Mel was so wonderful on our wedding day! Mel made me and my husband feel so at ease during the whole process and always made sure she was available when we needed to ask questions or had any concerns. On the day of our wedding, Mel was very professional and handled putting out small fires with ease. She truly was so wonderful and I highly recommend her services :) -

My daughter recently got married and Mel was our rock. She was on top of everything but never made us feel like she was taking over. She listened to what the bride and groom wanted and made it all happen. Having never hired a wedding coordinator before, we didn't realize she could do so much for us! Whenever we would mention, "Oh yes, we are going to take care of that." , Mel would reply, "I can do that for you if you would like!" While she listened to our ideas and requests, she would offer up tips and advice when asked, using her years of experience to help my daughter's special day run seamlessly! After going through this experience, I know how important it is to make sure all your bases are covered and to feel secure in knowing you have done just that. This is exactly why I wanted to share our experience with Mel. We had over 200 guests at the wedding, and Mel didn't blink! Thank you again, Mel! -

Mel is the most wonderful person I could’ve hired for my wedding. She went above and beyond and honestly deserved so much more than she asked for payment. She made sure we had the best day regardless of anything that could’ve happened or any hiccups that got in our way. She didn’t care how much we were in contact and she was 100% there for us as a friend also. I recommend Mel to anyone looking to plan a wedding or event who wants someone who CARES!!! She does what she loves and she does it with grace. Couldn’t be happier, not enough stars exist to rate our experience -

Mel is simply incredible! I got married on Ocean Isle Beach, and it was expected to rain for the entire day. Mel made me feel so calm and collected about it all. We rehearsed under the gazebo the night before, and somehow it was a beautiful and sunny day the next day. She quickly adjusted and we were able to have the wedding of our dreams because of all her hard work. She knows the area vendors so well and will do all the behind scene work for you! My family didn't have to lift a finger with decorating or breaking down. Do yourself a favor and book Mel. She will bring your dreams to life and SO much more! -

AMAZING! I could not be happier
Mel and her assistant Shameka are AMAZING! I was very nervous that my big day would not go how I wanted it, I don't know why, but I was just very stressed because I had everything planned a certain way. I was actually going to just do the whole thing myself, but I AM SO GLAD I hired Mel for my day-of-coordinator. She made everything perfect! I would recommend 100%! THANK YOU! -

I got married May 14, 2022! I am from Cleveland, OH, but my family has been vacationing in Sunset Beach for over 40 years; my husband and I quickly decided that was the perfect destination for our wedding. Needless to say I was nervous how I was going to plan a NC wedding from OH but Mel put my mind at ease right away.
Last May we met with Mel and I knew right away she was the wedding planner for me; her calm demeanor, knowledge of vendors in the area, sense of humor and responsiveness stood out right away. After we met we immediately got to planning! Mel and Shameka were amazing from start to finish. Mel saw my vision and made it come to life, she recommended all of the vendors we used and they were all nothing short of perfect!
Mel and Shameka were very responsive throughout the year of planning; whether it was emails back and forth, Zoom calls, or setting up meetings with vendors.
On the day of Mel and Shameka got right to work setting up everything (tables, chairs, decorations, etc.) it was hard to imagine how all of the different pieces would come together, but as soon as I saw everything it was as if the picture I had in my head came to life.
Our day was perfect and I have Special Days Weddings and Events to thank for it. My husband and I both say it was the best day of our lives. -

There aren't enough words to describe how thankful I am that I chose Mel to be my day-of wedding coordinator. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, she was so easy to work with and was always there to answer every question we had. There were so many aspects of wedding planning that I would have never even thought of by myself. But thanks to Mel, every little detail was discussed and taken care of. She completely understood how I envisioned my wedding to look and pulled it off flawlessly. On the big day, everything went so smoothly and it was exactly what I had always hoped for. I know for a fact that none of that would have been possible without enlisting Mel's help. -

I am married now for three weeks ... I should say that my wedding day was absolutely perfect! Beautiful venue on the beach, flowers, food, my hair & makeup, ceremony , toasts and happy faces of our family and friends- all this were fruits of loving labor of our wedding planner, Mel O'Daniels ( Special Days Events).
Mel is an army! You hire one person and she brings whole team with her...Mel takes all your worries away, calms you down and holds your hand from the day you sign a contract with her till you say: I DO!
She has personal touch, wonderful taste, sharp proactive mind and connections- all that assures your wedding a success! Finding her was a gift from above !

