Maddie, Paige, and the entire KSHG team were absolutely incredible throughout the whole process. From the initial meeting to their help, coordination, and spirit on the day, we could not have been happier! They answered every question so promptly and with such positivity. When it came to the tasting, they made it one of our favorite aspects of wedding planning and truly thought of every detail. Finally on the day, it was the most incredible service from the staff and Paige always seemed to be perfectly present just when we thought of something while calmly maneuvering the timeline of the day. My husband and I celebrated our wedding at the Gadsden House in April. This venue and its team are incredible. From day 1, their communication and execution were top tier, which was important to us having been from out of town! The food at this venue is DELICIOUS. Our guests were blown away and talking about our wedding for weeks following. You will not be disappointed to be married here :)

We couldn't be happier with the experience we had working with the team at The Gadsden House. They were always one step ahead of everything that needed to be done to ensure my daughter and her finance had a wonderful, memorable wedding day. The venue is the perfect location for a Charleston wedding...a beautiful house, perfect outdoor space that accommodates the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and dancing and THE most fabulous menu! The Gadsden House team was super responsive and helped us so much during the months of planning for our daughter's wedding. They worked so well with our wedding planner and ensured all of our needs, and our guests needs were met the day of the wedding.

Whether it was making sure our guests were comfortable or handling the details of the day seamlessly, they executed everything flawlessly. The best part? We didn’t have to think about a single thing—we were able to just enjoy our dream day.

The food was outstanding, and our guests are still raving about it! Every dish was prepared to perfection, and the service was impeccable. From the hors d'oeuvres to the main course, the quality was exceptional, and the presentation was gorgeous.

Just one example of their attention to detail was when Allie brought our hors d'oeuvres all the way out to us during our couples photos in the nearby neighborhood, ensuring we didn’t miss out on the delicious treats despite being away during cocktail hour. Another example was when the team waited to serve my mom her dinner until she returned from the restroom so it would be piping hot—those thoughtful gestures didn’t go unnoticed and made us feel so cared for.

Thanks to the KSHG team, our wedding day was flawless, and we would not change a thing. The combination of the beautiful venue, exceptional food, and, most importantly, the caring and professional team made our day perfect in every way. We cannot recommend The Gadsden House enough.

Our wedding was everything I had imagined and SO much more because of KSHG! When picking venues, my husband and I headed to Charleston from MD to try and find something so that we could do a destination style wedding. We had looked at Upstairs at Midtown online and that was the one we were most excited about. When we booked the visit, they asked if we wanted to tour their sister site and we figured "why not"? Well, we INSTANTLY and I mean INSTANTLY fell in love with the venue. Everything about it, from the details of the lanterns outside to the greenery fences, to the beautiful vintage style interior decor that is so well kept and just lovely.. we knew that was the venue for us! We went to Charleston on several occasions for our food tasting, final walk through, etc. and working with the team was absolutely wonderful! They were kind, responsive, accommodating, descriptive, helpful, and so much more. Our food tasting was one of my favorite experiences of all time because it felt like we were all just a group of friends hanging out and eating delicious (AND I MEAN DELICIOUS) meals. With that being said, because they knew how far we were they did everything that they could to help accommodate us being so far away. They even offered a virtual tour of both venues if we wished so that we did not have to drive down (although gladly we went because we wouldn't have instantly been overwhelmed by the elegance of entering the Gadsden House). I feel like I could go on and on about the venue AND the team, because it was such a wonderful experience. They made our wedding feel luxurious, and made sure every single detail and design was exactly what we envisioned. I HIGHLY recommend both the vendor AND the venue. They worked SO well with our planner (Peper Events) as well, and it made the process SO much more enjoyable and stress free as they covered so many aspects and details that I did not have to worry about. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, beautiful venue with excellent service then I highly recommend you go with KSHG. Additionally, the food deserves a review ALL on its own, but it was absolutely incredible. I am from Portugal originally, and my family had NEVER had chicken and waffles, and said it sounded horrible. Well we had it as an hor d'oeuvre and they were completely blown away by it! Everything from the hor d'oeuvre, to the delicious melt in your mouth beef, and the bacon ranch fries for a late night snack (10/10 recommend those) were wonderful! I would go back JUST for the food alone if I could!

The Gadsden House is as good as it gets. We immediately fell in love with the venue after our initial tour and with a relatively tight timeline from securing the venue to our wedding day, the King St Hospitality Group team helped us pull off the Big Day seamlessly. The combination of the building itself with it's stately high ceilings and wrap around porches, with the expansive patio, and convenience of groom's quarters and bridal suite made the Gadsden an absolutely perfect place to host such an important event. Outside of the building, all those involved were first class and made what can be a stressful event a breeze. Thank you to the entire KSHG team for your tireless efforts--it was truly the best day of our lives.

I spotted this venue online and instantly fell in love with it. The Gadsden House provided a beautiful backdrop for our Wedding and Reception. It is a dreamy home and courtyard that is only made more spectacular by the vendors they work with who truly brought our dreams to life. The KSHG team was wonderful to work with, especially Regina, they were all friendly, responsive, and incredibly kind!

