We felt like we were in good hands with Paula and she helped us come up with a design that was perfect for us (even included an outline of the Boston skyline on the top tier!) and matched the icing flowers on the cake to the colors of our florals. The cake was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite memories from the wedding reception. We found the bakery through our hotel and I'm so glad we did! I'd definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a gorgeous cake that also tastes amazing!

We had tried one other bakery, and had a much more impersonal experience, which led us to choosing the Icing on the Cake -- we are so happy with this decision! Paula was so sweet and easy to work with from start to finish! We sat down with her for an hour long complimentary tasting, and she was so helpful with her recommendations regarding flavor, decor, and budget. We had a vague idea of the design we wanted and with just a few questions, she understood right away what we were going for. For our budget, Paula recommended a two tier cake and a separate round cake for cutting, which was very affordable. Delivery was very easy and a nominal fee. The cakes themselves itself were delicious, fresh, and light. The have a great promotion and will provide you a free anniversary cake if you give them a printed, professional photo of the cake at your wedding. We are overall so happy we worked with them for our wedding, and so grateful for how easy Paula made this part of wedding planning!

The best combination: Beautiful AND delicious!
Our stylish and delicious cake was a big hit, even for people who don’t usually eat wedding cake! Our experience at Icing on the Cake was extremely simple. Paula has been in the industry for decades and her experience was made clear by the clarity she provided in the course of our decision process. At our tasting, we sampled a wide variety of flavors and reviewed hundreds of photos of past cakes seeking inspiration. We elected for a three-tier cake with a different flavor for each tier, complete with a fondant outline of the Boston skyline. Very happy with the results, and walked away with beautiful photos!

Amazing Cakes
I used this bakery for three cakes during my wedding season. The first, for the JOP wedding I had as we canceled our orginal wedding because of the pandemic. When our city allowed weddings to be held we used Icing for the grooms cake as well as the actual wedding cake. I got great reviews on how fresh and moist the cakes were and the flavor combinations were superior. i would go to this bakery in a heartbeat.

Simply Wonderful
I got married this past Sunday & my wedding cake was made by The Icing on the cake and to say it was delicious and a hit is an understatement. The issue I have with many bakeries are that their cakes are too sweet, especially the frosting. The sugar overpower the flavors and you can’t even eat a whole slice or the cake is dry. That is NOT an issue with this bakery. It was moist and even the guests with the most sensitivity to sugar had 2 slices. The flavors were also AMAZING. Especially strawberry, orange, and raspberry. (Each tier had a different flavor filling which was the best advice from Paula and decision).
In my culture the wedding cake is central to the reception, even more so than the food. The Icing on the Cake did not disappoint me or my guests. The quality of their cakes are so good, I took the wedding topper home and shared with co-workers, it is now 3 days after my wedding and the cake is still as good as it was on my wedding day. Still soft & moist even after being refrigerated. I will definitely be ordering from them for future occasions, & I strongly suggest you do too.

We had the best time during our tasting, Paula was so friendly and helpful! They were very prepared with COVID protocols in place (hopefully those won't matter much longer) and gave us plenty to taste (the hardest part was choosing the flavors - they were all good!). I was hoping for mint chocolate which was not available during our tasting so Paula had some made up for me to pick up and try the following week. Perfect wedding cake in ten days
About ten days before the wedding for 50 guests, we realized we ought to have a cake. Duh! Three popular Boston bakeries either don't do wedding cakes or prefer sheet cakes or charge outrageous amounts. Our wonderful caterer (Baker's Best) recommended The Icing on the Cake. What a gift they are to ANYONE seeking a special cake for any celebration. First of all, the women in charge got a huge laugh out of us "forgetting" a cake until ten days before event. They cleared their schedules, gave us two hours of tastings and advice, patiently sat with our hesitation over icing patterns (such decisions!). The cake was delicious -- real buttercream frosting, delicious cake, superb filling -- and it "showed" beautifully.
And what a treat! IF you bring them a photo of the cake, they prepare an eight-slice duplicate FOR FREE on your first anniversary. We just celebrated it! They are friendly, flexible, and their prices compare very well with other, less accommodating places. Go to Icing on the Cake!

