Above and Beyond!

We hired John to be the DJ at our Wedding Reception and from the first call we had with him, we knew we were lucky to find him! We heard about him on recommendation from a relative and he surpassed expectations. John has hosted events so many times that he has an excellent framework of recommendations but is also flexible to any input or feedback we had. He has an impressive knowledge of crowd flow and behavior. John provided wonderful recommendations without creating any pressure to buy anything more than what we wanted too. We would highly recommend John and Staar Entertainment to anyone needing a DJ or other entertainment services that they provide!

Son's Bar Mitzvahs

John and Staar entertainment were recommended to me from my venue. After contacting John, we had a meeting where he went over everything I needed to know regarding the event timeline. He made recommendations of other vendors and items I needed to purchase to make the event a success. His specialty in Bar Mitzvahs made his help immeasurable. The Bar Mitzvah was amazing. He kept everything running efficiently. The event was high energy and everyone had an amazing time. Several guests were impressed enough to hire Staar to DJ their events. I hired John again for my younger son's Bar Mitzvah. I booked him a year and a half in advance to ensure my success. Once again, John did an amazing job. The event was an amazing success and I couldn't be happier. Hiring John was the best decision I made during the planning process.

Excellent work

My wife and I want to give a big shout out to John W. at Staar Entertainment for being the best DJ we could have ever asked for! He worked hard with us to figure out the music for our wedding. Even when we were struggling to pick music, he was there with quick insights and recommendations only a true professional could provide. Also going above and beyond providing extra equipment to create a wonderful atmosphere for our guests, 10/10 would definitely go with this company again for future events

I wouldn't have a party without Staar Entertainment1

I used John Wendelken for my son's bar mitzvah a 5 years ago. He was absolutely amazing!!! He's such a nice, and easy going person and was great with my son when he met him. He was great to plan with. We met and discussed every aspect of the party. He was open to anything we wanted and had great ideas as well. The party went off without a hitch. He was so fun! All the kids had a blast and even the adults had fun because he included them in the festivities. I still have people telling me that it was the best party they have ever been to! So, when it came time to plan my other son's bar mitzvah, I literally brought the dates to John first to make sure he was available. I wouldn't have anyone else run my party!! He is top notch!

Excellent One-Stop Shop Vendor!

John and his team went above and beyond all of our expectations! Until now we have never used an auctioneer for our annual school function, and it made a huge difference in our bottom line. We raised more money this year than ever before. From the early planning stages, to the post-event wrap up call, John and his team provided top-notch customer service. It was nice to have so many services through one vendor- MC, Auctioneer, DJ, Photobooth, and Lighting. It is a one-stop shop for all of our function needs that we will continue to use for years to come!

John and Ashley were an amazing duo!

Staar entertainment was absolutely amazing at our wedding this weekend. Ashley and John were the perfect team. Ashley responded to all of my emails in a timely manner, answered all my questions and made the process so easy for me and my husband, especially considering how many changes I had to make on a daily basis due to COVID. John was incredible. I loved his energy and personality. He was easy to work with and he really helped make the wedding great. I felt like we really had a good vibe going with him. He made the wedding fun, even though a lot of people were nervous about dancing due to the whole social distancing thing, he was still able to get majority of our guests on the dance floor and made them feel comfortable. We received a lot of compliments from our guests about how great the DJ was. He really helped make the party come alive. Like I said, he was super involved, very organized, and had an amazing personality. Would definitely use this company again for any future parties.

For the Best in Customer Service, Party Music, and More!

The moment our son told us he was getting married, my husband and I decided one of our gifts to the happy couple would be the gift of music, meaning that we would hire the best DJ we could find. Luckily, we already knew who that would be: STAAR Entertainment. In the past we had been to different events where DJ John was in charge, and every single time there was great music, incredible energy, and beautiful lighting. Prior to the wedding day, he or someone from his team promptly returned all phone calls, emails, and texts. John spent time with us on multiple occasions discussing every detail and made recommendations when we weren’t sure. In fact, John’s dedication to his craft is evident in everything he does.