The team at The Gadsden House is incredible! The planning process was seamless, even as I live across the country. Every part of the planning and event experience was thoughtful and tailored to us. Right from the tasting, the team took note of our likes and dislikes and ensured that we had a menu specialized for us. They were attentive throughout the entire evening and made sure that we had everything we needed to fully relax and enjoy the night.
The staff was incredible and truly provided the elevated experience we were looking for. We even had long-time Charleston residents complimenting the venue! One of the best aspects of The Gadsden House was the food. Truly incredible options. We got so many compliments the night of the wedding on how good the food was.
Overall, I cannot recommend The Gadsden House and the staff at King Street Hospitality enough. They helped ensure our wedding was everything we wanted and more!

This winter, King Street Hospitality hosted our group at the Gadsden House for our annual holiday party. The venue’s interior is spotless, and the garden and grounds are beautifully manicured. The Gadsden House retains all its 1798 charm while offering contemporary food and beverages. The team (Sofie, Maddie, and Sarah) responded immediately to our inquiry and were in constant contact throughout the entire planning process. We deferred to their expertise in food recommendations, rentals, and venue setup. Our group is very satisfied with the Gadsden House and will not hesitate to recommend it to others. We look forward to planning another event at the Gadsden House in the future.

We hosted a destination wedding for 100 people at the Gadsden House. Living out of town, you never really know what you are going to get for your money but you should trust every single one of the 5 star reviews you have read. The KSHG is first class and the Gadsden House is out of the world beautiful.

Kathleen, Regina, and their team were very responsive to endless emails and questions. The tasting was wonderfully planned. And I was pleasantly surprised to see the people who I had emailed with for months were in fact the same people who were there onsite serving me the entire night of the wedding. They did not hand it off to other people. They were there and wonderfully attentive all night.

All of our guests were blown away at the Ritz-Carlton level service. If you are considering a seated dinner, I recommend it. Even with 100 people, every meal was piping hot. The entirely female serving staff coordinated meal delivery with each person at the tables receiving their meals simultaneously like a royal event. As the bride, I never had to go get or look for anything. I was attended to and after speaking with our guests, they were as well. We even had a guest with a severe food allergy and they were diligent on communications to ensure she had an allergy-free meal.

The Gadsden House & the entire KSHG staff deserve 6 out of 5 stars.

When we decided to host our wedding at a destination out of town, the stress began to mount. After touring so many different venues in Charleston, we found the Gadsden House and the wonderful folks at King Street Hospitality. All our worries disappeared! From the start, the staff have been of the highest class and walked us through every step of the way. Their impeccable attention to detail, professional process and efficiency made our planning process seamless. We cannot say enough about them - they've impressed us since the start and our guests have continued to comment frequently on the extraordinary service. Without question, they exceeded all our expectaitons and provided us with a wedding we never dreamed of!

Perfect setting for a beautiful January wedding and reception! The wedding planners, Sofie and Kathleen, we’re knowledgeable and professional, and planned a beautiful event from start to finish. The day of coordinator , Maddie, did an amazing job of keeping everything on track, and the wait staff were amazing. The food was delicious! Even with very chilly weather, the tent and heaters for outside kept everyone comfortable. Would highly recommend this wedding for a wedding, reception, or any large event!

WOW! What an amazing location, stately and historic. I was blown away. I truly can't say enough about the service, the food, decor and the excellent experience of being at my stepson's wedding at the Gadsden House. It was the perfect Charleston venue. We had the wedding and reception all in one place and the turnover was flawless. I honestly could not get over the beautiful detail and stunning setting.
The experience was purely Southern with extra personal touches throughout. The absolute icing on the cake were the people that took care of us from planning to service to food. It was simple fabulous.

I really don’t even know where to begin when it comes to KSHG and the Gadsden House. I had three different wedding dates due to COVID, and Kathleen, Sofie, and Maddie couldn’t have been more patient and kind. They were so beyond supportive through the entire wedding process and became true friends. Beyond their incredible help, the day of the wedding was magical. The staff, environment, food, and drinks were all UNREAL. I still have people talking about the food at my wedding months later. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Charleston, look no further than the Gadsden House, you will not regret it!

Where do I begin with the fabulousness that is the KSHG team and their venues? We hosted both our rehearsal dinner (at Upstairs at Midtown) and wedding reception (at the Gadsden House) with KSHG and can’t imagine having done it any other way. From the initial email correspondence to our send off at the end of the evening, each team member maintained an unmatched level of professionalism, care and willingness to accommodate. We are still blown away by how incredible the team at KSHG is and we’ll continue to remark on how they truly made our wedding that much more special. The service is impeccable - Sofie, Maddie, and all the staff, were beyond attentive, patient and thorough throughout the entirety of our wedding weekend. Not only did they treat my husband and me like kings and queens, the team also took excellent care of our wedding party. From never letting our glasses run dry to greeting us & our wedding party with the most delicious food and beverages as we got off the bus, no detail was too small or overlooked. They took great care to make sure we - and even my parents - were fed, hydrated, and never wanting for anything throughout both of our events. We must also rave about the food, THE FOOD! All we can say is “Wow!”. Honestly, one of the best meals we’ve ever had - not just good for “wedding food”. The chef perfectly executed our menu modifications and requests. Our guests have not stopped commenting on how good our food was…we even had people calling us the next day wanting to know if they could get more shrimp & grits (seriously, add these to your menu if you’re booking with KSHG)! Because the venues speak for themselves, I’ll keep this portion brief - the venues are well-maintained, clean and of course, aesthetically beautiful. Personally, I don’t think you will find a prettier bridal suite than the Gadsden House. In sum, we could praise KSHG for pages but if you read nothing else from this review, know this: no other vendor or venue compares; there is simply no one that can do it as well as KSHG. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The best!! Lindsey, Kathleen & the whole King Street Hospitality Group were absolutely amazing throughout the whole process and truly made sure that we had the best day ever. The venue itself is stunning with the most beautiful & comfortable bridal suite to spend the morning getting ready in. The KSHG team puts their hearts into each couple they work with and that shines throughout the entire planning process. And the food!! Our guests (and us!) are still raving about how delicious the food was along with the best service. We barely made it back down the aisle after the ceremony and Lindsey had a tray of hors d’oeuvres waiting for us! They not only made sure to take care of us but also our five year old daughter – her one request was a chocolate fountain, when we asked Kathleen about it at the tasting she did not miss a beat before saying of course! On the wedding night, Gabby’s eyes lit up when she saw a chocolate fountain especially for her complete with all of her favorites to dip! There was not one minute of the entire wedding day where our whole family didn’t feel completely catered to. We truly did have the best day ever and we are forever grateful for the King Street Hospitality Group for all their work to ensure it was perfect!

