Best Food to Match the Best Day Ever!

Having yummy food was a big priority for us when we were planning our wedding. The Deco Catering exceeded all expectations! We are so pleased with their services; the planning process through the wedding day was so easy with their help and flexibility. We received many compliments on our wedding food - from the butler served unique appetizers to the full dinner to the desserts and late night snacks - our bellies were full and everyone was so happy. We would recommend the Deco for all catering needs!

Excellent wedding food!

We hired Deco for our wedding caterer and their food is to die for! It’s way better than your traditional wedding dinner food. All of their dishes have so much flavor and all of our guests genuinely enjoyed their meals. The staff at Deco was more than accommodating and were absolutely wonderful to work with. We were able to schedule a personal tasting experience and try all of the food in advance. They made that such a fun experience for us. Deco was also super accommodating with all allergies and meal situations, which was so easy to communicate and get taken care of in advance. We loved working with Deco and their food is AMAZING!

Amazing Food and Amazing Team

When we first worked with Deco, Danielle was our coordinator. She was incredibly knowledgeable about our venue as well as Deco’s menu options. She was wonderful to work with for our tasting, and she was super friendly. We had to postpone our 6/6/20 wedding, and she worked quickly to get us rescheduled to 6/12/21.

Due to the slow roll out of the vaccine at the beginning of 2021 and 80% of our guests coming from out of state, we decided to push our date one last time to 11/6/21. As soon as we rebooked with the venue, I reached out to Danielle to reschedule again. I found out that Danielle had left Deco, and Antigoni was our new coordinator. She got us rescheduled right away which was helpful.

Prior to COVID, Danielle met with us for a tasting. I can’t tell you how amazing the food was just at the tasting! I’ve been to weddings before, and most of them had average food. We did our tasting in 2019, and we kept talking about how good it was up until our actual wedding.

A couple weeks before the wedding, our event manager Sam reached out to confirm all our counts and made sure we had everything we needed set up for the day. She was so easy to work with. I’m so appreciative of the entire staff at Deco!

The day of, the food was just as good as we remembered! Our passed appetizers were the California sliders, sweet chili chicken skewers, and bruschetta. Our entree choices were the beef tenderloin, wild rice stuffed chicken, and three cheese lasagna. We also had a late-night snack of tomato soup shooters with grilled cheese. It’s been two weeks since our wedding, and our friends and family are still talking about the food!

I’m so thankful we had such an amazing caterer. Our food was amazing, and everyone was so easy to work with!

Loved Deco!

We had such a great experience with Deco. They accommodated us during the pandemic, were incredibly responsive, helpful, and great to work with over the last 6 months. The value was amazing; we can’t tell you how many comments we got about this being the best wedding food ever. And we agree! Thanks, Deco!

Delicious and Beautiful Food!

We did butler-passed appetizers and had an appetizer buffet for dinner. All of the food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! The variety was great, and the Deco was able to accommodate the different dietary needs of our guests (vegan, dairy-free, etc. options.). The Deco was easy to coordinate with and work with. They made the perfect amount of food--everyone got enough to eat and there were hardly any leftovers.

They also made our cake. We went with a carrot cake, which looked beautiful and tasted great.

Deco was so accommodating!

We had a limited list of vendors to chose from for food and beverage. Not only was Deco the most affordable option, but the food was great too. Danielle was extremely responsive and easy to work with. She let us pay in multiple installments and special ordered Busch Light for my Dad, Fulton Seltzer for me and made sure to order a special meal to accommodate my dietary restrictions. We had light passed apps with a plated dinner. There was one small miscommunication about the open hours for the bar, but the staff on site quickly remedied it and Danielle addressed it afterwards as well.

Amazing Experience

Deco was so great to work with. They went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect and were so accommodating to all of our requests. They were incredibly reasonably priced, and the food was absolutely amazing! We got married 1.5 months ago and people are still telling us that they had the best food they've ever had at a wedding at our reception. We definitely recommend them!

Wonderful, beautiful food!

We used Deco for our wedding and we could not be happier! We have gotten SO many compliments on the food. Deco also provided our wedding cake, which looked beautiful and tasted great! I highly recommend Deco!

We had a wonderful experience working with Heikki and the Deco crew - as others note, Heikki is extraordinarily responsive and we loved their flexibility. We knew right away we wanted to work with Deco as we remembered their food being great at a friend's wedding, and once we saw their extremely reasonable prices, we moved forward right away. The team was extremely professional on the day of the wedding and everything went flawlessly! Got rave reviews for the food all around.