One of the most important points in this review is that DJ John made up for what the wedding venue (a local country club) failed to do. If it weren’t for DJ John, for example, our son and daughter-in-law’s ceremony would not have had any sound. John’s electrical equipment was ready-to-go, but the venue did not provide any extension cords, outlets, or anything else that was supposed to have been in place. Had it not been for John’s professionalism and foresight for things that could go wrong, the ceremony might not have happened. His out-of-the-box thinking – and quickly – allowed the ceremony to take place on time with the music and sound as planned. Thankfully, the wedding was a success due in large part to DJ John!

In conclusion, I would trust DJ John and STAAR Entertainment with any event, large or small. You will have every detail taken care of, and in our case, if you were to have problems with the venue, John will know how to make it alright. As a DJ, John knows how to play a crowd, take requests, and keep the party going for everyone. What more is there to say except for all your DJ needs do not hesitate for the best in customer service, party music, and more. Finally, I personally loved the hometown-feel that I got every time I talked to John or his assistant, Ashley. Each communication was like talking to an old friend. With STAAR Entertainment, you will get what you pay for. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Made my wedding a hit

John from Staar entertainment DJ'd my wedding this past July and was everything I could've asked for. He teamed up with my coordinator and got my processional perfect, and he got a room full of Baptists dancing for hours on a Sunday night (a difficult feat). A master at reading the room, accommodated for my budget, and he and his team are very easy to talk to and bug with questions. A great pick for any big event.

He worked the room

When we used John it was before online ratings were a thing. While camping at Sun n Fun in Sarasota we ran into him again after 18 years. John still has the magic and was making a rainy day by the pool fun for all that were there. We used him in 2001 for our wedding and had a blast. Most everyone that went said it was the funnest wedding they had ever been to. He brought props and games. We had a special guest that was a family friend dressed as a woman that came out as an “ex” girlfriend and John played along and as well as provide music to go along with the sentiment. Dude looks like a lady. Selecting John as your DJ will provide you with endless memories for yrs to come. We still talk about it all the time.

Fantastic!!

DJ John has been fantastic! My fiancé (at the time) and I had been looking for a top quality DJ for our wedding reception; John replied promptly from our first contact, and our experiences with Staar Entertainment flowed smoothly since. I was pleasantly surprised by DJ John's attention to detail per our requests, as well as his creativity in encouraging our guests to the dance floor. 5 stars for Staar Entertainment; I would recommend them to anyone.

Better than we could have ever hoped for. Thank You!!!

I just can't say enough because John went above and beyond and delivered on every aspect of our reception entertainment. From the lighting to the music and video, every part of our party was perfect. Our friends and family really like the live video screen that they could send pictures to throughout the party. The slideshow during dinner was amazing and I think at least half my family cried and it was really cool being able to include our friends and family in the entertainment by having pictures of them in the slideshow. When it comes down to it anyone can play some music, but John is a master MC, He played the right music at the right time, he was in tune with us and our guests, he was able to get all our friends and family out on the dance floor, which I didn't even think was possible, and throughout the reception he really did a great job making it a fun cohesive party that further bonded us with our guests with awesome memories of the reception that will last a lifetime. I didn't know how important the choice for a wedding DJ was until after we saw how John and his company delivered for us. This was leaps and bounds above what we've seen at any other wedding ever and truly made our reception the best. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Amazing & wonderful DJ - tied the whole party together!

Wedding DJ

Hired John Wendelken to DJ for my wedding. He went over every little detail with me, made me a full schedule for entertainment and played all music I requested. I even got so many compliments on how fantastic he was from the guests. Would definitely hire again!!!

Staar Entertainment exceeded our expectations from the first minute of planning through the very last song at our daughter's bat mitzvah! Good music and a fun dance party were very important to us and John was so fully committed to making sure it was everything our daughter wanted and more. He went out of his way to talk with us and with our daughter many times as we prepared for the big day! John and his staff were light-hearted, flexible, accommodating, and kind while providing very thorough customer service all the way through! John provided beautiful and colorful uplighting, which made the event so festive and the kids had such a blast with his games and the big screen! John also facilitated a beautiful candle-lighting. My wedding was FLAWLESS! John was the perfect man to choose to Emcee and DJ my wedding. Everything went on so smoothly and each transition was executed impeccably. He made everyone feel so welcome and allowed me to focus on being the bride - I knew he would take care of the rest and all I can say is WOW !!! John's professionalism and understanding of weddings and events was so helpful in planning the wedding, and I would often turn to him to help me make event decisions. He is so nice and personable and makes you feel like he's completely there for you. I live out of town and he met with me over weekends and took my late night phone calls and emails. In short, John was splendid, the music incredible, and John's topnotch understanding of how to deliver a great, fun event made me feel completely at ease, and I'll always remember how fun it was to know I didn't have to worry about anything and just dance the day away. I absolutely loved having them for a DJ. I had a small intimate wedding of 55 people and the DJ got everyone dancing! It is difficult to keep a party going and the event was perfect.