Best. Cake. Ever!
I would not be lying to say that the cake was by far the easiest part of our wedding. From the second I talked to Paula on the phone to set up a time to come in and discuss the details she could not have been more accommodating! We had to reschedule a few times due to the Bruins playoffs (Paula’s a fan too so it worked out), but when we met with Paula in person everything just fell into place. She asked all the right questions, and advised us on things we didn’t have answers for (what size cake do you need for 200 guests?), showed us some examples of cakes she has done in the past and asked the big question, “what did you always dream your wedding cake would look like?”. It’s like she could read my mind because the cake could not have been more perfect! The colors matched our decor, the rope and grommets matched our nautical Cape Cod theme, and the cake itself was delicious! The best part of meeting with Paula was of course getting to taste the different flavors of cakes they make – this was the real hard part – deciding which ones to choose, they were all amazing! After that meeting we knew we could check one big item off our to-do list and never look back. Now we just need to come up with reasons we need cake to work with Paula again :)

Best cake I've ever tasted! I honestly couldn't say nicer things about Paula and her team. From our first conversation, Paula was so informative and easy to talk to. Delicious Variety from the Icing on the Cake!
We wanted a local cake baker to make our wedding cake and were thrilled with the Icing on the Cake in Newton. Paula sat down with my mom and I to discuss (and try!) their cake options. By the end of the consultation, she had drawn by hand what our cake and icing design might look like, and we were hooked by how delicious every flavor combo was. There were so many scrumptious varieties to choose from.
In the end, we ordered a tiered cake with several flavors. Some of our guests tried all of them, and days later more raved about how tasty the cake had been. All around, it was an easy experience with excellent outcomes.

This bakery had a partnership with our venue and so we were told the cake included in our package would be coming from here. We already knew that they made great cakes, as my husband has a family member who works here. When we came in to do the tasting, we were completely blown away by our experience! Paula was wonderful from showing us the pictures of all the different options to helping work with us to make our cake truly special. She was able to match the purple my sister was wearing in the ribbons in our cake without even seeing the dress in person! In fact, I’m pretty sure she just did it based on the description. We had three different cake flavors, all of which were wonderful, and we are already looking forward to the free anniversary cake that we got as a gift for giving them a picture of our cake! As a side note, we had a pretty tricky cake topper that was supposed to be two pieces (a bride and a groom) that easily fit together. It was clear from when I took them out of the box that this was not going to be as easy to make work as it looked in the picture – and Paula and her team make it work AND make it look effortless. Working with this bakery was a joy and we will be sure to support them in the future!

We found that not only did their cake taste the best (probably the #1 decision factor), but they gave us a much more personalized cake (as opposed to some other bakeries that are more like factories with no personal touch) that really met our vision. Paula was the best. We wanted a small cake with multiple flavors to satisfy the most amount of guests possible. All of the cake tasted amazing and we had a hard time picking three flavors. We ended up with Amaretto, red velvet and carrot cake. I love carrot cake and mentioned that I prefer some crunch and Paula offered to add bigger walnuts and coconut flakes. The cake was absolutely delicious and our guests LOVED it! I kept hearing that it was the best cake they had ever tasted.
We also had a couple of guests with allergies/gluten intolerance. The Icing on the Cake provided gluten free cupcakes that were individually packaged to avoid any contamination. Our friends and family with allergies really appreciated the thought and said the cupcakes were the best gluten-free dessert they had ever tried!
I am looking forward to picking up our anniversary cake in six months. We ate the top as soon as we got back from our honeymoon! Thank you so much Paula and The Icing on the Cake!!

Paula was great! We met with her to do a cake tasting and she was fabulous from the start. She was willing to work with us so that we got exactly what we wanted. We went with 4 different cupcakes flavors and each was better than the next, we had no leftovers. Her pricing is very reasonable as well! Would highly recommend Paula and Icing on the Cake, so delicious!!

TIOTC was our FAVORITE part of our wedding. From the day we did the tasting with Paula and experienced so many delicious flavors, we knew that this was the place to get our cake. We had a large wedding (~225 guests) and wanted a small ceremonial cake for cutting, and then sheet cakes in multiple flavors to serve our guest count. Paula was so accommodating in this! She helped us imagine the perfect design for our cake, and drew on a beautiful Boston skyline as part of our wedding theme. We got so many compliments on the cake and really only wish we could have eaten more!

