Seamless, one of the best things I did for wedding planning

So let me tell you planning a wedding from another state was daunting! I had an idea of what I wanted, but no idea how to make it happen or what vendors I would actually need. Insert Susan and magic! She knew the venue and she knew there were things I would need that hadn’t occurred to me. Not fancy things just bare basics I was unaware of. Then there was getting a permit...that made me a little nervous as I was planning a wedding in 4 months. No worries, Susan knows that guy too. She pretty much made things seamless. Susan is absolutely amazing!!! I thoroughly enjoyed having her as my wedding planner. She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed for my wedding. She understood that I had a budget and she did everything she could to help me stay within that budget. Everything went smoothly the day of the wedding and it is mainly thanks to her as she knew my vision and made sure to coordinate with all the vendors. If you’re looking for a wedding planner, I would highly recommend Susan! (Oh and as a former florist, she knows a lot about flowers which is a big plus!)

Susan did our floral arrangments for our wedding 8/20/16 and all the floral arrangements turned out so beautiful! I was in LOVE LOVE LOVE with my bride's bouquet and all the centerpieces. Susan was helpful at our consultation and listened to everything that I wanted and gave her recommendations on things I didn't know about. It was helpful that she put together a website with the types of flowers she was going to use at our wedding and gave a rough estimate of how much everything was going to cost. I would recommend Susan to anyone and everyone who is looking for a florist for their wedding and/or any event!

Susan provided beautiful arrangements for our wedding! As soon as I met her I felt confident in her experience and knowledge. I was a very casual/hands off bride. I provided Susan my color scheme and some direction and let her run with it. On the day of my wedding I was pleasantly surprised with all of the arrangements. Susan also provided day of coordination services for an additional fee. I can't tell you how nice it was to feel relaxed knowing that Susan had everything covered on my big day. I should also mention that her prices are some of the best in town. We wanted to keep our budget around $2800 and she was able to do it!

Susan was so easy to work with and so flexible with her schedule. She actually kept her shop open a little later for me on a SATURDAY to work with my schedule. My flowers were EXACTLY what I asked for (actually a little more beautiful than I imagined). I wouldn't change a thing. I can't thank Susan/ Accolades enough. They are very affordable. Susan of Accolades florist did a FABULOUS job with my wedding arrangements. I researched several other florists in the area and I selected her services because she provided a great product for a reasonable cost. She was also the only florist I spoke with who was able to give me a photo gallery of each type of flower she would be using in each of my different arrangements. So I was able to better visualize what each arrangements would look like and give her feedback on any changes I wanted. I also provided my own vases for my centerpieces and she was very flexible and accommodating about using what I provided and made it work really well. She was also very flexible about delivery and setup and connected with the reception venue directly to make sure she had all the info she needed about timing, location, etc. And, most importantly, the flowers were absolutely stunning. She "got" the look I was going for right away and took a lot of inspiration from my Pinterest pages, as I wanted, and I was extremely pleased with the final results. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a florist in this area. You will definitely be happy with the decision.

Susan had never made a bouquet like I requested. My mom and grandmother both walked down the aisle with my grandmother's bible with an orchid on top. I wanted something along the lines of that and she did a great job with what I wanted! It was perfect. Thank you, Susan for your hard work!

I didn't start looking for a florist until 3 weeks before my wedding. Susan was great! She understood my need to work fast and helped schedule a meeting with a time that worked for me. She also prepped for the meeting with the color scheme that i had sent in advance so I didn't feel like I was wasting time during our meeting.

Having worked in the space before she understood my needs and helped me pick out the appropriate, in-season flowers for the event. On the day of, all the bouquets and flower arrangements were beautiful and in place when I arrived. If you have an event that needs flower arrangements I would highly recommend Accolades Florist as you couldn't ask for better service and product.

Susan is the ultimate florist! For our wedding ceremony and reception we requested extensive floral arrangements. She ensured that everything was on time and placed exactly as requested. What a wonderful experience! Coming from a bride who was very confused and budget-concerned about flowers, Susan really provided an amazing experience. Susan was so knowledgeable about exactly what I wanted for my centerpieces, and provided EVERYTHING to make my vision a reality. The delivery was timely, and Susan was immensely responsive. The flowers were of beautiful quality and Susan provided so much insight about how to ensure the best bang for my buck (such us, placing bouquets in the bridal parties centerpieces to cut down on costs). The only artificial flowers used were my flower girls, and those looked amazing! Susan really helped make my wedding's flower arrangements a breeze and a great experience.