Food was the most important part of my wedding to me. Deco helped me decide how many appetizers I needed, and what food service I needed. And they were willing and able to accommodate those with allergies, and even brought in lefsa! (a family favorite)

Deco was honestly the best. Heikki was so responsive throughout the process. The food and presentation on my wedding day were amazing. I honestly was so impressed. But not only was I impressed but my guests were shocked. I had so many people come up to me during and even days after the wedding and the first thing they said was the quality of food was the best they have ever had. Deco is a quality run catering company and I would recommend them to everyone.

Deco's food was heaven on a plate. Our guests raved and their service was impeccable. They guided us on menu selection and helped create food that honored our respective cultures and was vegetarian friendly. Heikki and team rocked this celebration and exceeded our expectations!!!

We could not have been happier with our choice of Deco for our Aria wedding. We planned our wedding from out of town, and initially picked Deco because Heikki was so responsive and easy to work with by e-mail. We can not stress this enough - the response time and attentiveness was incredible. The food was delicious and we heard many compliments from our guests (including that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding). Deco even thought of bringing along paper plates for our late pizza (not even ordered through Deco.) They were great!

AMAZING!!!! Seriously amazing. They were willing to work with our budget and wishes to have a different wedding menu. We did burgers and pretzels! They are super responsive and do a great job. Especially Heather Asbury. She is amazing and literally gets back to you within an hour every time. Ask to work with her. Literally my favorite person/vendor out of everyone who I had to deal with during 18 months of wedding planning. HIGHLY recommend!

I chose my wedding venue (413 on Wacouta) so that I could hire Deco Catering for my wedding. Their positive reviews, reputation, and menu contributed to us hiring Deco Catering for our wedding. I cannot tell you how many guests at our wedding told us it was the best wedding food they had ever had. I was elated because that is exactly why I hired Deco Catering.

At our initial tasting with Deco Catering, the food blew us away. Everything was plated beautifully, seasoned properly, and cooked to perfection. We chose our favorite appetizers and entrees easily and decided to go with a buffet. I knew I wanted the Deco Catering buffet because of the amount of dishes included for my guests. I wanted them to feel as if they were at a King's feast of delicious delicacies and I feel that we accomplished that.

The salmon and beef tenderloin were absolute perfection. They were 5 star quality and I saw several guests go back for seconds. The floral centerpiece, tiered fruit display, and plating of the buffet blew people away. I received so many compliments I cannot even explain!

Deco Catering exceeded our expectations which were pretty high. It was the best wedding food people had every experienced. I highly recommend hiring Deco Catering for their class, customer service, attention to detail and DELICIOUS food! You cannot go wrong with this family owned and operated business! #staylocal

Deco is the best!!! We had them cater our wedding at Aria last weekend, and it was one of the best decisions we made while wedding planning. The food was delicious (we kept hearing over and over how good it was from guests), the service was excellent, and they are SO easy to work with. Our photographer commented that when he saw the Deco truck pull up, he knew he'd be eating really well! Their pricing is also extremely reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. If you want a beautiful and delicious buffet without any planning headaches, hire Deco!

The Deco has hands down the best food I've ever had from a catering company. The staff are awesome to work with. We were invited back for a second tasting after they had added new meal choices to their menu because they were so excited for us to try them. I would 100% recommend this caterer.

From the first tasting, the Deco team was a breeze to work with, and their food was incredible. Heikki always responded to phone calls and emails quickly and with all the information we needed (we were planning our wedding from out of town, so responsiveness was important)! We also worked with them on dessert, which everyone at the wedding loved. Having a Scandinavian company cater our MN wedding was also a plus for us!