My cake from The Icing on the Cake came with the package at my venue and boy am I happy it did. Paula organized a very comfortable and informative tasting with many flavor choices and a full book of her past work to gauge our likes/dislikes. My blue and silver evening in the city wedding was taken to the next level with a crisp white cake, with silver bling, and the skyline outlined across the center. Inside, my plain husband's taste of just chocolate or vanilla was taken to the next level when Paula suggested funfetti cake/frosting for one of the main layers. She organized the entire delivery with the venue and I was left to just eat cake! Many guests told me the worst part about the wedding was that they were not allowed to have two slices of cake, because it was SO good. Overall, Paula was the perfect baker to turn my big day into an edible treat for my friends and family.

Used Icing on the cake for my daughters shower and wedding cakes. Worked with Paula who was so nice and helpful. The cakes were beautiful and more importantly delicious! People talked about the basket weave shower cake for weeks. The wedding cake was simple but elegant and beautiful. I had a sentimental attachment to the Icing on the Cake because my grandmother had used this bakery for so many things when I was growing up, but after our one-on-one cake tasting with Paula my husband was just as sold as I was! Every flavor we tried was insanely good, it was honestly hard to make a decision, and Paula’s work is so gorgeous. She had so many ideas for our cake and sat with us patiently sketching out something that was uniquely ours! Every guest at our wedding raved that the cake was incredible – and we caught more than one person grabbing second slice by the end.

We LOVED our cake. From the first meeting, we knew Paula was someone we wanted to work with and trusted- she was so knowledgeable about our venue, the type of design we were going for, and was very thoughtful in coming up with the best value (price) for our guest count. We were so happy we chose Paula and Icing on the Cake to make our Wedding Cake! Paula was absolutely lovely to work with and made the planning process easy and seamless. We brought pictures of ideas that we wanted for the design and she sketched a few drawings which were great-- the end result blew us away and our cake was gorgeous!
Most importantly, the cake tasted like heaven. We went with a three tier cake which flavors were vanilla amaretto, red velvet, and marble-- which was the perfect! I wish I had a piece in front of me now because I'm still remembering how delicious it was-- moist, fluffy cake, and the filing was amazing!
I would recommend The Icing on The Cake to anyone, and I can't wait to come up with another event to get our next cake from them!

We used Icing on the Cake for our vendor for our April 2017 wedding at the Newton Marriott. Total perfection, from our meeting, communicating throughout the planning process, and the wedding day itself. The cake was above and beyond what we had even imagined for our unique design. So my mom's one request of my whole wedding was about the cake. She LOVES wedding cake, so I wanted to impress her. We had met with all the traditionally known wedding cake vendors with high reviews and tasted countless samples but nothing quite did it for us. Then, on a whim, we went out to TIOTC. The tasting was exquisite -- far better than some of the more well known pricier options. We did a very simple cake: plain, white, just a little bit of bling wrapped around the bottom. Yet they still made it look incredibly elegant and it was absolutely scrumptious! We also ordered cake pops and cupcakes, and we had ZERO leftovers because people couldn't get enough. We've gone back over and over again for birthday cakes and special event cupcakes. As a nice touch, they even make you a first anniversary cake on your anniversary if you provide them with a picture of the cake from the wedding. No more eating stale frozen leftover cake! Absolutely glorious. You will love them.

We loved our entire experience with our wedding cake from Icing on the Cake! First, their cakes are absolutely amazing and taste delicious. Second, we really enjoyed meeting with Paula (the owner) during our cake consultation. She personalized the consultation and made us feel that she cared about our individual cake which we really appreciated. The cake was exactly what I had pictured. She was also able to do a fondant Boston skyline which went so well with our Boston themed wedding! We will absolutely be returning to Icing on the Cake for future life events!

I love cake. LOVE. I made my best friend's wedding cake and was fully prepared to make my own, that's how important it was to me to not serve substandard cake to our guests. My fiance talked me into at least doing a tasting at the Icing on the Cake since they were included in the package at our venue, and HOLY COW am I glad I did. Paula was fun, relaxed, professional, and most importantly made us a beautiful, DELICIOUS cake. So glad we decided to go with her team! I can't wait for our anniversary! :-)

The shop was able to accommodate my needs within one month of my wedding and to design a buttercream marble cake after an image I had found online of a marble fondant cake. The result was simple, elegant, and most importantly, very tasty. Friends who HATE cake admitted that they ate their own piece and any "leftovers" laid aside by my dancing guests. Highly recommend this shop - local or even within driving distance. The way they packaged the cake made storing in the car and the hotel's refrigerator a breeze.