The level of professionalism, hospitality, flexibility, and attention to detail King Street exemplified for our wedding at the Gadsden House was incredible.

Over the almost 2 years of planning, Kathleen and the team were extremely responsive answering all our questions and concerns via phone, email, and even FaceTime. Kathleen is one of the sweetest people and went out of her way to make sure our experience was stress-free as possible.

The amount of care the team puts into the property to keep it clean, updated, and fresh is seriously impressive. The historic house is extremely well taken care of and the fusion between classic Charleston charm and modern touches had our guests stunned.

On the actual day, the staff’s attention to detail was unmatched. Our guests raved about the service from passing of hors d'oeuvres, bartendering, and serving of food. Speaking of food, our dinner, which we booked through their kitchen, was hands down one of the highlights of the evening. Our guests are still dreaming of the chicken and waffles!!

When we booked the Gadsden, we thought we were just getting a beautiful venue. What we didn’t know is we were also getting an incredible support team and some of the best cuisine Charleston has to offer making it the most incredible day we could have ever asked for.

Because of KSHG, our vision was brought to life and even better than we could have dreamed. The Gadsden House is a true Charleston treasure and we couldn’t have picked a more special place to celebrate our marriage.

The Gadsden House and King Street Hospitality Group made our wedding absolutely perfect. From our initial venue tour to the booking process, food tasting and the patience of the team with all of our questions throughout the whole process - this team was absolutely perfect. the venue itself is gorgeous - offering so much natural character for the ceremony/reception/pictures and a beautiful bridal sweet and grooms quarters for getting ready. It is so great to have the house for the whole day to get ready and to see your vision come to life as the vendors set up. And the food... the food was DELICIOUS. Lastly, the staff, specifically Sofie and Kathleen, were both absolutely a pleasure to work with. They are so good at their jobs and very detail oriented - making the planning process a breeze. I wouldn't have changed a single thing and am so thankful for the amazing KSHG team .

We booked the Gadsden House about a year and half before our actual wedding. A lot changed in that period of time, especially with the pandemic. The Gadsden House was a perfect fit for the wedding we planned as well as the wedding we actually had. Initially we planned for over 100 people. In the end, we didn't want to postpone so we cut the wedding down to a handful of close family and friends. The venue is perfect for a large wedding or a more intimate one. The beautiful rooms and courtyards provide so many options not matter a bride and groom envision. Getting married in front of the large fireplace with lots of flowers and candles upstairs was extremely romantic.

Food and drink are provided through the Gadsden House and it is a plus. The food was excellent and they were very accommodating throughout the process as we changed the guest count. If we could have, we would have had all of the food options. Our guests mentioned the good food on several occasions.

We can't thank the staff enough from the day we booked the venue to the day of the event. Everyone was professional, flexible, and very welcoming. Things went smoothly in large part due to them.

I couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else! Everything about The Gadsden House and King Street Hospitality Group in top notch and truly unparalleled. We got married in November after postponing from April. The team at Gadsden House made changing our date as seamless and easy as possible. We used KSHG as our onsite coordinator and couldn't ask for a better group of planners. Sofie and Kathleen pay attention to every detail and always responded to emails very quickly. On my wedding day, they had calm energy and made sure everything went according to plan. They were there when you needed them and were always one step ahead to make sure not only me and my husband had what we needed but our entire wedding party and group of guests. Maddie was beyond helpful during the day in making sure I had water and lip gloss. I cant say enough about The Gadsden House and their team!