John and his team at STAAR ENTERTAINMENT were phenomenal. From the pre-planning to the day of, John knew exactly what was needed to make this event the best. He took every question and concern and made sure all our needs and requests were met. At the party the music and energy were non-stop and everyone is still raving about what a good time they had because of STAAR. I used John for my older son's bar mitzvah in 2015 after a friend recommended him. I was so impressed with him. I didn't even think about it when my twins had their b'nai mitzvah. We just told John to do his thing. I didn't have to worry about everyone being entertained. John knows exactly what the kids like as far as music and games. The dj is by far the most important part of the party and I promise your party will be a hit with John

We recently were married at Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater and John was excellent. Not only was he professional, but he was able to create a great atmosphere for the wedding party. I thought that the different generations of ages and the variety of music we needed might have been a challenge, but he made it a flawless transition throughout the evening. We had salsa, bachata, 80s and 90s music and the dance floor was packed. John was also able to help with our live entertainment (my dad was singing and so were our nieces). We can’t say enough about how wonderful he made our wedding day. All of our families were raving at how great the festivities were throughout the night!

Jerry was absolutely FANTASTIC and made my son's Bar Mitzvah the best party EVER! All of our guests complimented us on the after-party. There was a variety of music to appease all age groups and games for the kids (and some child-like adults). He and his assistant were easy to work with, kept us on track, and kept the party going. My wife Melissa and I met our wedding DJ as a referral from our wedding caterer Lynn Mollett. From the moment we met John Wendelken we loved his energy. John contacted us over the phone to set up our first interview at our venue, that first conversation was great, John was warm and really made us feel comfortable with his services as a DJ. Shortly thereafter we met John in person and he WOWed us! He had such a high energy and great passion that we had no doubt our wedding day would be what we dreamt it to be! John explained how he would help us with everything the day of, a timeline of events, special songs, making suggestions and being available to answer any questions we had leading up to our BIG day! Our wedding day finally arrived and John was TERRIFIC, everything ran smoothly and without stress with John running the show! John is highly organized and reads his audience, making excellent choices in song selections at just the right time. He made the day so enjoyable and memorable, he was so easy to work with, our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without John as our DJ. John DJ/MC'd my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. He made the whole event stress free and easy. He has so much experience that he was certainly able to make suggestions and come up with ideas that I would never have thought of. He will, of course, play whatever music/songs you want. Bat Mitzvah's require that you not only play music but can keep a bunch of kids entertained and involved. They all were as were the adults. I would definitely use his services again if I had an event and would highly recommend him.

Our DJ John was awesome !!!! He played all the songs we requested. Some of our family member are tuff to get up and moving and he got them up interacting and dancing. We as well as our guests had so much fun. I highly recommend staar entertainment and would choose them again for any other event we have.

John really showed out for the Harborside Activities Board! We were very impressed by both his professionalism and ability to get the party started! From the beginning to the event, John kept the dance floor flowing and the overall morale at an upbeat tempo. We want to personally thank him and his assistant for making Casino Night an unforgettable event for the entire University of South Florida St. Petersburg. HAB is happy to announce we will be booking him for all of our future DJ events.

I have worked with Staar Entertainment for a variety of community events and the DJ's are consistently outstanding. Since the events can attract several hundred residents, I need a DJ that can play great music as well as provide games to get everyone interacting and having fun. Staar Entertainment is top notch. They are professional to work with when setting up the event. They take the time to listen to my needs and go over the options. Most importantly they deliver what they say they will (and then some) the day of the event. They have exceeded my expectations and are my go-to source for DJ's.

