Called to schedule and appointment and got in the following Saturday. Arrived at the appointment and Elaine was very friendly and welcoming. She asked what kind of dress I was looking for and when I told her I had no idea she put me in a variety of different ones to see what I liked. The first dress I tried on I fell in love with and that ended up being the dress I took home with me that day!

This dress shop is amazing! You can book an appointment and get a private consult with your wedding party. The lady working found me the perfect wedding dress on the first try and I ended up buying it (prices are great too!). She was very professional and it was a very special experience. I would highly recommend this place.

I went to Taffeta and Tulle to buy my wedding dress.

I got an appointment within a week of calling, and when I showed up, we were the only ones in the store.

Elaine was a delight to work with! She was very pleasant, and very efficient. I wasn't entirely sure what silhouette I was looking for, so she brought me all different kinds to try. As well, she guessed my size in dresses without even having to ask (it was quite impressive!).

All of her dresses are beautiful, and all priced fantastically. I recommend any brides go check out this shop before shopping at competitors!

The owner of the store did my fitting. She closed down the store just for us and took the time to show me dresses. I had thought I had the perfect vision for my wedding dress. She showed me a more flattering silhouettes for my body. She showed me a dress that I never imagined I would be in. The results are beautiful. The most amazing thing is her dresses are all under $900.

    FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!

Taffeta and Tulle Bridal offers a quality one-on-one appointment and the experience is wonderful! The dresses are gorgeous, the service is very personal and relaxed, and the prices are always $999 or less for gowns in-stock. If you aren't happy at this boutique you won't be happy anywhere. Don't let negative comments from Diva brides throw you off.

I had looked at numerous stores throughout Calgary with lots of disappointment in service, severe pressure and headaches to order a dress even 8 months in advance.

I booked an appointment with Elaine, I told her the types of dresses I was looking for and she said she had an assortment of dresses in mind. Yes, she charges to try dresses on for good reason, the dresses are the actual dresses to buy and the more they get tried on they more they could get damaged. It also makes you think about how serious you are about finding a dress.

On the appointment day we sat and discussed what I was looking for, I showed her pictures, she asked questions and then she picked out a number of dresses.

I tried on about 6 dresses but kept going back to the first one she had picked out for me, and so knew that was the one that I had to buy. Elaine just saved me time in helping me make a decision by getting me to look in the mirror and imagine what I would feel like on my Wedding day. I then knew it was the dress I was looking for, I loved it and took it home that day. It needed a few alterations that were done by a referral from Elaine as well.

Thank you Elaine, you know your dresses and what looks great!

    Elaine,

I wanted to say how very thankful I am for the great experienced you offered me when I found my dream dress!

I experienced some high sales pressure at other major bridal stores in Vancouver and the experience was no where near as personal and honest as with you!

I love your cash and carry policy it offers such peace of mind and no stress with worrying that your dress won't come in on time. That and every so often I get to take a quick peak at my dress here at home and admire my gorgeous gown!

Thanks again so much for putting me in my dream dress and making the experience such a great memory for me and my soon to be family too!

A very happy costumer and anxious bride.

    Taffeta and Tulle (Airdrie, AB)

Bought my wedding dress from Taffeta & Tulle (Aidrie, AB) in Sept last year (wedding is end of this August) and I have to say, I am so disappointed with the whole experience.

I found a dress I loved, that was 3 times my original budget. The only justification I could make was that it was made to order with my measurements, so the cost of alterations should be nil or at least reduced, and the dress was BEAUTIFUL.

I fit into the size 6 sample (just snug enough that the seam of the natural waist left a faint red imprint line around my waist) but Marisza (the new-ish owner) did my measurements, rounded up and ordered a size 10 with custom bust (small chested person here). I argued for a smaller size because in my opinion the sample dress fit reasonably (I wear a small or size 2 petite in regular clothing), and I was a couple pounds heavier than my normal (and truthfully, period bloated... ugh) but eventually, trusting her, I went with her recommendation (after all, she told me she was "so convinced" I wouldn't lose the weight, she would pay for the alteration herself if I did.... ouch?).

Long story short, the dress did NOT fit. The "custom" bust I paid for ended up being something like a double D and the size 10 dress was exactly that, a size 10 dress. I could grab a handful of extra material from each cup and the waist.

It was a struggle to get an appointment, though Marisza finally accommodated me. I asked Marisza to reorder the dress but Marisza took my measurements against the dress and said they "were exact" including the chest (which should have been impossible, because she had rounded UP to get to the size 10 at the time of ordered the dress, and I had lost a couple pounds since... not enough to make up for the ill-fit of the dress, just to be clear... and also, I have effectively no boobs) so she couldn't send the dress to be remade. I asked if I could trade the new dress for the sample dress, which Marisza said no to, because it had been "made to order with your measurements" (LOL) and so the hem was too short to be a sample dress. But she told me she had an "easy fix" and proceeded to put cups that had a monstrous amount of padding in the dress, and let me tell you, I looked RIDICULOUS. Even my partner (tagging along for moral support), who likes bigger chests, just laughed and said it looked ridiculous. When I said that wasn't the look I was going for, Marisza spent a few minutes trying to pressure me into accepting that solution instead of just accepting my refusal.