The venue is absolutely stunning, our guests could not stop raving about how delicious the food was and the staff blew away and exceeded all of our expectations. Lindsey and Kathleen went above and beyond to make sure the night went smoothly and made sure we had everything we could possibly need (and then some). Even our guests were stunned by how attentive they were to us, our guests and every single detail of our wedding day. With our small, intimate wedding with a guest count of 30, they still gave us the grand treatment! This venue, the staff and the food is something we will continue to talk about for a long, long time. Can't recommend the Gadsden House and staff enough. Not only is the venue a stunner and meticulously maintained, but Kathleen and staff truly go above and beyond to make sure you and your guests have amazing day. They are also incredibly knowledgeable and responsive, which made the planning process and decision making seamless. The food and specialty drinks are top notch. The hospitality and generosity shown by Kathleen, Sofie, Lindsey, and everyone else at KSHG is out of this world!! They are so incredibly sweet and sincere, and the personalized touches that they provided from start to finish made me feel like we were the only couple they were working with. My fiancé couldn't make it to the food tasting, so they gave me a take home box of leftovers for him to try. After the ceremony, they had a cocktail in each of our hands before we could even sign the marriage license and they made sure to bring us hors d'oeuvres during photos so we didn't miss out on our own wedding food. Kathleen made sure we had our plates for dinner before anyone else and I was never without a drink in my hand all night long. The two little boys (age 4 and 6) in our wedding party walked up to the kitchen staff and asked for burgers when no one was paying attention. My mom went to apologize and they told her not to worry - they were going down the street to their restaurant to make sure the boys had some burgers and fries! They truly know how to make you feel special and made what could've been a stressful day an absolute dream. Not to mention, the venue itself is GORGEOUS! Kathleen Shuler and her team from KSHG are outstanding. We were over the moon with happiness at our event. Kathleen and her team were highly organized and detail oriented. They delivered in achieving the aesthetic that we requested as well as well as making it the most dreamy gathering ever. Perfection! The most beautiful setting for our destination wedding. After we decided to have our wedding in Charleston, South Carolina, we saw the Gadsden House on Instagram and knew instantly we had to book the venue for our February wedding. The team at Gadsden House and at King Street Hospitality took care of everything! Every detail was planned to perfection and they truly made planning from afar the easiest process. They even made sure we had a shovel on site when we buried our bourbon on the property a month before our wedding! Charleston is absolutely known for its food and the food at the Gadsden House does not disappoint! Every one of our guests are still raving about our wedding and we truly have the team there to thank for the best day! If you're at all considering a wedding in Charleston this is the place to be!

Everything was just perfect for my wedding in February thanks to the team at The Gadsden House! Not only are Kathleen, Sofie and Lindsey beyond accommodating and responsive to your every need, they are the sweetest and made every thing I wanted go off without a hitch! I couldn't believe how quick they were to hand us drinks and food when we had a spare moment - I certainly was not complaining! The venue speaks for itself - it's absolutely gorgeous and is the perfect canvas for any bride's creativity. Something that can't be missed is the incredible food by the catering team. People could not get over the chicken and waffle appetizers, I believe they were rushing the poor servers as soon as they came out of the kitchen :). I truly was in awe of the spectacular service we received throughout the entire wedding planning process, I would pick this venue and team over and over again! Our day was truly everything we could have asked for and more!!

We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding! The property itself is stunning – an idyllic example of Charleston charm and beautifully restored. It was wonderful to have so many gorgeous spaces to choose from when planning the day. And the bridal suite! I definitely underestimated what a fabulous amenity that was. It was a lovely, calm place to get ready with my close friends and a welcome sanctuary throughout the evening to catch a breath and fix makeup or hair.

Our wedding day was brilliantly effortless and fun – in no small part thanks to the incredible KSHG team. Kathleen and Lindsey were so kind, genuinely warm and helpful, and incredibly attentive to every single detail throughout the day. Prosecco, appetizers, bobby pins, you-name-it just *magically* appeared throughout the evening at the perfect moment. They have perfected the art of being present, thorough, and supportive without being intrusive. Kathleen and Lindsey made it easy to let go of logistics and turn off my 'planning' brain because they were so on top of everything. Truly, it would not have been the same wedding without their presence and care!

Similarly, the KSHG catering team was excellent! The dinner service was meticulous and the food was amazing – many of our guests made a point of commenting on how delicious the food was, including two of our friends who are chefs themselves. (Tough crowd to wow :)

I could rave about this venue and this team at length – TLDR: they are AMAZING and we are SO grateful for everything they did to make our wedding a truly memorable day!

We had the best day of our lives in large part to the Gadsden House and its staff. We looked at a multitude of venues and the romantic feel of the home coupled with the southern charm of the veranda and courtyard made it the perfect Charleston venue for us. However, what blew us away was the responsiveness of Sofie and Kathleen - how they catered to every request we had- and the waitstaff the day of. We are still getting comments from guests about the how amazing and professional they were. They truly helped make our southern, black tie wedding come alive. Could not recommend this venue enough!!

Attended a wedding here and it was fantastic. Staff is great and sprung into immediate action and saved the day when it started to rain (albeit for 10 mins). It's a really nice setting and the food was off the charts. Well done!

The Gadsen House was a stunning venue and such a charming and versatile space. We attended during a summer wedding and had cocktail hour on the top floor that opened to a deck with gorgeous views and dancing under a tented space. Cocktail hour and dinner were also served indoors alongside a beautiful interior - the space is adaptable to a range of events and seasons. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely attentive in keeping every aspect of the evening moving smoothly. Would absolutely recommend this venue!

BEYOND. That is how I would describe King Street Hospitality Group. We ended up having all our wedding events with them. Welcome Cocktail Party at Vintage Lounge, Wedding at The Gadsden House, After Party at Blind Tiger. The Gadsden House, quintessential southern charm but a modern space inside. The Gadsden House is blank canvas inside were you can create any of your design visions. There are so many versatile spaces that we used the upstairs for a ceremony, downstairs for cocktail hour, courtyard for a tented dinner and upstairs for a dance party. Charleston weather can be volatile and the outdoor spaces at the house are amazing but if you need to enlist your rain plan like we did – the house is so beautiful your guests will not even notice. Then there is the food. The food was EXCELLENT. This is not your average bland chicken and steak wedding we all go to. Everything we had was so delicious and our guests were commenting all night about the food.
All the staff is so professional and accommodating. You will be in good hands with their team and they will make your wedding something you will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you KSHG!