I LOVE Staar Entertainment and have used them for over 15 years. They are always professional, on time, courteous and ready to entertain. They go above and beyond just playing music. We hired John and his team for two big parties in the past 2 years-one for our son's Bar Mitzvah and one for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah. One party was smaller, teen centered, with lots of games and less music. The other was more traditional with lots of music, dancing, and some games. He was exceptional at listening to our (and our teen's) input and structuring a party that would best fit the guests, the guest of honor's preferences, and generally knew what would keep the energy and flow going for the evening. I would highly recommend him for any event. In addition, the dancers he brought were phenomenal and even our older adults were enticed to join the dance floor and commented on how great the team was later.

Staar Entertainment was the perfect choice form my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. John was the absolute best!!! The entertainment was incredible and people were dancing the entire night. John is amazing to work with- flexible, detail oriented and makes sure both the child and parents are happy and all their needs are met during the party. The dancers he brought were incredible- high energy and engaged the guests all night. We are so thrilled with our decision to use Staar Entertainment. We have seen John at many events and every time he is great. I would recommend his team for any event!!!!

John our DJ was awesome. He was friendly, approachable, easy to talk to and professional. We had a small reception and he made it seem like there were 300 people there! He kept the audience interested and excited and added his own flare to everything. He kept the evening on track and was helpful in many ways, even things he very well have could have told us he was not responsible for. Thank you John for being great! My daughter's wedding would not have been the same without this wonderful DJ. It took me a long time to find him. I searched and interviewed many DJ's, I wanted the perfect one. I was going back and forth but my gut feeling, was...this is the guy! And boy! Was I right. He delivered a party we will never forget. I have been to many weddings since then, and none compare in quality, fun, and energy t what John had to offer. He is honest, no up-selling, and over delivered. Phil and I were happily married on Aril 4, 2014! We hit a few bumps along the way, but in the end it turned out perfect! What was supposed to be an elegant intimate evening reception aboard an 80’ private yacht, due to unforeseen circumstances (the owner canceled after taking full payment two months prior and a signed contract), we had to move the reception 2 weeks out from the wedding. The sunset and being on the water is really important to us, so we opted for the Hyatt Clearwater Beach Sky Terrace, overlooking both the intercoastal and the Gulf. The sunset is a very important part of our journey: We watched the sunset on their first date and Phil proposed to me at sunset on our boat among other cherished memories. We would like to say Thank You to John Wendelken. From the first meeting; he was friendly, accommodating, and eager to provide guidance. Phil and I never planned a wedding reception before. Butler passed hors d’oeuvre, ice sculpture, dancing and cocktails for 35 of our closest family and friends meant everything to us. John had a plan from scaling down his DJ space to speakers around the yacht. Together we decided the music and scheduled the special events such as cake cutting and first dances. When the yacht canceled, John assured us that no matter what, he would help us, work directly with the wedding planner and everything would be perfect. To our surprise John setup the reception with disco lights for the evening. The music was synchronized nicely with lights for special dances. There were fireworks over the intercoastal behind the DJ stage which I still think John set up. The evening went into a full dance mode with everyone on the dance floor. John stayed an extra hour to keep the reception later, no one wanted to leave at 11:00pm. Our friends and family told us afterward that our reception was the most fun they ever had at a wedding. Phil and I totally agreed. John made our wedding perfect! We recommend John for any event.

We first met DJ John when he was the DJ at a friend’s wedding. Everything about this party was fun, but done in a way that was classy while accommodating the kids and the older guests. We picked John to Emcee our wedding because we demanded our DJ be intelligent and articulate but when it is time to party he knows what to do and what songs to play. We live in Atlanta, but had to have John travel to Georgia to help us create the best wedding celebration possible. John did an awesome job! I keep hearing from everyone how much fun they had. John is a classy, educated professional who understood what we meant when we said the reception had to be upscale, elegant and fun. Our friends and family don’t typically dance much, but John kept the dance floor packed the whole night with fun ways to inspire people to celebrate. Thanks John!