We used The Icing on the Cake for our wedding cake. The cake was included in our package and we had a choice between a couple local bakeries. We chose The Icing on the Cake and are so happy we did! The cake was beautiful and tasted great! Paula was extremely helpful and fun to work with, she is very creative and did a wonderful job making our ideas come to life. We loved Paula and Icing on the Cake! We had an option of 3 cake vendors for our wedding and after meeting Paula at our tasting, we knew we wanted her to make our cake. Paula was very interactive at our tasting, actually using our forks to mix different flavors of filling and cake to find us exactly what we wanted. Paula took the time to design our cake on paper while talking to us and when our wedding day finally came, the cake was absolutely beautiful. Icing on the Cake did an amazing job on the floral designs we had put on our cake and we got so many compliments on both the taste and look of it at our wedding. We plan to use Icing on the Cake for all of our future cake needs.

We cannot say enough great things about Icing on the Cake! Paula was very friendly right from the get-go of our tasting. She listened to what we wanted for a design, and it was more than we could have imagined! Her cakes were delicious as well; we had three different flavors, one for each tier. She had great advice on what size cake would work with our number of guests, and suggested ways to decrease our costs a bit, such as having a side cake (that no one saw) of another flavor or cake. We loved being able to offer our guests a choice of flavors! We felt like we were in great hands with Paula; she checked in with us leading up to the wedding to work our final details and even made a super cute frosting version of our dog to sit on one tier. She was incredibly professional throughout the process and we are SO glad we found her and her shop. As soon as we get our pictures, we will post a photo of our spectacular cake! We just don't want to have to wait a year to eat the rest on our first anniversary :-) Thank you so, so much!!!!!

So glad we went with Icing on the Cake. We did tastings at a few bakeries and we thought their cakes were by far the best tasting, and also most reasonably priced. Coincidentally my aunt used them for my shower so luckily I got to have extra of their cake! Paula and her team created a cake for us that was as delicious as it was beautiful. We met with Paula for a consultation/tasting which was very easy to schedule and a lot of fun. Paula was so helpful throughout the meeting in giving us options that were included in the package that our hotel provided and was very clear with anything that was an additional charge. Paula also helped give us ideas to help design our cake based on different photos that we liked. Ultimately, we ended up finding a cake design online that we loved after our meeting with Paula, but we sent her the picture and she was able to replicate it perfectly! We got a number of compliments from our guests about how much they enjoyed the cake!

I have been ordering cakes from Paula since my children were very young; they are now in the 20s in fact my oldest sons birthday is in October and I will get him a specialized cake from here. I ordered both bar mitzvah cakes here and various bday cakes for friends and family and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. There is no comparison down the line with any other cake place.
You can rest easy and its fun to go in and taste the different possibilities. Paula is helpful, friendly, and professional and so is everyone that works there. Class A.

We only looked at two cake vendors that both came with high recommendations. The first place we looked at left me feeling "eih" about the thought of having a wedding cake. But when we went to Icing on the Cake for a tasting with Paula, I was so excited about the idea of having a cake - the range of cake flavors were delicious and the cake itself was moist, the buttercream frosting was awesome - much better than the too-sugary frosting at the other vendor. We decided to go with the three layers of filling, which was absolutely worth the modest upgrade. The design we chose was simple and we added fresh flowers to decorate the cake, though her more elaborate samples were beautiful as well. For our guests with gluten sensitivities, we had gluten-free cupcakes which I hear were also quite tasty and had beautiful flower icing designs on top. As a final note, we found out about TIOTC from my maid of honor, who got married two years ago and to this day still talks about how yummy her cake was, so that was an endorsement in itself!

We went on 3 tastings at different bakeries and chose The Icing on the Cake to use for our special day. This was the smallest and most personal of the tastings that we had. The cake itself was delicious and Paula was great to work with in helping to design our cake. We had our cake included at our package at the Hyatt, but we did a couple of upgrades (extra layers of cake and frosting - $30, and custom made topper of fondant 2 cute owls for $50). The cake looked at tasted great and they worked well with the hotel. We got a call to check on a decision related to the topper, which I appreciated. We ordered 3 different types of cake for our 3 tiers and they were all a hit! I would highly recommend using and supporting this small local business!