You and your entire team on the wedding day were absolutely AMAZING! I have not stopped singing all of your praises since we left Charleston.
I personally have not done many destination weddings in my 14 year career as a wedding coordinator, due to the lack of control I have working with vendors that I don’t have any experience or relationships with. Planning a wedding long distance can be stressful for sure. But everyone at Gadsden House has a professionalism and passion for what you do and it shows. Every time I had a question about ANYTHING, you were so quick to respond and put our minds at ease. That mean so so much!!!!
The food…..oh the food…it was remarkable…..and the presentation was top notch. Your servers were kind and knowledgeable, and never once looked annoyed. I know that seems like a silly thing to say and compliment on….but I see it all to often at weddings.
If I could have taken you all back to Illinois with me to show these Mid-westerners how it’s done, I would have in a heartbeat.

We could not be happier with our decision to book Gadsden House for our wedding reception! We were planning from out of state, and Kathleen and her team were so understanding and accommodating of our schedules during our trips to Charleston. Even before we booked the Gadsden House, Kathleen allowed my mom (who lived close by) to tour the space and send us pictures to help us decide if Gadsden House was the right venue for us. And it was the PERFECT venue for us! Gadsden House has such classic Charleston charm, and it is the most beautiful setting for a southern wedding.

Everything about our wedding day was absolutely amazing, from getting ready in the gorgeous on-site bridal suite to the reception layout to the flow of the evening and the sendoff. Kathleen and her team are absolute rock stars! They worked seamlessly with my wedding planners and vendors, and I knew I would have nothing to stress about. They are professional but so friendly, and they genuinely care about every detail that goes into not just your wedding day, but also the entire planning process and overall experience. And THE FOOD! If you book the Gadsden House, you absolutely MUST use their catering. Our friends and family are still talking about how delicious the food was almost six months later! Let me assure you, it’s SO much for than your typical “wedding food”! Gadsden House was even more than we could have imagined, and we’re forever grateful to Kathleen and her team for making our wedding day the best ever!

Our wedding day at The Gadsden House with the King Street Hospitality Group team was exceptional. Kathleen's attention to detail and her professionalism make her an outstanding planner, but her ability to connect with her brides, her communication skills (answering every email within a few hours, on weekends, on vacation etc.), her transparency and above all her kindness is what makes her a special person.

The entire KSHG team went above and beyond the day of our wedding. Lindsey and Cassidy were never far away. They held my flowers and my dress. They never let us have an empty glass or hand. They not only served myself and my new husband all day and night, but our families as well. They constantly checked on us, and didn't even bat an eye when a certain MOB spilled her champagne all over them (sorry, Lindsey!).

Maybank Catering (a part of KSHG) knocked it out of the park. All of our guests raved about how excellent the food was. My husband and I love food, so it was very important to us that our food be super good. Everything was SO good, and don't worry! Kathleen and the team will be sure you eat on your wedding day. They were even kind of enough to pack up a whole spread of food and cake for us to enjoy after we got to our hotel.

It is hard to put into words how sincerely grateful myself and my husband are for Kathleen, Lindsey and the KSHG team. They are the most service minded individuals I've ever met, and it brings me to tears to think about how the kindness they all extended us the day of our wedding and the months leading up to it. If you want a truly unique experience and you are considering choosing The Gadsden House, do it.

The Gadsden House exceeded every one of my wedding exceptions! The KSHG team was so professional and responsive during wedding planning. Day of, the bridal suite was the perfect place to relax and get ready with my best friends all morning! Sofie made sure I had everything I needed the whole night, and never let me have an empty glass. The Gadsden House is no doubt a beautiful venue but the customer service is what made my wedding a night to remember forever. Thank y’all again for making it so perfect!

Everything at the Gadsden House was amazing! The layout of the venue is spectacular for an outdoor wedding. We were married at the Gadsden House in April 2019 and the venue was perfect for our spring wedding. The simple and clean decor was a wonderful backdrop for our big day. We could not have asked for a more beautiful venue!

The Gadsden House truly was the perfect venue for a Charleston wedding. We had about 90 people flying in from New England so we wanted to make sure they had a real Charleston experience. Of course, no bride wants rain on her wedding day but we made the decision to have it somewhere that would not ruin our day if it did. Not only is the inside of the home absolutely stunning but the porches are the perfect place for pictures as well. Not only does this venue cover the basics (easy parking, MORE than enough space for 120+ guest wedding, indoor and outdoor space) but it also has a few extras that can't be compared to anything else. My girls and I all arrived to the Gadsden House at 9:30am to begin getting ready. When we arrived to the gorgeous bridal suite Ash&Co had already arrived and set up. It was perfect to be able to spend the whole day at the venue and not have to worry about transporting anyone after hair & make up. We went with their in house catering team and received nothing but rave reviews from everyone. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff made us feel amazing the entire night. I don't think there was a single moment that someone was not asking me if I needed anything. We accidentally picked bridge run weekend (sorry team) and everything was still absolutely flawless. It truly was the best day ever. I can't thank Kathleen and her team enough!