Our flowers took my breath away. They were everything and more than I could imagine. When I met with Susan I didn't know anything other than I wanted pink roses. She quickly came up with a great combination of flowers. She provided an isle runner and had rose petals laid down. When I say the ceremony site on the way to take pictures I was truly in awe. I literally had to take a second to stop from crying not to mess up my makeup. Thank you Susan for working with me every step of the way!

Susan's work was absolutely beautiful. The bouquets and centerpieces were exactly what I wanted and what we discussed. I received several comments about the arrangements during and after the wedding. Where do I begin? Susan was a pleasure to work with. From our first meeting to the day of my wedding she was a pleasure to work with. I must have changed my mind at least a handful of times and she never seemed bothered by my indecisiveness. Susan understands that this is one of the most important days of your life.

I had a photo charm made for a picture of my father which Susan was sweet enough to attach to my bridal bouquet. Needless to say I tiered up when I saw my bouquet. All of the floral arrangements were beautiful.

Susan exceeded my expectations and hopes. I definitely recommend Susan without hesitation.

When it came to selecting vendors, the flowers for my wedding were one of the scariest choices for me because I didn't really know how they would turn out until the day of the event. However from the beginning Susan seemed to understand the vision I had for my day and truly delivered on my wedding day. I wanted everything a little imperfect and rustic and Susan captured this perfectly in my bouquets, the reception decorations and the flowers she added to my cake (which I gave her very little direction on and it was beautiful!)

Two things definitely stood out about her from other vendors. The first was how she provided me with an online database to view flowers that she thought would be great for my wedding. This database was also searchable so if I found anything I loved as well I could just let her know to add them to the arrangement! As someone who doesn't have an extensive knowledge on flowers this really allowed me to know the options I had. Another thing I especially loved was how she included a free extra bouquet to be used in the bridal toss giving me the opportunity to keep and preserve the bouquet I walked down the aisle with. I would definitely recommend Susan to any other brides in the area!

Susan was wonderful and did a fabulous job for my wedding at Westfields Marriott. She was extremely knowledgeable and made the whole process very easy on me. She is very responsive and remembers the "little details" throughout the whole 6 months I worked with her. I got so many compliments on my flowers. My altar piece was just the right size and I loved how she mixed my pastel palette together. My primary colors were pink and blue and that is hard to put together because it can clash or look juvenile. She made all of my arrangements look very elegant and reserved where the needed to be, such as the altar piece, and more springtime playful such as my bridesmaid bouquets. It was all very big arrangements and she had everything that I had asked for! Things I wasn't even sure of, she made it all work and it all looked beautiful. I was happy that the Hydrangea pomanders turned out they way you had them because, my little flower girl was twirling it all around and it might have otherwise fell apart. My MIL wanted a pinned corsage but even she was happy with the pearl wrist bracelet you added that she didn't say anything but how beautiful everything was. Plus I was glad the mothers matched. My tall gold candelabras were unforgettable and everyone remarked on the how opulent and gorgeous they were. My only regret, was not having more of those, but then again, we dont want to be ostentatious. Everything was perfect Susan, thank you so much!!!

Susan at SW and Accolades Florist is in a word, fantastic. From our very first meeting, I was really impressed by her professionalism and by the thought she had put into my flowers. I had sent her a few inspirational photos, and she had them printed for our meeting and some recommedations laid out in draft form. It made me feel so comfortable to know that she was so organized and put such careful thought into my flowers before we had even met.

Throughout the year up to planning, I changed my mind a few times (it's a bride's right!) and Susan was always available to answer my questions and very flexible with changes (for example, silver vases to gold, ivory roses instead of pink). Even though I was getting married in the winter (November, when flowers aren't quite as plentiful as spring or summer), Susan assured me she would do her very best to get the blooms I wanted - within my budget - and she exceeded my expectations (for example, I wanted peonies, and she found garden roses in the perfect color that more appropriately matched my budget). She listed to me and knew what "look" I was going for for my wedding, and recommended some beautiful looks for the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and table arrangements. She has a wonderful eye for design.