The Icing on the Cake cake itself was what won us over the other vendors. Moist yet not too sweet and oh so good. We had a good amount of guests that were not from the city and everyone wanted to know where to get the cake. The design was exactly as discussed with Paula during consultations. We even went back to retry the flavors to make sure everything would be exactly what we wanted and Paula was more than willing to help us again even though we ended up back at our original choices... classic bridezilla moment! I also liked that they offer late night tasting consultations since I don't work or live near Newton. Thank you Icing on the Cake for an amazing cake for my amazing wedding!

The Icing on the Cake was fantastic to work with! We had the choice of 3 bakeries with our package, and came here last. Clearly, we saved the best for last. Paula and I had a blast chatting about what my vision was, and even sent me home with samples for my then-fiance to taste since he was unable to attend the tasting due to work. She very clearly laid out the vision, and worked with my florist to get live flowers on top of the cake. The flavors were phenomenal, and so many people raved about the cake to us. We chose TIOTC as our wedding cake vendor from the five that were offered as options from our reception venue. We tasted cake from all five vendors and TIOTC was by far the tastiest. They also worked with us to maximize the budget alloted by the venue package. In the end, our cake was gorgeous and delicious with no additional charges!
Before our first anniversary, we sent them a professional picture of our cake in exchange for a free top tier to enjoy on our anniversary (so we wouldn't have to keep track of and freeze a cake for a year--gross!)!!! The top tier looked exactly like our wedding cake and was more delicious than the original (because we actually got to enjoy it, which I didn't do at the wedding because it was so busy).

My husband and I got married on 10/24 at the beautiful Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge. We met with Paula to have a cake tasting about a month before. We both had had long days and were kind of cranky going in. The moment we met Paula we were both instantly cured of the bad mood. She is so good at her job and loves what she does so much that you can feel that energy instantly. We tried several types of cake and had a hard time deciding which flavor to pick. So we picked five of our favorites and served our guests beautiful fall cupcakes! Paula and her team did an amazing job of giving each flavor of cupcake its own decorated theme, like acorns and leaves for chocolate hazelnut. The presentation alone was stunning. But these cupcakes not only looked gorgeous, they tasted amazing!!! So flavorful and delicious. I thought we might have a couple of leftovers at the end of the night but NOPE! Paula explained that they don't use food coloring but instead use natural methods to give color to the cakes. You can taste the high quality and people were raving about them. I highly recommend The Icing on the Cake because every wedding couple deserves to have a beautiful cake that tastes great too!

Of all the wedding cakes we tried, IOTC was truly most delicious! We were able to choose two different flavors for our cake, which our guests loved. Everyone was a huge fan. The cake looked gorgeous. Paula and the team at Icing on the Cake did a great job on our cake for our wedding in June. We opted for a simple textured design with fresh flowers, based off a photo we had seen, and they nailed it. It was absolutely beautiful. Even more than appearance though, we had SO many compliments on the flavor, which is not always the case with wedding cakes. Our guests was amazed with how fresh it tasted, and the buttercream frosting was a big hit (I'm pretty sure Paula said she doesn't do fondant, which made me feel like we were at the right place from the start). We had three layers with three different flavors, and a separate sheet cake in the kitchen to help keep costs within budget, which was a great solution. In terms of quality and value, Icing on the Cake exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend for a wedding cake vendor!

My family has gotten cakes from TIOTC before, so I knew that's where I would go for my wedding cake, and they exceeded my expectations. My husband's and my tasting and initial meeting with Paula was great and she completely understood our vision and offered suggestions to make the cake even more beautiful while keeping the cost down. The cake also tasted amazing and we got many compliments from guests about how beautiful and delicious the cake was. We also got a birthday cake from TIOTC for my husband's father to have at our rehearsal dinner, and the cake was equally as delicious and beautiful!

I was so blown away by the service, quality, and artistry of The Icing on the Cake team. We first visited a well-known cake brand in Massachusetts and were so disappointed by the experience. Once we met with The Icing on the Cake team we knew we were in better hands. Not only was the cake absolutely beautiful and exactly what we envisioned, but it was delicious and everyone truly enjoyed it. I had guest after guest telling me, "I've never had wedding cake that actually tasted good." Everyone thought it was beautiful and yummy, too! Hats off to TIOTC!

