If your thinking about booking with Southern Skies, just do it! You will have NO regrets. My husband and I were lucky enough to be paired with Laura and I truly could not have imagined the day (and all the days leading up )without her. Laura went above and beyond to make sure all our questions were answered and asked questions to other vendors we didn't even know to ask. Our wedding day was absolutely stress free and that was all because of Laura's hard work, patience and understanding. It is bittersweet writing this review because I already miss Laura and her radiant energy... so if your'e going back and forth about booking, PLEASE DO.. I sincerely would not have had the amazing day I had without Southern Skies and especially Laura. -

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Laura for our wedding, and she was a true God send for us! We moved to Arkansas ~10 months before our wedding in NC, so planning a wedding from several states away added an extra level of stress. However, working with Laura immediately put us at ease, and she made us feel confident that everything was under control. She was patient and kind no matter how many questions we asked. She was extremely detail-oriented and thought of every small task/decision that needed to be completed. On our wedding day, we were able to be fully present because we knew she had everything under control. The day flowed perfectly and we stayed ahead of schedule. It truly was a perfect day, and we know it wouldn’t have happened without Laura. We are so grateful we got matched with her and recommend her over and over again! -

Wedding planner 10/10!!
Adrianne was amazing! She was always available to discuss details or silly questions I may have had. On the day of she was quick and adaptive. She offered me to wear her wedding veil, and have her husband drive 45mins to drop it off, after I found out less than 3hours from our ceremony start time that we left my veil in another state! She made sure all of our little details were executed and helped me stay calm in the chaos during our big day! We would highly suggest Southern Skies and Adrianne. -

I can't believe I ever considered not having a wedding planner! Southern Skies was the absolute best to work with. They were flexible, super quick with communication, creative and able to work with some unique requests. I could not imagine my wedding day without Laura! She is the reason the day went so smoothly, everyone knew where to be and when. I seriously did not have to lift a finger the entire day because she took care of absolutely everything. During the wedding she hand delivered food and drinks to my husband and I while we were wrapped up in conversation. She was super friendly, easy to work with and confident in what she does! Seriously could not recommend this team enough!! -

We had the pleasure of working with Laura to plan our wedding at The Oaks at Salem and truly can't recommend her enough! She was incredibly organized, responsive, and a thoughtful sounding board throughout the planning process. On our wedding day, she made sure everything ran smoothly, from setting up decor to coordinating with our vendors and checking in on me and the bridal party as we got ready. She even captured photos and videos that were so special to receive right after the wedding. Thanks to Laura, we were able to fully relax and enjoy every moment! -

We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding planner than Laura from Southern Skies Events. From the very beginning of our planning journey to the big day itself, Laura was nothing short of amazing. She was always kind and welcoming, incredibly responsive and she answered every question we had with patience and expertise.
Laura’s deep knowledge of The Oaks venue was evident, and it was clear she knew exactly what and where our ideas would look best, such as our cornhole boards guestbook and popcorn bar. This gave us immense confidence and peace of mind, knowing we could trust her judgment. The venue itself is stunning, but having Laura and the fantastic team from Southern Skies made our wedding experience truly exceptional.
Throughout the entire planning process, Laura was detailed and organized, which was a huge relief for my bride brain. Her meticulous attention to detail ensured that everything went smoothly, allowing me to fully enjoy every moment of our special day without any stress at all! One of the many thoughtful touches was when she brought us hors d’oeuvres while we were taking pictures after the ceremony during cocktail hour – a small gesture that made a big difference.

Laura and her team at Southern Skies are exceptional!
We cannot thank Laura enough for the incredible way she helped plan our wedding, from our first encounter to our sparkler exit!
Laura is highly competent, detailed, and effective. But even more incredible was her amazing kindness, patience, and emotional intelligence. She dealt with some uncomfortable family dynamics in an exceptionally elegant way, and she was so understanding and compassionate when I struggled to decide whether to switch to our rain plan day of. Rather than push her view, she kindly gave me space to discuss it with a family member.
If you are meticulously detail-oriented and struggle with trust and delegation, she is for you. The moment we raised a concern, she handled it. We never had to ask about things twice. And when I showed up on our wedding day with a box of stuff to set out (bar decorations, etc.) with pretty meager directions, she laid it out perfectly.
On our wedding day, she handled a huge pivot seamlessly. When it rained, she moved our rented grand piano and spots for 200 guests all under the tent from the courtyard where we had originally planned to tie the knot. Every concern that we had the day of, she addressed quickly, subtly, and with excellence. For example, when I felt that there was a miscommunication with one of the vendors during the wedding, she talked with them to help them pivot to meet our expectations.
Finally, at the end of the night, she packed our getaway car and sent us off with lovingly packed hors d’œuvres. Wow! A class act! -