DJ Danny helped create a fun and memorable Bar Mitzvah party for my son! We received so many compliments on the music choices, activities, and energy level provided by Danny. DJ John is a truly respectful and enthusiastic DJ we were lucky enough to meet. He's flexible and very professional. My husband and I are african by origin and we were a little worried about how the ambiance was going to be, giving that we have people coming from Africa and lots of friends also here in the US attending the wedding. First we wanted to hire 2 DJs, 1 African and DJ John. DJ John accepted without problem to collaborate with the African DJ and even let's him use his equipments. Although, after that one meeting with DJ John, we knew he's a master and he'll do an amazing job. We trusted him with the music and he was the only DJ we ended up hiring for our wedding day. We had over 9 hours of dancing and DJ John kept us entertained to the end. The music was great variety, the sounds were impeccable although we were in this extremely big ballroom, and that gigantic video screen with pictures of us showing was just an amazing addition. DJ John is very open to cultural diversity and overall, the entertainment surpassed our expectations. We were blessed to have chosen you as our DJ and from now on, you are our # 1 preferred DJ. People, do not hesitate to choose DJ John as at any given time, you'll not be deceived- I guarantee it!

Staar Entertainment provided DJ services for my daughters sweet sixteen birthday party. They did a great job! Sixteen year old girls are hard to be influenced to get up and have a good time. But John and Dax got them up and dancing and involved in the party games. The night turned out to be so much fun! Everybody is still talking about Jessica's birthday party. Thanks John.

We have been to many weddings over the years and have seen many DJs that were not what we wanted for our wedding. We picked John because he was passionate about taking our wedding to another level. John definitely delivered! Our guests are still telling us how elegant and fun our wedding was! John did a great job helping us put together our slide show and presenting it on the big screens. During the party, he put live video camera shots of everyone dancing and having fun and they loved it. Gobo, uplights, confetti. Everything that he suggested worked great! We loved him!

I got married a little more than a year ago and had a great experience with John. He listened to just what my husband and I wanted (and didn't want) and helped guide us with music choices. He took the time to get to know us and and with that, he nailed the music selection on our wedding night. He is extremely professional and down to earth. I just recently attended a friend's wedding and was not surprised to see John getting everyone out on the dance floor. Jerry was the perfect fit for our wedding seeing that I love R&B 90's music and my partner loves latin music. Some how Jerry was able to pull off our crazy mix of music. John at Staar entertainment completely made our wedding night! This was the one aspect of our wedding that we were most concerned with as we wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and dance. John made that happen and everyone (even grandma) danced the night away. He played music that was appropriate for everyone at the wedding, yet still created an amazingly fun atmosphere. There wasn't a single gap in dancing nor did he have to play any line dancing songs to get people back on the dance floor. His music choice was superb. We have had multiple friends tell us that our wedding was the party of the year and everyone had a great time. In addition, John takes the time before the wedding to go over all the details and even met with us in person to discuss the logistics of the wedding. He gives you 100% and arrives early to make sure nothing goes wrong.

We had John at our wedding! He was the centerpiece of our reception and he made sure everyone had a great time! We had a lot of demands and he listened to and met every one of them. We could tell he really made the party about us and what's more everyone at the party had such a great time and had nothing but good things to say about him. My wife and I would recommend John anytime. He is a great DJ, he kept everything very lively and the dance floor was packed. John couldn't have been more friendly, attentive or helpful than he was. Just a joy to work with. Dax (the DJ who was there that night) was energetic, friendly and great at engaging the kids. We made some last-minute changes, and he was completely flexible and accommodating. Just great.

John came highly recommended to me from friends and I had the opportunity to observe him at several bar and bat mitzvahs before selecting him for my son's party, so I knew how good he was at making the party a blast and getting people into the spirit (bar mitzvahs have to be very challenging for DJs because you have to cater to the young and old, though I know people who have seen him at weddings and have similar praise). What I didnt know about John was how responsive and professional he is. He really makes you feel like you are a VIP client and your event is the most important on his calendar, without charging ridiculous prices for the service he gives. He does introductions like no one I have ever seen and will literally play everything you ask, no matter how obscure the request. He has been doing this a long time, but tailors his presentation to what you really want. My guests all came up to me after the event and asked me "where did you find the DJ? He was awesome!" I will definitely use him again and would highly, highly recommend Staar Entertainment for any type of event (and trust me, I am not easily impressed)!
