Great Food, Great People!
Kim and Chef are awesome! We had BBQ at our pi day wedding, and the food was a hit! More than that, they were super supportive when our guests started cancelling because of COVID. While they couldn't change the count (since they'd already bought the food), they did add a coffee bar and just offered general encouragement and support. We really appreciate that.
Their food is fantastic! I didn't hear any complaints, and we've been eating the leftovers for over a week now and we're still not sick of it! They also took various pictures and sent them to us, which was really nice. We won't get our professional photos for at least another month. It's nice to have something to look at!
Another nice touch, they made to-go plates for us. Their sesame bbq meatballs are our absolute favorite, and were one of the items that went super quickly at the wedding. We only got a few. Turns out they set aside a small pile just for us!! That was such a happy surprise!
They are the nicest people who make fantastic food. Great caterers! Definitely check them out! Also, put our menu below. They offer great desserts, too. But since it was Pi Day, we went with a different vendor for dessert. After all, what's Pi Day without PIE? :)

Stone Soup was, no question, one of our best wedding vendors. We both love food and love feeding people, so we wanted our wedding meal to be delicious. Also, we eat mostly vegetarian at home and have eaten many a sad, half-roasted vegetable mixture at other weddings, so we were determined that nobody was going to be stuck doing that at ours. We knew we had several guests with dietary restrictions, and on top of it all, we were trying to to stick to a budget.
Well--as they say, Stone Soup loves a challenge! Kim and Chef were amazingly helpful through the whole process. They worked with us to help us stay in budget, Kim sent us fabulous guidance, answered all of our questions promptly, and best of all--the food was amazing! Everyone told us how good it was. Chef and Kim also took good care of us the whole night. Have you heard horror stories about not getting to try any of your own appetizers? That won't happen here--Kim kept checking on us to make sure we ate and stayed hydrated, plus they packed us some leftovers at the end of the night.
Bottom line: You can't go wrong with Stone Soup, period, but especially if you are vegetarian/vegan or have dietary restrictions, and want interesting, delicious food, hire Stone Soup. They will go above and beyond for you. -

Hiring Stone Soup for my wedding was the best decision I made in the entire wedding planning. They took on so much more than the food/drink to make sure things went smoothly leading up to and on the night of the wedding. Kim offered suggestions on all things that I needed help with such as table arrangements, day of coordination, etc and even sent me a reminder a week before my wedding about things like practicing the bustle on my dress and bringing a change of shoes. The menu/services are fully customizable to fit any budget. Kim offered advice when needed but never pressured me to do anything a certain way or upsell me. I received so many compliments from my guests about the food and level of service provided. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because Stone Cold Catering is so much more. I highly recommend them!!! -

If you even have Stone Soup on your list - don't even look at anyone else. They are hands down the BEST caterers, people, and wedding guru's. To start - I had originally booked a different venue, with a preferred caterers list (oops) and Stone Soup was not on it. They went the extra mile to GET approved. When I switched venues, they still came through for me. Kim answered any and all questions, no matter how silly, or what time of night I reached out. She gave me options to fit my budget, advice on table settings, alcohol count, and even timing of the ceremony. She even went as far as to draft up 4 different food plans, all the way down to linen & dishes cost. When I met Kim & Chef - they immediately made me feel like family, like we were long-time friends and I knew that I could trust them. In addition to being literally the most amazing people - lets talk food. Their FOOD. I heard from multiple guests that it was the best wedding food they have ever tasted, and I have to agree. We did a buffet, with jerk chicken, tequila beef sliders, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, ginger slaw, and a cranberry/blue cheese salad. I recommend ANY of those dishes to anyone planning their menu - how does a buffet keep sliced chicken breast so moist? I dont know - but they did it. I would go to bat for Stone Soup any day, they were a wonderful addition to my wedding in both personality and deliciousness. If you do book them, please invite me, so I can have their food again. -

My fiance and I choose Stone Soup Catering for our wedding and it was one of the best choices we made! Chef and Kim are awesome to work with. I really cannot say anything but positive things about the both of them. Both are very personable, detail oriented, understanding, flexible and professional. Chef makes seriously fantastic food. We were thrilled with how everything turned out and multiple guests commented on how unique and great tasting their food was! Moreover, their staff were professional and helpful. Several of them went out of their way to assist more with cleanup when a few people ducked out last minute. -

Ingrid Sent on 10/14/2018Kim and Chef were incredible - I could not have had a better experience at my wedding from start to finish with their invaluable help. We first met Kim and Chef at the Brookside Gardens catering vendor showcase - many caterers there told us that we were booking too late (even though our wedding was over six months away) and made us feel like our wedding of 75 guests wasn't worth their time. Kim and Chef immediately struck us as in a different league entirely. They were happy to chat with us and assured us that we weren't booking too late at all! Kim made the planning process simple and easy after we finalized our booking. She thought of everything! On the day of, everything seemed to come together magically. The staff were true professionals - our bartender was INCREDIBLE. We bought the ingredients for a signature cocktail - a blue curacao maragarita - and she mixed it better than we EVER did at home. The food was simply delicious. Kim and Chef kept things on schedule and brought us our own plates so we didn't have to wait in the buffet line. At the end of the night they sent us home with prepackaged leftovers that we've been eating for the last week with great gusto - colby dijon mac n' cheese, cole slaw, pulled chicken sliders, and their amazing cake! We ordered a huge selection of their desserts in addition to our wedding cake, and boy were we happy to take home the leftovers. I've been eating Kona Rum Crunch cake for breakfast for days, and I'm not tired of it yet. I would HIGHLY recommend Stone Soup Catering. I couldn't have asked for a better experience working with such lovely talented people.
P.S. I forgot to mention that Kim and Chef were lifesavers when one of our guests emailed the week before the wedding to inform us of a very long list of allergies...! Kim and Chef communicated directly with the guest to make sure she had something safe to eat. They were so helpful!

Heather Sent on 08/13/2017Where do I even begin - Kim and Chef are simply amazing! From the moment we contracted with them Kim took care of me every step of the way and Chef made sure the food was absolutely perfect. During the year and a half between the time we hired Stone Soup and the wedding Kim would call and check in to make sure everything was going ok, she was quick to respond to every crazy/weird/random email question I sent, and a few days before the wedding I picked up the phone and called her because I just needed to hear her calming voice and reassurance that everything was going to be ok and go great. Kim and Chef took care of every detail I would have completely overlooked. They honored every weird "bridezilla" request I had from the length of tablecloths to the shape the zucchini was cut in - they go completely above and beyond to make sure their couples are happy.
The night of the wedding everything looked, and tasted, incredible! The cocktail and buffet tables were styled perfectly and the food was amazing. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Chef will not have your guests eating dry wedding chicken! I can't tell you how many times I heard from my guests "that was the best food I've had!" Not just at a wedding - but ever! The 14 member "dream team staff" they brought with them made sure my guests had full drinks, full plates and were taken care of. We received many compliments on how friendly the staff were. Kim made sure I ate and brought me a dinner plate and dessert so I wouldn't miss out on any of the food. They even packed up leftovers and we enjoyed them the next few nights for dinner.
Working with Kim and Chef was such an easy and comfortable experience and everything was just beyond every expectation I had. I could not have asked for a better experience and highly recommend using them for any catering event. I'm already looking for an excuse to have a catered party just so I can eat Chef's food again! -

We first met Kim & Chef at an open house for Woodlawn Manor and were immediately impressed by their binders full of pictures of mouth watering food. They were also clearly very familiar with the Montgomery County Park venues. We looked at reviews on our way home from the open house and were amazed-no one had a bad thing to say! We ended up picking our date at Woodlawn based on Kim & Chef's availability. Even before we had committed, Kim was beyond helpful in the planning process. As soon as she had our date, she sent me pictures of a previous wedding at Woodlawn around the same time of year as ours so that we would have an idea of what the grounds would look like. She also sent me a list of recommendations for DJs who were familiar with Woodlawn. Planning the menu seemed like a breeze with Kim. I remember it was during the blizzard in January 2016 when I was snowed in, and Kim sent me a series of emails with quick questions for apps, entrees, table cloth colors, etc., and before I knew it we had a draft menu with months to spare! It was also so nice that Kim & Chef had so much experience catering at Woodlawn. They knew what worked best, so I put my trust in them for the Plan A and Plan B floor plans, and everything worked out great. Kim & Chef were prepared for things I didn't even know I would need! I had bought tall table number holders for each table, but they kept blowing over in the breeze. It could have been a disaster (one fell onto a candle!) but they were prepared with their own table number holders that they swapped in before the reception and they looked great. Thank you Kim & Chef!! On the day of, the servers were great. They made sure my husband I got to try each of the appetizers and brought us drinks so we didn't have to wait in line and were able to socialize with our guests. The food was amazing, and we still dream about the mac & cheese. I highly recommend Stone Soup!! -

Sara Sent on 07/15/2015Oh Man! I wish there were more than 5 stars to give! Words cannot express how much we love Chef and Kim and their whole team! They have made our whole wedding planning experience the most enjoyable, convenient, informative, and made our wedding day flawless! And even if something did go wrong, they were so amazing to be sure that we would never noticed it. I feel like we gained more than a wedding vendor...we gained friends.
WE HIGHLY recommend Stone Soup! Their food really speaks for itself. We could rant and rave about it, but would immediately start drooling. You MUST try the food. We got so many compliments on the food. I've heard that most brides and grooms need to be reminded to eat. However, my husband and I made sure that, before anything, we HAD to have a plate of food. NO way would we miss out on eating all of Chef's food.

Chef and Kim did a great job at our wedding! ALL of our guest were ranting and raving about how delicious and great the food was! When did our tasting, we craved for their food and couldn't wait for our wedding day to try it once again.
If you are looking for a HEALTHY (I mean - no sugar and oil added to make your food look delicious and fake, but also any choice of gluten-free, Kosher, vegan, or vegetarian if you ask) and DELICIOUS food, this is a great option you could ever find!!! And you can't imagine, how delicious are the desserts! We even decided to make them our main dessert selection, and ordered a wedding cake from the Whole Foods just for staging.
Kim and Chef are truly masters of their business and know how to impress their clients. Not only they were extremely kind and helpful in accommodating our needs, but they were also very friendly and responsive from the very beginning to the very end.
If you are looking for a Caterer that will get every detail right and provide delicious, healthy, and beautiful food, then we highly recommend Stone Soup Catering for you.

We met them at our venue's open house and scheduled a tasting shortly after that. As soon as we tried the food, we knew we had found our caterer. They are very responsive and helpful regarding the food as well as other aspects of the reception. Kim is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience with weddings.
The extensive menu they provided made it easy to decide what food to have at the reception. They had so many wonderful choices :)
On wedding day we received several compliments on the food, we LOVED the food as well. Overall, it would be hard to find another caterer as great as them. We highly recommend Kim and Chef :D

Jamie Sent on 09/11/2012Stone Soup was recommended to me by a friend. They are an amazing duo, the food is fantastic and Kim and Robert are very patient. They answered every question we could think of, and I have a crazy mother (most brides do) who plans huge corporate events and meetings, so she's probably one of the best/worst clients to have. Kim and Chef Z went above and beyond any expectation I could have dreamed of. They were flexible, since it poured during our wedding and they had to move everything. They made sure I got to eat while running around, Kim made me a tiny plate and while one of my bridesmaids had cut her foot badly and I was bandaging her up, she found me in the bathroom and got me to eat!! lol
They sent me home with some amazing leftovers, and I couldn't be happier.
Today, I got back from my honeymoon and they sent me a few snapshots from the wedding, food and sillyness included.
If you want your wedding, or any event really to be a huge success- Choose stone soup catering, because until they get cloned, they're simply the best around. -

We were on a tight budget and they were extremely accommodating and helped to make our food unique, appropriate for our tasts, delicious, and as eco-friendly as possible for a very reasonable price. They and their servers worked so well with our "home-grown" help, patiently cleaned up spilled drinks from exuberant dancing guests, prepared a take-home plate of food for us, and worked with us to provide options for guests with a variety of dietary needs. Our ceremony was rained out and therefore required some last-minute logistical changes and Kim and Chef helped us handle everything with grace and ease. Everyone that interacted with them raved about how nice they were and I couldn't agree more. Our guests also raved about the food - one took THREE helpings of shepherd's pie! They totally understood what we wanted out of our wedding day and helped make it happen. I would highly recommend them for any event, big or small. I hope I have an occasion to hire them again in the future. -