We had Laura for our coordinator and she was a dream! She was able to bring up questions neither of us even thought of and troubleshoot any possible issues! The day of, she checked up on us both multiple times to make sure we were good to go and was able to have the day of our dreams. I couldn't have asked for anything better. We enjoyed getting to know her and would definitely recommend her for any future brides/grooms. She knows her stuff and were thankful to have her guidance during our planning process. -

Southern Skies Events exceeded our expectations in so many ways. From day one of contact Jennifer and her team were so responsive. Returning email and phone calls quickly. They handled all commutation between the vendors and us, which was very important as all parties on our end were from out of town.
I wish I could give you one thing that stands out that they went above and beyond but I can’t because everything they did was above and beyond our expiations. I would highly recommend Southern Skies to everyone who is looking for an event planner! -

We found Southern Skies through a friend’s recommendation and we couldn’t have been happier. We worked with Jen and her assistant Laura. They designed a beautiful wedding full of personal details that we never would have thought of - like having a gelato cart for dessert as a nod to Rome, where we met. Jen was very communicative throughout the entire planning process with e-mail updates, answering our questions, and having virtual and in-person meetings. We were planning remotely and could not have pulled this off without Jen and her team. They helped connect us with our fantastic team of vendors, many of whom we probably would not have found without their help. Jen’s thorough planning and hard work made the actual wedding day stress-free and absolutely perfect. We would highly recommend using Southern Skies! -

Laura B. was absolutely incredible! From our first meeting, we knew we were in good hands. Laura had solutions for any problems we were worried about and some we hadn't even considered. It was such a relief to have her before and during the wedding! We can't thank her enough! Anyone who works with her is sure to be happy!

We absolutely loved working with Laura at Southern Skies Events for our July 2023 wedding! She helped us navigate the wedding day so wonderfully, even when rain dampened our ceremony and put us behind schedule. We really appreciated her expertise! She understood our vision for the wedding day and was so helpful with every little detail! I had my heart set on an outdoor ceremony, and Laura did everything she could to make that happen. When rain started out of nowhere during our ceremony, she whipped out clear umbrellas for us an our parents! Our wedding day would not have run as smoothly without her. We highly recommend Southern Skies Events, especially Laura B.! -

Laura was our wedding coordinator for our wedding at The Oaks at Salem on November 19th, and she was an absolute delight! She helped us stay on schedule with our planning, and provided great insight and ideas that we hadn't even thought of that ended up being used on our day. Our rehearsal went by without a hitch, and Laura was so sweet and welcoming to our whole party, it felt like we had known her for the whole process and not for just the final few months!
Even when we had delays on our wedding day, you would have never known with how smoothly the day ended up going. Laura even took some behind the scenes footage and made the cutest instagram reel for us and sent us the photos (like the one attached -

We had the pleasure of working with Laura during our season of wedding planning and she was the best. She responded to any questions or concerns I had very quickly. The day of the wedding, she made sure everything went exactly how I wanted it to go, and if there were any hiccups, I didn’t know anything about it (which is exactly what i wanted; the bride has no time to worry about anything the day of). I had a few people ask me post wedding if there was anything I would have changed and my answer was always “No”. The day was perfect and I couldn’t have imagined it to go any better and a lot of that was because of Laura! -

First and foremost, a HUGE shoutout to Laura Baumbach! She was our Event Planner and went above and beyond with all of our needs, was quick and responsive, constantly checked in on everyone, was great to work with and made SURE that any and all questions anyone had (guests, bridal / groom party, staff, etc.) all went to her only!
She was super efficient and an EXCELLENT problem solver! We were astounded by the attention to detail she had in ensuring our wedding went well despite the rehearsal being the day of the wedding and even when a few of the wedding party arrived late. We felt like a huge weight was lifted off of our shoulders, and she did a great job taking control of the event with flying colors!
Secondly, the venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Everything was spotless, and the staff were very nice and attentive. Guests gave tons of compliments on the venue! The tent was GORGEOUS, as well as the view by the lake, and the golf cart escorts from the wedding to the reception were stellar! Staff also did a great job allowing us to do our unique vow ceremony using paint and easel (totally the idea of my amazing wife), and made sure we made adjustments for an extra dance performance as well as a surprise for the bride.
IF I had to be super picky, the only one "critique" I'd probably have for future events at this venue is to somehow make sure that there is a live microphone available for people to give their speeches during the reception under the tent (or maybe something that could be looked over in the wedding planning phase). Not a huge deal, but since the DJ could be hooked up to the speakers of the venue, it would be awesome to also allow a mic to access them as well when the time is appropriate! It wasn't a necessity, however, and the setting and vibe was intimate enough that it wasn't a big deal at all.
Empire Eats was our choice for catering in the venue and the food was super tasty and spritzers for refreshments by a different vendor. We also were able to bring our own non-alcoholic drinks for our guests, and they did a great job making accommodations for it!
Overall, it was an amazing experience we'll never forget. I highly recommend them to anyone planning on getting married here, and also HIGHLY recommend getting Laura to do your wedding planning. All in all, great job once again to the staff and wedding planners and caterers, and thanks again for making this once in a lifetime experience an incredibly positive one! -