To cut it short, we eventually got to the point where Marisza agreed to pay for the alterations to take everything in, which was greatly appreciated but was not achieved without a lot of passive aggressive and defensive comments on her part. Finding a seamstress was a hassle, and we had a whole other set of issues there, after I declined the seamstress initally recommended by Marisza (she had 2.6 star reviews and was trying to charge a fortune), with Marisza trying to send me to someone working out of their house in Airdrie (no business, no storefront, no website or portfolio) that I couldn't even check reviews on.

I finally found a great seamstress and got those alterations. Unfortunately, the seamstress was unable to take the dress in enough to fit properly because the torso is one big piece of lace and she would have had to start cutting out and destroying the pattern and changing the look of the dress. I texted Marisza to let her know, but haven't received a reply yet. I am utterly let down. The dress I have doesn't even compare, in my opinion, to the sample I tried on and the whole experience trying to get a "made to order" dress only added more work. I don't even know what to do now, the wedding is 2 weeks away and I HATE my dress.

I went to Taffeta and Tulle and was excited to begin shopping for my dress because it was a 'discount' shop - no dress over $999. The first thing that set me on edge was that I asked if I could try my shoes on with the dress and the owner said to me "Ok but don't move, because one step and my $1000 dress is ruined" - I felt like a chastised child!

3 dresses in, I found it. It had no tags on it. The owner said to me "Now this is a $1400 dress, and I have it here for $999. This is a dress that I can order for you specially, but it usually costs a bit extra for shipping, so you might need to pay a little more than the $999." I was thrilled - the dress was gorgeous, and under my $1100 budget! My bridal party and I had been looking on the website the night before, and we had seen some beautiful dresses, so I asked the owner what number it was - maybe it was one of the dresses we had looked at. "I'm not going to tell you." She said. I mentioned that I was just wondering if it was one of the dresses we has seen the night before. "It doesn't matter." She replied. "It doesn't matter because you aren't going to find it anywhere on the internet." This really threw me off, because it's not like I told her I was going to try it on and then make it myself if I could find it online...

I tried on a few more dresses, but my heart was really set on that 3rd dress. I told the owner I had another appointment that afternoon and asked if she could record the dress for me so that I could call her back and she could order it if necessary. She said "I'm not going to write it down for you, but I can keep it in my records here." I left the appointment feeling really down about my dress shopping experience.

I bought my dress from another store where not only was it NOT $1400, but the vendor said I should pay $950 max. Taffeta and Tulle was going to charge me more than it was worth while lying to me about the true price. I would NOT recommend going to Taffeta and Tulle!

    SCAM - Beware!

This is a fraudulent business. Best friend's dress was ordered in April, where she paid $2600. She just got a message yesterday saying sorry the company was shutting down. Won't answer regarding monies paid. Went to City of Airdrie and business license has not been renewed this year, they were familiar with the name of the company and advised this is a fraud & to file a report with the police.
The cheque for the dress was deposited into a different business account, not Taffeta & Tulle, but Cottam's Fencing & Contracting (guessing this is her husband's company - same last name). Side note - can't find a registered business license for this company or the numbered company either. 2108488 Alberta Inc.
GO AND FILE A POLICE REPORT if you've paid money and have not received anything yet.

    Worst Experience Ever.

Firstly. She charges you $45. JUST TO TRY THEM ON. She says she shuts down the store just for you which is a crock. I just don't think she is even there if she doesn't have an appointment.
You aren't allowed to go and look at her racks of dresses. She picks them all out. I told her I wanted a natural waist, up higher and she said 'no you don't want that'. She got upset every time I said 'I can tell you right now I don't like that dress'. She told me I was like a hamster in a wheel because I didn't know what I wanted, she knew it was the first place I was going to try on dresses. She never gave me the choice to choose what I liked. My future mother in law was writing notes and wanted to keep track of things I did and didn't like, yet she wouldn't tell us any of the designers or dress numbers so that we could keep track. "i'm not telling you" is literally what she said. On the phone she told me we would have up to two hours... after an hour she cut me off and said that's it. I did not try on any dresses I would've chosen off the rack. Her dresses look like they are second hand and I do not believe for one second all of these dresses are the prices she claims them to be... I wouldn't pay $999 for any of those dresses let alone the $1800 price tags she claims them to have.

I felt like I was going to cry when we left, so discouraged and more confused than when I first walked in.
Then we walked right into Embrace in Airdrie and had the best experience ever!