We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Deco Catering. The owners were friendly, professional, and responsive. They provided a free tasting and wide variety of menu options. The food itself was *amazing* - we received many compliments that it was the best wedding food our guests had ever tasted, and we agree. The presentation was beautiful, and the staff were excellent. One suggestion - bring large food containers to the venue, as they will pack up delicious leftovers for you, but you need to have your own containers. Deco was also very reasonably priced compared to other quotes we received, and the quality exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

Deco provided us with the most amazing food for our wedding. We could not have been happier with the presentation, taste, and professionalism of the company. Heikki was excellent to work with. My husband and I used Deco Catering for our Oct 2014 wedding and we LOVED working with them. They were very Minnesota-nice and helpful from our first contact with them all the way until after our wedding. We received SO MANY compliments on our food from all of our guests. We heard this a lot, "this is the best wedding food I have ever had". Not only do you get a ton of food but many different varieties and the arrangement of the buffet was BEAUTIFUL! The display of food was artistic. They provided us with a private tasting and everything we tried was amazing so it was really difficult to choose what we had. We ended up doing a buffet style dinner with two meat options (stuffed chicken breasts and beef tenderloin) and that came with fresh fruit, 5 different salads (and I am not just talking about lettuce salads people there were pasta options as well), bread, cheese speads, potatoes, rice, seasonal roasted vegetables and a free vegetarian option (we chose lasagna). EVERYTHING was amazing! I would most definitely recommend Deco!

Working with Heikki at Deco Catering was a real joy. He was always very responsive, friendly and eager to please. We received many compliments on the quality of the food. We had salmon and beef tenderloin that people loved. The appetizers were also great. We could not have been more pleased. We so enjoyed working with Deco. Heikki was flexible with our guest count up to the last few days. Highly recommend!

The Deco catering was amazing to work with. Heikki and Soile were both wonderful and very open to our ideas for our wedding menu. We did butler passed appetizers during cocktail hour and a served plated dinner. The food turned out great, our guests are still raving about it. Overall, they were easy to communicate with, responsive to our requests and provided great service the day of. I would highly recommend working with them.

Sensational food; many of our guests said this was the best wedding food they had ever had. Every plate was gorgeous! A rep from the venue worked with the catering staff to create beautiful tables using my random stuff. Excellent food service. Team leader was easy to find and work with. It was important to have an excellent vegetarian option for our guests, but we preferred the vegan option and selected it. Solle suggested that we put a different cake on each table. Our guests loved this opportunity to socialize with neighboring tables to find a favorite. And Deco's cakes were phenomenal.

The Deco Catering served our wedding at the James J. Hill Library recently. I orginally had my heart set on a much more expensive, less responsive catering company that was over our budget and the event coordinator at JJH Library recommended Deco and said she chose them for her own daughter's wedding. We were so happy we did. They were very friendly, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. They didnt pressure us to add more to our menu and were very flexible with our guests that had dietary restrictions. I also appreciated that they didnt charge for minor changes/ add ons like some caterers do. Our guests raved about the food and we were told many times that it was the best wedding food they've ever had. I enjoy cooking, shopping at the farmers markets, and eating local seasonal cuisine so I appreciated that they suggested food that was in season and used very fresh vegetables for the sides and high quality ingredients. Their salads were very large, seasonal, and served before guests sat down, which everyone also appreciated due to the 7:30 dinner time. Thank you for all of your help!

We used the famous Helsinki Berry Cake for our wedding and it was a huge hit! Best wedding cake ever! They provided us a small 2 tiered display cake to cut for pictures and then we used their sheet cake version to be served for everyone else. People loved it! It was also significantly cheaper than any other wedding cake I found and tasted so much better!!!

We used Deco as our caterer for our wedding on August 8th, 2013. They were amazing. The food (and I am a picky wedding eater) tasted the same way as it did on our tasting visit. Our guest kept talking about the size of fish they received and others commented on how good the tenderloin was and vegetarian option. I had the tenderloin and it was so good. My husband ordered the salmon and his was delicious as well.

THE BEST PART: They were priced sooo well especially since we had a larger wedding (198). I would STRONGLY recommend them. Heikki and Soile were beyond wonderful and friendly.

Deco was AMAZING. They were one of the most reasonably priced caterers that we saw, and their food is spectacular. I received RAVE reviews on their food from my guests. They were extremely flexible with me and helped me select a menu that was not only outstanding, but wouldnt break the bank. They also allowed us to have THREE types of cake, for no additional charge! and their cost per person on the cake was one of the lowest we saw, even though the cake was delicious. I cant say enough about how wonderful they were. They only tiny thing that didnt exceed my expectations was one of their servers was rude to my mom's friend. However, I told Deco about it and they took my report very seriously. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Soile, Heikki, and their entire staff were wonderful from our very first meeting. We were blown away at the level of service provided. Customer service is HUGE for us, and Deco didn't miss a beat. We met with three different vendors that were on the vendor list for Semple Mansion and Deco was our favorite for a lot of reasons:

1. They have worked at Semple in the past and know the layout, the kitchen / workspace, and the staff at Semple which made it easy to have them provide the catering.