TIOTC were amazing! When we went in for our tasting, Paula was able to take my vague descriptions and translate them to the perfect simple yet interesting wedding cake! Not to mention delicious! We had so many guests (many of whom work weddings regularly and therefore eat A LOT of wedding cake) come up to say how delicious it was! She was also able to add in 100 chocolate cake pops for our dessert bar at the last minute, which were so popular that I never even got one! I cannot recommend The Icing On The Cake enough. Paula at The Icing on the Cake was recommended to me by my event planner. She did an amazing job. Many of our guests talked about how delicious the cake was. We chose Amaretto but ALL of the flavors we sampled were delicious. Paula also designed the cake exactly how we asked during our initial consultation. I would definitely recommend The Icing on the Cake to my friends.

Absolutely amazing cake! We had two companies to choose from that were part of our package. The woman we worked with was fantastic and super kind. She sat with us for a long time trying to figure out what exactly we wanted. The flavors were unique and soooo delicious. The cake itself turned out beautiful and all of our guests complimented on the look and taste. Would absolutely recommend!

Our wedding package had the choice of a couple bakeries- we chose The Icing on the Cake! Paula was the most responsive person I contacted about cakes and we were completely sold after the tasting. The cakes were delicious. Hubs was completely uninterested in cakes until we met with Paula- she explained things very well and discussed all kinds of options. We were thrilled with the results! The only thing we regret is not saving the top layer. No way it would have lasted a year- we would have eaten it the week after the wedding.

My wedding day was the best day of my life-- my only regret of is that I didn't get to eat a piece of each of our four flavors of cake!! I don't know how Paula can make such a beautiful cake taste that good. It's really one of the best tasting cakes I've ever eaten (family and friends agree!) and I'm so happy I called Paula last year. 10/10!

We have been to a number of weddings where the wedding cake gets lost in a huge table of desserts. Well, we decided that everyone at our wedding would get to share in the cake we cut together. Some of our guests were initially shocked "you have this major caterer and your only dessert is the wedding cake??". But you know what, the cake that The Icing on The Cake delivered us was one of the most incredible cakes we had ever had. Not only did it perfectly fit the look of our reception, it was incredibly rich and tasty. Several of our guests took the time to compliment the cake during the reception. Additionally Icing on the Cake had worked with our reception venue before (which had very strict rules about delivery times, namely at the end of the business day as opposed to in the morning) and were very willing to cooperate with them despite any inconvenience it made to their day. You won't be disappointed if you place your cake needs in the hands of The Icing on the Cake. They were one vital piece in the puzzle we put together to stage our perfect wedding. The most delicious cake I've ever had!! We had cupcakes with a small cake to cut for our reception. The detail was beautiful and we were allowed to pick as many flavors as we wanted for the cupcakes. This gave our guests a nice selection of flavors. I have found a place to get all my cakes for every occasion.

The Icing on the Cake was simply the best cake we have ever tasted and we LOVE cake!!! We were so pleased with the bakery and the different options for cake and icing/frosting, designs and details. They were able to customize the cake flowers to match the bridesmaids' dress color. I had brought a photo of a wedding cake I saw online and really loved the style flowers and design. They were able to re-create it perfectly! I was so excited to see the wedding cake when we arrived at the reception as it was exactly how I had envisioned it to be for so many months. It was too perfect to cut, but we did and it was simply amazing cake! All of our guests raved about the cake! And the best part was, we got to take home a whole 8" cake that ended up being extra and got to enjoy cake for several days after the wedding. We are looking forward to our first wedding anniversary as we can order a cake exactly like our wedding cake so there's no need to try to freeze and thaw it just to find out it doesn't taste the same. Now that's something to look forward to!!

I am an event planner and have been using The Icing on the Cake for 15 years. The cake are exquisite and best of all, they are beyond yummy. Many of the "Big Boston Bakeries" make beautiful cakes but they cut corners with ingredients & they simply do not taste good. The Icing on the Cake prides themselves on cakes that taste better than they look - and that is extraordinary! The best part is that these cakes are affordable if you want to pay for quality!

We could not have been happier with our cake from the Icing on the Cake. From the initial cake tasting and meeting, we were so excited to be getting our cake from TIOTC. Paula was so professional and I loved that she was able to draw a cake design while we were talking to her about what we liked/wanted.
Our cake was 4 layers with navy blue ribbon and a line of silver "bling" with a cascade of edible shimmery snowflakes going down/around the cake. It look absolutely stunning when we saw it at the reception.
The cake also tasted incredible. The bottom layer was a mocha chocolate, second layer was the lemon velvet, third layer was the coconut dream and the top layer was lemon velvet. Everyone loved the cake and it was great having a variety for people to pick one.