Having planned a large corporate event for my company in Charleston a year prior to my engagement, I knew of quite a few event/wedding venues in the area, but when I came across the Gadsden House I was stunned (in the best way possible). Not only is it grand, beautiful, and perfectly situated in downtown Charleston, but it’s also meticulously maintained and preserved to historical perfection, from the original fire place mantles, to the beautiful chandlers and sconces, to the shrubs/landscaping outside – every aspect of The Gadsden House is absolutely stunning.

As an out-of-town bride, I had to secure a venue and a date without having actually seen the venue in person. After talking with Kathleen and reviewing the detailed brochures she emailed to me, my mind was made up. It was the perfect venue to host our close friends and family for a truly unique Charleston experience!

Throughout the planning process, I knew we were in great hands with Kathleen. She is extremely organized, transparent, responsive, and above all else, kind. The entire experience with the venue, catering and bar was such a breeze – she makes it so easy and her online proposal system was so helpful as we worked through every aspect of our event.

We had tested out a few other caterers, but Maybank (part of King Street Hospitality Group) was by and large the best. The food on our wedding day was INCREDIBLE. I still have guests reaching out to me almost a month later, telling me how it was some of the best food (note: not just “wedding food”) they have ever had! My husband and I are foodies, so the catering was very important to us, and Kathleen and her team 100 percent delivered.

But if I had to choose one thing I believe to be truly unique about The Gadsden House, Kathleen and her staff, it would be the service. Having worked in many restaurants throughout college, and as an event planner myself, there’s nothing I find more important than a five-star quality service level. If I had to rate Kathleen and her team’s service, I would give them 6 stars. I have never in my life worked with such a kind, professional and service minded staff in my entire life. They were on-top of EVERYTHING. I will never forget the moment one of the bartenders came up to me while I was eating dinner because he noticed the ice in my drink had melted. He offered to get me a new one, and when I asked him if he knew what it was, he confidently recited my drink order back to me. I was amazed! Or the time my wedding party gathered in the parking lot after the ceremony had concluded and servers came rushing out with appetizers to fuel our bridesmaids and groomsmen, putting me and my new husband at ease that our closest friends were taken care of.

We feel so incredibly lucky that we found The Gadsden House, Kathleen and her team. They made our day absolutely perfect, and we could not be more grateful. If you want to give your guests a truly unique, five-star experience, please choose the Gadsden House. I promise you are in the best hands !!!

Our wedding at The Gadsden House was truly incredible! Kathleen and the rest of the team were flawless and everyone took such great care of us and our guests. Everyone was clearly working very hard all day but had such a calm, effortless presence that made everything feel so smooth. Our families could not have been happier! Our guests were blown away by the beautiful setting of the Gadsden House. We also used the in-house catering and received SO many complements on the food. Everyone had seconds! Kathleen was always super responsive, no matter how small the question and completely gracious toward anything we asked. Our day was everything we hoped for and more!

I got married at the Gadsden House and couldn't have imagined our day anywhere else after that. Kathleen was our wedding planner and coordinator and we couldn't have done it without her. The entire planning process was incredible and not at all stressful. Kathleen is so organized and answered every question in a timely manner, providing us with opinions and advice when we needed it. The day of was beautiful and perfect. We were able to get ready in the bridal suite and had everything we needed. Our guests loved the venue and couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was. We are so happy we chose the Gadsden House and would recommend it to any couple that asked!

The moment I told my planner my vision for my wedding "Kate Spade in the Hamptons in the 20's" she immediately knew the Gadsen House would be the perfect canvas (secretly I had already fallen in love with the venue online). Kathleen's team is incredibly professional and detail oriented. We also used King Street Hospitality for our catering. All the guests loved the food and wine selections, which were elegantly presented to the tables in unison. They were very understanding of any special requests, including a gluten free meal, and even made sure that there would be the special ingredients available at the bar for my mom's personal favorite drink! The brides quarters upstairs was the perfect place to get ready and if there was any problems that day I was blissfully unaware. The venue does not come with any decor, which can make rentals a bit more expensive, but if you have a bright color scheme like our wedding than it's white walls, gorgeous wood floors, charming fireplaces, and sparkling chandeliers make the ideal backdrop. Wish I could do it all over again!

My fiancé was not picky about the venue, so I visited the Gadsden House with just my wedding coordinator. I fell in love with the Gadsden House the moment I walked into the courtyard. The brick and slate paved courtyard, the porch piazzas, the classic Charleston parlor rooms, and the beautiful stairs make the perfect Charleston wedding venue. Kathleen is so helpful and easy to work with. The bridal suite on the 3rd floor is amazing with a full bath, kitchen, lots of mirrors and plenty of space to get ready with your bridesmaids, etc. on the big day. I also used the Gadsden House for my bridal photos and they are stunning. I booked the Gadsden House on the spot when I visited. I highly recommend it to everyone. I have only one word of warning and it is that you have to bring everything in your self. The house does not come with tables, chairs, etc. so you will have to find a separate vendor for those items. We used Snyder.