2. The quality of the food and portion sizes are great! All of our guests told us how great the food was! We went with a beef, chicken, vegetarian, and child meal choice for our guests. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the beef was tender. The sides (potatoes, asparagus, roasted carrots, wild rice and more) were all perfectly matched and tasted great!

3. Deco allowed us to pick several different items and options for our tasting including appetizers and then even had us stop by their local bakery to try out cake and cookie options. The food was all high quality and their recommendations for pairing sides with our main dish to match our theme and time of year were spot on!

4. We didn't go with them for the cake (although I sure it would have been great) but their staff was very helpful in setting up the cakes we had delivered from Cafe Latte.

5. Easy set up and take down. When we showed up in the afternoon, the tables were set and everything was ready and by the time our happy hour ended, the dining area had the salads on the tables with rolls and dressing and water glasses for all our guests to simply show up, sit down and start enjoying their meal! I don't recall anybody needing to ask for more water and the staff was attentive to removing empty plates without getting in the way.

6. Appetizers! We went with salmon, bruschetta, and spanakopita finger foods which were delicious!

The team at Deco did a great job and we would recommend them to anybody looking for great food for their wedding or other events!

I loved everything about working with Deco from start to finish. I had always wanted a buffet but my husband is from Chicago and was used to only plated dinners. After our tasting with Soile and seeing how beautiful her displays were, he changed his mind! They clearly care so much about their work. I have worked in the event industry so I tend to be "over communicative" and Heikki was always so responsive (even on Sundays!) and patient with me.

Everything went off without a hitch the day of; there was so much food and the cupcakes and small cake Soile had decorated for our cutting were SO beautiful. The Chicagoans were raving! The servers on duty were also very nice which deserves mentioning. Soile was even there and congratulated us but it was so quick everything was such a blur to me at that point - thank you Deco!

Also, their prices are incredibly reasonable in comparison to others. Our final bill was way less than what we budgeted - can't complain about that!

The Deco Catering Team from the first visit to the final wedding event, was awesome! The food was not only elegantly displayed, it was out of this world delicious! The guests at our daughter's wedding raved and continue to compliment days later. Thank you to Deco for attention to details, courteous service, and simply divine food!

I used Deco Catering to cater my wedding reception. They did a passed appetizer service and appetizer buffet. They were FABULOUS to work with, offered wonderful suggestions, created a beautiful dislay and were a great value. My guests were genuinely impressed - I'm still getting compliments on the food three weeks later!

The food was wonderful, every single guest commented on how good the food was, and that they would use them for their wedding. They were very easy and flexible to work with, very professional. Would highly recommend Deco Catering.

The best wedding food ever! Guests from my wedding are still calling and raving about the food asking if we can get the recipes so they can re-create the food at home. Soile and Hekke are amazing and they produce the most amazing food. They were so flexible and accommodating and only do one wedding a weekend. We knew the utmost care was going to be taken at our wedding. After meeting with a few caterers we were not happy. They would give us large flip books and we couldn't try any of their food until we were set on a menu. My husband and I only had 1 request for our wedding and it was that we wanted the food to be amazing so you can see how were were not impressed. We thought we would give it one more try and we met with Deco. We were blown away. At our first meeting we got a full tasting of the most delicious food. We got to work with the team to create and tailor our perfect menu and even family recipes were encouraged. Deco was amazing and their prices were very competitive. If you haven't checked them out you need to do so.

Our guests raved about the food at our wedding. We were really happy with the service, responsiveness, and quality of everything served. Deco was easy to work with and went out of their way to make sure everything not only tasted great, but also looked great.

AMAZING! Everyone was raving about the food all night and the next week after the wedding.

They are great to work with. What they deliver is worth far more than what I paid for. They are a great caterer.

Deco Catering catered our recent wedding. The food was absolutely fabulous! People could not stop talking about the amazing food and beautiful display. Usually, wedding food is pretty boring. This is not the case with Deco. They serve lots of really good food and set up the table in a really show stopping way- fruit, flowers, candles! Wow! Best of all, their prices are incredibly reasonable. Thank you, Deco!