On the day of the wedding, I was so thrilled to see the bouquets. They were perfect! And when I walked into the reception and saw the flowers for the first time, they took my breath away. They were beautiful and polished.

Not only was Susan wonderful to work with and did beautiful work, but her prices were so reasonable and the best value I found by far. She was a pleasure to work with, and I recommend her without reservation to any bride!

Susan was very responsive to all our requests. We had a rustic theme and she offered to wrap the bouquets in twine, as well as put lace on our vases and mason jars for decoration. She was very helpful with everything we asked. The centerpieces she gave us were gorgeous, and the bouquets were perfect. We wanted wildflowers, grasses and similarly themed flowers and while some of the things we wanted were out of season, she found us similar looking replacements.

Overall we had a wonderful experience with Susan and we would highly recommend her in the future.

The outdoor wedding was overtaken by a terrible storm. Flowers were tossed about and the outdoor arbor with flowers was getting destroyed, Sue and her husband took a lot of effort to try and put things back together so we could carry on with the wedding.

SW Floral design did a wonderful job! The owner, Susan is very responsive during our planning process. She is very patient too since I have changed my contract like three times! The flowers turned out really beautiful! You will save more money than those popular florists in the area. I am a very picky bride because I am actually a meeting/event planner and I used to do weddings before so believe me, you're in GREAT hands!
My advice to all brides out there: Just be VERY specific with what you like when it comes to your floral arrangements. Make sure you say you want less greens/leaves or you want the flowers to look fluffy! just be VERY detailed.

Susan did an absolutely amazing job from beginning to end! She was much more affordable than other florists since she works from her home so that was a major plus. The quality of her work was perfect and everything was delivered on time and as promised. She followed up with me almost immediately on any questions or changes that I had. I would definately recommend her to any local bride looking for beautiful flowers on a limited budget. She was WONDERFUL!

Susan was fantastic!!! She was flexible with scheduling our first meeting around a busy schedule and when we met with her, I had ideas, and with her knowledge and experience I was able explain what I had envisioned for my wedding day. She sent me pictures of the flowers she had explained to me in our meeting along with confirmation of what I expected and wanted for my wedding. On the day of, she drove to Maryland to the hotel before the wedding, and arrived at my room on time. The flowers were gorgeous!! She changed little things around at the reception, to ensure freshness, which turned out great. The bouquets were gorgeous as well! I really felt like a bride once I held my flowers. The way the colors and flowers choices went with the dresses was even better than I pictured. Her rates were extremely reasonable as well, and we were able to work together to my budget. We were so lucky to find Susan with SW Floral Design! After meeting with a florist in the Fairfax area and getting a fairly expensive quote, we did some more research and found Susan right here on WeddingWire. Susan from SW Floral Design was so wonderful to work with!!! We planned our wedding around a military deployment and were not sure if we were going to be able to have the ceremony. I loved working with Susan from SW Floral Design! She has a ton of photos from previous weddings she did that helped me get a sense of what I wanted to do for my wedding. I don't know much about flowers, so looking at other arrangements was so helpful. She also helped me stay within my limited budget by recommending flowers that were less expensive but still absolutely beautiful. The day of the wedding when I saw my bouquet and my bridesmaids' bouquets I almost cried because they were so perfect and gorgeous! I really enjoyed working with the vendor for my wedding flowers! We booked her closer to the wedding than I would have liked and she was so flexible with us, gladly taking our order and being so willing to work with us on a shorter time frame. I brought her some inspiration pictures and she pretty much replicated the look I was going for exactly. The price was phenominal- over 50% less (for the same flowers) than some bigger, more mainstream florists I got quotes from, and with the hugely personalized service, the bubbly personality, the enthusiasm, and all the help and attention we received, the value was unbelievable. She was also willing to work with me on price and suggested options that would work within my budget. I just have good things to say and loved the vendor and the end product very much!!