The Gadsden House was the perfect venue to host my fall wedding! I fell in love with the old southern charm meets modern style of the house and it is located downtown so very convenient for all of our guests traveling (this was a must for us when looking at wedding venues)! The bridal suite located on the third floor has beautiful decor and is perfect for getting ready with your girls! Kathleen was amazing to work with and always responsive, and her team the day-of were so attentive! Our guests were full of glowing compliments of the venue and their staff. I can not say enough wonderful things about The Gadsden House. From the first day we met Kathleen I knew we were in good hands! Kathleen responded to all of my questions within the hour 90% of the time, and if not within the hour, it was less than 24 hours later. Kathleen made the entire process so easy and so enjoyable! Our wedding could not have been more perfect. Kathleen and her team did not miss a beat. The service was SPECTACULAR.. the food was AMAZING and venue is STUNNING. It was perfect. I would plan 10 more weddings if I could do it with Kathleen and her team. I can not say thank you enough to Kathleen and her team - you all are THE BEST!

The Gadsden House was the perfect venue for our Charleston wedding!! I recommend The Gadsden House for the old Charleston charm but with a chic, modern feel. The Gadsden House is simply beautiful! Kathleen and her team are very responsive and helped us make informed decisions throughout the entire process. We had 150 guests. The ceremony was outside in the large courtyard, cocktail hour on the 2nd floor, a seated dinner outside with the food stations inside on the bottom floor, and a band and dancing in the smaller courtyard near the parking lot! Truly a magical evening!

When my planner asked if I wanted to tour the Gadsden House, I was hesitant because I thought I had already picked out my dream venue, but I thought why not. When my fiance and I toured, we both knew it was the perfect venue for us. We wanted an outdoor wedding at first, but didn't love the tented look. When we found Gadsden House, we were able to do a courtyard ceremony with the most amazing greenery covered gates. Cocktail hour was held on the second floor porch, overlooking a classic downtown Charleston sunset. The reception took place in 4 rooms of the house, as well as the 2 courtyards outside. Our guests LOVED the ability to freely go around the house and courtyard while feeling like they are not missing one minute of the big day. I highly recommend this venue! Kathleen and her team are the sweetest!

The Gadsden House was the perfect venue for my Southern wedding. The old-meets-modern style was a great blank slate for of all my décor ideas. We had the ceremony outdoors, cocktail hour inside, then flipped the courtyard for our stationed dinner. The courtyard was the perfect area for speeches and dancing, so that everyone could have a good view. Also, I cannot give enough praises to Kathleen as my wedding planner! She was so sweet and very responsive. Because she knows the Gadsden House so well, she knew how to best optimize the space and flow of the evening. She even had another day-of-coordinator that followed me to help me throughout the evening, touching up my makeup and getting me food/drinks! We were LOVED our experience with Kathleen and the King Street Hospitality Group, and cannot recommend this group enough!

Our wedding at the Gadsden House on 3-2-18 was everything we hoped for and more! The venue is beautiful, and Kathleen and her team were wonderful to work with! We got married at the Gadsden House last weekend on March 24 and it was absolute perfection. From our first visit to the venue in February 2017 until the wedding day we had the best experience. We worked with Kathleen who was with us every step of the way - helping to ensure we had the day of our dreams. She is prompt, responsive, kind, smart and understanding - the best person you could ever wish to work with to plan an event. The venue is beautiful and can hold a lot of people while still feeling intimate. There is also the option of having the event indoors which takes a lot of the stress of potential bad weather on your wedding day out of the planning process. The venue is downtown and yet feels out of the way and quiet - an oasis in historic Charleston that dresses up so well with flowers and candles and cafe lighting. You couldn't pick a better venue!

We chose Charleston for our destination wedding and couldn't have been more thrilled with The Gadsden House as our reception venue. There are so many gorgeous venue options in historic Charleston, but we felt that this venue centrally located downtown captured all things historic, charming, and elegant. The Gadsden House is a blank canvas, allowing each couple to infuse their personalities and choose vendors that tell their story best! Working in the wedding industry myself, it was so comforting to know that my questions would always be answered and the process would flow seamlessly. I can't thank Kathleen Shuler enough for her kind heart and dedication to ensuring the success of our wedding day. Kathleen was always more than willing to meet us for venue visits throughout the year, talk through floor plan diagrams, and recommend area vendors. The Gadsden house has so many options for ceremony space/cocktail hour/dinner/dancing. Depending on your guest count, you really have a good amount of flexibility in design! We loved the courtyard, the piazzas, the parlor rooms, and the incredible bridal suite! We can't wait to return for an anniversary visit.

This was the perfect venue for our destination wedding to Charleston. We fell in love with the fact it could be used for both a ceremony and reception space. It was beautiful and all of our guests simply loved it! The only drawback was there is no elevator so our grandparents had to get some help going up the stairs but they didn't seem to mind too much--and it is a historical house so I didn't expect one either. Kathleen was our planner and she was just awesome. She took care of all the details and things I had forgotten about and was also very flexible with several last minute changes. I cannot thank them enough for a magical wedding day!!!

Before King Street Hospitality Group bought the Gadsden House I have the privilege of living there. When I got engaged and saw it was a wedding venue my heart was set on it. They have done an amazing job with the renovations and it is an absolutely picturesque venue. The open floor plan with two large rooms on both the first and second floor allow for plenty of room to entertain guest. The double piazzas are perfect to grab a cocktail.

The oyster shell courtyard area was perfect for the ceremony with extra space on the piazza for more guests. The blue slate courtyard was the perfect spot to dance the night away with cafe lights strung through the trees. Their bridal suite is absolutely amazing and plenty of room even when you have 12 bridesmaids.

Kathleen is absolutely amazing and responds quickly to any question you can ask. Stuart and the staff were also amazing and honestly I don't know how they are so great. Anytime I turned around someone was there to help me with whatever I needed. I couldn't have ever imagined such a beautiful wedding but this venue made my dreams come true.