Deco did a great job dealing with many special meal requests for our guests. They were willing to do whatever we wanted, but also gave suggestions. For example, our venue did not have a kitchen and they told us what wouldn't work without a kitchen. I appreciated them saying that versus giving my guests gross food. People commented on how great the food was. I'm not sure how they executed without a kitchen, but it was great. Also, we had a few extra people show up who had RSVP'd no and Deco quickly adjusted when we needed to move people. Would definitely recommend as the food actually tastes good and that never happens at a wedding.

Delicious food - loved the Scandinavian influence!

We had a great experience working with Heikki, Danielle, and Heather, and loved Deco's delicious food. They were so accommodating with providing various samples throughout our planning process, and talking through specific details. We served a family style dinner, and our guests loved the food!

Deco was so wonderful to work with! They worked with us to create a customized menu and were always so accommodating to any changes I had. When I wanted to create new items that weren't on their menu, Heikki and Peggy were super helpful, and even let us try the new items to make sure we were all on the same page. Having good food was one of the most important parts of our wedding to us, and we met with quite a few other vendors before booking with Deco. Their service is impeccable! One thing that was a little disappointing, was that we were told we could bring home left overs. I brought a lot of to-go containers on the wedding day in preparation for this, but I guess since I didn't communicate with them on the day of we missed out on this, and a lot of food went to waste. But I'll take the blame here as I should have let them know ahead of time.

I wanted to give them an 5/5 but their communication was a bit lacking. We were expecting to get some contact with them a few weeks before the wedding, but my mom had to seemingly pull teeth to get them to respond to her about a week before the wedding to finalize everything. I don’t know if that was because they had a lot of holiday events or what, but it was kind of a bummer. They did throw in a lot of freebies though, so that was nice. The food was fantastic and I was SO happy with all of it. I heard a lot of great compliments from guests too, so that was awesome. Overall I am really happy with the food we got!

First I will say that the food from The Deco is amazing, tasty and beautiful. They are an absolutely excellent value for what you get. We had their chicken marsala and beef tenderloin for our guests and heard rave reviews about dinner and appetizers.

We did have a few issues while working with them, though, that you should be aware of going into it. At our first tasting, we were not served the meals I had requested. At that tasting we were told we could come back for a second tasting to decide on appetizers (and try the meal we were supposed to have at the first). When I followed up regarding the second tasting a few months later, I was told that they don't usually do those, and was made to feel guilty about my request.

Getting closer to the event, things went smoothly. I sent a spreadsheet with the number of each meal required a few days before my numbers were due. I found out after my wedding that while they were supposed to bring 4 vegetarian plates they only brought 2. That means that two of my guests were served only potatoes and carrots. I understand mistakes happen, but there was no attempt to problem solve and offer them another option. When I addressed this with the company, I was told it was my fault, which I cleared up by resending them the spreadsheet they'd received before the event. After a back and forth, they did waive the final $100 that I owed them. Ultimately, they did the right thing.

So, to recap, the food and value is absolutely amazing. You may just need to be extra organized and follow up frequently.

My parents had Deco's cupcakes at a friend's wedding last year and loved them, so we selected them to provide cupcakes for our wedding. We went in for a tasting, chose three flavors, and I confirmed the flavors twice before the wedding. Two out of the three cupcakes that Deco delivered were the wrong flavors and were unfilled when we had ordered filled. After the wedding, when we contacted them to complain they refused to refund any money, stating that they had already spent the money on taxes, ingredients, and staff wages. Instead they offered to provide dinner, but as most of my family is from out of town this was not a realistic option, nor was it comparable in value to the cost of the incorrect order. While we don't expect a full refund, we had hoped that a partial refund would be possible considering the relatively high cost of the cupcakes.

We were so excited to use this vendor. I had done a lot of research and they seemed to really care about customer service and quality of food, presentation and service. They ended up contracting out the cooking and service staff, and a lot of the things we had planned completely feel through. Our wedding was actually a few years ago...but I am only writing the review now because over time as I have talked to friends and family that attended the wedding it has come out that more went wrong than I was even aware of. Due to all the issues and the fact that the venue owner was disappointed in what happened we did get a small credit. Sadly, it didn't really make much of a difference and as many brides can understand...that doesn't really make up for one of the biggest parts of your night not going well at all. I have gone back and forth about writing a review...but I feel like prospective brides should know, that I do think they try to do a really good job...but they overbooked and seemed to just push us to the side. I wish I would have known.