Susan was great to work with - she had unique, fun ideas and she was super-friendly. At my initial consultation, I had printed out some pictures of bouquets I liked, but really didn't have a strong idea of what I wanted the flowers for our wedding to be. She spent over an hour with me and helped me come up with ideas for flowers that I was really excited about. I had a few smaller last-minute changes which she easily and happily accomodated. Of course, I didn't really know what the flowers would look like on the wedding day, but they were absolutely spectacular! My wedding party was so excited to see them because they were so beautiful! I got many compliments on them throughout the night.

If I could put a 6th star for communication, I would! She usually responded to my emails within hours. I never waited more than a day for a response.

There is no way I could have had such beautiful flowers within my budget anywhere besides SW Floral Design. Run, don't walk, to get your flowers done by Susan!

Susan was fabulous. She was incredibly nice, and I felt very comfortable working with her. She was incredibly friendly and super flexible - I had a small budget and a bit of a non-traditional theme - and she made it happen. She was also great about any small changes that had to happen along the way and was very responsive and on top of things. I'm definitely recommending her to my friends who are getting married soon :)

She also did the flowers for my sister's wedding and did a fabulous job with them - they captured the modern elegant vibe that my sister was going for :)

When I met with Susan, I had a specific idea of what I wanted for my bouquet (red roses, white tulips, and yellow cala lillies) and an overall idea of what i wanted for the ceremony and reception. Susan guided me in defining and finalizing the rest of the flowers. Although I couldn't picture it, I trusted her to bring it to life.

She accommodated change requests (nix the aisle petals, extra corsages, add flowers to the cake, etc.) so easily that it was absolutely painless. All I had to do was send an email when I wanted a change, and she would respond. This is the way things are supposed to work. Lovely.

I hadn't given much direction on the ceremony flowers - just said "red, yellow, white with green filler." Her vision was dead-on perfect. The flowers were stunning! Absolutely stunning. I'll be sending Susan pictures when I get them so that she can add them to her portfolio. My bouquet and the bridesmaids' bouquets were beautiful, too. Of course, I'm biased because I picked them. ;o)

Oh, and the price was unbeatable. The best bargain of my whole pre-wedding experience!!!! I'd use Susan again for other events and would highly recommend her. Easy to work with, excellent prices, and great creativity and vision - she's everything you could possibly want in a florist! Just trust in her as the expert.

We just got married on 5/22/10 and Susan was our florist. She was so great and easy to work with, and she was very responsive. She always responded to any questions I had immediately, which is so helpful when trying to keep everything organized. On the day of our wedding, she was setting up and our cake was there. I had forgotten to talk with her about bringing flowers to decorate our cake, so the cake was completely bare. She ended up making it work after moving a few things around, and it looked amazing! The centerpieces, bouquets and all decorations were just beautiful and I had numerous people comment on how great everything looked. I highly recommend working with Susan. She is wonderful!

I found Susan of SW Floral Design via Wedding Wire and I was excited to work with her! She responds in a quick manner and can give you an estimate on the spot and give you suggestions, etc. You can also look through her portfolio for ideas and things that she has done. I will have to say that I was pleasantly surprised the way all of my floral arrangements turned out. I knew some of the flowers I wanted and she was able to incorporate those into a more beautiful arrangement than I had imagined. Having worked with a floral shop, I will say that I will never do that again! When I did the justice of the peace wedding (a quickie since my husband was deploying overseas), I wanted a mini calla lily bouquet. The floral shop wanted $500! Needless to say, I didn't get it. But when we had the actual ceremony a year later, I got it and Susan only charged $100! SW Floral Design arrangements are absolutely beautiful and more cost effective. The arrangements are definitely top quality and do not look "homemade" or like a do-it yourself type kit. I highly suggest SW Floral Design and Susan is absolutely wonderful to work with. She even sends reminders when deposits are due (for all you busy brides!). At the end of our reception, we told guests they could take the flower arrangements home - and they went quick! We had guests asking for the bouquets too! Flowers used for my wedding include mini calla lilies, peonies, hydrangeas, tulips, roses, gerbera daisies, stargazer lillies and much more. If I ever need floral arrangements for an event, SW Floral Design is my go-to!

Susan was a pleasure to work with! She was very patient and worked with our schedule. We don't know a lot about flowers so Susan sat with us and reviewed many different types of flowers to create the picture we were looking for. She was also flexible and allowed us to set a payment schedule and change our order if we thought of something we liked better.