Julia Sent on 09/12/2018We cannot express how ecstatic we were with Mel and her team at Special Days. My mom met Mel at a bridal expo and as soon as she reached out to us, we knew she was the one. Planning a wedding in North Carolina while living in California is not an easy task and we really had to find a person we could trust to execute our ideal wedding.
We let Mel know what our vision was and she went to work. We wanted a wedding at the beach in a house that we could also stay in for the week of the wedding. Mel found us the most perfect house, the Memory Maker in Ocean Isle Beach. We wanted a low country boil. Mel found us a delicious caterer, Costal Catering. We wanted specific flower arrangements. Mel found the right florist, Calabash florist, and built a beautiful arbor for us to get married under on the beach. We wanted perfect weather. Mel made sure that the weather was perfect and the moon was full :-) !!!!!!
You get the picture and speaking of pictures, Darlene, at Timeless Memories was also a dream to work with. We could not have done this without Mel. She works with a great team and they were on top of everything making sure we had no worries on our big day. She dealt with the typical wedding guest drama with ease. Very professional and organized. Can't recommend her enough! -

Sarah Sent on 08/06/2018Mel was absolutely AMAZING! I can honestly say I don't know what we would have done without her. She executed every single aspect of my dream day absolutely PERFECTLY! She was supportive and also realistic, and encouraged me to not stray from what I wanted. She thought of every single detail, was very responsive, and willing to do whatever she could to facilitate things. The wedding day was absolutely stress-free and it was definitely all attributable to her! I can't recommend Mel enough - she works with great vendors, has a ton of experience and it definitely shows. I received so many compliments from guests that they had never been to a wedding that went as perfectly and smoothly as ours. She was absolutely awesome to work with!!! We had her full wedding planning service and without a doubt it was worth every penny and more! Mel is awesome and our day would not have been the same without her, I can't even express how grateful I am and how happy I am with her services and how perfect everything turned out!! She made sure our wedding was exactly as we wanted it and worked her butt off to make it happen! She made sure we were not affected by any issues that arose and totally handled them so we were not stressed by anything. Cannot say enough good things about Mel!!!

As the mother-of-the bride, I wanted to hire a wedding planner so that I would be able to relax and enjoy the event without worrying about the details. Everything went beautifully, and it was such a comfort knowing that if anything went wrong, Mel was going to be there to take care of it. Mel quickly picked up on my daughter's vision for her wedding and contributed great ideas and guidance without stepping on my daughter's toes. She worked super hard to make my daughter's dream a reality. In addition, the vendors she recommended were top notch.

My daughter did not live in the area and Mel kept her in the loop and very happy. Her detail to making everything perfect for my daughters wedding can not be under estimated. She is thoughtful of all the parties involved and very knowledgeable. As the mother of the bride she was extremely helpful. The wedding was wonderfully planned and went smoothly. Her recommendations for a photographer and flowers were the best as well. It is without hesitation that I write this review. You won’t regret using her and her expertise. Mel went above and beyond to ensure all details were in place and took the stress off my shoulders! She was personable, fun and super accommodating!! We had a very positive experience with this vendor. The vision of our event was well executed.
Mel and her crew made our wedding night!!! She seamlessly change the scenery as the night progressed, making sure what was needed was there and what needed to go was removed. Managed all of the monumental moments of the day to try and keep us on time, without missing a beat. She always had a smile and genuinely cared about making our event “Ours”, especially among these trying times of the pandemic. Thank You Mel and crew!!! -

Great wedding planner for OIB
I had a backyard wedding, and had a chef and cake maker chosen before going with Mel, so she helped coordinate decorating for the day and did coordinate one of her local vendors for my hair and make-up. The bartenders were AWESOME and everyone enjoyed themselves at the event! -

3.5 out of 5 stars. My wedding/reception came together very lovely but I felt I had to triple check a lot of things and a few things still fell through the cracks. The wedding planner had one of her friends make a custom arbor for us which I thought was very nice, and she rented it to us for only $150. She's been doing this for many years and knows the coastal vendors really well but we were disappointed with a few of her recommendations. I would recommend this planner for a few reasons - good price, many vendor connections, easy to get in touch with.