We have been using The Icing on the Cake for all our important events ever since my sister found them years ago for her wedding. We always have a great experience with them and my wedding cake was no different! Paula meets with all her couples, providing samples and not charge and drawing out a few design options so you can chose the one that best fits your vision and price. Paula was very open to all our requests and found a way to make everything work for us. The Icing on the Cake even helped me surprise my groom with an adorable replica of our puppy digging out of the cake!
We did try some other places just to get pricing and have some fun, but the cake places we visited wouldn’t even meet with us and discuss what we wanted until we put a deposit down! They only provided samples and apparently thought that was enough for a bride and groom to make a vendor decision.
Day of our cake was beautiful and so yummy (I tried BOTH kinds we selected.) Very often wedding cake can be made too far ahead and ends up being dry and tasteless, but TIOTC always has really delicious wedding cake. Everything came out really well and once again, The Icing on the Cake was a no brainer for our event!

It was such a treat working with Paula, who I connected with instantly from the moment I entered her bakery for my cake tasting. I brought 3 family members (MOB, MOH & dad) with me, and she welcomed us with open arms, guided us through the process so we really felt heard and that she could work with our needs, budget and wedding dreams, and her cakes, frostings and designs are top notch.
We knew upon leaving, that i had found my wedding cake bakery! As a self-proclaimed foodie, and someone who knows her desserts, this was very important to me, and they nailed it. Everything thereafter - completing my order, communicating with the team for final adjustments, and delivery day with the final masterpiece - was easy and well executed. I certainly received my dream cake!
Paula is professional, warm, inviting, energetic, and passionate about her craft, and she delivers rockstar quality cakes (beautiful and perfectly moist with perfect flavors). Their cakes are SO GOOD I can't wait to order more for other special occasions!

We went to meet with them only once. It was quite clear that they had many years of exceptional high quality cake production and also a very high level of experience in dealing with the public and in particular with wedding parties. The lady we meet showed us the options and several books of cakes with ideas and examples to give us idea. We had an idea, and worked on it together. She drew up the design on paper and also pencilled in the details we discussed and we had a very clear idea of how the cake would look. The only other contact we had with this company was to contact then a few weeks ahead of the event to confirm the numbers attending our wedding and it was simply there and looked excellent. Lastly, it tasted excellent with the various layers of coconut and lemon filling we had ordered and that lovely soft white icing fondant. Just right.

We could not have been more pleased with selecting The Icing on the Cake to provide the cake for our wedding (AND the post-wedding brunch cake for my aunt's birthday). Paula and her team were so easy to work with, we received rave reviews from all our guests re: how moist and delicious the cake was (I love that they agree fondant on principle is not good...), and they added adorable touches like a hat and veil to our dog salt/pepper shaker cake toppers. I loved our wedding cake, not only because it was the most delicious cake we've ever had- but it was equally as beautiful! Paula was very nice at our tasting and we loved her work. I had shown her some photos of cakes I pinned on Pinterest and she sketched the design I loved and made it come to life. She is creative, helpful, responsive and great to work with. The only complaint would be she offered so many great flavors- it was hard to choose, lol! The wedding was three days ago and I am still enjoying the left overs 5+ stars! I'm so happy with my choice for The Icing on The Cake for my wedding cake. My venue was contracted with Konditor meister for the wedding cake but I was very unhappy with their cakes. I thought they tasted terrible and I didn't want to eat the cake or serve it to my guests. When I called TIOTC, they make me feel so much better about my situation. I was all smiles during the tasting. The cakes tasted to good and the frosting was sweet, just how it should be. She was so understanding and helpful with making a great cake at a reasonable price, since we were already paying for a cake that we weren't using. She recommended doing a sheet cake in addition to a three layer cake to feed the number of people we needed but at a lower cost. She even offered to do the butter cream flowers at no extra charge. It was really hard to decide what flavors to choose for the different layers since they were all so amazing. The final product of the cake was exactly what we wanted. It looked beautiful. Everyone said they loved the cake and all of it got eaten. It tasted amazing. If you give her a professional picture of the cake, she will make a cake topper for your one year anniversary, so you don't have to eat the old cake topper.