SW Floral Design provided beautiful flowers for our wedding. The centerpieces were creative and well put together. My bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were perfect. Susan did a great job using our colors (red and brown) and gave the arrangements a fall tone. Wow!! Wow!! Susan is amazing. When I first looked at vendors I initially went another route. What a mistake. When I decided to go another way I found Susan. My flowers were beautiful!! I had a difficult color of green but Susan made it work. The flowers were so fresh and beautiful. They stayed in tact all the way to the end of the reception. Susan was always there with great ideas and really helped me in every way. Even the little accents like the acorns on the mirror really pulled my wedding theme together. Susan was one of three florist that I originally met with. Right away she made me feel comfortable and understood exactly what I was describing. She really makes you feel special, as she does not overbook her weekends with numerous brides. She was also a great value since she works out of her home and not a florist shop.

On the day of my wedding, I was ecstatic with how my bouquet, as well as the bridesmaids bouquets turned out. After the ceremony was over, I realized that the flower girl didn't carry the basket that Susan and I discussed. I found out later, that this was because the little flower girl was too small for the basket and was dragging it instead of carrying it. Luckily, there was a small bouquet of flowers that Susan also dropped off with the flower girl supplies. This was great thinking because she wasn't distracted by the heavy basket and ran down the aisle with a smile! Everyone agreed that the simple centerpieces at the reception really made the venue pop. I was a little thrown off by the color of the flowers as I thought they would be a little more on the pink side, but the pictures look beautiful. I heard guests were scrambling to be the ones to take those home with them at the end of the night!

I would recommend Susan. She was one vendor I could trust during the planning process to make everything go smoothly.

Susan was amazing to work with. In planning our wedding, my hubby and I didn't want to go too heavy on the flowers as we had a sort of industrial vibe going on. No order was too small for Susan, which was a problem we had run into with other florists. The cost was VERY reasonable and the flowers were breathtaking. The only thing that was a bit of a bummer is that my daughter's pomander ball started to fall apart from the strings that held it. It was okay though, as she just carried it in her arm...and it actually looked really sweet that way. I would highly suggest Susan as she was very flexible and patient with us. This was - by far - my favorite vendor. You will not find another florist in the area that is this affordable and accomodating. My flowers were absolutely gorgeous. Susan Wegner, owner of the company, was incredibly accomodating, changing and adding on to my order up to the final weeks before the wedding. And all of the changes and additions were at a very low cost compared to what other florists would charge. In the consultation she listened to my idea and my cost restraints and was able to work both into a product that was perfect. Flowers can get very expensive but if you choose this company you will surely be happy with the product on any budget.

Working with Susan was great! The bouquets came out just as I had imagined them, even without giving Susan much more than my own description. They were the prettiest bouquets I'd ever seen, and the centerpieces looked very garden-fresh, as I had hoped. She was incredibly responsive, easy to work with, and a great value for the cost. If I were to do it again, I would pick SW Floral Designs again, without question!

Susan was the florist for our wedding on 5/27/17. The bouquets and floral arrangements she made were beautiful! I was highly pleased! She was very accommodating and helpful throughout the few months leading up to our wedding. The only thing I noticed that was missing on the day of our wedding was rose petals and an empty vase on our sweetheart table to place my bouquet. This was upsetting for me because I felt our table looked bland. However, it was indeed a very small detail that my day of coordinator definitely could have fixed. Overall, Susan was great and I would use her again in the future.

We had beautiful flowers for our wedding. Susan was very helpful and knowledgeable and was able to work within our budget. I would highly recommend her due to professionalism as well. Out of all the vendors, she was the easiest one to work with.

Susan was so easy to work with and made some great suggestions when we told her the colors for the wedding. She can usually get just about any type flower you are looking for. She makes the time to meet with you to be sure she has a complete understanding of what you are looking for on your wedding day. She is flexible to changes and arrived when she said she would on the day of the wedding. We needed extra time after the wedding to return the items that belonged to Susan and she was kind enough to give us two weeks to get everything back to her. That was so helpful since we were traveling and not in the area.