If you're looking for a beautiful downtown Charleston venue that comes with all the charm of Charleston AND an amazing staff to work with, then you've found the right venue with the Gadsden House. My fiancé and I booked the Gadsden House when it was still a construction zone during renovations, and never looked back. Blythe and the rest of the team were wonderful; responded quickly to our questions, worked well with our vendor teams and even helped us track down some hard-to-find drinks for our bar package. Our guests were wowed by the beauty of the house and courtyard area, and I can't imagine a more perfect place for our happiest day to have been spent. The bridal suite upstairs was an amazing place to spend the day preparing- it was a bonus!

Brooke and Kathleen really made the difference in our wedding experience at the Gadsden House last month. The event space is gorgeous and versatile, two big priorities for us going into the event. But in a city full of beautiful spaces, these two women really made the experience perfect. They were professional, attentive and helped us with everything you could think of leading up to and on the day of for the wedding. We recommend this venue and its staff to everyone!!!

Gadsden House is absolutely stunning and SO Charleston! It's an historic house from the 1700s that they restored. It still has original floors and original fireplaces, and then they painted all of the walls white so it's a blank canvas. All of the wall sconces are simple and elegant and the chandeliers are beautiful! We worked with Kathleen on getting all of the details and everything booked, and I could not be happier or more excited with this place!

We wanted a venue that could hold a ceremony and reception. At first I didn't plan on having a wedding coordinator, but the venue required one. I was very glad about that because she did more work than I could imagine helping with choosing linens, rentals, and set up. She kept in contact with vendors and was so helpful for everything the day of as well. We were able to hold a small ceremony and larger reception without too much "flipping" of the space. We saved money by having everything in the same venue which was super helpful. We had access to the bridal suite all day on the third floor of the house which contained a small kitchen and two bathrooms as well as a large room to get ready. There was also a larger kitchen for the caterer to use which helped reduce cost for another rental for the kitchen. We had to provide extra lighting as most of the reception was outside and quite dark without any lighting from the venue. The cafe lighting and extra uplighting as well as candles surrounding the dance floor and outlining the rest of the venue made it perfect and wasn't a huge extra cost. We ground was perfectly paved, so we did not need to rent a dance floor. The house was beautiful and we were able to use the first two floors which was great for holding food. It is an old Charleston style home, so that blocked off all the rooms instead of being open floor plan. Still very beautiful and loved the venue. It was the most perfect night.

What an amazing venue The Gadsden House was! We booked this place before it was finished with renovations and I am so glad we did. The finished product was better than I could of ever imagined. Every little detail was thought about and it really shows in the charm and character throughout the inside and outside of the home.

We had our entire wedding outside and the space was perfect for the ceremony and reception. Kathleen Shuler, our wedding planner, flipped the venue for us so after our wedding the ceremony area was turned into the Photo Booth and seating areas. Everything was set up perfectly and all of our guests were in love with the decorations and ambiance of the venue. Even though our entire wedding was outside, the inside is to die for! There are 3 other fabulous rooms that you could use, we used one for our first look and another for pictures after the wedding. There is even a bridal suite to get ready before the ceremony.

I have to give mad props to Kathleen though. Without her the venue, decorations, flowers, food, decor, everything wouldn't of been the same. Oh, I forgot to mention, we live in Nashville! I was having to plan a wedding from another state. Kathleen is so amazing at what she does that I didn't have to worry once throughout our engagement. I thought I would be so stressed out, but Kathleen took care of everything!! I cannot thank her enough for everything she did for me! If you are looking for a wedding planner you HAVE to use Kathleen!!

We planned a smaller (about 50 guests) destination wedding in Charleston. We were looking for a place that had all the charm of the city that we fell in love with in the first place and options to move the wedding indoors in the event of rain so we wouldn't have to work in the added expense of tents. Due to some time restrictions we had to book the Gadsden House before even seeing it in person, but it was totally worth it. The venue is completely gorgeous inside and out, including that dreamy bridal suite on the top floor. Kathleen was our contact and she was always 100% professional and courteous and answered all of our emails promptly. We also used Maybank Catering, which is owned by the same company that owns Gadsden House, and our guests still talk about how outstanding the food was. One thing to keep in mind is that this venue does not provide rentals, so this isn't the best option for someone looking for one-stop shopping, but if you're like me and you prefer choosing all your rental details anyway this should work out just fine as long as you budget appropriately. Overall it was a really wonderful experience and I'd recommend The Gadsden House to anybody!

Beautiful historic venue in the heart of Charleston. Perfect for a ceremony onsite in the courtyard. This venue has it all from shunning courtyards and wrap around porches to an elegant interior. Be aware you will need to rent all furniture for the inside and outside of the home as the venue is a blank canvas. The 3rd floor bridal suite however does come furnished and is a nice place to get ready- temperature wise it was very hot even in October! I had to ask the air be turned down in the home during dinner after guests complained. Our in house wedding planner Kathleen was very professional and brought a lot of knowledge and ideas. My one critique would be the last 1-2 hours of the night seemed to be focused on packing up instead of guest satisfaction. It would have been better to pack up after 11 pm when guests were gone- I had to bustle my own dress with safety pins after it fell and pass out my own glow sticks to guests after no assistance could be found. The venue was decorated beautifully and I would recommend the venue to anyone. Thanks for everyone's efforts.