Incredible!
Wedding planning can be so stressful, but Laura was always so quick to respond, offered helpful advice, and stayed extremely organized throughout the entire planning process. Then, throughout the wedding day, she could not have been better! Her timeline was perfect and all of her behind the scenes maneuvering did not go unnoticed! She is kind, thoughtful, and so easy to work with! We are so grateful for all she did to make our wedding day absolutely perfect! Thank you, Laura!!! -

Oh my gosh. I don't know what I was expecting from Southern Skies, but what I didn't expect was this to be the single most critical piece in this day going off without a hitch. Lauren (THE BEST IN THE WORLD!) met with us regularly prior to the event, had deep discussions about our concerns and hopes, invested in our wedding and the guests, and was honestly like a sister day-of who knew everyone there and all their intricacies. I do not know what would have happened if we didn't have Lauren. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm left with amazing memories, no regrets, and appreciation more than I can express. Lauren, thank you for not just doing an amazing job, but doing it with heart, focus, genuine caring, and all-around amazingness. Southern Skies is the BEST choice a bride could make. -

Hiring Jen and her team was probably the best decision we made regarding our wedding. Not only did she help us keep on top of everything during the planning process (which included a lot more than we had expected), but she was super fun to work with. I was able to enjoy the process a lot more knowing what I needed to work on and what needed done in the next month. Southern Skies Events far exceeded my expectations of what a wedding planner could do for my fiancé and I while staying well within our budget. I truly have 0 complaints or apprehensions regarding Southern Skies. Jen was AMAZING. We went back and forth between having our originally planned 200 person wedding this September, to postponing, to ultimately a small ceremony in our backyard bc of COVID and Jen helped me navigate through all of it. She was amazing with all of her resources and helped re-plan an entirely new event in about 2 months. She was so easy to get ahold of and reached out many times going above and beyond to make everything so stress-free. There's always things you think of later that if you could do over you'd change but choosing Jen & Southern Skies is not one of them! Loved working with her and cannot recommend her enough! -

We used Jen from Southern Skies as our day of wedding coordinator, and it was one of the best decisions we made throughout our entire wedding planning process. Jen is organized, professional, responsive, a pleasure to work with, and keeps everyone calm throughout the entire process. I have been wanting to right this review sooner, but I was struggling to find the right words to express just how incredibly grateful I am to have worked with Laura, from Southern Skies. Laura was truly exceptional. She is such a kind and lovely lady. So professional and so experienced. We really couldn’t have asked for a better planner. She very much supported our vision and did everything she could to ensure that the day ran smoothly and that all of our needs were met.
Laura helped with some of the decision making when I was struggling; she did not take over, she guided me and helped to identify and put in place the best solution. When I had dozens of questions, Laura was there to answer every one of them. She was very patient with me and very supportive and kind.
Laura is highly competent and very experienced. She was understanding and compassionate when it came to sensitive situations. She did not put any pressure on us; the whole time, she made sure we were happy, and that our voices were being heard. On the day of our wedding, Laura made sure that both my husband and I had everything we needed; whilst ensuring that things were running smoothly leading up to the ceremony, making sure the vendors, guests, and family members were all being taken care of too. Any concerns that we had, Laura addressed quickly and discreetly. Throughout the night, Laura was frequently checking on us, without being intrusive or interrupting. Everything came together seamlessly thanks to Laura’s hard work, dedication and compassion.
It was truly a pleasure to work with Laura, she most definitely played a huge and very valuable role in our wedding, and we have so much to thank her for.
She was a friend from day one. Our wedding day may be over, but we definitely hope to keep in touch with Laura. She played such a pivotal role and we will forever be grateful for all of her support. -