I absolutely loved working with Susan and highly recommend her. She is the 5th florist my husband and I met with and we were very discouraged at the time of our initial meeting. Susan was willing to work with our budget, upfront with her prices, willing to work with the style we selected for our wedding and had suggestions for other floral decorations.

My husband and I wanted to be all in black and white - he did not wear any color in his tux and we did not want any color in our flowers. I am petite and had a very slim fitting dress that needed a smaller brides bouquet to not overwhelm me or take away from the dress. I love calla lillies and Susan made a beautiful bouquet for me that complemented my dress perfectly. She kept the elegant, understated we look we wanted by using white calla lillies for the bridesmaids, boutonnieres, and centerpieces. We were thrilled with the quality of the flowers and how the design fit with our vision for the day. (Other florists had pressured us to use a variety of flowers and lots of colors).

Susan accomodated changes in locations and our order without any trouble. She informed us that the Walk for the Cure would interefere with our plans for the morning of the wedding and, despite road closures all over DC, was still able to deliver the flowers early on the day of the wedding. The church had another event scheduled prior to our wedding which they did not inform us of ahead of time. Susan was able to handle it and still set-up the church beautifully for our wedding. Susan was wonderful to work with before the wedding and on the big day.

I ended up having a different color dress on the day, so the bouquet was not matching, and the artificial leaves used for the cake weren't quite enough, or matching very well the picture I showed, yet the Lantern/Fall Leaf Center-pieces were GREAT, and Susan was very receptive to ideas and professionally handled all requests in a positive and timely manor! : )

We worked with Susan for our wedding. Susan was great to work with; we told her about our theme (tropical paradise) and she helped pick out some beautiful flowers that matched the theme. She helped us get familiar with the flowers by providing us access to an online flower portal. A picture means a thousand words so it was great to have access to this initially as well as throughout the planning process.

We also very much loved the composition of the bouquets she put together for us. She put together a gorgeous cascading bouquet as requested and even provided an extra bouquet for the bouquet toss. The cascading bouquet really helped reinforced our tropical paradise theme in that it was lush and wrapped with something similar to a banana leaf. We also requested Pomander bouquets for the bridesmaids and those were just as beautiful. The only regret that I have is regarding the color matching. Most of the flowers worked out great but one of the flowers used throughout did not quite match the color we were looking for which was very important to us. Otherwise, Susan was great to work with and I would welcome the opportunity to work with her once again.

I enjoyed working with Susan and very much appreciated how flexible and responsive she was, in addition to how reasonable her prices were. Susan helped me to find and purchase some unique touches and she was always quick to respond to my e-mails. Such responsiveness was much appreciated as we were planning the wedding from a few states away!

However, I was disappointed in the minimal amount of advice I received, especially when I had specifically requested her professional opinion on a few occasions and rather than discussing the options, changes were simply made to the contract. This turned out to greatly affect the overall execution because the main flowers used in the bridesmaids bouquets turned out to be pale yellow instead of bright yellow and I had no idea that tulips used in bouquets are still budding. These budding tulips stood out significantly in height from the rest of the flowers in several of the bridesmaids bouquets. The bridesmaids bouquets did not look at all as I was anticipating, due in large part to what I see as a lack in providing a professional opinion when requested and/or needed, though I know that I, too, should have followed up more upon not receiving the guidance requested.

Additionally, my bouquet was not nearly as full as I thought that it would be and the edges of some of the flowers were already brown when I first received it.

Lastly, I had been very excited about the centerpiece design that we wrote into the contract, which included lemon slices put on each side of a square vase set in marbles. I was disappointed to see at the reception that this part of the design was not incorporated. The centerpieces still looked beautiful, but it was frustrating to have had a vision in mind that had been agreed upon not come to fruition.

I did not give a whole lot of structure regarding the flower arrangement and bouquets, but what was delivered was gorgeous! I picked the main type of flowers and the colors and I let Susan do the rest. The bouquets looked amazing and the centerpieces were more than I imagined! SW Floral Designs did a wonderful job of making my ideas a reality!

Our flowers turned out beautiful as did our centerpieces. I feel for the price you pay for flowers, tearing down the reception should be included in that. I didn't like having my family being responsible for her centerpieces being used and bringing them back with me. This was stressful the day after the wedding when all worries should be gone.

