What a WONDERFUL wedding caterer. When we booked our wedding, we knew we wanted to serve yummy but casual food, and it was a dream come true to be able to serve Original Q Shack barbecue through Southern Harvest.
We absolutely loved the staff — Rachelle and Lisa made every dream come true. It was an INCREDIBLE value for what we paid, and we were able to feed 138 people plus vendors in under 45 minutes, with plenty of food for second helpings. No one went hungry. Every single person I saw that night and afterward told me: "That food was AMAZING." And I can honestly say I have never heard people rave about the food at a wedding that much.
You know how people say to the married couple, you always forget to eat on your wedding day? We did NOT forget to eat — in fact, I was stuffed, and I remember every single bite. It was that good.
Lisa was an invaluable partner in the planning process, and we just adore her and are so grateful to the whole Southern Harvest team. -

After months of searching for the right wedding caterer, we found Southern Harvest! They were very responsive to any questions or modifications we needed to make during the planning phase. The one negative was that our vegetarian entree option was not as good the day-of as during the taste testing; but the professionalism of the staff and our LOADED plates at our sweetheart table were enough to counter that. -

My now husband and I were so happy to have found Southern Harvest. Great food, wide selection to choose from, and wonderful customer service. Natalie was my point of contact through the planning process and she was so kind and helpful. From the tasting, to the day-of meals and appetizers, Southern Harvest left us so impressed. A huge thank you to everyone at Southern Harvest that helped out with our special day, everyone we met was so amazing and sweet and I absolutely recommend. -

Because of their partnership with our venue, we initially selected Southern Harvest for the discount and convenience. However, we were blown away by how fantastic everything was! Rachelle was so friendly and helpful as we worked with our menu and our budget. We did chicken breast and brisket and both options were fantastic! We also had pre purchased beer/wine served through them and they were very flexible with some specific requests we had. I appreciated that they seemed to value our experience over dollar signs. Would absolutely look to hire them again for future events!
Another note: We had prepurchased beer/wine and somehow had started running out FAST. During cocktail hour, they came to let us know and gave us the option of moving to consumption with beer/wine they had available. Southern Harvest Catering helped to coordinate catering for our wedding this past weekend and it was amazing. Food was incredible, bar service was great, Rachelle was super communicative and the serving and wait staff did an incredible job. We had our tasting with Tom at Southern Harvest and would recommend them to anyone. From the moment we sat down, he shared the goal was for us to have a wonderful date as he served the options we had chosen for the tasting. The food was AMAZING. We could not decide which was best and are even contemplating having them cater our rehearsal, too, because of the quality of food they offer by a great company. Working with Southern Harvest is the best decision I made for our wedding.
Our tasting was my absolute favorite part of wedding planning. We were given the experience of an intimate date night, all while trying the most incredible food. Tom and Rachelle helped us tailor our menu to be able to include all the things we wanted and still satisfy different dietary needs of guests.
On the actual wedding day, service was smooth and efficient. My husband and I were checked in on throughout the cocktail hour, dinner, and evening, to be sure we were well fed and had all that we needed. We were also packed a separate meal to be able to eat back at our hotel since the chaos of a wedding can leave so many couples from eating.
I would recommend Southern Harvest over and over again and look forward to the opportunity to work with them in the future. -

Southern Harvest catered our wedding and we were so happy with them! They provided the food, dessert, and bar service and everything was amazing. We got so many compliments on how good the food and desserts were. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Rachelle was especially amazing! I don't know how if words can even describe how thankful I am for Tom and his team at Southern Harvest. Tom was so beyond personable and organized, I was so appreciative of him every time we spoke. Not only were they flexible with my wedding date being rescheduled TWICE, but also jumped in to help 4 weeks before our wedding for our rehearsal dinner when our original plans had to change. Then, 2 weeks after that I found out I had to be gluten free, and they made me my own personal plates! On wedding weekend, Lisa went above and beyond. She was not only so so kind and welcoming, but also so very helpful. We will never need another catering company as long as we live in the Raleigh area!Southern Harvest Catering Company's reply:

Before I met Rachelle, I was nervous about booking a bartender. We were on a tight wedding budget and I had no idea how the bar was supposed to work. Rachelle explained everything on the phone and over emails, outlining all our options. I'm so grateful she was patient with me because my future mother in law had about as many questions as I did!
We figured out an arrangement that worked for our guest list, then COVID hit and we downsized from 100 to 8 people. That definitely changed our bar budget and Rachelle was quick to contact me and make different arrangements. When I felt most overwhelmed by the state of the world and the upheaval of all our wedding plans, she made it feel easy to adjust what we'd need for our new guest list.
It ended up being one of the most budget-friendly parts of our wedding planning experience! I was also super impressed by the beer and wine selections they had for the reception. My father in law is preferential to IPAs, while my father is a strict Sam Adams Boston Lager guy. She provided both and then some, plus wine options that were the perfect mix of dry/middle ground selections. Their picks were so on point, my mom even had a drink or two and I've only ever seen her enjoy a few sips of champagne on New Year's Eve!
Rachelle was wonderful to work with and completely understanding of all the changes we had to make nearly last-minute. We're so glad we connected with her and any bride who does the same in the future will as well!Southern Harvest Catering Company's reply:

Southern Harvest was a key part in making our wedding day truly magical. Tom and Lisa are rock stars. I know part of the reason they loved us was because we were getting married on a goat farm, but it went a lot deeper than that. We loved being around Tom and Lisa, and we felt like they were as excited about our wedding as we were! (Which, let's be honest, is pretty rare). They put so much love and effort into our wedding. We had multiple meetings and tastings with them to perfect our menu. They were easily available for any questions or calls. They came to our venue to figure out logistics closer to the wedding date. The food blew us and our guests away, and the presentation exceeded our expectations. The other staff were so helpful and friendly. Tom and Lisa were there on the wedding day too! Lisa checked in on us many times to see if we needed anything. They're not phoning it in, they really care, and we were so lucky to have them.Southern Harvest Catering Company's reply:

Tom, Lisa, and the entire Southern Harvest Team truly treated us like family from the moment we met them and constantly went above and beyond to make sure every single aspect of our wedding menu was perfectly tailored to our vision and budget. Tom arranged for us to attend MULTIPLE private tastings and was extremely helpful in offering up suggestions about what kinds of dishes/setup would work best for our venue and guest count. With his help, we selected a southern/local menu that guests absolutely RAVED about. On the day of the wedding, the entire Southern Harvest team treated my partner and I like royalty, frequently checking on us to make sure we had drinks and food and making sure that we were being completely taken care of. They even personally served us at the beginning of dinner so we wouldn’t have to go through the buffet line and packaged up to-go boxes for us so we’d have dinner for the next day. Several guests remarked on the Southern Harvest team’s warmth and hospitality, so I know our guests were also treated to an evening of amazing service. By choosing to work with Southern Harvest, we literally saved THOUSANDS of dollars (compared to what we would have spent if we had gone with one of the bigger catering companies in the triangle area), but the quality AND presentation of food, service, and professionalism could not have been topped. It was such an honor to have a catering team who made us feel so cared for and celebrated. Seriously, hire these folks! We used Southern Harvest catering for our wedding on 12.08.18. The whole team on the wedding day were amazing. We worked with Fallon for a majority of the planning time and she was awesome! She came with me for a walk through at the venue and really made sure we had things set to go for the big day and was easy to get in contact with. We did a buffet and the food was delicious! They also served Daniel and I so that we didn't have to do anything that night which was so nice! Highly recommend!! Thanks again for making our day so special! -

Falon and her team were amazing to work with for our rehearsal dinner. She communicated amazingly in the weeks leading up to our wedding. The food arrived one time and was hot and delicious and very much fit our down-home country BBQ theme for the rehearsal dinner. Our biggest regret for the wedding? Not hiring her team to cater the wedding too! They were a dream to work with and met our expectation perfectly.Southern Harvest Catering Company's reply:

Off site catering food isn't always easy to find when you want a quality product that holds and tastes amazing, but we found it with Southern Harvest! Falon was great to work with, organized and knowledgeable. She made sure the service team had every piece of information they needed so I (the bride) didn't have to worry with anything! We had stations and everything was set up picture perfect and OMG the food was so good! Our venue is newer and the owners wanted Southern Harvest contact information because they said it was the best food they have had there yet, plus they were so amazed at how organized the service was!
We wanted to serve two courses that were not part of their menu and the owner and Chef was more than happy to create for us and I'll say it again, their creation was amazing! And he was excited to do it, you can tell food is his passion! I have been in the hospitality industry for 15 years including food and beverage and this company is one I would highly recommend! Under promised and over delivered in every way, including the day of the wedding, which happened to take place during a hurricane. They were unphased, and brought their A game. -

We added Southern Harvest to our wedding as a last minute add for a small wedding about 2 months before the date. They were super helpful with walking us through their menu and getting a quick quote so that we could be booked for our date. At the wedding, our guests could not stop raving not only about the food, but the service of Southern Harvest! The plated meal added such a nice touch to our ceremony and we could not have done it without their help. Would most definitely recommend! -

John Sent on 07/17/2022Somehow the most stressful part of the planning process
Let me first start by saying that the food, the wait staff, and the culinary team are top notch. The appetizers were delicious, and dinner was excellent. Would absolutely recommend them to anyone who asked. If I could separately give them 5 stars, I would. 10/5 would hire them again.
However, the wonderful food and staff were very nearly overshadowed by the absolute dental work that went into getting administration to communicate with us. Three months after we sent in our final menu choices, we hadn't heard anything. We consistently had to keep after Rachelle for any kind of timely response. Two weeks before the wedding, we still hadn't received our final contract, after multiple requests. We stayed ahead of the curve with deadlines, but what should have been a relatively simple process was somehow one of the largest sources of stress in the entire planning process, especially in the last weeks leading up to the wedding.
On top of that, having paid for an open bar, we were very surprised that having barely been open an hour, the bar had already started to run out of options. Even worse, while they had our two signature cocktail choices, that was all they had in the way of mixed drink options, and refused to deviate from those two cocktail recipes. They would not even hear of playing with what little ingredients they had. The bartenders were friendly, and did their jobs with relative ease, but I wonder exactly what management told them, based on how the bar itself was run. At the very least, it should have been communicated clearly what Southern Harvest's definition of "open bar" was before we paid for it. That again, we lay at the feet of Rachelle. If their understanding of an open bar is so very limited, the people they are charging need to know, preferably before they get charged, and definitely before the day of the wedding, rather than several hours into it.
Overall, if their communication was just a little more professional, and we had been less frustrated dealing with them, we might have been able to catch these issues beforehand, and been extremely happy with the services provided.Southern Harvest Catering Company's reply:
