We have nothing but incredible things to say about our experience working with Steve. From our first conversation with him, it was clear how passionate and talented he is. My now husband and I are far from comfortable in front of the camera, but Steve made the whole process feel natural and fun. On our wedding day, he calmly kept things incredibly organized, directing and keeping things moving. When we got our pictures, we were amazed by how much it felt like we were right back in the day - certainly cause for some happy tears. The pure joy and emotion you can truly feel when looking at the photos, and all without looking posed or inauthentic. We would without question recommend Steve to anyone in need of a rockstar wedding photographer!

Perfect Photographer for a Destination Wedding

Steve is the best! He travelled from Chicago to South Carolina for our destination wedding in May 2022 (after rescheduling with us after our original date in July 2020), and I can't imagine having a better photographer. We knew from way back when we did our pre-COVID engagement shoot that he would put us at ease and get some really fun shots, and I'm sure the wedding photos will be gorgeous too. He and his assistant were such a pleasure to work with, I can't recommend them enough.

Incredible!

Steve Koo is one of the most amazing photographers. His photos are not only stunning, but he has a unique talent of capturing the emotions of everyone in the photos he takes. On top of that, Steve is a wonderful person. He genuinely wanted to get to know us so that he could tailor our wedding photos just for us. From our first consultation to the day of the wedding, he made the process comfortable and seamless. He makes it a point up front that he is the type of photographer that blends into the background, rather than trying to set up the moments he captures. And he wasn’t wrong! We heard from many of our guests that he was so stealthy throughout the whole night. The end results are unbelievably candid photos that truly capture the events of the day brilliantly. His artistry is just outstanding and we would recommend him to anyone with the greatest enthusiasm.

Steve photographed both my Sister and her husband's micro-wedding in 2020 (when they had to postpone their actual wedding), as well as their recent vow-renewal and celebration in 2021.

As a wedding planner, I referred my Sister and brother-in-law to Steve and I'm so glad I did. He is such a talented photographer and his calming, yet fun, and professional nature is the perfect personality to have on wedding day.

Highly recommended

Steve was exactly the kind of photographer we were looking for! We wanted someone who is good at turning unscripted moments into beautiful memories, and someone who could capture the intimate yet stunning, traditional yet unconventional nature of our small pandemic ceremony at our church.
I love the way Steve uses movement, natural lighting and colors to bring life to each photo—when viewing the entire album, it feels like you’re reading a unique story book. Even moments that are usually frowned upon (such as my husband’s dad having his phone out to record the entire ceremony) ended up being a hilarious endearing part of the photo album. :)
Steve was also very helpful and accommodating throughout the process. He handled multiple group portraits so smoothly, and found amazing hidden photo spots at our venue, although it was his first time being there!
While listening to what we wanted, he also leaned in with his professional experience, giving us plenty of guidance and suggestions to make the day much easier.

Candid & Professional Photographer - A Must Hire!

I can't say enough great things about Steve Koo Photography! My wife and I were lucky enough to land Steve as our photographer, and we couldn't be more satisfied with the outcome of both our engagement and wedding photos. Steve does an incredible job of capturing the moment in the most candid way possible. Outside of a few formal shots, I loved that nothing felt too staged. In addition, Steve was able to capture our personalities with his approach. While posing for a ton of photos can be awkward at times, he made us feel comfortable, and kept the mood light and fun. Professionally, he is incredibly buttoned up! He is punctual, an effective communicator (this is critical!), incredibly thorough, and quite frankly, a delightful person to work with. I can't wait to recommend him to EVERYONE I know!

Nice, Genuine, and Incredibly Talented = Best Wedding Photographer!

Steve Koo Photography is the best!! I couldn't have asked for a better wedding photographer and overall photography experience! Not only is Steve one of the nicest and most genuine people ever, his photography is absolutely stunning. I found Steve through a friend who used him for her wedding - I was obsessed with her photos. From the moment I had my first call with Steve I knew I wanted to work with him. Steve was super accommodating to travel to a destination of our choice for our engagement shoot. We got to know him a little bit and learn to feel comfortable being photographed. Our engagement photos are some of my favorite from the whole package. On my wedding day he was such a welcome addition to the bridal suite and after that, I mean this in the best way possible, I didn't even really notice that he was there, yet he somehow captured every moment perfectly. When all is said and done, you have your own memories and your photos...I am grateful to have such beautiful photos that I look at regularly to remind me of the best day of my life. Incredible!

Steve is the best! We hired him and an assistant of his for our wedding a couple of weeks ago and he was so fun and professional and made sure we got all of the photos we wanted. The entire process was seamless and simple from booking all the way up to the actual day of. They spent the entire day and evening with us. He even sent us a sneak peak video slideshow of some images and it was such a tease because they were so awesome we cannot wait to see the entire album. Our experience was so wonderful and Steve and his assistant photographer were such a pleasure to be with all day! I cannot say enough great things-- hire Steve, you will NOT be disappointed!

Incredible Photographer

Steve's work blew me away.
Not only were every single one of his photos stunning, he made us all feel comfortable throughout the entire day. Having someone take your picture non-stop for 10 hours can be awkward, but Steve has a process to get everyone used to it and his easy-going demeanor put everyone at ease. He was a shadow at the perfect moments, making sure to capture them without being in the way, and checked in on key guests always at the appropriate time.

Steve really excels at the informal- he captures the feeling and atmosphere in each picture. He gets the dancing, the perfect facial expressions, the personality of the wedding.

Also, trust his website, the pictures he has on it are indicative of the quality of pictures he actually takes. Hire him, you won't regret it.

Steve is seriously the best. As soon as we got the wedding venue and date, we booked him immediately! He shot our engagement shoot and our wedding .He is incredibly professional and knows what he's doing. He's also got a great personality and got along with my friends getting ready with me too. Steve has impeccable attention to detail and is incredible at capturing the most important parts of your big day. Steve Koo is simply the best. Every time I look through our photos (which is A LOT), I feel as though I'm reliving the wedding because of how he captured the joy of our day in such a candid, natural way. Each picture is so perfectly composed and artistic, and is the exact opposite of the stuffy, traditional, boring photos that I previously thought all wedding photos were. Besides his incredible talent, Steve is absolutely the nicest guy around and was a pleasure to work with. He was on time, professional, organized and calm. We had an amazing experience with Steve! Right when we got engaged we made a short list of photographers but Steve was #1. We were thrilled he was available for our date. He made everything super easy leading up to the wedding with a questionnaire a few weeks out that helped him gather all the information he needed (agenda, photo groupings, style preferences, etc.). And we did a quick phone call the week before to do a final run through. Steve was kind, thoughtful and a true expert through all of this. I definitely looked to him for input on planning and logistics along the way and he was willing to help no matter what questions I threw at him. The day of was an even better experience. Steve was professional, nimble (sounds weird - but you'll know what I mean when you work with him!) and incredibly talented. Within the first hour of him being with us, I knew our photos were going to be amazing. There wasn't a moment he missed - from big to small. He was also very diligent about capturing special requests we had (i.e. detail shots of my dress, etc.). We had full trust in him and never, not once looked around and said, "where's Steve?!". He didn't miss anything! And kudos goes out to his assistant, Yvone too! We are over the moon with the quality, aesthetic and priceless value of our wedding photos. They're stunning and there's nothing else I can say about it! I am so grateful we had the chance to work with him. I highly recommend Steve!

This review is LONG overdue but we want to make sure Steve Koo gets the credit he deserves. We first met Steve at our engagement photo session in Chicago. Steve's personality is warm and friendly and we instantly clicked with him... It was like hanging out with an old friend! He helped us to feel comfortable in front of the camera and it really showed through our engagement photos. He shot our destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas in May 2017. He brought his assistant Angela Rene with him and we absolutely LOVED working with the both of them. Our guests commented on how they were both incredibly kind, professional, and extremely talented photographers and we couldn't agree more! The day of our wedding we had some unexpected HIGH winds, to the point where our guests where wrapping themselves in beach blankets to stay warm and our dinnerware was blowing off the tables. We were honestly so worried about how the photos would turn out. Despite the unforgiving weather, Steve was able to capture our wedding day so perfectly and our photos were absolutely BEAUTIFUL. We received our wedding slideshow from Steve while we were honeymooning in the Philippines, and the photos brought us to tears. Steve has a real knack for finding the action and capturing the best moments! Thank you , Steve! You are a true gift!

Steve Koo did an unbelievable job capturing our wedding!!! The photos are genuine, honest, and beautiful - they tell the story of our day so perfectly it's hard to choose favorites! Together they make a collection that tells a story, and that's exactly what I wanted. His photojournalistic and artful style is very special- he photographed so many organic and touching moments, l am so happy with how everything turned out. Steve was extremely professional every minute of the day, every conversation we had. His 2nd shooter for our day was Rebecca - I must say she was also phenomenal and together they kept us comfortable while taking our most cherished photos.

We are SO thankful to have had Steve Koo as our wedding photographer!
If you are looking for a photojournalistic wedding photographer, look no further.
His photography is worthy of the New York Times, Time Magazine, or National Geographic!
He is TRULY an GIFTED ARTIST. When we first saw our wedding photos, we wept (tears of happiness, of course). The photos were BEAUTIFUL.
Our wedding celebration was an unstructured cocktail party, with no ceremony, no dancing, no "events". Yet Steve and his assistant managed to capture so many amazing, spontaneous moments of the people we love, and with such artistry. When shopping around for photographers, you may find yourself wondering if the photos on their websites represent only the very best of their work. But truly, Steve Koo's photographs of our wedding celebration were all consistently spectacular. I could look at our wedding photos all day.
And how he and his assistant managed to capture pictures of SO many of the people that attended our wedding (I think they managed to get everyone!), I don't know.
As for working with him, Steve was very warm, friendly, and professional.

Don't even hesitate for one second when thinking about booking Steve as your photographer. Not only is Steve professional, he embodies so much more that is crucial on your wedding day. Very much the anxious bride, Steve kept things calm, light and so fun. He didn't skip a beat in terms of capturing exactly what my vision was (and I didn't even ask him for anything in particular!) --- his pictures are absolutely stunning. I had guests at my wedding from all across the country and even folks traveling in from Australia and London who all thought he produced the single best wedding photos they had ever seen. Not only was I blown away, my family was blown away, and I couldn't have asked for a better way for the most special day of my life to be captured. Oh my goodness, I don't even know where to begin! Steve is absolutely incredible, I fell in love with his pictures when we started looking for downtown venues; I noticed very early on that each photo I was fawning over happened to be his work. And the rest is history! From our original Skype consultation to engagement photos and walking down the aisle, Steve exudes professionalism, warmth, and expertise. It's evident that this is his passion and true calling, I couldn't be more grateful for our favorite day to have been captured so perfectly.

Our June wedding was a hot one at 94 degrees, but looking at him you'd never know he had been going nonstop from 10-10pm. He was always eager to go above and beyond, and did so with a smile; whether that was jumping on a window sill to get the perfect angle, or literally laying down in the middle of LaSalle Street as cars sped by with congratulatory honks. His assistant was also incredible, she managed to capture so many moments during our reception that my family can't stop talking about. We have a gallery of 800+ images, and can honestly say that we love each and every one. Words just can't do his work justice, he is a wonderful person, and an outstanding photographer. Thank you Steve! We are so ridiculously happy.

I honestly don't even know where to start because I can't seem to say enough good things about Steve Koo. Seriously, prepare for major gushing. From the start Steve was a pleasure to work with. He made the process so straightfoward and simple that we didn't even meet him until the wedding day! We just had so much confidence in him that we knew he had everything together. When we did finally meet Steve on the day of the wedding, it was like meeting an old friend. He and his assistant, Cara (Kara?), were so easygoing and friendly that we all felt instantly comfortable having them around. From a photography standpoint, the whole wedding was fun and easy. Steve walked us through the "First Look" and portraits - where to stand, how to hold our arms, where to look - and stayed in the shadows during the ceremony and reception in order to catch the most amazing candids. He captured moments that we weren't really aware of and moments that we had missed completely. My Maid of Honor and I still joke how Steve seemed to be everywhere - he was standing on a (swivel!) chair, lying (in his suit!) on the ground, behind me fixing my dress - and yet nowhere because he was never in the way, his presence was never overt or conspicuous. When we did receive all the photos, we were really blown away despite already seeing a sampling in the slideshow. The photos are so vibrant and he captures emotion so well. It seemed like he really was everywhere because he caught everything. We weren't originally planning on ordering a wedding album because my (now) husband and I aren't the sentimental types, but Steve's photos turned us into the sentimental types! The photos are so incredible that we realized we did need an album after all; these photos were meant to be shown off because they're so thoughtful and well executed. We couldn't be happier with Steve and his work. I have to force myself to stop writing this review because, like I warned...gushing.

If we only had three words to describe Steve, we’d pick: nicest, friendliest, and most professional vendor for our entire wedding. Actually, we had Steve for our engagement photos, too. It’s really hard to describe what Steve does until you see it in person. Whether it was organizing our families who were out of place in photos, or simply checking in with us intermittently, Steve did it all. You can certainly check out his photos and blog reviews.

As great as those are, nothing can do justice to how exceptional Steve is at his craft. Steve will literally find ways to capture the moments perfectly – sliding on the dance floor, standing atop furniture, and even putting his balance to the test. We had more people asking for Steve’s contact information at the end of the night than people eating dessert (and our dessert was delicious!). We absolutely adore Steve and cannot even find the right words to encapsulate our gratitude for his work.

So you are looking for a wedding photographer, yes? I'd recommend you stop reading this and just book Steve Koo immediately. I was first introduced to Steve's work after he shot my friend's wedding, and I started stalking his blog months before I even got engaged. Once we had a date and a venue, booking Steve Koo was the obvious next thing to do. I've never thrown down a deposit on anything so fast. Obviously if you have looked at his website or blog you know that his work is truly incredible. I got married at a Marriott and he made it look like a ritzy boutique hotel. What you don't realize is that not only will he capture incredible shots on your wedding day, but he basically becomes a stand-in wedding coordinator. He told me how to carry my dress, helped me figure out when to get everyone downstairs, and even told me how to cut the cake - literally while taking a picture of me. His calm demeanor makes the inherent chaos of any wedding day more manageable. He's extremely professional, responds to correspondence nearly immediately, and is all around a joy to work with. If you're going to have someone spend hours upon hours with you on your wedding day, all while capturing amazingly beautiful pictures, it'd better be Steve Koo.

To summarize: book Steve Koo, it is the best decision you will make throughout this entire process (aside from agreeing to get married).

We used Steve for both our engagement shoot and our wedding. He is fantastic to work with! He has the ability to put you at ease (especially when you are not used to getting your picture taken) and his pictures turn out AMAZING! He truly captures the feeling of the day! We were kind of bummed that we didn't end up booking a videographer but after seeing Steve's pictures we realized there was no need... he did such a great job capturing all the little moments that we feel like we could relive the day over and over. Steve is great to work with, prompt at returning emails, and takes fantastic pictures that are natural and yet look great. Somehow he managed to take pictures of both of us that neither of us mind looking at. He also provides quick turn around time so that you're not waiting for months to see the actual pictures. As other people have mentioned, you forget he is there. And while he has you do lots of silly poses they come out looking unstaged and natural. His antics are pretty entertaining too as he dives down to get a shot or balances on non flat surfaces. There were a couple of hiccups with the posed family photos in which some people were accidentally left out and others included. But those things are hard to group especially when so many different people are involved. And those were more for the parents and extended family anyhow.

Working with Steve was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We felt comfortable and relaxed all day, as did our wedding party. Looking through our wedding photos, Steve didn't miss a thing. He captured everything exactly the way I remembered it happening. Choosing photos for an album has proven to be an impossible task, because I love every single photo. His lighting techniques are truly out of this world. Steve is a master at what he does, and we felt so fortunate to work with someone who is as equally talented as he is a genunienly nice person.

As my fiancée were planning our wedding, we both agreed that having a good wedding photographer was very important to us both. And in the end, we were lucky enough to work with Steve Koo and his talented team, whose work and complete professionalism throughout the process totally blew us away.

Steve and his team were a pleasure to work with throughout the wedding planning process and on our wedding day. As we were planning, Steve promptly responded to all of our questions and was helpful in collaborating with us to ensure that he captured all of the important moments of our day(places to shoot, timing, etc.).

Our big Indian wedding was very chaotic from the minute that the day began, and Steve and his team worked through the chaos to capture the best moments seamlessly. We received MANY compliments from our guests about how the team did a great job of working in the shadows to capture every moment of the day. Steve and his team arrived at our venue early and stayed even later than we expected to capture the whole event, and as a result, captured some great moments in the evening.

A few weeks after our wedding, we saw our pictures and were beyond impressed with how beautiful the pictures were and the moments that Steve and his team were able to capture. We loved his style and how his photos really captured the emotions of the day. A few weeks after the wedding, Steve provided us with a slideshow that gave us a sneak peek at some of our pictures, and it was beautifully made - I must have watched it a hundred times, and was moved by it every time.

Thank you Steve for giving us such great photographs to commemorate one of the most important days of our lives - it was really a pleasure working with you!!

The best decision I made for my wedding was hiring Steve Koo.
From the start - he was great to work with. He was very clear with his packages, pricing, and timeline. All questions were answered immediatey and we got to know his personality from the start.
Our engagement session was a total BLAST! It was boiling hot in the mid of July in Chicago and it could not have mattered less. Steve showed up with a bright smile - bright camera - and huge expectations. We knew the style of pictures we wanted and he executed it 100%. We walked around an area of Chicago that my fiance and I had not been before and the pictures turned out amazing. We received the pictures in about 2 weeks and we were so excited - the best feeling when you know someone amazing is going to photograph your wedding.
The day of our wedding could not have gone more smooth. Steve and his assistant showed up early and had the calm, cool, and collected attitude we had for the whole wedding. It seemed more like friends showing up for the big day. He showed up as I was getting ready and he was laughing and joking with myself, my family, and friends the entire day. Steve even rode in the car with me and my parents to the church and it was so much fun - like hanging out with a friend!
Of course the rest of the wedding day was perfect. He made sure my husband and I were comfortable the whole day and made sure we all had fun. He captured our wedding day so precisly without being intrusive which was amazing. ]Steve Koo understands what a bride wants.
As someone that got married almost 6 months ago - he is still the best decision I have made for my wedding. The pictures were OUTSTANDING and we are thankful every single day that we hired Steve. We love all the pictures and cant wait to work with Steve in the future. If his personaly doesnt get you (which would be shocking) then his pictures will.

Steve came as a recommendation from my brother and sister-in-law. I honestly do not know where to start! We used Steve for our engagement and wedding photos. Our engagement and wedding photos turned out phenomenal. On the day of the wedding, Steve and his assistant arrived on time filled with excitement and a positive energy. The morning of the wedding was busy with hair and makeup and people running all around. Steve was quiet and maneuvered through the chaos as he captured amazing shots. Never was he demanding or put anything on hold. He moved with the flow of the morning. I was a little nervous that we did not give him a "shot list" but he often asked me if there was anything in particular that I wanted to capture. Steve and his assistant were very organized as well. He captured wonderful shots at the ceremony and reception as well. He was sure to ask me at the reception if there were specific shots I wanted him to take before he left. We only had him for a certain amount of time per our contract, but he stayed well beyond that time-- which was so nice and certainly did not go unnoticed. We are so happy we went with Steve. We now have beautiful photos that will last us a life time. I literally look at them every night before bed because they allow me to relive the best day of my life. We constantly receive compliments on them as well! After we received the photos I noticed that there were a few of my friends that were not photographed. I inquired about this and Steve was so professional in his response. He even looked back through all of the photos to see if he could find them in any of his photos. Talk about flexible and accommodating! What I love most about Steve is that he is willing to work with you. He truly views you as "the customer" and wants you to be happy. When he sent us our photos he even included a thank you card! I recommend Steve Koo 1 million times over without reservation. Thanks again Steve!

Choosing a photographer was the number one, most important decision in my mind. We really wanted somebody that had a truly unique style without being too "artsy"... We had interviewed three photographers before we found Steve Koo and my husband and I looked at each other after meeting Steve and both said "he's the one."

Steve likes to get to know his clients prior to shooting their wedding day, so we took him out on what we would consider a typical Friday night for us as our "engagement session" - barbecue, bowling, and karaoke. The fact that he could make three of the dive-iest places that we know look stunning is a testament to his amazing skill.

The day of our wedding, Steve Koo and his assistants were EVERYWHERE! They captured so many amazing, beautiful, and touching moments that I would have never seen if it wasn't for them.

His professionalism and sense of humor make him such a pleasure to work with, I can't wait to have him document the next major events in our lives!

I love Steve so much! First, and most important, his photos are wonderful. Just absolutely gorgeous. His photography packages are so affordable and worth every dime. I continue to get complements on the photos. After the wedding was over, I started to get a bit nervous that I didn't hire someone to record the wedding, but Steve sent me a link to a slide show he put together and it eased all my fears (and even make me cry). What can we say about Steve Koo? He is absolutely excellent at what he does and we love him!! We chose Steve Koo as our wedding photographer, and have been 200% ecstatic about his work. Based on his portfolio and his website, while perusing different photographers for our wedding, he was the first person we met and interviewed--and the last! We felt an instant rapport with him and we knew he was our guy. Just talking to him and looking at his prints on paper, and the vibrant colors that captured the essence and emotion of that moment in time, we booked him that day--and never looked back. We wanted more of a photojournalist approach to document our day, and he was awesome. Just as importantly, he is a super professional and easy guy to work with. We had our engagement photo session with him, which was great in a few ways as it got us to know each other, and for us to 'practice' just being us for the wedding and that it wouldn't be overwhelming or weird to have someone follow us and take pictures all day.

So if there was 10 stars we would give it to him....why? Because we had Steve shoot for us the entire day starting at 8am all the way to the reception that night. We had a vietnamese tea ceremony in the morning that required meeting at one house, driving to another, and driving back to my (the groom's) house for the full blown tea ceremony. This is also a great moment to holler out at his ALSO FANTASTIC 2nd photographer Deb. She was there for the long haul as well. 14 hours of being around our family and friends without a complaint, even through the breakdowns and craziness and tense moments of deciding about yea or nay on an outside ceremony due to weather. They both were there shooting, capturing the moments, but was never in the way or intrusive, yet was able to completely get everything on photo.

But most importantly for you readers to know is that we couldn't be more happy with his product. He captured the love, the happiness, the crazy fun time we had at the reception, special moments between our parents and friends and plenty more of candids. We were seriously blown away by Steve Koo (and Deb). And to that testament, we just moved to MA, and when we have a baby or another huge event, we will either fly back or fly him out.

And if you're still reading, lastly and the best way to describe Steve Koo's work is from the words of my cousin, who lives in Vietnam, and was not there at the wedding, but saw our pictures....she said "...looking at the pictures is like something I have never seen before, it was like watching a movie and seeing the wedding, and being able to feel the same emotions depicted on the pictures....it was really like a story book that didn't get old or boring, it was exciting..."

There is a reason Steve gets all 5-star reviews - he deserves them.

While planning our wedding, my (now) wife and I found Steve on Yelp. We were impressed with his reviews, so we scheduled a meeting at his home. Steve didn't need to do much selling to us, his work samples spoke for themselves. We were impressed with the professionalism of the photos, as well as his ability to capture moments ... the fact that I would say something that corny should be a pretty powerful statement. Don't listen to my drivel about how good the pictures are, go check out his website. Again, the quality speaks for itself.

What the work samples don't show is how great it is to work with Steve. We did our complimentary engagement photos with him a couple weeks before our wedding, which served as a great warm-up and got us comfortable working with him. He was completely accommodating to our schedule and we were really happy with the results. At the wedding, Steve was extremely professional and accommodating; he managed our large family for portraits with ease, he made sure we had the photos we wanted, and was completely non-obtrusive throughout the process (while still managing to capture everything). Everyone who's seen the pictures has been extremely impressed. One of our guests noticed him literally crawling on our dance floor to get a shot. After the wedding, while he was in the process of editing photos, he picked some to send us early, which was greatly appreciated as we were eager to see them. One amazing (and unexpected) touch he put together was a slideshow complete with music that ran through the evening chronologically and captured the essence throughout. At the end, Steve sent us CD's with all of our edited photos (completely free of any watermarking), to use as we saw fit. That was an amazing perk of working with Steve (he never pressured us unduly into doing prints through him).

I need to reiterate that the quality of the photos themselves was outstanding. Steve has a great eye and produces excellent work. Again, check out his website.

We were extremely happy that we chose Steve as the photographer for our wedding. Both his professionalism and quality of work were outstanding. We will look at his work for years to come with nothing but fond memories.

I can't say enough good things about Steve Koo and the quality of his work. Our wedding photos came out better than we ever imagined. Every time we look at the pictures it's like we are reliving our wedding day. He is incredibly professional, efficient, organized, patient and sincere. He seems able to be everywhere at once without being obtrusive or distracting and has a great understanding of the client's expectations - and then exceeds them. His photos are full of color, energy and pure emotion. You will come away from your event feeling like Steve is a new friend who loved your wedding as much as you did. He truly is the best.

From my wedding research, I concluded that in general, all brides and grooms are happy or satisfied with their wedding photos and why not!? It’s a super special day where you and your spouse (hopefully) look your best and share beautiful memories…of course you’re going love looking at your pictures…

Well, my husband and I are no different. We absolutely love our wedding photos! We were so lucky to find Steve, someone whose work and professionalism we had full confidence in. There are no words to describe how amazing Steve Koo is. None. I found his blog while Google-ing Chicago photographers. I was actually hoping to get ideas on venues and photography locations, etc, but I was really drawn to his pics. They were so beautiful and none of them were staged or cheesy.

The photographer was the single most important thing at my wedding. Some will spare no expense on the dress or the caterer or the flowers; all I wanted was a super-fantastic photographer. I figured if all else fails and everything turns to crap on the wedding day, a good photographer can still document the event beautifully, and that's all I wanted: beautiful memories.

Since I don't live in Chicago, I set up all my photographer meetings for one day -- there were five in total. The first two meetings were just fine, but I wasn't in love. I knew I would be settling with those photographers. Then I went to Steve's house and I just knew. My MOH was with me since my husband had not come on this particular trip. She just knew too. In fact, about ten minutes after parting ways with Steve, I canceled the other two appointments and reveled in having found 'the one' ... well, I suppose he would be the 'other one'.

First of all, his house is so cute. I know this may seem irrelevant but this little detail helped me understand his style. He was hip, modern, clean and elegant. He showed his samples on an iPad and had bound books that I could look through. None of it was over-the-top, but more of an organic extension of him and his style. These kinds of things are important to me and when I saw that he took pride in the things that spoke to me, I knew he'd 'get' me and what I'd want.

Steve is kind and helpful, creative and understanding, talented and easy to work with. We did an engagement session with him and also our wedding (which was in Sept 2011). Both times, he started out asking what we wanted and when I couldn't answer questions, he'd have suggestions ... really good ones. During the actual photo sessions, he was calm and laid back, but he gave good direction and had great ideas. He was always kind and relaxed, which puts you at ease, but you also know he's working hard -- looking for the right light and the good angles.

During the actual wedding ceremony and reception, I didn't even notice him or his second, which to me was a gift. I didn't want to be bothered or feel like paparazzi was hounding me and that never happened. Yet he still managed to get the most amazing shots. His work is gorgeous. I have received SO many compliments on my photos and not polite you-were-just-a-bride-so-I'm-being-nice compliments, but genuine positive feedback on the actual photography. Our families were impressed and couldn't wait to get the images.

I could go on and on, but you get the point. If you're looking for a photographer, check out his blog and definitely meet with him. His service is worth triple what he charges. Plus, you work directly with Steve the entire time which is much better than working with a rep at an agency.

Steve Koo is awesome and highly recommended in my book! He was able to capture not just images of our wedding, but was able to capture the spirit of each and every moment. Steve doesn't take staged pictures unless you want them and made us feel so comfortable. He took pictures that captured our silliness.

Steve also took our engagement photos; my (now) husband wasn't looking forward to them and afterwards talked about how much unexpected fun he had. I remember Steve telling us to talk to each other and have fun! We did just that and got really awesome photos.

Throughout the engagement photo session and the day of the wedding, we were able to laugh, joke, and get lost in the moment. Steve takes pictures through it all and is able to get some really great stuff! I absolutely love our pictures--I especially love the pictures that he took of things that "just happened" throughout the day! Throughout the entire day, Steve was always around and constantly snapping photos, but it was almost like he wasn't even there; he let us do our thing and took pictures of it all---sometimes, I truly forgot he was even there! My mom said, "Well that Steve Koo seemed to be taking pictures all over the place, but sometimes I forgot he was the photographer."

Steve was flexible and was able to go with the flow. He was quick in getting pictures up for us to see online to share with others and sent us a CD with all of the pictures on it, without being asked, weeks before I expected to have it. That to me showed just how professional he truly is-he stuck to his word and made sure that we had them right away. Steve was always early, quick at returning emails and phone calls, and always has a smile on his face!

We loved Steve's work so much we had to drag him out to Cape Cod for our wedding. Steve is a picture-taking machine and captured all the important moments of our wedding (plus all our crazy hijinks) in such a natural and beautiful way that even the portrait-loving parents were sold on his photojournalistic style. Steve and his second-shooter followed us *tirelessly* through the rehearsal dinner on Friday evening and the entire wedding day (from getting ready in the morning to the very end of the reception). And you won't mind him following you everywhere - it's like having one of your best buddies taking pictures at your wedding. He'll put you at ease in front of the camera.
Steve is also super accommodating with his busy schedule - he even squeezed in our engagement shoot in NYC when he happened to be there for who knows how many other shoots. And the turnaround time on our pictures has been ridiculously fast - I know people who got married a year before us and are only now just getting their professional photos. We had all the digital pictures within a few weeks!

Steve was absolutely amazing to work with. My husband and I got married in May, and Steve was our photographer. Steve had worked with us previously to do an engagement shoot prior to our wedding. Steve is everything you want out of a wedding photographer - he is professional, calm, friendly, and most importantly takes amazing photos. During our engagement shoot Steve did a great job directing us through the shoot and found great locations for us to take pictures. As for our wedding day Steve was like a photography ninja - he was simultaneously everywhere and nowhere. Steve was around me throughout the entire day capturing all of the wedding day events, however, I rarely even noticed he was there, which is exactly what you want from a wedding photographer! Steve also has a wonderfully calming presence throughout all the wedding day fiasco. I highly recommend Steve for a photographer - he was absolutely wonderful. If I ever need a professional photographer in the future I know who I'm calling!

We did our engagement pictures with Steve and he was wonderful to work with. My husband has what I like to call "Chandler syndrome" where he is fine until right when you take the picture and then he has his eyes closed, funny face, etc. So, he is always a little wary of the picture taking process. But Steve made us feel comfortable, had great locations for our pictures and was really easy going. It was the perfect combination of him giving out great ideas and us letting him know some shots we definately wanted - complete with outfit and location changes! I highly recommend him to anyone in the Chicago area.

My husband and I got married on Kauai in February 2011 and Steve was our photographer. Steve and I had been aquaintences for quite a while before we hired him for our wedding & engagement photos. I knew I loved his style of photography & I knew he was a cool guy... but what would it be like to work together? The answer is AWESOME!

My husband I live in Chicago and Steve did our engagement session here in our Logan Square neighborhood. We weren't sure about doing an engagement session, especially my husband, but the photos turned out great & will be keepsakes for life. If nothing else, doing the engagement session helped us get used to seeing Steve with a camera pointing at us before the big day!

For our wedding we had Steve fly out to Kauai. He was super easy to work with to get this coordinated & always prompt and professional throughout the entire process. On the day of the wedding, Steve was all over the place, capturing every moment, but not in an intrusive way at all. I get very self-conscious when I am being photographed and Steve was able to put me, and everyone, at ease.

Our photographs turned out fantastic. Our friends & family, and most importantly, my husband and I, are thrilled with the end result. The wedding photos that Steve took really convey the spirit of our wedding day. We were so thankful to have Steve in Hawaii with us. We have a lot of friends who got married last year and a few this year and we have highly recommended Steve to every one of them!

Steve was our photographer for our June 2010 wedding and our 'happily married' photos, and not only is he a talented professional wedding photographer - he's a great guy to work with! My husband and I were getting married in Chicago, but I lived in Cincinnati, OH while my husband was in Madison, WI - so timing didn't work to schedule engagement photos as planned. Therefore, Steve was able to use our engagement photos credit and shoot 'happily married' photos in NYC (we moved to NJ) later in the year!

Steve is also an expert with the whole wedding process - and thankgoodness he remembered the veil at the hotel when everyone else forgot! He delivers on timing when he says he will so I never had the extra step of 'follow-up' with him. He stays in the background and doesn't interfere with the wedding - and is always up for ideas you may have. I highly recommend Steve for your wedding photography, the most important piece to preserving your wedding memories!

Steve Koo has a great eye for all the little things that make wedding photography memorable. We used him not only for our wedding day, but an engagement photo session as well. He has a keen eye for capturing some of the little details you'll remember long after the day ends, as well as capturing candid moments (especially on the dance floor). You could go to a wedding photo company and get one of many on their roster, but with Steve you know what you're getting. He blogs constantly his work in progress, so you have a much better feel for what you might see before you have your wedding. He's calm and casual, but he's a true professional that I'd definitely recommend.

Steve was my photographer for our engagement shoot and our May 2010 wedding. Hiring Steve (and his assistant) as our wedding photographer was by far the best decision I made in my wedding planning process. I blog stalked Steve for months before hiring (and almost everyday thereafter) and was excited to see that Steve was constantly improving on his already amazing talent. He not only creates amazingly beautiful and unique photos but is professional, reliable and approachable. Steve was my one dependable vendor. He was always prompt, responsive to my suggestions and questions, and I never worried that he would fail to catch a critical moment. I think Steve is an even greater photographer for having recently been married. He understands first hand which special moments need to be captured. I have received countless compliments on our wedding and engagement photos. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Steve in the future or recommend him to anyone in need of a photographer.

I cannot say enough good things about Steve Koo and his photography. My husband and I would recommend him to anyone! He was easy and fun to work with and took great photos both for our engagement shoot (for which he flew out to San Francisco!) and our wedding in Chicago. He has an awesome eye for color and composition, and he captured the spirit and emotion of little moments. There were no cheesy, posy shots except for those family photos that we wanted to take. His style is photojournalistic, and he does amazing black and white shots as well as color.

Steve is also just a great person, and when you're spending hours with someone on your wedding day, that matters a lot. He was a mellow, calming presence on a hectic day. He and his assistant were great at directing us when they needed to, but also great at just melting into the background and taking photos of all the important moments without us even noticing they were there. He sent us a preview of our photos within a day or two of the wedding and sent us all the rest on dvd's within a matter of weeks.

He was everything we were looking for in photgrapher- professional, creative, talented, hard worker etc. He photographed my destination wedding and really captured both the beautiful natural backdrop as well as everyones personalities so perfectly! When I first contacted Steve, he was really prompt and professional. Steve continued to be great over e-mail, patiently answering all my questions. This is super important for a long-distance bride! After we finally met several months later, he was even better in person. His style is photojournalistic which was what we wanted. He was willing to come to our courthouse wedding after asking him only a week before and to all the venues on our wedding day. We just got our DVD, and we're amazed by the great photos that he captured. His photos arrived as delivered, and we can't wait to get the album. We were hoping that he would come to England for our second reception, but he needs to go to his friend's wedding! We've already recommended him to all of our friends in the area who are getting married. Steve has a client for life with us; we can wait for him to take all of our life's milestones.

Steve Koo is an amazing photographer! By far the best decision we made! My husband and I knew we wanted non-traditional photojournalistic photography and Steve Koo did just that. His keen attention to detail makes him a true professional. He is a pleasure to be around and not at all intrusive! I just don't where to begin about how much my husband and I loved working with Steve. He is an amazingly talented photographer with a very innovative and non conventional style to photography. His creativity and attention to detail is outstanding. He is a really friendly and personable guy, and did a miraculous job of making my husband and I feel comfortable being photographed, which is a major breakthrough for both of us! We had such a great experience with him, starting with our engagement shoot all the way to the actual wedding. Not to mention, he was very prompt in turn around time of pictures and correspondences! I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I cannot say enough good things about Steve Koo. After the wonderful engagement shoot Steve did for us, we just knew we had to have him at our wedding. For a girl who does not feel particularly comfortable in front of the camera, I felt extremely confident knowing Steve was behind the lens on the biggest day of my life (the man was even nice enough to carry my lip gloss during the post-ceremony photo shoot). His contemporary style and amazing attention to detail captured the fun and elegance of our big day in a way that I had not seen from other photographers we spoke with. His professionalism and personality set me at ease and helped to enhance the joy of our big day! I would highly recommend Steve for any photography needs....his photo journalistic style is perfect for family portraits too!

Steve was the photographer for our February 2009 wedding in Chicago and I can't recommend him highly enough. Working in advertising, I had pretty high standards when it came to photography and Steve's work far exceeded my expectations. He is truly an artist and has an eye for great composition which allowed him to find interesting and unique ways to capture our day. He provided great recommendations for post ceremony locations and even took a couple scouting shots before our wedding so we could see what the location would look and feel like in our photos. Steve was great to work with the day of our wedding and even braved the extreme cold for outdoor shots! There's no doubt that Steve was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process. I know he will quickly become one of the top wedding photographers in the city.

After seeing a few of Steve's wedding photos via facebook and his blog, I really loved his style of photography. We decided to meet with him and a few other photographers we had seen at wedding shows and online. Meeting with Steve the first time, his bubbly personality came through right away - he made us feel comfortable, while also answering all of our questions and addressing concerns.

Throughout the whole planning process, we were impressed with Steve's flexibility, professionalism & talent. He always responded to our e-mails promptly and thoroughly, always was able to work within our busy schedule in the months leading up to the venue, and after getting our engagement pictures back a few months before the wedding, we were confident we had made the right choice - we loved the results!

One of the things I did not realize until my wedding day was how much a photographer's presence really would be felt. During the wedding day, Steve was friendly, upbeat, and respectful of special/private moments. He's a bit of a photo ninja, popping up in strange places to get a great angle on a photo. I believe other photographers could have slowed the momentum of the day or created annoyances, but Steve instead added to the day, and really understood what was important to us.

We loved the photos that came back from our day, and have gotten many compliments on them. Steve was one of our more expensive vendors for our big day, but I don't think we regret any of that money we spent - the experience and photos are wonderful, and something we will cherish for years! I'd highly recommend Steve as a wedding photographer!

Steve Koo is a friendly, cheerful, happy, and incredibly skilled photographer. In all of our consultations with him he was smiling and so excited for the adventure of our wedding to take place. He got to know us personally, so that he would know what was important for us to be captured on the day of the wedding. He even became quick friends with our two rambunctious dogs on our engagement shoot! He showed up full of energy on the wedding day, and chose an excellent second photographer as well. The range of photos he provided us range from the classic portraits (at our request) to broad, expansive, and epic photos that capture the majestic backdrop we were lucky enough to have. He was always responsive and prompt with any questions or concerns we had, and truly cared about making us happy customers. We would highly recommend Steve, and are glad we chose him!

It's almost scary to see your wedding pictures after you've formed an image in your mind of what that amazing day was like. You want to retain that image as it was, colored with all the emotion that you were feeling as the day unfolded. Steve Koo's photography has this incredible ability of being able to bring those moments held in your mind's eye to life.

What are the things you look for when choosing a wedding photographer? You want somebody professional, courteous and kind, flexible, creative, unobtrusive, and someone who has that special intangible ability to bring out the magic of your day. I can easily say that Steve Koo possesses all of these qualities.

Because both my husband and I were living on opposite coasts and I sustained a broken bone just prior to our wedding, we were unable to meet with Steve beforehand or partake in the complimentary engagement photos sessions. Nevertheless, I could tell by our easy and prompt online and phone communications that everything was going to be just fine. And I was right. He and his assistant showed up right on time, were present without being in the way, were flexible in every regard, and captured some amazingly beautiful and creative shots. But don't just take it from me, here's what my friends said upon seeing the pictures (which, by the way, came only 2 short weeks after the wedding!):

Steve was absolutely wonderful to work with on the day of the wedding. Relaxed and friendly, while still working very hard to get great shots. His second photographer, Deborah, was fantastic as well. We received so many compliments on our photos, and are so happy with the decision to go with Steve.