The centerpieces were incredible! The boutonnieres and corsages were a bit more simple than I was expecting but they still looked nice. The bridesmaids bouquets were beautiful as was my toss bouquet. The bride's bouquet was not what was expected - asked for a waterfall bouquet but instead got more of a clutch bouquet with a few strands of greenery coming down from it with 3-4 flowers in it. I was expecting (as was the groom) more white flowers creating the waterfall instead. It was still beautiful though. The vendor is not quite able to separate stress from one event and another - if she's stressed about one event she has, it may come out on you inadvertently. Besides that, she is wonderful to work with and very adaptable the day of your event and quick to communicate with you.

Great leading up to Event but fell short day of

Susan was very helpful leading up to my wedding, she helped a TON with beautiful flowers and getting me ideas on pricing for my stage backdrop. Its clear that the calm discussion stages is where Susan shines. But the day of and for set up I found her less than satisfactory. There just wasn't that go-getter, organized spirit you would expect from someone calling themselves a "Day of Coordinator". She sat in a corner table away from the entrance and was so immobile that every single guest told me they thought SHE was a guest of my husbands or a family member! None of my family knew who she was because she didn't introduce herself as the coordinator. She couldn't help set up the day before when we discussed it on the phone in our first convo, she said she's "there when I'm there", but then the week before decided she had another obligation that couldn't be missed (which was OK). But then she only came 2 hrs before event start so my husband and father had to do a bunch of stuff the day of. There wasn't a lot left for her to do, but the photo booth and few odds and ends. Photo booth wasn't set up properly (too short and the backdrop was folded sideways instead of in the pattern it was intended to be) props were left to the side so most guests didn't know to use them. Table should have been moved closer. I hoped she would direct our friends to sit together, but she said they were doing that on their own. No guests were directed to the "welcome table" where they should sign our guestbook tree so most of it was blank at the end of the night. And I took a lot of trouble to make it myself so you can imagine the disappointment I felt.
She didn't monitor where the cards went either, when my mom expressed concern about leaving it open hear the entrance Susan said she was watching it, but how could she from the corner?! I would've been happy w the suggestion to move it to another location to make it better for everyone. Then came the cake debacle where the staff cut the sheet cake before the tier cake and we were left with 3 layers and no box for transport. She actually asked me if I could believe that they cut the wrong cake at the end of the night whereby I proceeded to ask her if that "wasn't her job to make sure something like that didn't happen" and she had no response. Nobody was directed to take succulent favors as they exited so there were extras left. If it weren't for my sisters and cousins taking full charge of clean up, that would've taken ages, thank goodness for them, even thought that was something Susan was supposed to do so that nobody was overly stressed or tired. I was told not to stress and just enjoy my day bc this service is supposed to cover it, but that was not the case, I was stressed and if I hadn't made sure all the details were attended to the day before then I would've been a complete disaster. The night turned out beautiful and all guests reported having a great time, but that was not to Susan's credit unfortunately. I think this can be a very exhausting type of job and if you're not prepared for that then it will show. My advice would be to call yourself an organizer or planner leading up, but not to advertise as a day of person. I didn't really need someone to just share a schedule with the vendors and then sit down in a corner all night. If I knew that's what I was getting, I would've skipped the service altogether. I really wanted to like it, and I was happy with all the contact leading up to the event, but sorry to say I was definitely not happy with the day of efforts put forth.

I am hesitant to write this review, but I think that future couples should be aware, as I had seen such good reviews of Susan on WeddingWire. We hired Susan as a "day-of" planner. We coordinated with Susan to meet in person 2 weeks before the wedding at the venue to go over things. Per her request, we had paid in full for her services a month out. However, we got to the in-person meeting 2 weeks before the wedding and she had just had major knee surgery. She could not walk or carry things, and was dependent on a cane. The problem was not that she'd had the surgery, it was that she had known about the surgery and had us pay in full without saying anything about her mobility. She could not do any of the things that we had hired her for, basically. We felt strongly that she should have let us know about the surgery and offered to allow us to hire someone else or to get a substitute to assist with our wedding. We felt stuck, as we had already paid.

We emailed her our concerns and asked that she get someone to help, and she said she would bring her husband, which she did. At the wedding, she and her husband lit the candles on the table but did not take charge of anything else. People at the wedding kept coming up to me asking who the planner was and were incredulous when I pointed her out, as she was always just sitting. I feel badly writing this, but I felt deceived by Susan's decision not to tell us about her surgery and hiring her ended up being a waste of money.

We were partially satisfied with Susan's floral services. She had the best prices of the florists we consulted, and a 3 positive reviews on Wedding Wire. She was friendly and great to work with during the process.

Our main disappointment on our wedding day was with the centerpieces at the reception. The centerpieces ended up having a large, green plastic (cheap-looking) planter that held the flowers in the tall skinny vases (almost 24 inches high). When I asked her about this after the wedding, Susan said that she realized just a day or two before the wedding, that the vases would need more support and so made an "executive decision" to use these big green plastic planters to keep the flowers balanced in the vases. I was surprised and not pleased with this, because she knew my wedding planner and could have easily contacted her (or me) to explore other options.

As a result, the centerpieces were not very attractive, and were cheapened by the large green piece of plastic sticking out of all of them. Months before, I had even paid for a trial-run centerpiece, so there should not have been any surprises or last-minute changes. She had months to get it right, and if there did need to be a last-minute change, she should have consulted with me or my wedding planner.

Susan did a nice job with the ceremony decorations; the bouquets on the chuppah were very pretty. The bridesmaids bouquets were very nice; the mother-of-the-bride and mother-of the groom corsages were very nice; the boutineers were okay. My bouquet was pretty.

I know Susan worked hard on this project and was in communication with me frequently throughout the year in order to try to do what we wanted within our budget. It's too bad that the reception centerpieces turned out the way they did.

5 months prior to our wedding, I emailed Susan photos of what I wanted our reception flowers to look like. We met twice in person. The photos I gave her were of pale pink and pale peach flowers with a touch of greenery accent. I was disappointed to find white centerpieces with hot pink roses sticking out on either side. The bridesmaid's bouquets were oddly shaped as floppy hydrangeas were used and roses which were poking out of the top instead of being shaped into a more rounded bouquet. The contract did state hydrangeas would be used, but I assumed the mini version as accents amongst roses, not the other way around. The contract also stated "pink" flowers, but I assumed in the pale pink/peach color family as this is what I had provided photos of. Susan had agreed to bring three tall, cylinder vases for the bridesmaids to place their bouquets at the bar at the reception. She did not follow through. There were no vases. The bouquets quickly wilted into limp heaps on the bar. The boutineers and corsages for our groomsmen, fathers, readers, etc. were nowhere to be found before the ceremony. Susan and I had agreed upon a specific location for them to be delivered and even after a thorough search after the ceremony, the flowers were never found. An outstanding invoice of $38 was cancelled after my father called to discuss the $75 worth of missing flowers. The mother's corsages were fine and my bouqet was ok although some of the edges of the roses were browning. I had every confidence in Susan after my meetings with her and to say I was disappointed in the result is an understatement. To get a birthday bouquet wrong is one thing, but to get wedding day flowers wrong is a big deal. She would do herself and her business a favor to heed the feedback of other customers who have noted that the flowers provided were not what was asked for.

Where do I even start! I would just say stay away from this place if you want a reliable and professional vendor. From the very beginning Susan was not pleasant to work with. Apparently we should have had our entire flower design planned out when we first signed the contract. She gets very annoyed when you make changes to the design/contract, and wanted to charge us for a second meeting even after she had told me via email that additional meetings were not a problem. But all that wouldn't have mattered if she had provided what was in the contract on the day of the wedding. The centerpieces were horrendous, absolutely nothing like the sample she made us. The few flowers they had were not the ones we had ordered and they were missing flowers we had specifically asked for in the contract. To make matters worse, when my mom asked her about the missing flowers just before the reception, her response was (in a very rude and annoyed tone) "well they are just not there." And half of my bouquet flowers were already wilted. And the bridesmaids bouquets were tiny. Seems like such a waste of time spent planning the flowers. Yes her prices are really low. They say you get what you pay for, but in this case we didn't even get that! Truly the worst wedding vendor experience for us.