After booking them, Kim made me feel so relaxed when it came to questions and putting together a "day-of" schedule with our selected DJ. On the day of our wedding, Chef Z and Kim, along with their helpers, all made our wedding picture perfect and they provided the best food service and taste I could imagine. My family had used Stone Soup a few years ago for a small event so they were the first and only caterer we received pricing from. Kim is the best to work with. Always quick to respond to emails and will work with you on every little detail until you are 1000% comfortable. I really cannot stress enough how easy the catering portion was for us and how nice Kim & Chef were at all times. Not one bump in the road, not one bad conversation, not one bad feeling about anything. On the day of the wedding everything went beautifully and the food was amazing. Our guests loved everything and raved to us about the food. Along with our dessert selection we also ordered some Italian cookies -- yummo! We plan to order some for Christmas, too! Thank you Kim & Chef for everything! We could not have been more happy with everything -- from start to finish!

Kathryn Sent on 11/26/2011Steve and I just got married on November 12th, 2011. We chose Stone Soup Catering for our wedding weekend (yes, weekend - we had them cater our rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, AND Sunday morning brunch). We kept them very busy!!
When we first looked at Stone Soup's website, we were impressed with their realistic pricing, but also how much fun they had with their website. This quote from the site just sums it up perfectly: "Be a hero and let Chef "Z" make your next event your BEST event!" Steve and I wanted to be "heroes" haha.
The first time we met them in person was at an event through Montgomery Parks. While there, we tried Chef's Maryland crab, spinach, and artichoke dip and also his sweet and smoky sesame meatballs. They were SOOOOO GOOD!
Then, we did a tasting. We tasted many different things from their homemade Sweet Red Wine salad dressing to their truffles. We loved everything we tried and we had so much fun getting to know Chef and Kim. Chef kept making comments like "My food rocks!" He was clearly enthusiastic and passionate about his job, and his enthusiasm was contagious. Kim was very sweet - she answered all of our questions in a very thoughtful way and gave us many useful suggestions. We booked them immediately afterward.
Over the next several months, we e-mailed often with Kim. Kim was always very professional, yet also relaxed. She gave us excellent suggestions for our menus, and she worked with us to incorporate our ideas as well. For example, she helped us create a Macaroni and Cheese station during our cocktail hour - that included buffalo chicken mac and cheese and white cheddar mac and cheese along with a bunch of different toppings. Our guests are still raving out this. The dinner buffet Kim helped us put together was excellent, too, as well as the dessert (including cheesecake shooters for the adults - yum! - and chocolate chip cookies with glasses of milk for the kids). The rehearsal dinner and brunch (omelet casserole and quiches especially) menus were excellent as well. Chef's food really does rock!!!
It did end up being a bit more than we expected in terms of cost (for example, we were hoping for a bit more of a deal since we used Stone Soup for three events), and we weren't actually able to taste all of the food that we selected for our menu. Despite this, we were confident the food would be great and well worth the price.
We highly recommend Stone Soup Catering. Chef's enthusiasm paired with Kim's sweet and easy going nature combine for an absolutely unstoppable duo :-)

We loved Stone Soup Caterers. Really experienced, great food and very helpful, positive and nice. Honestly I can’t comment on the price because we chose not to try and compare prices. We had heard such good things about Stone Soup and went with them as soon as we could sign the contract. Loved the food (lot’s of choices), loved the presentation. -

Fun & tasty is how I would describe Kim and Chef! They know what they are doing! The food was excellent and they are so fun to work with! Extremely responsive and helpful - we had some medical and religious restrictions with our food and they went above and beyond to make sure each person was taken care of and felt special. That's not easy to do for a large buffet style wedding! We really lucked out with them and I will recommend them to everyone i know! If you want to feel like family while having some good eats along the way, Kim and Chef are where it's at! -
